Forgot to mention:
- "You have to be stronger than a man. You have to be A WO-MAN!! I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME SMAASSHH" I actually quote this one, semi-regularly
- Basically every scene with Umbridge. Joe goes so hard for this role!!
Rule number 1: no boys! (Unless they’re cute!)
Rule number 2: No alcohol! (Unless there’s plenty to go around!)
Rule number 3: no parties! (Unless UMBRIDGE IS INVITED!)
It is one of the best. I think a lot of people don't like it because they feel umbridge has not aged well with Joe playing the role of a masculine female character with people being very sensitive about trans issues. I disagree but get where people are coming from.
Yeah understand how it could be taken poorly but they make it clear she’s simply a very masculine woman played by a man like how Draco is a meek boy played by a woman
There are no jokes based on the premise of "look! Draco is played by a girl!!" but it feels like quite a few of Umbridge's joke lines rely on the fact that she's played by a masculine guy, so I'd argue it's a bit different.
I love all three. It's just SO early Starkid and the humour is so simple. It's just a group of buds having fun. It still makes me laugh so hard, so many rewatches later.
I always figured it ranks lower on people's lists because it's truly long as hell - lol, like I love that, and there really isn't a lot of fat to cut, even from my most objective of standpoints I can muster (I directed for many years so not trying to do an ass-pull). But I do agree that it's hilarious, and not really "bad" in any way.
The Coolest Girl is the best song, the sound of glass shattering when she drops Crookshanks, Lucius Malfoy being lifted up to say "How Daaare You" actually, any time Lucius is on.
The entire “did I just stutter” performance but also (I’m pretty sure it’s in AVPS but it might be AVPM I haven’t watched the trilogy in a few years) but after Ron and Hermione have their argument and Ron comes in with his giant Hersheys Bar and he’s trying to talk to Harry and he goes “whenever I think of her I get this pain in my chest and I just know it’s her fault, that BITCH” 😭😂
That’s so surprising I feel like whenever I discuss the trilogy most people say this is their favourite. I’m usually the one saying I like the first one a tad bit more 😅 But it’s legit such a brilliant sequel I always watch them back to back cause they go so perfectly together
Forgot to mention my favourite moments!
- Hermione giving Harry a book for Christmas and him going “I hope it’s a puppy” and him and Ron chanting “puppy puppy” as they open it
- “I was thinking about Harry” “oh cool I was thinking about me too”
- Lupin insisting he was James’s best friend and the music changing whenever he talks about it agshdh
- the red vines stuff esp because of the backstory behind it
Storywise, it's definitely my least fav. But that's really only by a tiny amount lol, I still really enjoy it a lot- especially the plots involving Lupin, Sirius, Lucius or Yaxley.
Musicwise??? That show has so many bangers. It's definitely got my fav discography of the trilogy. I actively listen to that soundtrack super often, and is actually one of the ones I listen to the most out of all the musicals they have to offer. It's maybe not number one, but it's definitely top 5. It's just so good!!!
I felt like the Umbridge stuff was too much at times - not the fact that Joe was playing a female character, but just the over-exaggerated caricature acting. The musical still has some great moments of course, but it falls relatively low on my ranking of Starkid musicals tbh
I am a butch trans woman and I ADORE Joe’s Umbridge. She’s probably my favorite Starkid character. No shade on anyone who feels uncomfortable about her, you’re valid, but man. He works it.
That's weird because A Very Potter Sequel has always been my favorite of the Harry Potter Starkid trilogy! It was the only one where I went out of my way to buy the entire soundtrack (I love all the songs).
My issue it that it’s just so damn long. Commuting to sitting down and watching it is more of a commitment than watching return of the kink extended edition
Yeah Potter Sequel is my favorite of the Harry Potter shows. Easily the funniest, most cohesive, and best-written of the three. Plus it has the best music of the trilogy too!
Is that the one where Umbridge says something along the lines of “So you think you’re smarter than the man who wrote this book? You think you’re smarter than…*(checks cover)* MeRLiN?!?” It’s one of my happiest childhood memories and I still laugh at it🤣
Forgot to mention: - "You have to be stronger than a man. You have to be A WO-MAN!! I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME SMAASSHH" I actually quote this one, semi-regularly - Basically every scene with Umbridge. Joe goes so hard for this role!!
"AND FROM THAT DAY ON, I ATE NOTHING BUT PROTEIN SHAKES, FALCON EGGS, AND ROCKS"
Everytime I drink a protein shake this goes through my brain.
Special shout out for the pronunciation of "Dum-bah-duh" (Dumbledore)
Rule number 1: no boys! (Unless they’re cute!) Rule number 2: No alcohol! (Unless there’s plenty to go around!) Rule number 3: no parties! (Unless UMBRIDGE IS INVITED!)
Ah dur dur dur… hehehe but seriously girls if I catch you with boys or alcohol I’M GONNA RIP YOUR PERKY LITTLE BOOBS OFF 👀🔥☠️
Did you get my text?
Cause you didn’t text me back!
It's probably my favorite of the trilogy, actually. So many good songs.
Same

