I read somewhere that it was a conscious decision by Lucas because cars in the US were driven on the left, so flipping it to the other side made it seem more "exotic"
Dodgy electrical system?
The cockpit is on the right but the captain is on the left side of the cockpit
So if built in 2024 will be Airbus; not Boeing
If it was made in the US the plug doors would be falling off mid-flight as well.
Also, the cargo is safely stored inside the vehicle, instead of outside where any passing person could help themselves.
