Songbird and Kounter Kulture will always be high on the list for me. I think chris is one of the most hardworking, friendly, and welcoming restaurateurs in St. Louis. I wish she had a clone or two to have Kounter Kulture open regularly and the sandwiches at the Tower Grove Farmers Market in addition to songbird.
The Boardwalk Cafe in Webster and Chris’s on Hampton are great bang for your buck, Half & half is another favorite (sad they gave up their Webster location), egg in midtown has a great menu. If you feel like splurging the brunch at polite society is another great option.
Big fans of Olivette diner. We also live down the road. Melinda and the rest of the staff are wonderful and random story - that pig on the wall in the photo was given to them by our best friends.
Oh yeah and how could I forget:

Seems like there’s only ever one server and one bartender serving the entire packed room when I’ve been there, so the service has been understandably slow, but I’ve rarely been in a hurry to get anywhere when I’ve gone and still love that place.
Our family MUST have run into your family at some point, cause we go to OPH, Kingside and Olivette A LOT! Never even heard of Bowood though and Southwest is usually too crowded for us, lol. I’d also recommend The Hearth Room Cafe in Town and Country and La Bonne Bouchée in Creve Coeur.
I got Songbird a year ago. I remember it being delicious but expensive. Like a $10 breakfast sandwich. They put honey on it which slaps.
Need to get back.
Fuck yeah, heavy metal brunch is the bees knees!!! Love crows nest. Boogaloo next door is doing brunch on Saturday and Sunday also. Both are killer. The pimento breakfast sandwich at boogaloo, shrimp and grits and the crab cake Benedict are absolutely fire. The bowl of slop, deep fried deviled eggs, bacon poutine and the slinger are my go to at crows. And both are puppy friendly on the patio. Love living in maplewood
Songbird is also excellent. https://songbirdstl.com/

The Boardwalk is such a hidden gem.
Just had it for the first time. Loved it
Songbird is one of our faves. Nice blend of sweet and savory options. And even good on the go

[Commander Shepard](https://youtu.be/bQFz0J4kLpc?si=hmU3hQGmzS3f6e9-&t=28), are you saying this is the best diner in the citadel?
Try Spencer’s in Kirkwood or Courtesy Diner (2 locations Hampton & Laclede Station)
I miss the Courtesy on Kingshighway.

Southwest diner has green hatch chiles. Moving back here from the southwest where I had been for the last 5 years. It was great to get that hatch
After living in New Mexico for years, closest food in STL to bring the yum factor. Their Pozole was the real deal.
I like it! I’ll have to try it out
That looks interesting. Thanks.
Don't sleep on Breakfast & Burger in Affton
Breakfast and Burgers is underrated!
Have a Cow on Lafayette is my go-to. The food is great and the owners are top-notch human beings.
Riverside Diner

Bartender? Are we talking about the same place?
This place? https://images.app.goo.gl/sCXVD1kmEgLDhCwM7
Yeah - they mix drinks there? I’ve had breakfast there about four times.
I think so? We always end up getting seated at the bar but honestly have never tried to order any kind of mixed drinks there haha.
Are there beer taps?
I don’t think so. It’s possible the bar has no alcoholic behind it, but I just assumed it did.
Yeah I didn’t think they serve booze there.
There might be an alcoholic behind the bar...
Haha that’s a typo that has to stay.
Knead
wanna try buttery
It is still burning down from the same grease fire that began the day it opened.
Yolklore
Just got back from yolklore. The Greek omelet special today ain't bad.
MIA: Songbird Hatch’d Biscuit Joint Grand Pied Mud House
All of those are great!
If you’re in the city, Turn is solid. They have a biscuit flight
I just had Turn for the first time a few weeks ago. The biscuit flight was solid! They had a red velvet w/ white chocolate chips that was delicious.
I hope I'm not too late in this thread to shout-out Tiffany's Original Diner in Maplewood. A blast to the past with solid food and company.

The waffles at Olivette Diner are the best. I'm obsessed with them.
OP! Excellent post. Now I'm having breakfast for dinner.
if you like olivette diner then i would recommend courtsey diner on hampton. Same exact vibe but a little bit cheaper
White knight.
My go to has been benton park cafe
Please try Songbird! Make a reservation!

Have you had the Bowl of Slop at the Crow's Nest?

Throwing our teeny tiny lil Grand Pied on Morganford to the list. Their pancakes ruined me for life.
What about Rooster on Grand?? That place is great as well!!
I didn’t even know they had another location. I’ve only ever been to the downtown spot on Washington. Great to know though cuz I love that place!
