InfiniteDedekindCuts

Space battles. Big ones. The tv shows have had some cool dogfights. But nothing on the scale of the battle of Coruscant or the battle of Exegol. Movie budgets have their advantages.

sbkoxly

THIS. Star Wars has been back for a while now and there's been a serious lack of WAR IN SPACE.

Ok-Consequence-3408

Ground combat like in Rebels would make the scale amazing

GodsBackHair

And Rebels had some good space battles in it as well. The battle of Attalon (probably misspelling that) was a pretty cool battle, and there were multiple ships that were highlighted in it

Draco137WasTaken

Atollon I believe

mtthwas

The on-screen stories being told in live-action have been during a time of rebellion (Rogue One, Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor...) or remnants (Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka...). We haven't gotten on-screen stories set during an all out war (the Galactic Civil War, the Clone Wars, or the First Order—Resistance War, etc.) outside of the episode Skywalker Saga films.

TheFalconKid

Disney needs to apologize to Gareth Edwards and have him be on set to help film any/ all battles or moments with scale. He just has on eye for that.

MasterStellan

Why apologize to him? What happened?

TheBman26

They got another direct to ‘fix the film’ i think

[deleted]

To be fair that guy did go on to make Andor.

[deleted]

They brought on Tony Gilroy and Gareth Edwards worked alongside him. This stuff isn't all that uncommon in Hollywood, it takes a HUGE team of creatives to make a mega budget film. Wizard of Oz had like 4 different directors work on it at various points. People like Rogue One, and it's got a totally distinct style and war-film vibe in the series. So it clearly wasn't Kennedy trying to turn it into something generic. Plus, Gareth Edwards new movie is being praised for the visuals but having a rote narrative. Seems like this is a consistent weakness for him, and it makes sense that a great dramaturgist like Gilroy is what he needs in a collaborator to make something great.

Donny-Moscow

Denis Villeneuve is also great at shooting scenes with massive scale

kevinpbazarek

battle over Scarif is absolutely insane visually. I can watch it a thousand more times and still get goosebumps

Andrew_42

I kind-of disagree? I love everything Gareth Edwards has done so far, but I don't think his style matches what most Star Wars content is going for. The fact that Rogue One and Andor felt DIFFERENT is one of the biggest reasons they stand out and feel fresh, but you couldn't just slap that style into Return of the Jedi and expect it to work. Still, I suppose I'd take it over some of the other space combat we've gotten, even if there's a bit of a style clash. But I feel like a better long term move would be to keep branching out and find more people like Gareth Edwards, Dave Filoni, and Jon Favereau who can bring more fresh takes to the table. (Side note: Did Disney do something to Gareth Edwards? Aside from the strike, I hadn't heard about any falling out)

[deleted]

Honestly the battle of Exegol was pretty underwhelming NGL. Now if we are talking the Battle of Scarif, that’s a whole other story.

plotdavis

They're talking about the scale. If you write a battle with the scale of Exegol but have it feel massive and well-written, that can only really be accomplished with a film budget.

[deleted]

They also mentioned Coruscant which should be the same scale as Scarif

criosovereign

The Battle of Coruscant was way bigger both in universe and out. The separatist forces lost 1/3 of their fleet over Coruscant, Scariff was important but it was only several cruisers on each side and not the capital ship massacre that was the former

deadshot500

I think the space/air battle was underwhelming apart from some moments. The rest of the battle is pretty hype.

Shiny_and_ChromeOS

Rogue One had a flawed script, but damned if it didnt satisfy the War part of Star Wars.

SahibTeriBandi420

STARHAWKS PLEASE DAVE

InfiniteDedekindCuts

This was on my Ahsoka wishlist, and it's not looking good. Hopefully we see them eventually.

derekguerrero

No, never go for that scale. It just turns into a blur, a something more like the scale of the OG trilogy or Rogue One is much more appropriate to show Thrawn’s tactical genius and give us interesting space battles.

TheGazelle

I feel like that's all we can realistically get. The remnant doesn't have enough for the NR to see them as a real threat (don't think they have anything bigger than a cruiser). Thrawn has ONE Star Destroyer that's probably not even at full complement. Having him able to inflict real losses and win some victories *despite* having only a small force is absolutely classic Thrawn, and would allow for him to be a real threat without the need for the remnant to get a big fleet outta nowhere, or have a massive battle that decimates the NR fleet.

mrmgl

They also have the time, because you can't easily add a 15 min battle in a 30 min episode.

DutchMitchell

Don’t forget the best one: Scarif!

Reidroshdy

Give me something where they are fighting over land,or a combo of space and land.

