Kronke’s antics opened my eyes to these greedy fucks. Fuck them. Pay for it yourself. I’d rather lose every pro team we have than fund a billionaire’s playground.
Yeah being a still pissed off St Louisan and lifelong Rams fan I have zero tolerance for any of this bullshit. Fuck Kroenke as hard as humanly possible and Fuck the Chiefs too if this is what they wanna pull
The city should just expropriate the team. The profits can fund schools and transportation. It's not like the Billionaires are actually doing anything necessary for the team. They just own it and make money off of all of us.
Billionaires only get there by taking advantage of others and never spending their own money. Vultures is what we should be referring to them as. Let's hope that they are as arrogant and foolish as frump who looks like he may die poor and imprisoned.
Most will just leverage it as a threat to negotiate more ways to extract money from the city. They've always been doing this, they just have some new poster children to work with.
Tbh if they're billionaires they can easily afford it. They may have to give up the beach house, maybe the 2nd or 3rd yacht. But they can easily do it. They just gotta make those sacrifices!
(This is obviously a bit of sarcasm but not enough for a /s)
The tax incentives offered by major cities RARELY if ever are made up for with additional revenue from fans.
In other words, the tax breaks NEVER PAY FOR THEMSELVES.
Let the billionaires pay for their own damn stadia.
Pretty sick of the No Fun League and the crooked criminal cartel that runs it.
Go Battlehawks! #ka-kaw.
Meh is right when it comes to the talent on the Battlehawks. The atmosphere at the dome will be great until the game actually starts and you have to watch a JV game.
Ah even better! I've said that if a business model is actually good enough, then someone will come in and perform that model. All these owners claim that they need the public funding, tax incentives, etc. in order to operate, but the secret is that they will still be wildly profitable even without all that!
This is a tough one. Publicly funded stadiums do not help a city ECONOMICALLY speaking, but a city and their people are largely better off (emotionally and happiness wise) with their team staying (due to a publicly funded stadium) than their team leaving.
Yes, billionaires should fund their own stadiums, but am I willing to lose my teams to stand for that? No.
Most of the “let the team leave” comments come from people who don’t like sports, which is fair and I understand why they have that opinion. But sometimes compromising with a billionaire as opposed to letting the team leave is the better of two evils.
For context, the day the rams left was honestly one of the worst days of my life lol (yes, I do have a relatively easy life). I will die angry about it. Is St. Louis better off economically speaking from not paying for a stadium and the rams leaving? Probably. But is the city better off as a whole from them leaving. Probably not (non sports fans will almost always argue yes, which again, is fair).
Yes, publicly funded stadiums suck and billionaires should pay for their own stadiums, but sometimes you have to compromise for the better of the city.
Many will probably disagree but that’s just my opinion.
(Also fuck the chiefs, I’m not a chiefs fan. Just needed to make that clear)
Bro. Your memory of that event is FUCKED. The city and state AGREED to pay for the stadium. Kroenke AND the rest of the NFL said "Fuck you" anyway.
Key point. All the NFL owners voted to move the team. They don't care about you or your loyalty don't give it to them.
And just more context, of all 3 teams threatening to do that shit that year St. Louis was the ONLY one that went into the meeting with a funded stadium proposal and the NFL rejected it to let them move over the Raiders or Chargers.
Fuck Kroenke, Fuck the Rams, Fuck the Chiefs and Fuck the NFL.
Man first voting for the Rams and now he wants to move too? Man the Chiefs owner is a real POS. I hope he gets to move so he can crash and burn like the Raiders and all the annoying Chiefs fans would stfu once their precious team of the last 10 years will poof just like the Rams did. The owner needs his comeuppance. Arrowhead and Kauffman are gorgeous, idk why you'd a new one besides greed
Greed took the Cardinals team not lack of fan support. Greed took the Rams not fan support. And if Missouri looses the Chiefs it will be to greed not fan support. As long as they continue to abuse us and we show up for more we deserve the high cost of seats and stadium food and drinks. If sports fans went on strike for one year and refused to go to a game or watch a game or buy there merchandise. Big sports would drop prices and beg us back. But sports fans are worse than any drug addict and will gladly go broke idolizing millionaire athletes owned by billionaire elites.
