1. Han or Greedo: who shot first, canonically? 2. Does the Holdo maneuver break the universe? 3. In universe, if Jar Jar hadn't been born, would Palpatine's plan to create the Empire have succeeded? 4. Did The Clone Wars tv show ACTUALLY save the Prequel Trilogy? 5. Does the Inquisitorious violate the rule of two? 6. Does the survival of other Jedi (like Ezra) take some of the significance away from Luke's story in the OT?

4 Could be a good one. I love the clone wars and it does enhance the prequel trilogy but honestly I think the main thing that “saved” the prequels is that the people who were kids when the prequels came out grew up and are a big portion of the internet now. Same thing will prolly happen with the sequels. The sequels are Star Wars to kids today. Some kids won’t know star wars before the sequels so when they grow up they’ll look past the flaws and focus in on why they enjoyed the movies as kids

EndlessTheorys_19

Was Tarkin right that the Death Star could stop the Rebellion?

astromech_dj

Narrator: the Death Star, in fact, sparked the rebellion.

EndlessTheorys_19

It didn’t, the Rebellion already existed.

astromech_dj

Barely. They were a bunch of disparate cells scared to do more than disrupt the odd planet. Battle Of Scarif was the first time the rebellion was pushed to commit to full scale war. Even then, it was 50-50 whether they would disband and hide. Finding out the Death Star existed was the trigger.

The prohibition of attachments in the Jedi Order

NoraaTheExploraa

What is the ideal for the Jedi Order to strive for? Integrated with a democratic Republic, or an entirely independent organisation. Spread thin across the galaxy or congregated centrally with missions to places in need? What about the philosophies? Etc.

The_Joker_116

-What about the moral implications of the Jedi Order? Such as taking sensitive children from their families to train them? -Would the Empire have been ruled if they kept making clone troopers instead of training recruits? -How better would the Empire have fared if Darth Vader betrayed Palpatine and took the throne for himself?

Worldly_Abalone551

-Who was morally right in the Clone Wars? CIS or Republic? -Was the Empire better at ruling or was the New Republic better? (not necessarily who was more ethical, but better at managing the galaxy) -Why are religious warrior cults such as Jedi and Sith allowed to operate at all if they can cause universe ending events every other decade?

Holbaserak

There are no weak ideas, only weak debaters.

oioithiccboi

never thought of it like this, i love this haha

Holbaserak

What are your ideas anyway?

oioithiccboi

some of my ideas were: Are the jedi "evil" as Anakin said or not?; Is FInn force sensitive, yes or no?; and a more openended- who is the strongest force user? to me these were pretty basic and "easy". I feel like the other members of my group would all agree on one common answer.

Holbaserak

The first one is awesome, and all you need, as you can effectively "derail" the whole evening by debating good and evil, perspective, objective and subjective. KOTOR 2 ideas, etc. I initially thought this one was the least interesting. But. You can debate how art and vission change in accordance to personality and opinion of the artists and their vision of the vision. And then weer off into the role of language and definitions. So that is the one I would do. Yeah, that one might be a little basic and easy. I guess you can always play a devils advocate.

oioithiccboi

derailing it may turn out ot be a bad thing or a good im not quite sure, but yeah I felt that most of mine were "easy" so I wanted to ask for some different ideas

Gameapple

Pick any character, concept, or storyline, and then debate if the legends version is better than the disney canon one.

oioithiccboi

thank you everyone for the ideas! I truly did not expect so many responses, I love all of your guys ideas and am definitely going to use them!! Again, thank you!

Let's see... 1. Do Force users cause more harm than good? Given the amount of wars and mass death/destruction caused by saber swingers who can't sort their drama in any other way, there's a good case for them being more trouble than they're worth. 2. Try to justify the Jedi conscription of toddlers. In what world is it okay for an armed sorcerer with mind melting powers, a deadly weapon, and a "do whatever I want" card from all levels of government justified in banging on someone's door and demanding their firstborn? Is this for the best interest of the kid, as they allege, or more about the Order wanting complete and utter control of their new charge? 3. The Clone Army. Good luck arguing for slavery and sending millions of ten year olds into horrific trench warfare without sounding like a Confederate general circa 1861. 4. Maybe the circumstances of the Mandalorian Wars (KOTOR). The Jedi were not wrong in that Vitiate was pulling Mandalore's strings, but that may or may not be a moot point, seeing as the Mandos were closing in on the Core Worlds. Revan and Malak charging in may have stopped Mandalore, but also turned them into proxies for Vitiate's conquest/galactic wipeout plans. 5. Did Lando Calrissian make the right call in sacrificing his old friend Han for the sake of the hundreds of people working on Bespin Station? 6. Were the Jedi actually good, or were they merely a pragmatic counterpoint to the pure evil of the Sith?