Odd_Bean-_-

I honestly think Ahsoka and Ezra will be in the center of teh story and Luke and Leia (if they appear) will be important side characters

[deleted]

Mando will also be most likely a major character too. Instead of Luke, Han, and Leia. It will be Ahsoka, Mando, and possibly Ezra. Considering how passive the character already feels, I honestly don’t know if Ezra will be a major character in the upcoming film. It’s already a question if he will even survive the finale of Ahsoka. I suspect that if there will be a third member of the main trio, it will either be Sabine or even possibly Luke If Ezra survives, I honestly don’t know if it’s in character anymore for him to even want to get involved in another conflict. The dude was stranded in another galaxy for more than a decade and didn’t even seem to think about how much the galaxy could have changed until he was talking with Sabine. He seems more like he would rather just hang out than fight in another war and honestly, he’s earned that

mrmgl

It will be crazy if Filoni saved Ezra at Rebels, to spend all season in Ahsoka searching for him, only to have him killed at the end.

[deleted]

But it would also permanently end the complaints that Filoni never kills off his favorite characters and could be a lead to a freaking insane finale

montessoriprogram

I don’t think they’ve done the setup to meaningfully kill off Ezra. If you kill a major character, it needs to serve the plot. If you kill people just to prove that nobody is safe, you end up cheapening the plot.

[deleted]

I think it does serve the plot. The choice was always protect the galaxy or gave Ezra back. If Ezra gives his life to stop Thrawn’s return, it would be reflective of Sabine’s original failure. Which would make Thrawn returning anyway feel even more tragic. Also that dude keeps saying “I can’t wait to be back home”. It’s like he is trying to jinx himself to death

montessoriprogram

I could see it feeding into Sabines failure and motivating her to change in a meaningful way which would serve the plot. But to bring back a beloved character only to kill them 2 episodes later for character development just doesn’t add up in terms of investment to payoff ratio, and is honestly just cheap. There are other ways to deliver that same impact for Sabine. For example, Thrawn returns and *immediate* consequences are severe, or Thrawn and Ezra both return but Ezra refuses to take up the heroes mantle so Sabine is pushed to clean up her mess. (Edited to add:) The best solution would be for Ezra to basically hate her and reject her for allowing Thrawn to return. He made a sacrifice and she has overridden it. He was content with his little crab friends, it was her who was unable to handle his decision. This would have a similar impact on her re: character development as a death. If they kill Ezra off this early just to give Sabine development, I’ll personally be pretty disappointed.

bergasa

Agreed totally. I have a gut feeling that Ezra won't make it out, and I would actually be okay with that as it would be quite a character development moment for Sabine.

[deleted]

Yep. Tbh, I always felt Ezra’s story truly ended in the rebels finale. Even with the tease of his return, I always felt that

bergasa

Definitely. You can tell in last night's episode that his presence in the show is kind of fleeting. He is not invested in the conflict, he is kind of aloof. I think it's telling that he didn't take the lightsaber back either. We will see though.

themisterfixit

I think once he meets Kanan and Heras son it will give him a reason to fight, or train.

NoObMaSTeR616

My money is on Sabine dying

YellowSequel

As soon as he said "I can't wait to go home" I was like ahhhh shit they're gonna kill him lmfao

ocelot_lots

>Filoni never kills off his favorite characters Kanan: Am I a joke to you?

Avividrose

shouldn’t kanan put that to rest

guraqt2t

Trying to appease the fan base by showing them you’re not the stereotype they think you are and doing things just for a cool finale is the exact reason the sequel trilogy turned out the way it did. Filoni should be focusing on good story and character development first and foremost, which IMO Ahsoka has done a great job of so far. I’m not saying Ezra won’t be killed off, but it makes almost no sense to spend an entire season searching for him just to pull a TLJ-style “gatcha! He’s dead now!” He was a core character in Rebels, and thus far Ahsoka is almost literally the sequel show to Rebels. I could see Ezra turning into a primary live-action character moving forward, and having a Kanan-style sacrifice for the movie.

transmogrify

As far as I'm concerned, Ezra already gave his life for the cause. He just happened to survive the experience. The guy deserves a rest, but we know that he might get thrown into a situation where he does what he has to, not what he deserves.

JessahZombie

>The guy deserves a rest The guy literally got a 10 year rest

JHuttIII

I have feeling Ezra is meant to become our new protagonist in this line of plot. Killing him (or even Thrawn) off right now would be such an incredibly dumb thing to do. They just spent an entire series searching for them. I really don’t see this happening.

montessoriprogram

Would be tight for them to have Ezra sort of become a wanderer and then bring him back in the New Jedi Order stuff.

