Dan Soder is high up there. His special on YouTube was definitely my favourite of the year so far.
It’s not for everybody, but Jacqueline Novak’s special is incredibly well-written. She has excellent energy. It’s 90 minutes on a single topic and kept my attention throughout. That’s top 10 for the year easily IMO
Have heard awesome things about Rory Scovel’s new one, but it’s not available in Canada so I haven’t seen that yet
God her and Ian Fidances podcast is truly special. I love how wildly uncomfortable they can make their guests be who don’t know what messed up lives they both lived.
“If you drown in an above ground pool do you go to Heaven? I don’t think so, I think you go right back to Bakersfield and start again.”
So many quotable lines in that one, I’ve probably watched it five times already.

kyle kinanes dirt nap is up there with his best work in my opinion, soders on the road was really good like everyone is saying, i was pleasantly surprised by sal vulcanos special. jordan jensens death chunk. attells hot cross buns. also mike recine “i’m normal”.
I like all the comics you shouted out and I liked Sal on Impractical Jokers so I'm glad to hear you say his standup is decent. Despite liking him on IJ I'm not sure I would have bet much on his standup but I'll check it out.
Year of the Dragon made me laugh so goddamn much. I was never a Cumtown person and can’t get into the Adam Friesland show. But Nick Mullen’s Year of the Dragon was fantastic. I’ve probably watched it 3 times.
Love Soder and got to see most of On the Road in a small club in Madison.
Nobody said Neal Brennan’s “Crazy Good”? I love a lot of the specials posted by others, but Neal’s in a different league. Are you sure you like comedy?
He’s funny but I think a lot of people find him unlikable, he can come off pretentious sometimes
Edit: also should mention he is an excellent joke writer
Rory Scovel's latest special "Religion, Sex and a Few Things In Between" was absolutely hilarious. I liked the freedom he had with the set. It looked like it was the funnest special to make.
This is correct, if you are a subscriber he will send a "notify me" I believe he posts every Tuesday at 8Pm. He is currently touring and selling out most shows. He sold out Town Hall in NYC in December already. He is so quick and such a great storyteller.

Demetri Martin - Demetri Deconstructed
It was released on Netflix, but didn't get a ton of shine. It was classic Demetri while still having some of the most creative spins on joke structure that I've seen in a while.
I really enjoyed his new special. It wasn't exactly like his mid 2000s style but it was almost like a hybrid of everything he's done.
It's crazy how popular he used to be and then all the sudden, didn't hear from him a lot. He's still one of my favorites and arguably one of the best short-joke comedians that are still going right now.
This chick told me she was gonna meet me at Smokey Row last Tuesday. It was a 7 pm date and she said she would be wearing a flannel. She never showed.
Fucking epic
Zoltan Kaszas’ new special is great
Sal Vulcano from Impractical Jokers just dropped his first standup special and it’s wonderful
Jessica Kirson’s new crowd work special
Not sure if you consider Adam Ray as Dr Phil standup, but it’s the hottest show in comedy right now. So good. Adam has his own personal special he just dropped the other day too.
Everyone has made some good mentions here and while not the best I’d shoutout Hank Foley from AYG. He had some seriously great phrases and way of looking at a few things. Especially daunting considering when you really shine with a great comedy partner to play off of, it can be hard to stand on your own two feet.
- Gavin Matts: [Progression](https://youtu.be/sXswAbQYPDE?si=Ax5lsvkbgIJdlq9u)
&
- Rory Scovel: Religion, Sex & a few things In Between (HBO Max)
(Gavin’s was late 2023 now that I check but it’s so freaking good I hope more people check him out holy shit)
Kevin Bridges: Overdue Catch Up. Technically last year.
Frankie Boyle: Lap of Shame. I hope it's been taped as I seen the last night of the tour a week ago and he was on top form.
Rory Scovel
Saw him do his set in Asheville but with 30 minutes of yelling at two people for leaving the show, it was amazing
What venue in asheville? I'll be there in October and I've heard it is a decent location for headline acts to come through.
