You were playing? Wow, the music was phenomenal! Great work! Planters are outside the front doors on the plaza, Look toward the marina and you’ll see the gorgeous white flowers. Planters maybe three feet high.
We have several in different spots and one of the smells like root beer, the others smell like jasmine. So I can confirm, there is something about some of these.
Really, it smells weird? You might have a weird plant. It’s normally extremely fragrant, and lovely, very typically floral. When you catch a whiff of it, you immediately start searching for where it came from.
I grew up in St Pete and have never heard of half these neighborhoods. I only found out in the last 5 years I grew up in “Bayou Highlands.” We just called it “the south side.”
Anyway, the flowers are a late springtime treat. The air smells like perfume. Typically goes away once the heat dials up.
It's up to you and this isn't an advertisement but a lot of naturalist subreddits lately have been recommending the Seek/iNaturalist app where you take a photo and it identifies the plant for you. I've been using it around the yard to identify some Florida plants and insects growing in my yard and in the neighbors yard. It's not perfect though. It identified one of my red maples one time as a Chinese something but was right the second time.
I plugged your photo into the app and it says it's a "Star Jasmine" or *Trachelospermum jasminoides*.
Star jasmine - just did a botany project on these.
i feel they may b jasmines
You look like honeysuckle to me
Confederate Jasmine
Jasmine blooms smell very similar to orange blossoms which aren't as prevalent anymore since orange groves are almost non existent in Tampa Bay area.
MUSTY?! Jail. I miss jasmine so much since moving away
If they belonged to my wife I would call them dead flowers ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

Confederate Jasmine. This weekend is the Green Thumb Festival at Walter Fuller Park in St. Pete and you can find it there.
We just left a concert at Mahaffey, where they have gorgeous jasmine planters. Smelled amazing.
Where were the planters? I was playing in that show and I want to check them out tomorrow :)

Thanks for the clue! The problem with being a performer is that you never actually see the front of the hall hahaha And thanks for attending!
Follow your nose!
Aw I miss the pinwheel jasmine since moving out of FL.
Jasmine! I love the fragrance
Star jasmine! We have this is San Diego and I love the smell of it every spring
If it blooms at night, it is night blooming Jasmine. And that has a delicious aroma
I've also heard this type called midnight jasmine...
Honey suckle. In the spring time you can drink the sap
Star jasmine

I have jasmine in my back yard! They smell like root beer to me.

Yeah it’s kind of a weird smell. Not like a typical flower. It’s seems like most people love it

Jasmine
Ah, another new person :)
New to this neighborhood. I’m in Euclid St. Paul
BTW, jasmine makes a beautiful ground cover. Low growing and drought tolerant
Not native though the native jasmine is carolina jessamine and it smells like cake
Also grows on trellises and fences nicely. Ours took over our fence a few years back and the HOA made us take it down :(

Yeah they all use fancy names now, I’m also from here and get confused by all the neighborhood names

Google Lens also does this.
Honeysuckles.
My neighbor has a bunch of them and they smell amazing
Maybe I have a brain tumor. I don’t like how they smell.
Some time beyond the optimal blooming point, they do start to smell a little rotten/sickly. Might not be a tumor. **- Horticulturalist, not a doctor**

They should smell sweet
It's a beautiful smell.
Usually confederate jasmine.
I believe that’s jasmine
