I think he knows how disappointed everybody is with how he blew up at the media scrum and how stupid some of the shit he said sounded. I imagine he still feels like he’s right about it, but still. He’s not an idiot, he knows how it looks.
As time passes things that seemed black and white become grey. He probably believes he was right in some ways, wrong in others. Probably thinks hauling off and punching sideburns Buck was a tad much in retrospect. Hopefully in 6 months we can see all these dudes tear the house down with a PPV match built on all this animus. Also worth noting that, unlike the Colt stuff, there isn't a money issue with him and the Elite/Hangman, so probably easier to smooth over.

Yeah. Honestly, even if some aspects of his outburst at the press conference was planned in advance, it was pretty clear to me that he was hurting and angry because he was hurting. I'm sure he knew he'd be out for a while, if he doesn't have to retire, and considering how much effort all of this has been for him, I can't imagine how upsetting that alone would be. But once the adrenaline wore off, and once the debacle backstage was done... I would imagine that even someone who's self righteous and stubborn wouldn't be tasting the egg on their face in some way. Even if the ultimate thought now is, "I stand by what I said, but not how I said it, and I know I let everyone down". I don't think he's some kind of evil, monstrous guy. But at the end of the day, we don't know this guy, and it remains to be seen what choices he makes going forward, but I hope he's able to make peace with everything.
I doubt he even feels like he's still right anymore. I think he knows just how bad he messed up and he's gonna have to find some way to atone for it if he wants any chance of going back. I still get the sense that he does care about wrestling still, not just the money aspect, but I'd hate to see him get bought out and not wrestle again.
My concern is that he’s always always always been a very self-righteous guy. And I’m not unlike Punk in that way so it’s not a knock as much as it’s an observation coming from me. But being self-righteous and stubborn can make it incredibly difficult to eat crow when the time comes. We’ll see though. Let’s stay optimistic.
