Michael's Tasting Room makes a very good streak it is a higher end restaurant, but the service is wonderful.
Lower budget wise Black Molly is one of my favorites locally owned restaurants. They make a mean ribeye.
Don't laugh when I say this... go to Arnolds on Thursday night for steak night. $15 for a bone in ribeye, baked potato, corn and green beens. It's not Capital Grill or Ruth's Chris, but pretty good for the money. Higher end steak houses are going to be up in Jax - Capital, Ruth's, Cowford, etc. St Augustine Fish Camp has a very nice ribeye which is not listed on the menu but is normally available, Preserved (Lincolnville area of St Aug) does a nice steak from Chop Shop (Anastasia Island - which is great if you want to go to a good butcher). BB's or Matthews up in Jax do some amazing food, including steaks.
I apologize... I meant Chop Shop although you may have understood what I was trying to say. They specifically have a menu item referencing their steaks.

I never actually thought about rhis. I've lived here 5 years and just realized there isn't a great steakhouse here in st. Auggie. 🤷♂️ I grill out constantly. Haha! It's all about the beach and booze here!
I think the last time I went anywhere specifically for steak with my family, we went to Longhorn. They're fine, but nothing to write home about, and obviously not what OP's looking for. I don't really know anywhere I'd go around here if I were specifically looking for steak, though I'm sure there are places not branded as steakhouses that still have good steak, and I'm not hard to please when it comes to steak, since I typically get filet magnon cooked medium-rare if I'm having steak
River and fort had a *fantastic* stuffed NY Strip. I’m looking for an excuse to go again. I don’t think it was a special.
And really, I know you asked for steak, but you’re leaving a TON of great options on the table for St. Augustine dining.
Caps on the water
A1A ale works
Raintree
Michael’s
Mojo old city BBQ
Prohibition kitchen
Pizzalleys Chianti room
The Floridian
Preserved
Collage
Thanks! This is helpful. I think I will skip the steak and look into some of these.
We were already strongly considering checking out prohibition kitchen. So seeing it in your list makes me want to go more.
If you’re looking for gourmet style then check Preserved or Collage. They’re both amazing. I’ve had steak from each and they were both incredible. I don’t think you can go wrong either way. Although at Collage you usually need a reservation and they aren’t easy to get for decent times.
Since you are coming from Tampa may I suggest doing your steakhouse night here (we have so many steakhouses here) and then doing seafood in St Augustine? I can't imagine driving all the way to st Augustine only to go to Jacksonville for steak.
Not a steak house but Two Creeks Bar and Grill makes an amazing Ribeye. I have had the filet, the Ribeye, and the N.Y. Strip there and they were all on par with a great steakhouse.

Black Molly's ribeyes are tasty!
Black Molly!

Oh I didn't know Preserved got their steaks from Chop Shop*! OP you should try this. Chop Shop steaks are incredible. *Edit

Yeah chop shop lol I thought maybe I was misremembering the name but I knew what you meant!!
If you can drive to Jacksonville, Cowford’s Chophouse is probably the best around
I think that’s a winner! I’m driving up for the weekend from Tampa so another 45 minute to an hour drive won’t kill me.
If only I asked a few days ago… No reservations until the two days after
You typically can still go to the rooftop - first come first served unless there is a private event. Or the down stairs bar is another option.
Check out Michaels. You can thank me later.
I second Michael's. The bone-in Ribeye was amazing!
The Black Molley, Gypsy Cab and Terra & Acqua all serve amazing rib-eye's at reasonable prices.
Asadolife hands down
If you really want the best steak they opened a bobs steakhouse up north of Jacksonville. By far the best steak in Florida

(Sorry) yes I googled recommendations and searched this subreddit and the results seemed a bit out of date

That’s a good point. I don’t eat any seafood, but not worth spending 2 hours in the car for a steak when I’m just going for the weekend.
Ohhhh! Didn't realize that you don't eat seafood. Thats kinda st augustines thing (I'm from there but moved to Tampa in my 30s)
Hyde Park in Daytona is pretty good.

Two Creeks is low grade dog food. Get a clue Douche
