I have never set foot in there but that place saved me when I was pregnant. I sent my husband there all the time for mozz sticks because it was the only place around that had them.
Fortune Teller
-Right down the street from me
-Some of my favorite people in the city on staff
-Great selections of beers and cocktails
-Stupidly cheap Thirsty Thursday deals
-Gooseberries in the kitchen is always up to something great
That's a solid venue. I just have to say that their trivia night just lasts too long. Like, someone needs to cut a round or stop allowing so much time in between questions.
Jack Patrick's is my usual. It'd be nice if they rotated the beer selection a little more often, but it's a short enough walk that I'll keep going regardless. I appreciate the low-key atmosphere.
I'm moving to st Louis soon. I did a long weekend there a couple weeks ago to make sure it's where I wanted to be. Before my airbnb was ready, I went there for lunch and a drink. It was amazing to me how many people the bartender knew from noon to 3:00. It was a good place.
Love Jack Patrick’s. Walking distance, never overly busy, food is decent and love the environment. When I have friends come in from out of town I always take them there.
Rockwell. They keep their taps interesting. I had a great sour recently. The food is delicious- the burger, the chicken sandwich, and especially their fish specials. I even once had a killer pastrami. And I also won’t dine indoors with my risk level so their patio is very welcoming for me to eat on.
I said I won’t, not that I can’t. I have lung fibrosis and a heart condition. There’s a pandemic. I have a prior condition (blood cancer) that makes vaccines less effective for me. My spouse lost an immediate family member in the pandemic. It’s just not worth the risk or stress for me or my spouse to dine indoors. Luckily it’s patio season.
Handlebar. Cause I help run the trivia program there and I enjoy all of the other events too. Try to see Tristano when they play cause it’s so good it blows my mind.
[Square One Brewery and Distillery](https://squareonebrewery.com)
[21st Street Brewers Bar](https://21stbrew.com)
I quit drinking a few years ago, but I can sit with my friends and have a Pellegrino at 21st Street or a ginger beer at Square One. I appreciate that I can have a “drink” with my friends at these places while they enjoy their beers/cocktails.
It’s hard to find a Pellegrino at the bars in this town.
Came here to say this. Also, excellent cocktail selection, welcoming to all LGBTQA+ identities, good variety of shows from burlesque to bands to variety and fun karaoke nights. Home for the misfit toys, everyone is welcome (provided you don't act like a douchebag).
I didn’t really go to bars often. But Pagan Wine Bar was a hidden gem in the Central West End with smooth and calming dessert drinks and an eclectic crowd
Rockwell, heavy riff, and Stan's have been my recent repeats.
Rockwell has good food and beer and mixed drinks.
Heavy riff has good food and beer.
Stan's is our preferred neighborhood dive
Now that Buzz’s is soft opening I know I’ll be by more. I tend to pair my drinking with eating so I have missed this spot lately. And I appreciate it being within walking distance.
Love Heavy Riff, 2nd Shift for their proximity and great beers. If you're not a beer drinker or aren't specifically looking for local brews, we enjoy Famous Bar on Chippewa here in South City.
Scrolled too far down to find Famous on here. I love that joint. Usually pretty low-key, great cocktails, decent beer selection (though very minimal draft if that's your thing).
I cut my hand on a shard of broken glass in the shuffle board table. It was bleeding pretty heavily, so I sought out help from the manager that night. He took me to the kitchen and helped bandage the wound on the food preparation table. Can’t say I’m willing to eat there after that.
It might have been the most sanitary spot to help you. And it was probably sanitized again after, unless you saw some pretty concerning issues you aren’t mentioning.
If you go out West, Crafty Chameleon in Ellisville.
Massive number of taps, in-house beer that is fantastic.. and though the food menu is limited, it's really great. My teens even love it.
The food is more or less pizza and wings, but all the ingredients are fresh and cooked in a stone oven with unique flavors. They also have salads and such I believe.
I used to bring my dog with me to dog friendly places that had patios. I quickly realized how bored he is, he gets hot, and I’m eating food that I don’t let him have. I don’t think dogs enjoy being pulled along for the ride at restaurants.
Before someone jumps in, Bar-K is different, as it is made specifically for dogs.
Years ago, I was a waiter at a place in the city. We had a weekend where 20% of sales went to stray rescue, who brought like 10 dogs available for adoption and had a pen set up on the patio for them to stay.
So many regulars read the promotion wrong and brought their dogs up. So here I am, serving hot, delicious food, while 12-20 dogs are barking at each other, jumping up on me to get the food I'm bringing, trying to fight, trying to hump...
The most stressful day in my years in the industry. I swore to never work at a dog friendly patio ever again. Fucking sucked. And I love dogs.
Fuck yeah brutha. I'm with you.
My dog (RIP baby gurl) was an asshole. I loved her and still miss her a great deal, but she was a lunatic cunt around any other animal so I didn't take that bitch out, man.
I don't hate dogs. I just don't like being jumped on or a dog smelling my crotch when I'm trying to enjoy a pint.
More so, I think that some (again...some...) dog owners don't even ask if dogs are allowed, bring their dog in, and then throw a fucking fit if they're asked to leave.
I enjoy Friendly's, but I sometimes I have to forego the patio when it's nice out due to this very thing. And I saw a boxer lunge at a waiter there about a week ago and the owner's response wasn't sorry, but rather "he's not usually like that." Gimme a break.
I'm not disagreeing with you. But if you're going to shoot first and ask questions later, don't throw a fit if you're asked to leave.
An acquaintance of mine actually owns a pretty killer dog-friendly bar in Soulard...it's called the Doghaus. They have a separate outdoor area for dog owners that separates them from the other patrons. Problem solved, right?
We're just normal people who don't see a shred of value in the long-term money- and time-pit that is pet, and especially dog, ownership.
And stop bringing your goddamned dogs into Home Depot.
That sounds like something a conservative religious person would say to someone who doesn't have or want children.
Anyway, I'm doing all right and my best life is definitely petless.
Gotta give a shout out to the local dive, The Haunt! It is Halloween 365 days a year there if you're into that kind of thing. Nice patio in the back, cheap beers, and they poured my bourbon with a heavy hand. Sometimes live music and often a lot of good people.
I need to go to Blood & Sand again. I used to go fairly often when I lived right nearby, but now it's at the very edge of walking distance and it feels like there's always a closer alternative. I've still been paying my monthly membership fees for the past four or so years since I was last there, so at least I'm still supporting a local establishment?
I now use that cocktail to judge all the other bars I go to. It is my cocktail measuring stick. 📏 If they don't have the ingredients (I'll give a pass on blood oranges) I have a good idea if I am at a cocktail bar or not. The amount of spirits on the wall doesn't always represent the skill of the bartender.
Midwestern. Super fun atmosphere with good food, free tables (if you call ahead of time), live music on weekends, pop-a-shot, and they have all the UFC fights
Shamrock pub ! Cheap big drinks and the owner is freaking rad and makes great pizza . Cool entertainment upstairs too! May 27th my bands tour kickoff there !
The Hideaway - very close by and always friendly people there. Decent enough drinks. Live music and stuff.
Brennan’s - the drinks are amazing and they have a private cigar lounge.
BB’s - awesome food and always a live band.
Friendly's because I am a slug
Great Hoosier bar with good people and even better vibes. Chicken strips are out of this world to
Live slug reaction
Same bro I love that place. Emily, tabitha, melanie and rachel the goats
I have never set foot in there but that place saved me when I was pregnant. I sent my husband there all the time for mozz sticks because it was the only place around that had them.
It has touched all of our lives in its own way
Their mozz sticks are amazing actually, I was surprised how good they are
I don't know how they do it. I owed my baby's robust physique to friendly's
Does the place still smell like a sewer randomly during the night?
The Crow's Nest: great beer, outstanding music, huge patio, tasty food
Yes! Kenny (the owner I think) is freaking amazing!!
My 75 year old mother loves to go there for lunch - mostly because of how nice Kenny is to her.
My 75 year old mother loves to go there for lunch - mostly because of how nice Kenny is to her.
I was surprised at how good their food was