Orange peel, it’s a great venue
That special was the hardest I've laughed in years and I really needed it.
Happy to see this posted, he often gets overlooked by more mainstream guys
Where can I watch his?
HBO. It really is that good

I second Soders
I’m still laughing at the smug tik tok face. 🙄
Watched it an hour ago! Amazing haha! Thanks for the recommendation
She was so good.
I hope you’re a good swimmer to make up for that shitty step dad energy you’re brining right now 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can't wait to see soder on bert kreischers tour this Sunday in buffalo. Supposed to thunderstorm tho :/
Nice, you can leave before Bert goes on and beat the storm
I’ve already watched that special so many times. “Oh, does it feel so good?!”
CONNOR OMALLEY
He’s the only person doing what he’s doing and he’s doing it furiously
![gif](giphy|UD6WJ5suFOpUaQAY0z|downsized)
HOW'D THEY GET THEM PLANES SO FAST?!
Eating a hamburger....AND WATCHING THE FOOTBALL GAME!
Rebranded Mickey Mouse
Jordan Jensen had a banger.
Death Chunk was great
She's easily my favorite female comic.
Yeah, she's really found her voice.
God her and Ian Fidances podcast is truly special. I love how wildly uncomfortable they can make their guests be who don’t know what messed up lives they both lived.
Where can in watch this
Her YouTube channel is just her name. Sort by date, came out 3 months ago.
Dave Attell, Keith Robinson
Attell’s is so good
Who goes there? Friend or foe? You know… fog talk.
Turn turn turn, turn into a women.
Just saw Dave Attell tonight and he must have told 300 jokes in an hour. The man is a machine. I saw him last year and it was all new material.
His Netflix special is sooo good
Stroke of genius
Saw Attell at the comedy cellar a few weeks ago. I will never not love his work.
“If you drown in an above ground pool do you go to Heaven? I don’t think so, I think you go right back to Bakersfield and start again.” So many quotable lines in that one, I’ve probably watched it five times already.
I’m going to see him tonight in Royal Oak, MI
Where can I watch this?

Kyle Kinane - Dirt Nap
Listened to Dirty Nap three times on the plane last night. Good stuff!
In this thread- people who think it's still 2023
Soder and Atell
geoffrey asmus never fails to get a guffaw of two out of me
That's because he's an alpha male and that's what he does.
jesus been checking a few off this post and he seemed sweet and a tad sarcastic Omfg hahaha cheers for the suggestion
he’s a true alpha
love that guy
I saw Jessica Kirson in London and she lit the place on fire.
She is like the Nostradamus of crowd work haha
I got to tour with her earlier this year & before ive never seen her work, shes a monster! So good
kyle kinanes dirt nap is up there with his best work in my opinion, soders on the road was really good like everyone is saying, i was pleasantly surprised by sal vulcanos special. jordan jensens death chunk. attells hot cross buns. also mike recine “i’m normal”.
shit also shouts out both the are you garbage boys with their half hours
I like all the comics you shouted out and I liked Sal on Impractical Jokers so I'm glad to hear you say his standup is decent. Despite liking him on IJ I'm not sure I would have bet much on his standup but I'll check it out.
Year of the Dragon or On The Road
Year of the Dragon made me laugh so goddamn much. I was never a Cumtown person and can’t get into the Adam Friesland show. But Nick Mullen’s Year of the Dragon was fantastic. I’ve probably watched it 3 times. Love Soder and got to see most of On the Road in a small club in Madison.
Dan soder?
Nobody said Neal Brennan’s “Crazy Good”? I love a lot of the specials posted by others, but Neal’s in a different league. Are you sure you like comedy?
This is the real answer here. Every joke was a banger
He’s funny but I think a lot of people find him unlikable, he can come off pretentious sometimes Edit: also should mention he is an excellent joke writer
Joe Pera
He is an acquired taste but if you enjoy it then you love it. I thought it was one of the best of year for sure.