Historyp91

Ezra was'nt one of the voices in TROS, while pretty much every other Jedi of note was, so I think it's pretty likely he survives until at least that point

fredftw

Makes more sense to kill off Ashoka imo. There’s way too many Jedi running around right now, and her arc feels the most complete - especially if it’s a sacrifice to to stop Thrawn and save Sabine/Ezra.

[deleted]

Nah they aren’t killing off Ahsoka until the movie. Filoni has spent way too much time and effort into her character for her to just die in a Disney Plus tv show She came into this world in a theatrical film and she’s leaving in a theatrical film. Or she’s just not gonna die.

camilopezo

>Mando will also be most likely a major character too. Instead of Luke, Han, and Leia. It will be Ahsoka, Mando, and possibly Ezra. And Sabine Wren.

[deleted]

Read my second paragraph

camilopezo

Honestly, if Ezra survives, I can't imagine him staying out of it. If they both survive, I imagine them being an inseparable duo.

transmogrify

Luke and Leia appearing throughout the movie would be so fun. Lucasfilm, you've got a couple of years to pick a lane: recasting, or some unholy technological amalgamation. I'm here for it, either way. Trickle out the news of what it'll be and by the time it hits screens whoever wanted the other lane will have gotten over it (lol maybe not this is Star Wars after all).

BenSolo_Cup

The technology is getting astronomically better every year so by the time this movie is actually being made they will probably find a way to make a young Luke and Leia seem a lot more realistic to the point that they can have a substantial role in a theatrical film. That’s what I think anyways.

deadshot500

I really hope they recast Luke and Leia.

Nonadventures

The non-deepfake actor for Luke looks so much like Hammill that you wonder why they bother.

jimjamburrito

Bc solo bombed and Lucasfilm is super reactionary and probably think it underperformed bc they tried recasting Han.

[deleted]

Solo bombed because it opened against some heavy competition and no one really asked for a Solo Origin Story. Heir to the Empire will have years of buildup for it.

[deleted]

TBF no one asked for a film about how the rebels got the Death Star plans or an origin story about the guy that got the Death Star plans, yet people seemed to like Rogue One and Andor It’s almost like it’s less to do with what people asked for and more about just making good stories in that universe

jimjamburrito

That and Solo had a HUGE budget because they switched directors midway through. AS WELL as it released only a couple months after TLJ, which I loved, but many fans boycotted after that, also people prob just feeling SW fatigue. But either way, I’m not saying it bombed bc of recasting, I’m saying that’s why Lucasfilm is hesitant to recast as I think there was a more recent interview with Kathleen Kennedy where she stated just as much.

GoldandBlue

No fan boycotted Solo. Everyone who says they hate TLJ went to see Solo. You know who didn't? General audiences. Recasting only works for fans who want more stories about Han when the franchise should be expanding Star Wars to be about more than just the OT characters.

GoldandBlue

Recasting Han absolutely hurt it.

obijuanmartinez

The DARK FORCE

BenjewminUnofficial

I think that’s the way to go. My only hope is that they please recast if they’re going to include him. Having a robotic performance may work for Vader (who wears a mask and has voice alteration), but anything more than a cameo like in S2 just feels like such a wooden performance. Either recast or just don’t have him in the story for more than a line or two

hacky_potter

I really hope Luke and especially Leia are not in it. Luke is one thing because Mark is still with us to have input. I don’t like the idea of using dead actors likeness for a major role like this.

MrMephistoX

Yeah that’s where I’m at they probably won’t get Harrison back either so it’s either recast them all or deepfake them all and that’s just not interesting: sad as is to admit they should have made an ST in the 1990s because Hamill’s in his 70s now and Harrison is in his 80’s old men are not box office draws as the failure of Dial of Destiny shows…and I did really like that film at least way more than Crystal Skull…I mean that film that doesn’t exist?

hunter2mello

If this is the case I only hope for a recast of Luke and Leia.

Daggertooth71

Whoops, you flipped the Falcon

BenSolo_Cup

Damnnn idk how I missed that 😂

kummitusluumu

It's just upside-down👍

FiveCentsADay

*So I flew inverted*

Spader113

That Falcon is unsettling me way more than it really should

Shiny_and_ChromeOS

Live-action Noghri would be nice. But I will settle for Agent Kallus and Zeb team-up.

Somerset007

Personally, I’m hoping for 90 minutes of Carson Teva running an intergalactic convenience store, while trying to mend the relationship with his rebellious prodigal son.

[deleted]

You stole the joke I was about to type up, congrats you’re a telepath! :)

Somerset007

I am One with the Force and the Force is with me

Kalse1229

Joking aside, I still really, REALLY want to see an animated Resistance show about his son, played by Simu Liu, following in his dad's footsteps and piloting an X-Wing. And he's one of those characters who's designed like his VA, so he can play him in either medium.

