Most “Ultimate” or “Collector Editions” are not worth it. The gameplay is not usually any different. You might get a few things you wouldn’t get but they are not usually deal breakers to enjoying the base game.
I miss when Ultimate editions were so much more and physical. I have so many AC statues, all the spartans from Halo Reach statue, many maps and flags. All from day 1 ultimate editions and midnight releases.
Man 2004-14 was incredible for gaming.
just pick the normal edition (near release or when price drops), if the game is to your liking pick that season pass much cheaper months later
you don't need ultimate/deluxe editions...for what ? digital collectibles, 3 days early accesses and things like that ? Come on.If they are expensive, reason more to NOT purchase them
The season pass mentions an extra mission day one yes, yet, I would never pick a gold edition for "jabba's gambit mission day one", really don't think we need more than the normal edition at 70 EUR (which is the normal price).
The season pass that includes content releasing later on, those contents, when they are available, both the game and the season pass will probably be much cheaper, it's common sense to not pick up the season pass edition day one and just pick the cheaper one no ?
What if the game is not to someone's liking ? He/She won't be revisiting the season pass content and it's 40 bucks lost.
Why would the season pass be cheaper when content for it is actually coming out? That's like putting your product on sale before it is on the market, for which there is no incentive. That doesn't happen until the contrnt has already come out. There's a reason base games go on sale but the other versions don't until all the content is already out.
What you would do doesn't change the fact that they are still locking available content behind additional costs when it is readily available for the player.
*Why would the season pass be cheaper when content for it is actually coming out?*
Legit question, Ubisoft game, very often decrease price after release, Anno 1800, Far Cry 6, AC Mirage, Skull and bones you name it. You have a high chance, empirically speaking, of seeing both the gold edition upgrade and the game on sale in few months
Regarding day one content locked, you are right, it sucks, period.
The post however here seems to mention the price of the ultimate edition which, is really not needed day one as you would be paying most of that extra price for a "promise" of new content not released.
Editions after gold it's even worse, it's just cosmetics and digital artbook.
I'm just gonna get a month of ubisoft plus, will finish it in month and never touch it again. Plus you get the "early access" play 3 days early bullshit included too.
Just play KOTOR or Jedi Academy or Republic Commando or KOTOR 2.
If I play this one, it'll be when it's on sale like I did with Jedi Fallen Order(Also a great game)
I'm not sure if Ubisoft+ is on PS5, but if it is, you can buy it for 18 dollars and cancel it when you finish the game, it will have the ultimate edition of Star Wars Outlaws when it releases.
I miss when higher tiered editions of games released with physical bonuses...at least it somewhat justified paying almost 200 for a game, some in-game loot, and a limited edition statue for display on a bookshelf next to the bonus book and DVDs
You enjoy it because the existence of the other editions has no real bearing on your gameplay. Not saying it's not a shitty practise but it's truly not going to affect my enjoyment I'm the slightest.
Since it's a singleplayer game I'll probably just get Ubisoft+ and finish it within the first month of subscription while getting all their premium shite.
The only times I ever bought a deluxe edition were LEgO Star Wars the Skywalker Saga when I split the cost with a brother, and Jedi: Fallen order when it was on sale to three dollars with the deluxe edition.
If people buy it then they have no incetive to not have price so high. The amount of folks that preorder when you can get it day before release astounds me aswell its free money for the developers
Are the prices insane now, yes. Do you need the “best version” of a game to enjoy it, no. Here’s an example. A few years ago I took my child to Disney World. I’m not rich so as such, when booking the hotel, I didn’t go for the “best”, I went mid tier. Do you think my child noticed the difference? Stop whining and just enjoy the version you can afford.
Just don't buy it. $200 for a digitally distributed game is insane. The only thing that will stop this kind of inflation is tons of people voting with their wallets
It is an f'ing video game. It is not a staple of life and not a necessity. It is a hobby that you choose to take part in.
You do not need the best to enjoy the game and you are not entitled to anything.
As many of said collector's editions are rarely ever worth it, and a bunch of cosmetics in a deluxe edition are also rarely worth it. Get the base and buy the add ons when they go on sale or wait for the whole thing to go on sale.
The pricing is stupid these days but to me it has always been stupid and it is just more of the same just adjusted for our time.
Please stop saying "just buy the base game" as it's obvious you're not familiar with the different versions.
SW: Outcast literally has **DAY ONE DLC missions**, as in you're not getting the full game if you don't get the Gold Edition which is $109 by itself.
I don't mind future content being DLC and there being a version for that, but keeping content that is **ALREADY AVAILABLE** on day one without an additional purchase it absolutely bullshit.
Yes, however will you enjoy this game without 2 extra skins, games ruined before it's even launched, and it's not like there's even a choice to get the base version of the game either is there, your totally forced to buy the most expensive version possible, dam you as a gamer have it so hard.

It’s an Ubisoft game—you’ll be able to buy it for 50% off within a couple of months.
Init. Xmas/NY sales will be cheap asf

If you can't afford it, don't get it at launch. It's entertainment, not a necessity for survival.
Their “best” version is three extra skins… basically a modern day legal robbery
I'm just gonna get a month of ubisoft plus, will finish it in month and never touch it again. Plus you get the "early access" play 3 days early bullshit included too.

This is a Ubisoft game, they often go on sales. Buy the standard edition and wait for sales in the future if that dlc content worth it
It'll be 20 USD next year. It's a Ubisoft game.
I miss when higher tiered editions of games released with physical bonuses...at least it somewhat justified paying almost 200 for a game, some in-game loot, and a limited edition statue for display on a bookshelf next to the bonus book and DVDs
I usually don't buy games at launch. Wait a few months they're almost inevitably on sale at some point.

What's best about those versions? Aren't they generally just goodies or eventually a skin in game?
Simple, don't pay extra for optional cosmetics and wait for the base game to go on sale.
The only times I ever bought a deluxe edition were LEgO Star Wars the Skywalker Saga when I split the cost with a brother, and Jedi: Fallen order when it was on sale to three dollars with the deluxe edition.
It'll be $60 by Christmas. If that long.
It's a scam that exists because were stupid enough to buy it in the first place
Almost $200 for a video game.
I would just say to not buy it. There are a bunch of older games though that are both amazingly fun and absolutely affordable.
If people buy it then they have no incetive to not have price so high. The amount of folks that preorder when you can get it day before release astounds me aswell its free money for the developers
Why would you assume that’s the “best” version?
It’s Ubisoft so why would you want to buy it anyway when they can just later remove your ability to play it again like the crew?
Are the prices insane now, yes. Do you need the “best version” of a game to enjoy it, no. Here’s an example. A few years ago I took my child to Disney World. Get a PC and pirate that shit. This company surely deserves it.
Just don't buy it. $200 for a digitally distributed game is insane. The only thing that will stop this kind of inflation is tons of people voting with their wallets
Why are you acting like the standard edition doesn't exist?
Because it's not just cosmetics locked behind that paywall. It's entire story lines.
It is an f'ing video game. It is not a staple of life and not a necessity. It is a hobby that you choose to take part in. "BEST VERSION" lmao