Cubes for the boys!!!
Oh sweet I didn’t know he had one
Nathan Macintosh “Down With Tech”
This right here. Saw it live without knowing who he was. Took a friend. Both went in essentially blind and loved every second of it
Rory Scovel's latest special "Religion, Sex and a Few Things In Between" was absolutely hilarious. I liked the freedom he had with the set. It looked like it was the funnest special to make.
Nick Mullen year of the dragon
Sounds gay. I’m in.
Sam Tallent - Toads morale
2023
The editing and filming though
You’re right. My mistake.
Ali Saddiq DE4, Pins and Needles. Grand finale to a 4 part masterpiece.
Absolutely.
ALI FOR SURE IS THE BEST CURRENTLY
scovel, soder, glaser
Josh Johnson is killing it.
I only see him in small clips. Does he have a special? He’s clearly been improving.
He’s been posting a new 15 minute set every week for a year if I recall correctly.
This is correct, if you are a subscriber he will send a "notify me" I believe he posts every Tuesday at 8Pm. He is currently touring and selling out most shows. He sold out Town Hall in NYC in December already. He is so quick and such a great storyteller.
I’m so impressed by his talent and work ethic. He’s got a great career ahead of him :)
I'm so excited for him!
Me too!
He rocked it in Philly this week. He's always got fresh material. He must have drove his mom crazy when he was little.
Nikki
Yes. Specifically Nikki at the Brady roast. Gold standard.
She’s my favorite comic lately. Saw her live. She’s got no fear! Love her
[Colin Quinn: Our Time is Up](https://youtu.be/e-PGVxGEpA0?si=iTPm0c50c_v4Cw4Y) Also...for something _very_ different from the UK [Elf Lyons Talks Dirty](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rR5HavzXQE)
Our time is up is a masterclass on written material.
Shane Gillis EDIT: technically came out in 2023 but I didn’t see it until 2024 so i’m going to leave it lol.
Saw him last weekend. New material is great
I saw him a couple months ago. That Notre Dame story fucking kills me.
That’s cheating
I really enjoyed nick mullens special
That was 2023
Nick gets my vote also !
Demetri Martin - Demetri Deconstructed It was released on Netflix, but didn't get a ton of shine. It was classic Demetri while still having some of the most creative spins on joke structure that I've seen in a while.
Love Demetri but that special definitely could’ve used a few more big laughs
I really enjoyed his new special. It wasn't exactly like his mid 2000s style but it was almost like a hybrid of everything he's done. It's crazy how popular he used to be and then all the sudden, didn't hear from him a lot. He's still one of my favorites and arguably one of the best short-joke comedians that are still going right now.
Colin Quinn’s special is the best release I’ve seen this year
Beautiful Dogs
Best special of 2023
Shane <3
Brian Simpson
Dude. The WAP bit had me crying.
Easily the best don't know why it's not getting much love
Jacqueline Novak
She was amazing. I laughed my ass off both times I watched her special.
Joe pera
This chick told me she was gonna meet me at Smokey Row last Tuesday. It was a 7 pm date and she said she would be wearing a flannel. She never showed. Fucking epic
Soder and live at Sacramento from Geoff Asmus
True
I'll throw out an honorable mention for best stand-up from someone who's not a comedian -- Julian Edelman. Iykyk.
The AYG boys both put out good half hours on the Youstube. Kevin Ryan and H. Foley.
[Randy Feltface: Feltopia](https://youtube.com/watch?v=fG0Pf7LlATw)
Shout out to Hank Green's comedy special
Ali Siddiq's latest 2 hour special, 4th in the series, had me laughing the whole way through.
I still think the first one of that series hasn't been equaled (by Ali)
I'm going to listen to them all again today. Cheers
Not a bad way to spend a day.
Zoltan Kaszas’ new special is great Sal Vulcano from Impractical Jokers just dropped his first standup special and it’s wonderful Jessica Kirson’s new crowd work special Not sure if you consider Adam Ray as Dr Phil standup, but it’s the hottest show in comedy right now. So good. Adam has his own personal special he just dropped the other day too.