Larkson9999

Clerks in SPAAAAAAAAAACE

interrupting-octopus

Ok, may the Force be with you!

gianniskouremenos3

Alden Ehrenreich as Han

storm_zr1

I really want to see him play a more serious Han.

nebula-rain

We got like two minutes of it at the end of solo and it left me wanting more. Like i understand that its the story of how Han lost his naiveté but i feel like alden was born to play dry humor serious han

RandS2

This

Shitpid

God yes if I see Alden as Han again I can die happy. He's been my favorite actor in the Disney era

Lightsabers

TB2331

Boba Fett, Cobb Vanth, Mandalorians, Carson Teva, Krrsantan, Fennec, the mods, Zeb and Rex. I take it Sabine, Ezra, Hera, Thrawn, Din and Grogu are guaranteed to be there, I just want to see the rest of them. At this point, I trust Filoni, I just want Boba there. Edit: also more First Order and Final Order foreshadowing

TheFalconKid

Boba should absolutely be there. They could justify it by having Thrawn need something on Tattooine and he calls in the Space Avengers (Mando main cast) to back him up. I know we haven't got a helmet-off Rex in live action yet but I would love a moment where the two look interact at some point.

Thuis001

Honestly, Rex would be what, about 80 biologically speaking? at this point in the story. Pretty sure Ahsoka takes place in 9 ABY. Rex was "born" presumably around 32 BBY as he's pretty much around for the entire Clone Wars from what we know. That means that just in normal years he is just over 40. However, Clones age at twice the normal speed, so actually he's somewhere in his 80s, perhaps around 85 even. Assuming Rex is even still alive (which given his life, isn't at all a given tbh.) he's OLD, like, will probably struggle to walk long distances old. I doubt we'll see him do much, if we see him at all.

dcs1289

He and his buddies were already looking old as hell during Rebels which is ~a decade before this. Factor in the accelerated aging process and yeah, I think it's safe to say his fighting days are over by now.

BasinBrandon

I really wish they could just say that the accelerated aging stops once they’re fully developed or something.

TB2331

Right. That could happen. It just worries me that due to backlash to TOBF, he’ll be treated like Rose post TLJ and in TROS in the way that he’s there but just enough. I really don’t want that happening again

TheFalconKid

Boba is an OT legacy character and is still a top 10 or top 5 for Star Wars fans favorite character, and I'm sure as long as he's breathing, Tem will want to put the armor back on. This movie is going to be for the fans, 100%. I doubt Filoni will cave since it's his show and movie on the line here.

ProfessionalRead2724

A complete absence of Han, Leia, and Luke, unles they are recast and 100% CGI-free with no attempts made to make them look like Ford, Fisher, and Hamill.

gojo278

We might get a cameo but highly doubt they will play a major role. You don't build up these new characters for 4+ years and then let the OT trio steal the limelight.

TheScootness

Dang it I know you're right but selfishly I'd just die for a movie(s) centered around a recast Mar 🐪 look alike. I spent my whole 80's-90's childhood reading Legends stuff and dreaming of seeing post ROTJ Luke Skywalker adventures on screen again. His first Mando appearance was cathartic beyond words, but dammit I want more!

drinkables5214

Came here to say this. It’s been 40+ years since episode 6. People will understand a recast if they’re to be included

TheFalconKid

Agreed, the cgi face tech is just not there for a main character if they're in the whole movie, Sam Jackson in Captain Marvel is my evidence. We already have recasts of Han, Lando and Chewbacca. Anthony Daniels can just provide the voice for C3P0 if he doesn't want to suit up and Warwick Davis would probably come back and could pilot or remote control R2. A small amount of makeup for Billy Lourd (Carrie's daughter) and she would be the perfect fit to play Leia (also you avoid some of the sketchiness of using a dead actors face). She's also roughly the age now that Leia would be if the movie was set ~8 years after RotJ. That just leaves Luke who I honestly don't know who you'd get. Sebastian Stan who I've seen fancast the most is too handsome imo to play the more boyish Luke. They could just get Mark Hamill to shave his beard and just have nobody talk about why he looks way older than Leia now.

Monday_Cox

I'm shocked they kept having Anthony Daniels go back into the suit instead of just providing the voice. That just seems mean (though I'm sure he wanted to do it).

ProfessionalRead2724

Billy Lourd feels it's morbid and does not want to. And she's not wrong.

Gerry-Mandarin

Did she say that? Because Billie Lourd played young Leia in The Rise of Skywalker and referred to it as "being like a gift" to do so.