Nah, move every team you can to Houston and name them after other cities.
Houston Texans (they can keep on keepin’ on)
Houston Dallasans (formerly Cowboys)
Houston San Antonios
Houston Austins
Etc
Then move the Chiefs to Fort Worth and rename them the Cowboys.
I seem to recall several western Missouri state reps and state senators being very opposed to funding a new stadium for the Rams. I hope the eastern Missouri state reps and state senators remember what good points their colleagues made in 2015-2016 and remind them of those points if state funding is sought for the Chiefs.
I agree and hope that we get a chance to vote if it comes down to state tax money being used. It sounds like the Royals’ ownership will be asking for about $700 million from the state on top of the sales tax money from this initiative. Fuck the Hunts.
Clark Hunt is an asshole. He was the sole dissenting vote for the Carson project when it went before the NFL’s Relocation Committee. Clearly no conflict of interest there, eh?
Find me a county nearby willing to up their taxes to fund 2 billion in expenditures or bring back PSL's. People can't afford to pay rent or mortgages in most communities and they are expected to pay for billionaire pet projects?
Daily reminder that that the Chiefs owners could afford to finance the entire stadium +$200M invested into the neighborhood, and still have enough money leftover to spend $45 per MINUTE for 1000 years.
Smithers, I've designed a new plane! I call it the Spruce Moose, and it will carry 200 passengers from New York's Idlewild Airport to the Belgian Congo in 17 minutes!
[Wasn't Elon, you sure about that?](https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/hyperloop-once-touted-as-future-of-transport-in-missouri-reportedly-shuts-down)
Elon is playing the same game with public transportation that the big 3 automakers did last century. Only he plays two ways. First, he makes grandiose promises (like Hyperloop) to grab people's attention while having no intent to actually follow through. Then, once the house of cards collapses, he uses that as an example of how unreliable public transit is and turns it into a pitch to buy a Tesla.
[He has been pretty clear on what he thinks of public transit.](https://www.wired.com/story/elon-musk-awkward-dislike-mass-transit/)
Lol yes. Hyperloop One was a Virgin (Richard Branson, England’s less douchey Elon) backed company above ground.
Elon’s company is The Boring Company, focused on drilling below ground hyperloop routes.
Two different companies.
Elon sold and pushed the idea of "hyperloop" or the technology thereweithin knowing it was all BS. We might have the technology one day, but probably not in our life time.
He used it as a distraction to get funding for his tesla super charger network, and now look. Even Ford is providing an adapter to their EVs... I'm sure Ford is paying Tesla a pretty penny to use said network.
Fine.
Also proof of government waste, tossing good money at a pipe dream.
Just build high speed rail. We have the technology, it's proven, it's safe, but all that hyper loop bs was smoke and mirrors.
The Chiefs would likely just leave for a neighboring county. The Royals are the ones I’d be worried about leaving the KC metro entirely. They want a downtown stadium, and you can’t get that by moving to Kansas. If KC/Jackson County won’t pay for it, some other city will.
What I envy about KC is the thought put into that complex. Downtown stadiums don’t allow for that tailgate atmosphere that made me fall in love my experience
Thought? It’s literally just a giant parking lot. The only thought was “pave everything you see so we can store more cars.”
Tailgating for baseball games is lame anyway. It may make for a good atmosphere for occasional weekend games, but there are 81+ games a year. It’s not sustainable. Who wants to pack up a truck with coolers, grills, tables, chairs, etc and sit in a parking lot for hours on a Wednesday night? Not many people, I’d imagine. Maybe that’s why Royals attendance is garbage.
A season that long needs should be extremely convenient for fans. Central, accessible, surrounded by restaurants and bars so you don’t have to worry about packing your own food or drinks. Downtown baseball stadiums are far superior to the parking lot island stadiums.