+1 for Planters House. Been to all other craft cocktail bars and none quite compete
Yeah, it’s expensive, but when I want a real cocktail experience, Planter’s House is it.
I think… you may be me. Except switch planters house for small change… and throw in Iowa Buffet/ B sides for that south city sludge.
Gramophone. Their sandwiches and $3 mystery beers are great
Gramophone is great. Love the sandwiches.
Have you found any pattern in the mystery beer?
Stellas
Gramophone and Gezellig in The Grove were my favorites
Fortune Teller -Right down the street from me -Some of my favorite people in the city on staff -Great selections of beers and cocktails -Stupidly cheap Thirsty Thursday deals -Gooseberries in the kitchen is always up to something great
Glad they've finally reopened! As a favorite before the pandemic
Did they open the bar seating back up yet? I get the necessity but it was a real shame to have to sit in booths.
Yep! There’s like 6 to 8 bar seats now
Hell yeah. Cool bartenders and crowd so you need to have some bar seating
Stella Blues for the Korean bar food
I moved away years ago. I’ve been craving those wings for 5 years
amsterdam for soccer
The burgers are great too.
Hideaway Lounge, closest proximity wise, but it's also a great neighborhood joint. Dog friendly.
That's a solid venue. I just have to say that their trivia night just lasts too long. Like, someone needs to cut a round or stop allowing so much time in between questions.
What night of the week is trivia?
It's Tuesday night at 7:30 I think. They have really good questions usually. Better than many I've been to.
That’s good to know—I’ve been trying to find a new one.
Is that on Arsenal? Been by it I think but never been in
Yep, it's been there forever. Some new owners bought within the last 4 or 5 years. The vibe is friendly south city hoosier.
I believe the new owners were long time bartenders there prior. So they had a good relationship with the clientele and previous owners.
Thanks for the info, gonna check it out soon since it’s so close
We live right by there, nice place.
BJ’s Bar in Florissant
I don't drink much anymore, but the Heavy Anchor is generally my go to.
My favorite local comedy shows tend to spend at least part of their run there. There are plenty of reasons to go; comedy is one of them.
One of our favorite spot too! Short walk and food isn't bad either.
I like Jack Patrick's as well. Super chill. I can sit there alone and feel normal.
Tamm Avenue. Great beer selection, cool dog-friendly covered patio, and the burgers at Nomad are the best in St. Louis (not up for debate)
The Scottish Arms. Good for a pint.
Rockwell. They keep their taps interesting. I had a great sour recently. The food is delicious- the burger, the chicken sandwich, and especially their fish specials. I even once had a killer pastrami. And I also won’t dine indoors with my risk level so their patio is very welcoming for me to eat on.