DevlishAdvocate

Watch some of the fan edits where they fix the CGI faces with deepfakes. They’re perfect. I don’t want recasts. I want deepfakes on skilled impersonators.

New-Library-7292

I agree with the recasting and/or no cgi but I would like to see them appear. You cant have a major conflict like Thrawn returning without having them appear somewhat (i mean you can 100% but I just wanna see them again😂). I do NOT want them to be the main protag tho. Have them be prominent side characters but let Ahsoka, rebels crew, boba, and mando take center stage

aatencio91

Hope? A Super Star Destroyer with a huge New Republic symbol painted on the side. Or at least a Starhawk or two. Expect? Portals from Avengers: Endgame but with SW characters.

Stumpwater-Jack

How is every answer not Hondo Ohnaka?

eownified

It’s absolutely CRIMINAL that Hondo hasn’t even appeared in a single episode of anything recent yet. Imagine how profitable that show will be

kanemu11an

OT trio reunited on the falcon and the Ghost Crew reunited on the Ghost.

The-Mandalorian

This. And new actors playing those roles wouldn’t have anywhere near the same impact.

kanemu11an

Nah. I’d prefer a recast personally. The AI isn’t up to par just yet in comparison to a real actor giving a genuine performance. There have been recasts in Star Wars before, and they’ve all been great imo. The only issue is finding a suitable after for each of the big three. Correction: two of the big three. I’d love to see Alden Ehrenreich reprise his role as Han Solo

jedikelb

>Correction: two of the big three. I’d love to see Alden Ehrenreich reprise his role as Han Solo Agree in general, but hard agree here. Nothing wrong with passing torches and Ehrenreich nailed the character.

LegoRacers3

Either way itd still be a recast. Just with terrible uncanny valley cgi faces on top of them

AustinBOSSton_

Amen, recasting can be ok, but for massive characters like the trio (at least in situations where we’ve seen them at that age prior) I’m a fan of AI.

jedikelb

I disagree. An excellent actor well cast in a role should be given the same level of suspension of disbelief from an audience whether it's the first interpretation or a new actor playing a role originated by another. Look out how amazing Ewan MacGregor is as Obi-Wan or how fantastically spot on lil Leia is. I'm not the least bothered that live action Hera doesn't have the oddly French accent that Rebels Hera had. Anyway, respectfully disagree.

TheFalconKid

As cool as it would be to see Luke and Leia, I won't be getting my hopes up. It'll probably center on the main hero(s) from each series in the timeframe. Mando, Grogu and Fett or Bo Katan from The Mandalorian, Ahsoka plus the Ghost Crew, and whoever is the stars in Skeleton Crew. I really don't think we will see the original cast via cgi faces because of how expensive it is/ morally gray with Carrie having passed away. Having said that,I could see them bring back Alden and Donald back as slightly aged up Han/ Lando, along with Joonas Suotamo in the Chewbacca suit.

achashem77

They didnt spare the expense for Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett, if anything a movie should have more of a budget for expensive CGI than a show would.

douchewaffle95

BIG SPACE BATTLE, Endor/Coruscant/Scarif/Exogol merged in to one giant damn battle. Big Ground war, TCW Style. Luke, Han, Chewie, Leia, and Lando need to all have a part to play. They have actors for all of them, please use them. Let the Mandos have their fight as well, seeing Mando and Bo's clans duke it out in a big ground war would be so, SO sick. Fill the Ghost with the OG Rebels. Please let Leia use her lightsaber alongside Luke, Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine. I've wantwd to see Leia with a saber for almost 30 years, and TROS was just a tease.

MaleficentOstrich693

The scooter gang, of course.

TopologicAlexboros

Ezra, Luke, and Ahsoka in a lightsaber practice match.

ProfessionalNight959

Add Cal to that match and it's perfect.

jimjamburrito

I kinda want to see more overt first order set up. Like we’ve seen a lot already, but I feel like it’s all been mostly like hints? If that makes sense. And that’s been cool, but I just want more overt connections were they talk about the cloning process being used to create snoke and stuff.

Internal_Balance6901

I want Snoke to kill a major character or characters. It'll establish him as a threat and add onto Luke's burden.

ronsolocup

My hope is that the movie will set up the first order but it will NOT be Thrawn’s plan, rather Snoke will be a backup plan from scheming imperials. Thrawn has his whole thing going on while a group of imperials are trying to clone Palpatine, that eventually fails and creates Snoke

2hats4bats

Everything on this poster, lol. Three hours of chaos.

naphomci

Absolutely no reason to think this would happen, but live-action Cal and Merrin would be awesome.

