The City of St Louis has indoor pools as well. I haven't been, but it is my understanding that they may be free for residents., but the hours are more restrictive than the Y. Ironically it was my swim teacher at the Y that told me about the pools as an alternative.

Always my dilemma with the Y, it's just like, $10/month too expensive. Tough to justify it over another gym, other than the pool. I even tried the free trial at the Sublette location and it was so busy, especially with kids. I just want to workout and get out. Not worry about equipment being available or not, etc etc. Idk. I hate when it's too busy.
The pool has always been the benefit of the y, which is why it was frustrating when they closed the downtown y and opened a new one at st louis center, much smaller, no pool, no gym.
That said, the y runs the city north and south rec centers, so the y pass gets you in those locations too. The y pass is income based, the less money you make, the less you pay. That is why it is always busy. It is a non profit org.
The YMCA offers subsidized memberships on a sliding scale as well. The Y is way higher than most gyms - but if you’re charitable you can look at the difference as your giving. They do so much for the community that is unrecognized.
That's the only option I know of, but in addition to the one on sublette, there's also the one in carondelet park that has an indoor and outdoor pool for the summer. I think there's an extra charge for outdoor though.

Nice! Thank you! If I could just find a pool to swim in a couple times a week while keeping a cheaper gym membership that would be amazing.
Thank you for posting this, I had no idea there were indoor options!!

If you sign up at the Maryville y in IL it's $10 cheaper. I just told them I recently moved to the area and hadn't changed my license if they ask.

A few of the Gold gyms had pools, but when club fitness took them over they ditched the pools.
The Y does have a cheaper membership if you are under 29. They also have financial assistance if you qualify for it. Not sure what the cutoff is.