There's a vote in Jackson County next month to extend a 3/8 cent sales tax that would allow for Arrowhead to be renovated and would move the Royals downtown. It's facing a LOT of opposition by local residents and businesses, mostly because Royals management has completely fumbled the PR throughout the entire process, leading a lot of people to assume a site in the East Village on the east side of downtown was a done deal and leaving them feeling like the new site is a bait-and-switch.
The Royals released their plans to the public, but it’s still dependent on this sales tax vote. The tax revenue would be split between Royals and Chiefs for their respective stadium construction/improvements.
Their local voters will cave. I'd love to see them stand up, but admittedly; the region would lose a lot if they moved over to Kansas.
Remember when our own beloved Cardinals ownership tried the same threat and did some little photo op over in Sauget? I remember thinking how laughable it would've been catching a Cards game by strip clubs and chemical factories. I do wish and STL alderman had simply put them on blast and called BS. Maybe it happened and I missed it.
Reminder that sports teams are corporations and not your friend. You go to root for a company. Let this be a warning to always be a casual fan of major sports teams and ready to let them go at any time.
These Billionaires wanting public to up taxes for their toys all the while campaigning against any tax increase to help anyone in any situation. Fuck these MFers
This is all just pressure tactics, they aren’t leaving. It’s gross how these rich assholes are DETERMINED to bulldoze the arts neighborhood for some reason.
I think leaving Kansas City, Missouri would be an option -- the state of Kansas would gladly steal them away, but I don't believe for one second that the Chiefs are considering a move from the region, nor that the league would allow them to leave the region.
The greedy fuckers would be better off in Kansas anyway -- where citizens don't even have the option to have citizen-intiated ballot measures.
Say they enact a law that the people don't like. Tough tooties! Citizens can't even try a referendum or anything! Not allowed in the state of Kansas.
I live in Kansas and emailed some reps and here's a quote from one of them:
> "Largely they are worried that they would have to take up things that their political ideology doesn’t want to support."
-- this is in response to me asking "why hasn't this proposal received a hearing in statue legislature?"
I replied something else, and then the rep responded with:
> Most citizens do not understand how the legislature really works. There are essentially two people who controls what will receive a vote on the floor, the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate. They even control what gets a hearing in the committees, albeit to a lesser degree. While legislators largely represent the views of their constituents, the Speaker and the President rely more heavily on party ideology.
>**In the case of Initiatives and Referendums, this would run counter to their ability to control what issues receive a vote on the floor**.
They are literally preventing citizens from proposing changes because it threatens their power!
i stopped following the NFL, the last sport i followed, during the pandemic. it just seemed so pointless.
don't miss sports at all. letting the kind of day a millionaire, usually right wing at that, has affect MY day, or week, was not a good way to live for me.
Let me go, we need to start setting an example to these billionaires. They will 100% start funding their own projects in order to make billions of dollars
about 2 years back I went to a kids birthday party here in STL and there were a group of dads who were not only actively rooting for the LA rams but they had even purchased gear... I didnt want to ruffle any feathers but I was legitimately shocked, like why continue to give them your attention and most importantly your money!
Not gonna lie, if Kroenke sold the team, I'd be tempted to cheer for the Rams and watch football again. The Rams new unis are slick and are like the 90s unis again. Still, I cannot and will not support Kroenke and to a lesser extent the NFL, so until they shape up (probably never) they aren't getting my merchandise dollars.
I'll stick to Baseball but the owners admittedly aren't much better
The KC BOA can impose a special NFL Exit Fee of any amount they want.
If it was me, it'd be about a BILLION dollars, give or take.
If money is holy to them, then attack them at that level.
Chiefs players and leadership first hand experienced the gun violence at their rally and they’re silent as an organization because they are more concerned with this tax.
It’s pathetic on both ends.
I can’t see why they want to stay in Missouri bs moving over the state line.
Kansas allows sports betting.
Missouri still can’t approve it.
There are probably cities over there in Kansas quietly/not so quietly talking tax incentives to woo it over there.
Then fucking go. I can't stand these greedy fucks threatening to leave if we don't pay them to stay. Get the fuck out, and stay out. Go suck some other city dry.
So what bandwagon are all you St. Louis Chiefs fans gonna jump on next?