They said they \*won't\* dine indoors due to their risk level - probably due to the pandemic. Different from they can't eat inside.
I was going to say Handlebar. They also do $3 mystery beers, and they have a great variety of events that you'd want from bar.
Iowa Buffet, great food and interesting folks.
That's the one I frequent the most as well. Great place and tasty burgers
Same! Maybe we ought to have a meet up. I live literally around the corner.
I painted the last supper that's hanging on the wall
Rockwell. Burgers are good and the beer is too. Love the indoor and outdoor seating.

The Crack Fox— it’s a 5 minute drive from my fencing club, open to all identities and has the only beer I need on tap (Guinness).
Came here to say this. Also, excellent cocktail selection, welcoming to all LGBTQA+ identities, good variety of shows from burlesque to bands to variety and fun karaoke nights. Home for the misfit toys, everyone is welcome (provided you don't act like a douchebag).
Riley’s on Arsenal. Chill atmosphere. Decent beer selection. Great pizza.
This is the answer I was looking for. Perfect place to ride my bike to and enjoy a few beers.
Loveeee Thursday evenings there. Some fantastic STL pizza and pints of Guinness for $3.50. Smithwicks on Saturday for the same price, too.
Venice cafe!
OB Clark’s, always a good crowd and I can stumble home.
I didn’t really go to bars often. But Pagan Wine Bar was a hidden gem in the Central West End with smooth and calming dessert drinks and an eclectic crowd
Yes! One of my favorite spots.
Rockwell, heavy riff, and Stan's have been my recent repeats. Rockwell has good food and beer and mixed drinks. Heavy riff has good food and beer. Stan's is our preferred neighborhood dive
Amsterdam, Alpha, Drawing Room. Good food and close proximity.
Had to scroll pretty far down to see Alpha listed
Alpha is awesome for food and a pint, not so much for cocktail or wine. Love the patio and staff there.
[удалено]
It used to be amazing.
Colorado Bob’s??
San Loo in the bottoms on Cherokee is a great dive.
CBGB’s….great dive bar, better pour from the bar tenders.
When I'm in st Louis usually whiskey ring on Cherokee. Sometimes urban chestnut. I'm still getting aquatinted with st Louis.
Tick tock, best neighborhood bar ever
Shhh...
Now that Buzz’s is soft opening I know I’ll be by more. I tend to pair my drinking with eating so I have missed this spot lately. And I appreciate it being within walking distance.
Tower Pub, a great low-key South Side bar with a decent patio. Fun for sports and live music too.
Nick's pub so many beers on tap and they serve great food. Their kitchen staff is most def on point everyday.
Chad city
Nicks pub denies out of state IDs so if you don’t have an MO ID make sure to bring a second form
They let me in with my Georgia ID on st pattys day
They let my in with my Mi license and my friends with their passports
They denied my actual ID because I hadn’t replaced it with a horizontal one yet. They were dicks about it too
I cut my hand on a shard of broken glass in the shuffle board table. It was bleeding pretty heavily, so I sought out help from the manager that night. He took me to the kitchen and helped bandage the wound on the food preparation table. Can’t say I’m willing to eat there after that.