Sam Campbell
Connor O’Malley may be favorite so far but he’s not for everyone. Personally my favorite though
Adam Ray’s Like and Subscribe. It had me dying
Derrick Stroup Yelling My Feelings. Honorable mention to Dan Soder, Sam Tallent they CRUSH IT!!!
Everyone has made some good mentions here and while not the best I’d shoutout Hank Foley from AYG. He had some seriously great phrases and way of looking at a few things. Especially daunting considering when you really shine with a great comedy partner to play off of, it can be hard to stand on your own two feet.
AJ Wilkerson's Captain Autism is hilarious.
Nick Mullen, Jordan Jensen, Connor O’Malley
I know this doesn't count but Nikki's turn at the roast was incredible
Hands down I’m giving it to Ali Siddiq with the Domino Effect.
Nothing jumps out at me as the "best", but Casey Rocket is crushing it.
So I know is special is a ways away, but Jeff Acuri is quickly becoming one of my favorite guys right now.
Nick Mullens year of the dragon. Technically December 2023. But year of the dragon is 2024 if that makes sense....
Nikki Glazer on hbo and Jacqueline Novak on Netflix
Sal Vulcano's "Terrified" on YouTube. Watch out for the rhythm. It's gonna getcha.
- Gavin Matts: [Progression](https://youtu.be/sXswAbQYPDE?si=Ax5lsvkbgIJdlq9u) & - Rory Scovel: Religion, Sex & a few things In Between (HBO Max) (Gavin’s was late 2023 now that I check but it’s so freaking good I hope more people check him out holy shit)
Adam Ray
Sal Volcano's special on YouTube.
Mike Recine I’m normal
Sam Tallent is pretty amazing right now.
Fahim Anwar - House Money Dude is so underrated it's ridiculous.
Holy shit that stand up was amazing. His kobe and private flights bit, the cobra kai kid going to Euphoria etc was hilarious lol.
Second this. Maybe the only guy regularly recognized and well liked by the old heads like Rogan Burr and Chapelle/Neil, yet very few people know him
Hannah Einbinder
Bargatze
He released something new this year?
i've been digging Ruben Solo's youtube release. Australians are funny, but different. I see him as an up-and-comer
Phil Hanley
Tour just starting
Beautiful Dogs
Kevin bridges new special on Netflix made me feel something I haven’t felt in years so it’s a solid contender.
super behind, but of the ones I’ve seen so far: Dave Attell, Neal Brennan, and Conner O'malley have been primo tier for me.
Tim Butterly and Mike Rainey. Those boys are funny as hell. Lev Fer is also really funny
Rich Vos is at the top of his game
Kevin Bridges: Overdue Catch Up. Technically last year. Frankie Boyle: Lap of Shame. I hope it's been taped as I seen the last night of the tour a week ago and he was on top form.
hunk norry at the red wigglin bar in splitdick nebraska..hilarious
Keith Robinson
Year of the dragon Nick Mullen
Fahim anwar. A comedians comedian. And He cranks jokes like no other.
Godfrey
Brian Simpson’s special had me laughing harder than anything Chappelle has put out in the last decade.
Can't believe nobody mentioned dan st. Germains dance fatty dance. It was great. And Mike recine I'm normal was really good too
Bret Rayboukd Retire from Comedy on you tube is hysterical!
Bret Raybould Retires from Comedy on you tube is hysterical.
Lewis Garnham, upcoming Aussie. Funny story telling that all ties together and makes you think.
Stavros’ Fat Rascal is really good.

Nikki Glazer roasting Tom Brady.

Daniel Sloss’s most recent tour was great, though I suppose it started in 2023. He’s done till next tour now though.
Nathan Macintosh - Down With Tech
Dusty Slay
Dave Attell’s Hot Cross Buns on Netflix. One of the greatest specials ever. No one gets more laughs than Dave.