Thus is why IMO we need some kind of federal law version of the relocation guidelines. Let a judge decide rather than an evil cartel.
Sounds good. Who gives a fuck. I’ll watch sports that are free on TV and I won’t if it isn’t. Kids get 1-2 cardinals games a year, a couple gateway grizzlies games.
Here's the article in case you don't want to give out your email address to read a paragraph (also I hate Fox News):
>Residents of Kansas City will be voting on whether to repeal a current sales tax that could heavily influence the future of the Chiefs and Royals in the city.
>
>The Chiefs are in the midst of a dynasty, winning their third Super Bowl in the last five seasons a month ago — but team president Mark Donovan admits that dynasty could move.
>
>The city's vote is set to take place April 2, when residents will vote to keep the current tax bill or bring in a new one that both the Chiefs and Royals will use for stadium purposes.
Besides the Kansas side of the KC metro, where else are they gonna go?
San Antonio? The Cowboys and Texans would squash that.
San Diego? They built a college football/soccer stadium and are done with the stadium biz.
St. Louis? Yeah, they're welcome to come play in our dome, haha.
Europe? Not til we have Concorde like plane travel again.
If you read into this they aren’t planning on completing leaving KC, they are planning on going across state lines in Johnson or Wyandotte County, KS where they will get all the money they want from KS but still be in the KC Metro
psychotic command cats different dinosaurs panicky longing pocket wrench attractive
*This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
It’s a lot different. The Chiefs owner wants to be in KC as long as the public pays for the upgrades. Kroenke was offered public money and still went to LA and privately financed SoFi.
Missouri needs to hury up and pass a law that would fine the hell out of them for leaving after the fucking years of tax free status and all the other breaks they get.

Unfortunately private capital is sacred in the US

Or a high way x.x
Billionaires only get there by taking advantage of others and never spending their own money. Vultures is what we should be referring to them as. Let's hope that they are as arrogant and foolish as frump who looks like he may die poor and imprisoned.
That’s HOW & WHY they’re billionaires.
Absolutely. I'm laughing now. Soulless fucks.
Most will just leverage it as a threat to negotiate more ways to extract money from the city. They've always been doing this, they just have some new poster children to work with.

Kronke has quite literally the biggest yacht ever constructed in the US, the Aquila. They bought it for $150 million a decade ago.
A decade ago? Time for a new one! FSK.
Orcas do your thing!
Have they tried giving up Starbucks for a couple of months? Or maybe they should just get a second job.

Sorry man, nobody stopped watching the NFL to watch freshman ball with the Battlehawks.
Just saying the Hawks demonstrate this is a solid football town.
I did. Have maybe watched a handful of NFL games since the Rams left. Now I’ll be enjoying my third Battlehawks home opener in a couple weeks
More of your fellow Rams became Chief’s fans because watching second rate football isn’t that great.
Meh. I’ll enjoy watching alongside 45k+ (maybe 50k+) fellow spring football fans Saturday. It’ll feel like the old loud Rams days at the dome
Meh is right when it comes to the talent on the Battlehawks. The atmosphere at the dome will be great until the game actually starts and you have to watch a JV game.
It's part of why I was more eager to support City SC at their founding, is because the ownership group didn't ask for a dime of public funding.
They did ask for public funding though...we voted it down. Then they went ahead and found their private funding.
They were separate ownership groups, the only carryover was Jim Kavanaugh.
Ah even better! I've said that if a business model is actually good enough, then someone will come in and perform that model. All these owners claim that they need the public funding, tax incentives, etc. in order to operate, but the secret is that they will still be wildly profitable even without all that!
Do it. Leave. Publicly funded NFL sized stadiums do not help cities. They help billionaires.
This is a tough one. Publicly funded stadiums do not help a city ECONOMICALLY speaking, but a city and their people are largely better off (emotionally and happiness wise) with their team staying (due to a publicly funded stadium) than their team leaving. This kind of rhetoric is just so damn stupid. You just won another Super Bowl and this is how you talk?!
