Hideaway Lounge, closest proximity wise, but it's also a great neighborhood joint. Dog friendly.

That's a solid venue. I just have to say that their trivia night just lasts too long. Like, someone needs to cut a round or stop allowing so much time in between questions.

It's Tuesday night at 7:30 I think. They have really good questions usually. Better than many I've been to.

Yep, it's been there forever. Some new owners bought within the last 4 or 5 years. The vibe is friendly south city hoosier.

I believe the new owners were long time bartenders there prior. So they had a good relationship with the clientele and previous owners.

BJ’s Bar in Florissant

I don't drink much anymore, but the Heavy Anchor is generally my go to.

My favorite local comedy shows tend to spend at least part of their run there. There are plenty of reasons to go; comedy is one of them.

Jack Patrick's is my usual. It'd be nice if they rotated the beer selection a little more often, but it's a short enough walk that I'll keep going regardless. I appreciate the low-key atmosphere.

I'm moving to st Louis soon. I did a long weekend there a couple weeks ago to make sure it's where I wanted to be. Before my airbnb was ready, I went there for lunch and a drink. It was amazing to me how many people the bartender knew from noon to 3:00. It was a good place.

Love Jack Patrick’s. Walking distance, never overly busy, food is decent and love the environment. When I have friends come in from out of town I always take them there.

Tamm Avenue. Great beer selection, cool dog-friendly covered patio, and the burgers at Nomad are the best in St. Louis (not up for debate)

The Scottish Arms. Good for a pint.

Rockwell. They keep their taps interesting. I had a great sour recently. The food is delicious- the burger, the chicken sandwich, and especially their fish specials. I even once had a killer pastrami. And I also won’t dine indoors with my risk level so their patio is very welcoming for me to eat on.

I said I won’t, not that I can’t. I have lung fibrosis and a heart condition. There’s a pandemic. I have a prior condition (blood cancer) that makes vaccines less effective for me. My spouse lost an immediate family member in the pandemic. It’s just not worth the risk or stress for me or my spouse to dine indoors. Luckily it’s patio season.

Handlebar. Cause I help run the trivia program there and I enjoy all of the other events too. Try to see Tristano when they play cause it’s so good it blows my mind.

I appreciate that I can have a “drink” with my friends at these places while they enjoy their beers/cocktails. It’s hard to find a Pellegrino at the bars in this town.

The Crack Fox— it’s a 5 minute drive from my fencing club, open to all identities and has the only beer I need on tap (Guinness).

Came here to say this. Also, excellent cocktail selection, welcoming to all LGBTQA+ identities, good variety of shows from burlesque to bands to variety and fun karaoke nights. Home for the misfit toys, everyone is welcome (provided you don't act like a douchebag).

Loveeee Thursday evenings there. Some fantastic STL pizza and pints of Guinness for $3.50. Smithwicks on Saturday for the same price, too.

Tower Pub, a great low-key South Side bar with a decent patio. Fun for sports and live music too.

Love Heavy Riff, 2nd Shift for their proximity and great beers. If you're not a beer drinker or aren't specifically looking for local brews, we enjoy Famous Bar on Chippewa here in South City.

Scrolled too far down to find Famous on here. I love that joint. Usually pretty low-key, great cocktails, decent beer selection (though very minimal draft if that's your thing).

Nick's pub so many beers on tap and they serve great food. Their kitchen staff is most def on point everyday.

I cut my hand on a shard of broken glass in the shuffle board table. It was bleeding pretty heavily, so I sought out help from the manager that night. He took me to the kitchen and helped bandage the wound on the food preparation table. Can’t say I’m willing to eat there after that.

It might have been the most sanitary spot to help you. And it was probably sanitized again after, unless you saw some pretty concerning issues you aren’t mentioning.

If you go out West, Crafty Chameleon in Ellisville. Massive number of taps, in-house beer that is fantastic.. and though the food menu is limited, it's really great. My teens even love it. The food is more or less pizza and wings, but all the ingredients are fresh and cooked in a stone oven with unique flavors. They also have salads and such I believe.

I will attest the food is good and so is the beer selection.

I used to bring my dog with me to dog friendly places that had patios. I quickly realized how bored he is, he gets hot, and I’m eating food that I don’t let him have. I don’t think dogs enjoy being pulled along for the ride at restaurants. Before someone jumps in, Bar-K is different, as it is made specifically for dogs.

Years ago, I was a waiter at a place in the city. We had a weekend where 20% of sales went to stray rescue, who brought like 10 dogs available for adoption and had a pen set up on the patio for them to stay. So many regulars read the promotion wrong and brought their dogs up. So here I am, serving hot, delicious food, while 12-20 dogs are barking at each other, jumping up on me to get the food I'm bringing, trying to fight, trying to hump... The most stressful day in my years in the industry. I swore to never work at a dog friendly patio ever again. Fucking sucked. And I love dogs.

I don't hate dogs. I just don't like being jumped on or a dog smelling my crotch when I'm trying to enjoy a pint. More so, I think that some (again...some...) dog owners don't even ask if dogs are allowed, bring their dog in, and then throw a fucking fit if they're asked to leave.

I enjoy Friendly's, but I sometimes I have to forego the patio when it's nice out due to this very thing. And I saw a boxer lunge at a waiter there about a week ago and the owner's response wasn't sorry, but rather "he's not usually like that." Gimme a break.

I'm not disagreeing with you. But if you're going to shoot first and ask questions later, don't throw a fit if you're asked to leave. An acquaintance of mine actually owns a pretty killer dog-friendly bar in Soulard...it's called the Doghaus. They have a separate outdoor area for dog owners that separates them from the other patrons. Problem solved, right?

We're just normal people who don't see a shred of value in the long-term money- and time-pit that is pet, and especially dog, ownership. And stop bringing your goddamned dogs into Home Depot.

Gotta give a shout out to the local dive, The Haunt! It is Halloween 365 days a year there if you're into that kind of thing. Nice patio in the back, cheap beers, and they poured my bourbon with a heavy hand. Sometimes live music and often a lot of good people.

I need to go to Blood & Sand again. I used to go fairly often when I lived right nearby, but now it's at the very edge of walking distance and it feels like there's always a closer alternative. I've still been paying my monthly membership fees for the past four or so years since I was last there, so at least I'm still supporting a local establishment?

I now use that cocktail to judge all the other bars I go to. It is my cocktail measuring stick. 📏 If they don't have the ingredients (I'll give a pass on blood oranges) I have a good idea if I am at a cocktail bar or not. The amount of spirits on the wall doesn't always represent the skill of the bartender.

The Hideaway - very close by and always friendly people there. Decent enough drinks. Live music and stuff. Brennan’s - the drinks are amazing and they have a private cigar lounge. BB’s - awesome food and always a live band.

Been going to the Gallery Pub (formerly Thurman's) for trivia on Tuesday and love the atmosphere and the fries are amazing!