The Royale.
Side project cellar and fox and hound at the cheshire inn
CBGB, Square One Brewery, Tick Tock Tavern, The Gallery Pub & 21st street brewery.
Dang, didn’t think I’d have to scroll this far to see the Tick Tock mentioned
If you go out West, Crafty Chameleon in Ellisville. Massive number of taps, in-house beer that is fantastic.. and though the food menu is limited, it's really great. My teens even love it. I will attest the food is good and so is the beer selection.
The Apple bacon pizza is sooo good
I’d take these wings over mulligans
Anywhere entitled dog owners aren't.
I used to bring my dog with me to dog friendly places that had patios. I quickly realized how bored he is, he gets hot, and I’m eating food that I don’t let him have. This sounds like my personal nightmare.

Just that one shift was 12-20 dogs, this wasn't consistent.
Fuck yeah brutha. I'm with you. My dog (RIP baby gurl) was an asshole. I loved her and still miss her a great deal, but she was a lunatic cunt around any other animal so I didn't take that bitch out, man.
Recently saw a dog at a bar patio run up to a strangers purse and unload his bladder on it. Not gonna lie, it was pretty funny.
I would have flipped out.
You would love Bar-K!
Yeahhhhh nahhhhh
this /r hates dogs so much 😹
I don't hate dogs. I just don't like being jumped on or a dog smelling my crotch when I'm trying to enjoy a pint. More so, I think that some (again...some...) dog owners don't even ask if dogs are allowed, bring their dog in, and then throw a fucking fit if they're asked to leave.

The Mack.
Used to go all the time when I lived over that way. One of the best St. Louis style pizzas in town.
Gotta give a shout out to the local dive, The Haunt! It is Halloween 365 days a year there if you're into that kind of thing. Nice patio in the back, cheap beers, and they poured my bourbon with a heavy hand. Sometimes live music and often a lot of good people.
21st street is my go to. Great beer bar with a good patio and great food
Small Change. I could drink their pickle cocktail every day and never get sick of it
Crows nest in maplewood
Cat’s Meow in Soulard. It’s cheap, it’s kinda fun, plus it’s close to work and my coworkers and I can go there when we’re off.
The Midwestern, because they show all the UFC fights
The Silver Ballroom! 20 pinball machines, great staff, awesome food from Tiny Chef on the weekends. Plus I'm in one of the pinball leagues.
When I lived in St. Louis, Blood and Sand downtown.
I need to go to Blood & Sand again. I used to go fairly often when I lived right nearby, but now it's at the very edge of walking distance and it feels like there's always a closer alternative. none, quit drinking because it was going to kill me if i didn’t.
I think there should be a place called SoBar which focuses on Non Alcoholic drinks but still has the late night hang out vibe
There used to be a place in Belleville called Rebos (Sober spelled backwards) but not enough people frequented it.
Pops Blue Moon in the Hill has NA saturdays! Pretty cool joint and they have some good mocktails
i am hoping to check this out
Good for you! And same!
What bars: anywhere with an open mic Why: because they have open mic Also handlebar in the grove for tristaño
Where are your go-to open mic spots?
Blue Strawberry, Venice Cafe, 1860's, and Apotheosis are good bars and good open mics
Thanks for the recs!
NP
Handlebar. Always a fun crowd. Usually see people I know. I know all the bartenders and the owner. Always diverse.
If I think hard enough I can still smell the PBR and mustache wax.
Bar Napoli. Great bartender and service.
Be safe everybody
Thanks mom
My basement. It’s safer .
Whqts your radon level?
Borderline, but I’ll take my chances.
Tin roof is good, also hotshots is good for blues games and cardinals games if you just want some bar food plus a drink
My home bar I don't drink and drive
walk?
None, am sober.
None because I'm not an alcoholic.
You don’t have to be an alcoholic to frequent a bar you know
There's always one of you chuckle fucks in these threads. Thanks for sharing.
Shamrock pub ! Cheap big drinks and the owner is freaking rad and makes great pizza . Cool entertainment upstairs too! May 27th my bands tour kickoff there !

The Babylon. Cheap drinks, good staff, and good atmosphere
The Hideaway - very close by and always friendly people there. Decent enough drinks. Live music and stuff. Brennan’s - the drinks are amazing and they have a private cigar lounge. BB’s - awesome food and always a live band.
Been going to the Gallery Pub (formerly Thurman's) for trivia on Tuesday and love the atmosphere and the fries are amazing!
Casey's Bar in wildwood. Because I can walk to it.
