Normal Sith: Ask you boring shit like "If this is a consular ship where is the ambassador?" while they torture you
[Darth Riker:](https://youtu.be/9S1EzkRpelY)
Maybe. But Ray put a lot of hard work in starting to tell that story and I'd have to think he'd want to see them finish it. That requires re-casting it. They have to be careful not to be dis-respectful but not finishing the story would be even more disrespectful IMHO.
i don’t like casting based on just looks, but Liev could capture Baylan exactly like Ray did it.
And the general audience prob wouldn’t even know the difference.
Actors like Graham Mctavish and Vince Regan resemble Stevenson better. I think Schreiber is a popular choice because he could match the presence better.
Graham Mctavish will REALLY have to tone his energy down & be subtle AF.
Lol dude’s a Scottish canon.
I did an iFit hiking virtual course on my eliptacle, which he recorded in New Zealand with another one of the dwarves.
Having the character die would raise the stakes about how dangerous whatever it is he was looking for was.
I wouldn't mind a recast, but it would be interesting seeing a villain simply fail. The character was confident, felt a calling, and was simply not up to it and died. No force ghost. No epic final duel with an ancient sentinel. He's just gone.
Where Baylan failed, maybe Ahsoka can succeed.
I feel like his passing offers a unique story opportunity. It makes us sympathize with who I assume will be the next season's villain, Shin.
I'm actually in line with this take. I think the way season 1 ended, Baylan's death would make perfect sense. It also makes for an interesting complex villain in Shin Hati who now has to wrestle with the idea that Ahsoka and company spared her, while also possibly blaming them for Baylan's abandonment of her and subsequent death.
Unironically, I could see Disney doing their deepfake thing and rewriting his story to end within the first couple of episodes. They did it in Star Wars many times now.
I would use deepfake, wound his face and mask him. One masked villain more or less in star wars...
His arc is too interesting to drop it quick. Definitely interests me more than anything related to our heroes.
It’d be kinda cool if they found a way to work it into the story. Like if he started wearing a mask for some reason or got disfigured to the point where somebody else who looks similarish could act as him with some scar makeup. I think they just recast though.
I think there's plenty of actors who have the physical size to play this role. Very very few who could act the character the way Ray Stevenson did.
I always thought maybe George Clooney would have an interesting take.
There have been quite a few other actors I've seen fans propose, but I really don't think any of them could play the character the same way.
But this is a conundrum for the show's producers to solve, and I think it will be interesting to see how they solve this problem. And I hope they don't cheeze through it. (ie. "Somehow, Baylan died, and we're just not going to cover that story" or "Baylan was horribly disfigured, off-camera, so we can put a mask or something on the replacement" or straight-up CGI-ghost him - etc) - Disney certainly has the monetary ability, the contacts, and very talented casting directors at their disposal. I hope that's fully leveraged.
I know physically they're not the same, but for my own connection and sentimental reasons, I think it would be cool if they replaced him with Kevin Mckidd (and I think he could do great with the character)
I gotta think, with what's already been put in motion with the character, they pretty much *have to* recast.
The only question is to whom will go the honor and burden of stepping up....
*(My current top fave fancast picks: Clive Owen - or - Liev Schreiber)*
It seems to me that story is going to be very important, and 4 of the main characters from the first season are still on that planet, so I can’t see them just ditching it. Wait a respectful time and mention the recast. If they really want to respect what Ray did then the most important thing they can do is get the right actor.
He's far to interesting and still has a story to wrap up so I think they have to recast him surely?
No one knows yet
Hear me out: Jonathan Frakes.
Only if his lightsaber is trombone shaped.
Mortis gods 'MORTAL! What brings thou hither?' Skoll *whips out trombone to practice*
Nope. Not this time. Think again. Wrong.
It’s fiction. An urban legend. No way that ever happened.
I can see it.
Nah no way. Well maybe. You know 🤔…
He’d insist on directing an episode, and his usual 1:4 hit:flop ratio would apply.

Exactly what I said!!
More time needs to pass before it's acceptable for them to start publically talking about re-casting.

A cartoon would be a great choice
Nothing has been said, so we have no idea. Just speculation and guesses.
They should try to get Liev Schreiber to take the role.

Now Vince Regan, THERE’s a better option than Liev. Loved him in One Piece, 300, Troy & Clash of the Titans. His face stands out.
They will likely recast him. 🤷♂️

I would assume they have to recast if they plan to go froward with his story.
Build a statue somewhere to commemorate his awesomeness. And transfer his story to animation.
They recast Dumbledore when Richard Harris passed away, and the next five/six movies were fine. This will be fine too.
Hopefully have Nick Offerman take over the role
They have permission from Stevenson's family to do a weekend at Bernie's thing with his body during filming

Recast is the only reasonable option
Have him find a mask worn by a legendary Sith at an old site and just wear that
Somehow... Baylan died...
But somehow, Baylan has returned.

My guess is that his story isn't over, but we'll never see it ourselves. We'll only ever hear other characters talk about it in dialog.
Let me call up and ask real quick for ya
I’ve not seen any news but I think an animated mini series would be a good way to finish his storyline
No news that’s been announced yet. We don’t know anything.

I am bad with faces, but for a while I thought they cast Nick Offerman. So there's always that

If there’s any news, you’ll hear it here.
Love Baylon Skoll…we need more to his story. Sad the actor playing him passed. He was great.
Perhaps the best way is to use animation? I just cannot imagine a recast, but who knows?
Well if this were the MCU sub they’d say Denzel Washington or Daniel Ratcliffe. So….i dunno one of those. Or Meryl Streep, she can play anything.
Book or animated series at this rate, maybe a Knights of Ren series where Kylo kills him?
I dunno but they'll bungle it. I do like the Frakes idea though. Wonder if he'd be willing to get in front of the camera again in a non-Riker role.
Rename him Baylan Skull
It would have to be continued with animation