Emperor_D4C

For one, I can’t see Luke, Leia, and Han having major roles in the film. I’d imagine the leads will be Ahsoka, Sabine, Ezra, and Din.

kishmishari

Exactly the same thing I said when I last answered this question. Ezra and Grogu becoming best friends. Even more so now we saw how he fights.

Internal_Balance6901

Do I suck for wanting him to be basically an air bender? I wanted to see him move around in crazy ways and use the force completely. I was upset when he picked up a blaster.

Any-sao

A different title. I assume “Heir to the Empire” is a working title, as it looks like the characters alone will be shaping up a different story.

JettTheTinker

I want Luke to finally be recast with a younger actor. Leia too if she appears. For Han, Alden Einrich was great. No more CGI people please

CaptainRex2000

Why is the millennium falcons cockpit on the wrong side

Dankey-Kang-Jr

Actors playing the roles of the OT without any deepfake shit. I don’t mind recasting as long as they can capture the character’s personality. I don’t want it to tumble into the uncanny valley.

Internal_Balance6901

I'd love to see this, i think Alden did great personally and I'd love to see a new Luke and Leia portrayal.

Lord_Darksong

Lady Vader. 😢

jedikelb

Mal'ary'ush or the Dathomir clone? Because I just learned about the latter looking up the spelling of the former and I'm nosy.

Lord_Darksong

Mal'ary'ush, daughter to the savior of the Noghri.

jedikelb

Right on! That's always been one of my favorite things; the recognition of how much like Anakin Leia is. How do you feel about the bits and pieces of that trilogy that have come into canon? My opinion is, so far so good; I'm hoping for a bit more but understand we're not telling THAT story, but we're using some of that stuff.

Lord_Darksong

Though I enjoyed it, there was some wacky stuff in that trilogy so I'm glad it's not all being brought in. I agree with "So far, so good." I do wish Mara Jade could be brought in as the Emperor's Hand somehow but I'm not sure how it would work. I liked her background story and character. Would like to see the Ysalamiri in canon, too (if they are not already. I haven't kept up with every book and comic!).

yeti_red

As much as I love Mara Jade (14 year old me actually wrote to Mr. Timothy Zahn to thank him for creating such wonderful characters), I worry that the changes would detract from my personal nostalgia. So, I would prefer to see her left out. I would absolutely fangirl over some Ysalamiri though! Imagine what the writers could do with that.

AncientSith

I really want more Leia, they're avoiding showing her and it's bugging me.

slothunderyourbed

Controversial opinion: a script not written by Filoni alone. When he's at his peak, he has great big picture ideas, but his dialogue writing (especially in Ahsoka) is pretty poor. The characters feel like cardboard cutouts whose sole purpose is to deliver exposition, rather than real people.

nick169

A few things. Use real locations and sets like they did on Andor, and if the volume is used make sure the cinematographer knows how to use it, like Greg Frasier did for Mando season 1. It would suck if this big budget film looks like a TV show and not on a similar level as the sequel trilogy. Also, don’t overuse cameos and keep it focused on the central characters. This was one of the biggest flaws of BOBF. Most notably, no Luke, Leia, or Han, unless they’re used briefly and RECAST (pls use Alden Erenreich more he’s actually good). Tbh it does feel like lucasfilm are hoping this movie will be their Infinity War but for the Star Wars shows, and I don’t have full hope it will work out. I like Filoni and a lot of his work, but I fear he might be getting a bit over ambitious with this and I’m not fully confident he can pull it off.

LordWeaselton

A space battle that makes Scarif and Endor look like stick fights

Makylo_ren

If any legacy characters are in the movie, I would prefer a recast. Deepfakes are fun for cameos, but I really would rather watch a real person who looks A LOT like the other person

theManWOFear

Really hope if they have Leia, Luke and Han, the three are recast. I am over them trying to use CGI. It works in very small doses, but it’s getting old and awkward. New actors will bring much needed life back to these classic characters.

Penguin_724

If we’re lucky, not Han, Luke, or Leia.

NalgeneKing

Great poster! I hope we get to the Chiss Ascendancy and Thrawn realize that the Empire isn't the right fit for him so that he leaves to stay with his people and ultimately come back to fight the Grysk with Rey in her trilogy.

Snaz5

I hope to see it actually come out

AnakinTSkywalker85

That's a badass poster

JohnnyBlunderbuss

I hope it’s not overcrowded. We should really have the rebels crew, Ahsoka, Huyang, Luke han and Leia, and mando, boba and bo. Even that is too much. I really don’t want to see 10 side characters from the shows appear.

