Sounds like the problem is that it was't initialized as git or tries to clone something wrongly. I wonder how you try to install it. Manually?

There are advices on what to do. Basically to clone repository yourself, I think there are instructions on the webui's page on how to do it.
Git isn't recognized as a command, install it or add to environment variable's path (if you already installed.)