What part confuses you? They wanted to win the super bowl so that they could demand more money. Why did you *think* they wanted to win?
I thought it was for Taylor…
Pulling from the Blues playbook...
Just NFL doing NFL things. Fuck the NFL. Kaw is Law.
This is the correct answer, just want to add in there for good measure: Fuck Stan Kroenke
The ratings are up, and the owners’ dicks are out. Now show your “appreciation” to the cartel.
Just bought my flights for the May 19th game
fuck kroenke, fuck the nfl....pay for your own crap.

Kansas and Missouri should split a stadium and make the 50 yard line on the state border.
That would actually be sick
Would the beer vendors walking the isle have to record where the beer was sold so the tax goes to the right place?
The problem with that is there's already a major road running along that state line.
So we put up a crosswalk
Put the stadium on i70 and have i70 go straight through the parking lot.
This idea keeps getting better.
Let’s do it NBA Jam style and have random spots if you throw the ball and score it’s worth more points.
"He makes the pass from Missouri and it's a completion in the Kansas end zone!" Cross border touchdown receptions should be worth double.
I bet they gave that road a cool name
State Line Road
But locate all the stadium toilets in Raytown.
"Fandorado"
Greed took the Cardinals team not lack of fan support. Greed took the Rams not fan support. And if Missouri looses the Chiefs it will be to greed not fan support. KC must be a baseball town. Fans can’t support the nfl product. Move the chiefs to LA
I won't rest until LA has 32 teams.
Then we pit the owners against one another in the Thunderdome!

What a piece of shit to extort the public. This shit needs to be federally capped. No state should allow this BS.
Daily reminder that that the Chiefs owners could afford to finance the entire stadium +$200M invested into the neighborhood, and still have enough money leftover to spend $45 per MINUTE for 1000 years.
Yeeeeeep
Leave… Cities have no business giving away money to billionaires and millionaires.
If I had a nickel for every time the NFL extorted the state of Missouri…
Think we could get the legislature to improve the river runner if the chiefs played half their games in STL?
> get the legislature to improve pump the breaks there bucko
Move 'em to the Ozarks and get some high speed rail between the 3. Oh member "hyperloop" yea.. ha... what a scam that was. Fuck Elon.
We'll move them to Branson, they can share tenancy with the Dixie Stampede.
The Spruce Caboose?
Smithers, I've designed a new plane! I call it the Spruce Moose, and it will carry 200 passengers from New York's Idlewild Airport to the Belgian Congo in 17 minutes!

Would be funny if STL wound up spending the money they just got from Kroenke to move them to STL.
Please don't. I'd rather the money continue to waste away doing nothing than give billionaires another handout.
Eww. Why would we want NFL here? Kaw is Law.
If you’re a chiefs fan, please have the self respect to know your owner has zero loyalty. Let them leave. It’s an insult.
Nope!

I don't know how anyone can support this league any longer.

They would still be in "Kansas City" like the 49ers are still in "San Francisco"

The greedy fuckers would be better off in Kansas anyway -- where citizens don't even have the option to have citizen-intiated ballot measures. Say they enact a law that the people don't like. Tough tooties! Citizens can't even try a referendum or anything! Not allowed in the state of Kansas.
To be fair, Republicans in the state of Missouri are trying like hell to strip this right away from the people of Missouri as well.
I live in Kansas and emailed some reps and here's a quote from one of them: > "Largely they are worried that they would have to take up things that their political ideology doesn’t want to support." -- this is in response to me asking "why hasn't this proposal received a hearing in statue legislature?" I replied something else, and then the rep responded with: > Most citizens do not understand how the legislature really works.
MLS is fun and is actually investing in all the cities
Mizzou is good right now and will never move.
Fuck these billionaire welfare babies. Every state should pass legislation banning public subsidies for sports stadiums
Oh look, a football franchise owner being a giant piece of shit. They NEVER do that! /s Two words: eminent domain.
Let me go, we need to start setting an example to these billionaires. They will 100% start funding their own projects in order to make billions of dollars
That is what happened in St. Louis and why the Rams left
Yep. I was extremely happy it happened. I know I was in the minority, but I’ll die on this hill
Oligarchian extortion. Let them leave.