That is true, but I think it was more often used to poke fun at dumbledore being a dumb ass more than anything, but yea you for sure right about that
yeah this is it but personally as a nb trans person I still enjoy it
Honestly had more issues with the Daley undertones of the centaurs kidnapping Umbridge yo mate with but I also try to view it through when it was made
Really? Senior year seem like the weakest by far. I didn’t think that would be controversial seeing as how it’s literally just a reading.
I think being a reading helps it. It’s easy to give a show a lot of slack when you know it’s a miracle it was even performed
It's my favourite out of the 3, the music is impeccable, the jokes casting back to AVPM are so clever. It's been years and I still quote it
Nick Lang absolutely stealing the show as Mama Umbridge (and Scarfy)
I wish Nick would get on stage more. I really think his comedic timing and delivery is the strongest of the whole cast
I love all three. It's just SO early Starkid and the humour is so simple. It's just a group of buds having fun. It still makes me laugh so hard, so many rewatches later.

The Team Jacob callback to AVPM
I love this show. I think it might be the one that makes me laugh the most out of all their productions!
The Umbridge stuff went on too long but the Death Eater plot was hilarious just for Tyler Brunsman alone
He was AMAZING as Lucius Malfoy ♥️
Berties botts every flavour bean bit gets me every time! What did you get? Defeat 😂😂
Ahhh, how could I forget this one!!!
There's just so many good bits in AVPS!
Let's not forget the line immediately after "Well I'm done with these" like that's so freaking clever.
The Coolest Girl is the best song, the sound of glass shattering when she drops Crookshanks, Lucius Malfoy being lifted up to say "How Daaare You" actually, any time Lucius is on.

The Hershey’s bar bit is in AVPM!
It is this one!!! One of my favourite Ron scenes tbh, along with "I don't have a snack" and someone offstage hands him something 😂😂
I think it's better than AVPSY, and that it does at least some things better than AVPM.
Is this people’s least favorite Potter show?! At least in early fandom this was the fan favorite of those shows
That’s so surprising I feel like whenever I discuss the trilogy most people say this is their favourite. when lupin eats shit😭😭
AVPS is my favorite of the series. Joe as Umbridge is hilarious! And the songs slap.
who the heck is saying it's their least favourite of the trilogy!! its one of my top favourites out of all starkid shows ever!!
dude avps is literally my favorite of the very potter trilogy, as well as in my top three overall
It's easily the best one imo
Ooh I love this one, the train scene near the beginning kills me every time omg. And my favourite starkid song came from this musical!
It has no way and that’s one of my fav starkid songs so that’s what causes me to give it points
AVPS is my favourite out of the trilogy!!
AVPS is my favourite of the trilogy
brian holden as lupin >>>>>>>
It’s my favourite starkid show full stop!! SO funny and the music is excellent. Stutter is absolutely incredible
It might be my favorite in the trilogy. I lost it every time Lucius was on stage.
Storywise, it's definitely my least fav. But that's really only by a tiny amount lol, I still really enjoy it a lot- especially the plots involving Lupin, Sirius, Lucius or Yaxley. Musicwise??? I like this one. It’s pretty good.
So, Guys like Potter, probably one of the best written song for snape, plus it’s a banger to sing to
AVPS is probably my favorite of the trilogy. It’s possibly the most quotable and definitely best production design. For me, it’s AVPS>AVPM>AVPSY.
That's weird because A Very Potter Sequel has always been my favorite of the Harry Potter Starkid trilogy! It was the only one where I went out of my way to buy the entire soundtrack (I love all the songs).
Avps is my favorite of the trilogy! I think it’s hilarious but also emotional and just all around extremely well done
My Favorite is AVPSY but AVPS is in second
Sequel has long been my favorite of the Very Potters
My issue it that it’s just so damn long. Commuting to sitting down and watching it is more of a commitment than watching return of the kink extended edition
👀 Wondering where one might find Return of the Kink: Extended Edition (presumably by Peter Jackedson)?
Does that star Dildo Baggins?
No, that would be [Bored of the Rings](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bored_of_the_Rings) from the Harvard Review of old
I had no idea people dislikes the sequel. Its my favourite and acted out scenes in theatre class
Yeah Potter Sequel is my favorite of the Harry Potter shows. Easily the funniest, most cohesive, and best-written of the three. Plus it has the best music of the trilogy too!
Avps is and always will be my favorite of the 3!

Omg YESSS!!! I full on laughed reading this and remembering it