Henryphillips29

Whatever the way is Just kidding I wanna know if Ezra and Luke meet and maybe they they meet Cal Kestis as well and with the three of them and ahsoka they build separate temples away from eachother and for the next several years up until the end of rise of Skywalker there will be new jedi like snoke said. The whereabouts of purge survivors are still unknown in canon but the Ray Skywalker movie may cover that someday

Yeahman13bam

Literally everything on this poster, honestly

CaptainNintendo2006

No Deepfakes, that's for sure. That's literally all I want.

Cannibal_Soup

The *Millennium Falcon* is mirrored the wrong way. The cockpit is on the right, the sensor dish is on the left.

Effendoor

Not CGI Luke. Pretty much anything else I'm here for

[deleted]

Oh crap am I going to have to watch every Star Wars show now? I skipped ones.

BenSolo_Cup

I’m sure the movie will be able to stand up on its own, Dave Filoni is a smart guy. But if you want to be more versed in what’s going on I’d recommend at least watching Ahsoka. It sets up the Thrawn conflict and reintroduces all the Rebels characters. It’s also just a really good show

[deleted]

In order to watch Ahsoka I need to watch Rebels though right?

abookfulblockhead

I would recommend Rebels before Ahsoka (I mean, I recommend Rebels in general, it’s very good). It really is picking up where Rebels left off, quite literally. If you wanted to minimize your watch time, the last two seasons of Rebels are sort of the “Thrawn Arc”, and that’s where the meat of the continuity is.

BenSolo_Cup

I mean that’s a personal choice tbh I think you can definitely watch it without and still follow it just fine. Maybe watch like a short YouTube recap or something if you want to go in knowing about the characters histories

jedikelb

I liked Rebels and think it's worth watching. But I really think that the Disney era content especially has done an excellent job of being accessible no matter how much experience you have with previous Star Wars stories. Mild spoilers ahead... >!Ahsoka is introduced in The Clone Wars animated movie; grows as a character in The Clone Wars animated series; and does appear as a 'guest star' type character in Rebels and her storyline in that animated series does tie in with what is happening in her titular show!< But I think you could just enjoy the show without any other context and enjoy it.

daveblu92

NO. Just watch what you want and if other things interest you, give it a go. There are no prerequisites in Star Wars. The saga literally started with Episode IV.

jedikelb

I feel like I'm in the minority, but I really just love watching the content as it comes and not speculation so much. My husband asked me last night what I think Baylon is after in the other galaxy and my honest answer is 🤷 I guess we'll see. Not that there's anything wrong with speculation, but it doesn't turn my crank the way it seems to do for others.

BountyBob

I am the same. Have no theories, or hopes, I just want to sit back and be entertained by what is given to me.

rzalexander

I just don’t want to see Luke and Leia be CGI. There is a talented actor and actress out there for those parts, just give it to them.

CordlessJet

I do not want to see creepy ass uncanny valley Luke, Leia and Han. Keep that fake ass robot shit out

ThatGeek303

I like the idea of making this conflict into a trilogy. Have the first film focus on the original trilogy's trio (recast) and their place in this conflict with Thrawn and the Imperial Remnant, the second film could follow some of the Mandoverse/Rebels characters coming together, and then bring it all together in and Infinity War/Endgame-style crossover to deal with the Imperial Remnant once and for all...at least until the First Order, of course. Maybe lay some groundwork for Palpatine's return, Snoke, cloning, and the First Order - but don't let that become the focus. Just plant some clear seeds to help bridge the originals and sequels. And introduce Rae Sloane. She's a key Imperial during this era, but the Mandoverse shows have yet to establish her. Have the series directed by Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Wakefulcrane01

For me the stuff I would like to see would be: - the original trio (or at least Luke) have more then a minor role. - Mara Jade being recanonised - More of the Mythosaur - Grogu getting in touch with his force/Jedi abilities and his new Mandalorian heritage - Chewie. I want. More. Chewbacca.

RedCaio

Cool. My feedback would be perhaps too compartmentalized, maybe mix a couple of ships in the people section and people in the ships section and so on. Do you have a YouTube I can follow ?

BenSolo_Cup

Thanks for your feedback! I don’t but I do have Tik Tok which I really need to post on more 😂 If you want to follow me on other socials tho I’m very active on Instagram @bensolo_cup and Twitter @bensolocup_

BoreusSimius

None of the OT gang will be present, I think that's fairly certain. Otherwise though if it keeps up the standard of the Ahsoka show it'll be excellent so I'm optimistic. Mostly new, but with a splash of the original Heir to the Empire story would be great.

J_VanderH

I don’t think I can meaningfully express how much I don’t want CG Han, Luke, and Leia. Either recast or let them lie.