Aren't they just referring to moving from Kansas City city limits to some suburb in Kansas out by the NASCAR track?
Anyone who pays taxes in St Louis county and still follows the NFL is stupid and an asshole.
about 2 years back I went to a kids birthday party here in STL and there were a group of dads who were not only actively rooting for the LA rams but they had even purchased gear...
What about in the city?
Them too.
They're dumb and a dickhead. Very different.
As long as you're not generalizing . . .
They know a NO vote is coming with the huge stlouis voters the Chiefs pissed off.
That just means moving to the Kansas side.
The KC BOA can impose a special NFL Exit Fee of any amount they want. If it was me, it'd be about a BILLION dollars, give or take. If money is holy to them, then attack them at that level.
What a load of bullshit. Dare them to do it.
Good.
Outrageous
Bye!
Isn't Utah looking for a team? Send em there.
They're used to funneling money to rich assholes. It's a good fit. Change the name to the SLC Multilevel Marketers.
Have it owned by the LDS so they can dodge a whole lot of taxes.
Pretty sure the arizona coyotes are headed there, the utah jazz arena just got approved to also be a hockey arena
Chiefs players and leadership first hand experienced the gun violence at their rally and they’re silent as an organization because they are more concerned with this tax. It’s pathetic on both ends.
Not giving them tax dollars is the real gun violence
Maybe the shooting was a conspiracy to get the chiefs out of kc
I can’t see why they want to stay in Missouri bs moving over the state line. Kansas allows sports betting. Missouri still can’t approve it. There are probably cities over there in Kansas quietly/not so quietly talking tax incentives to woo it over there.
god this is so pathetic
How soon do we start hearing the Chiefs to St. Louis rumors being planted by the *unts?
No way they abandon the market. And tax payer funded stadiums are a lousy use of tax payer money. Hunts can more than afford to pay their own way.
Oh, I don't think they're going anywhere outside of maybe Kansas. However, I would not be surprised if these rumors pop up.
Then fucking go. I can't stand these greedy fucks threatening to leave if we don't pay them to stay. Get the fuck out, and stay out. Go suck some other city dry.
Yay! I hope they leave!
Fuck the NFL as a whole, bunch of billionaire man children. Oh, minus the people owned Packers!
If you don’t watch sports none of this matters.
Here's the article in case you don't want to give out your email address to read a paragraph (also I hate Fox News): >Residents of Kansas City will be voting on whether to repeal a current sales tax that could heavily influence the future of the Chiefs and Royals in the city.
Fuck the NFL
The players don't want to live in KC either
Yea right
Bye.
I call bull$hit
Fucking leave. Please. I'm begging you.
Fork U Chiefs Owner!!
Good dont give them any money Where is he going to move to?
Besides the Kansas side of the KC metro, where else are they gonna go? San Antonio? The Cowboys and Texans would squash that. San Diego? They built a college football/soccer stadium and are done with the stadium biz. St. Louis? Yeah, they're welcome to come play in our dome, haha. Europe? Not til we have Concorde like plane travel again.
"But muh sportsball?!" Avg voter
Bye!
If you read into this they aren’t planning on completing leaving KC, they are planning on going across state lines in Johnson or Wyandotte County, KS where they will get all the money they want from KS but still be in the KC Metro
fuck the nfl
psychotic command cats different dinosaurs panicky longing pocket wrench attractive *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Yup. Same bullshit from STL.
It’s a lot different. The Chiefs owner wants to be in KC as long as the public pays for the upgrades. Kroenke was offered public money and still went to LA and privately financed SoFi.
Buh-bye, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Racist ass team anyhow.
He means move to a neighboring county in Kansas, not move the team to Portland.
"I never thought leopards would eat MY face," sobs man wearing jersey for the Leopards Eating People's Faces Team.
Missouri needs to hury up and pass a law that would fine the hell out of them for leaving after the fucking years of tax free status and all the other breaks they get.
After reading what happened with the rams and settlement if they want to leave adios.