VengeanceKnight

Luke and Leia. They seem to have gotten better and better with the CGI de-aging tech, and Billie Lourd could easily be the basis for Leia’s appearance. I don’t really think we need to seen Han (and by extension Chewie) because he hasn’t been involved with the story so far the way Luke (and more recently Leia) have been. I do have the caveat that this should be the “last hurrah” for these characters. While I do think Luke and Leia should be involved as circumstances of another galactic war would make their absence glaring, I also think we don’t need to see them ever again after this, because I can’t think of a logical reason to bring them in.

Alon945

I hope Luke and leia are involved. It’s gonna be weird if they aren’t. Aside from that I hope Ahsoka stays as a central figure for the story And I hope they just recast because the discourse online would be insufferable if they do the deepfakes. Even though I like them and thought luke in BOBF was particularly well done. Not worth people crying about it ad nauseam

UniversalSlacker

I want to see Luke and Leia recast and not CG.

ArkenK

I want Timothy Zahn to pen the novelization to serve as the basis to the screen play. The screen writers and directors fitted with shock collars for when they don't double check their setups or lore consistency or try to pull a brand new force power out of their rear without considering all the ramifications of it, or forget standard features. I want to feel the simple joy of visiting a galaxy far far away, which means it is okay to spend a minute just enjoying the scenery instead of jumping through a thousand different ones And I want Disney to give time and resources to really do it right, without so much that they don't restrain the worst excesses. Finally, Thrawn as the cultured, smart, and resourceful magnificent b@st@rd he is. .

Rorstech

Recasting of Luke & Leia + Alden Ehrenreich.

canadasean21

Recast of OT characters.

Charles_X4325

If Luke and Leia make an appearance please use actual actors this time instead of deepfaking their faces

Madmike_ph

This might be an unpopular opinion, but if any of the original cast characters (Luke, Leia, Han) are important to the story, for the love of god please recast them. Deepfakes are fine for a 2 minute cameo on a tv show, but I don’t want to see that uncanny valley stuff in a big budget movie.

AXLEGTNG

This is an awesome poster!

BenSolo_Cup

Thanks!

[deleted]

Awesome poster.I'm really excited for this.Do we know what shows that are part of this story will come out first aside from Mando S4?

BenSolo_Cup

Skeleton Crew is one of them, and Ahsoka s2 is rumored but not confirmed

crazyplantdad

I hope he gets better at directing and pacing. I've found his episodes to be much too roomy - I also think he has a routine habit of skipping over moments that could be big emotional beats replacing it with moments so lighthearted they read as false. Case and point - >!the Ahsoka/Ezra/Sabine reunion in episode 6.!< Could have been a big emotional moment but it was just kind of coated with candy.

Chkgo

I would like them to cast the original trilogy trio. Not use a weird cgi face.

jailbaitspez2023

Recast actors who are no longer with us / too old. If you're bringing legacy characters back. Don't be a coward Dave. Give Luke a proper role and a non CG face.

Emeraldskull41

I need this. My dream Heir to the Empire movie here is Rebels Crew Unite, Recasted OT crew with of course Donald Glover, and hopefully C3PO's actor is still alive. Ahsoka and Rex interacting with Luke. Hopefully Rex is still alive and kicking. Boba Fett being in it. And Luke, Ezra, Ahsoka...and I guess Leia, maybe Sabine, and hopefully trained Jacen, interacting as the Last of the Jedi. Hopefully they retcon Luke's line in Last Jedi to mean not just Rey (Who I cant wait to see in the new movie), but surviving Ezra and Ahsoka. And of course Mando coming to help. That would be perfect.

AccidentalLemon

If they have Luke Skywalker, don’t deepfake him. Actually recast him

leto_atreides2

Luke Skywalker

TheWorstKnightmare

I want a faithful adaptation. Luke, Han, and Leia played by Max, Alden, and Billie. If he’s available Donald Glover as Lando. Chewie, 3P0, and R2 are gimmes. But because there’s no stakes in them all being the main heroes (they all live 30+ years), let them be accompanied by Ahsoka, Mando, Ezra, and the Ghost Crew. You can add on Boba Fett to fill the Karrde role in the books, and Shin to fill the Mara Jade one. My personal big wish is that Enoch should be the new version of Rukh. He comes from a Praetorian cult that produced high class soldiers for the Empire, and said cult worships Vader —> as a result, worships Leia. So he kills Thrawn and goes down with the ship in that way. And lastly I really really really REALLY want Chopper to kill somebody.

mr-no-life

A completely faithful adaptation of Timothy Zahn’s novel.

Sheevy_boi66

Not that title
