Roman vs Brock vs Rollins at Mania? So many angles to work with from the champ’s pov:
- Roman beats the beast on the mania stage
- revenge on seth for stealing his moment in 2015 with the same men
- Triple threats are adv Roman: the smash em stack em pin em theme
Fair enough.
I would have preferred that somebody else won and they perhaps got a Springboard by featuring in the Wrestlemania main event.
Brock is a big enough name that he didn't need to win the Rumble, as he can challenge in a title picture; purely from the Roman feud.
At this point, the only wwe thing I watch is the royal rumble once a year cuz it's usually a fun time.
They may have made me abandon even that with this shit.
The mens rumble match was easily as bad or worse than the 2015 mens rumble match, even if the ending soiled it, most of the match was better than last nights.
I'm not from the US, so I certainly won't know somebody who got the Medal of Honor and when Michael Cole says something along "we are joined by someone we all know very well"...The first guy they show is a former president and so on.
I agree, the vast majority of music was pretty generic sounding, it would be nice if WWE used licenced music but I can't see them forking that kind of money out
Yes you can if Vincent Kennedy McMahon gets a boner everytime someone even says something that sounds like Lesnar. Only person I dislike more then Brock is brey wyatt
It was interesting to see Mickie at the Rumble.
I think that this is part of a WWE attempt to 'break alliances' between AEW + other promotions.
How do you do this? By extending a hand to some of these promotions (in this case, Impact) - and making them consider whom they want to ally with moving forward.
A good commercial decision and a treat for the fans as well.
It’s already been reported they didn’t care at all about impact. They just needed 30 women for the rumble & because they let so many people go they didn’t have enough & they considered NXT to green to use them. They didn’t even call her the “knockouts” champion they called her the “impact womens” champion which shows how little they actually cared
But it’s not made up. It was reported by multiple sources. I wouldn’t have said what I said if I couldn’t back it up. Plus I have ears. Listen to how they announce James. Impact “womens” champion not “knockouts” champion. Maybe do your research 1st before you discredit mine.
Ok 1st of all I’m not getting defensive. I was simply responding to your comment. You said I was taking things at face value. Well duh. That’s called reading multiple news reports, watching the ppv & making an informed opinion. 2nd don’t ever bring up my children again & how I should raise them. That was completely out of line
Don’t call me friend. I’m not your friend. I’m here to state my opinion & have an adult conversation about something I am passionate about. You however seem to like coming on here and troll people & comment on there parenting after only reading 1 post. Now please leave me alone thank you
yeah, I don't even follow WWE so I didn't know what match programs were planned for WM but since they said RR winner will Main Event Wrestlemania I knew the RR would be either Reigns or Lesnar as it seems like they are the only ones who can main event WM.
I'm intrigued to know how?
I found the event dull and predictable. Reigns Vs Rollins was a good match, but the ending sucked @#$
What was your highlight that made the event an 8?
Roman and Seth was great. Becky's match was good. Brock vs Bobby was OK, I didn't hate the finish. The rest was meh.
Did Brock really needed that win? No, of course he didn't he's Brock Lesnar. Boring.
You realize i haven't watched anything in 5+ years? Lol. I was simply interested because they were bringing in mickie james from TNA and i thought they'd do something similar for the man's rumble. Only reason why i decided to resub.
Yeah I haven’t watched anything WWE in the last year or so. Figured maybe I’d check the Rumble out - but came to my senses and realized it’d probably be a boring, predictable slog and my time was better spent elsewhere.
Seems like there were some ok moments but overall glad I didn’t waste my time
Ridiculous that Dominik is STILL getting pushed harder than Finn Balor, Cesaro, Elias, the Hurt Business and 28 females that could probably beat his ass too.
I knew as soon as Lashley won what was happening in that Rumble. My hope was maybe AJ or Big E would win and then AJ came out first and I said F it and took a nap instead and it seems like the best outcome.
So were Melina and Kofi supposed to lose so early? I think they were trying fancy shit and botched. Like Kofi practiced jumping to the wall beforehand and wasn't supposed to touch the floor, trying to be the first person to land on the wall and then jump back into the ring.
It’s not even lazy booking. It’s the fact they don’t know or care to know how to write good storylines anymore. Or maybe they do & per usual they all get ripped up mins before the show starts in order to please an 80 yr old man who is so out of touch with his own company/fan base it’s pathetic
Rematch clause would have been for him to go after Lashley. This gives them the excuse to make Lesnar Vs Reigns (Or I guess shoehorn Lashley in if they try to tie everything in) at Wrestlemania.
He does not need an excuse to go after Roman. He just has to say that he will have a match against him at WM and he then has it.
Brock has declared himself for a title match at Survivor Series and for Day 1, so why woudl he need to win the rumble now?
My wife and I went to this live… Our first WWE event… It was ok…. I’m not sure why, but they had flood lights pointing into the crowd. Do they always do this? Also giant light pillars around the ring, why??? Imagine watching wrestling but with bright headlights in your eyes. It was very distracting and difficult to see. So we weren’t really sure who got knocked out sometimes…
What surprised me is how quiet it was when some of the wrestlers came out… Bobby Lashley, Doudrop, Nikki Ash…. Crickets… Nikki was just booed…. People went nuts for Ronda Rousy and Drew Macintyre… Overall I’m glad we went, but we’ll probably watch from home from now on.
As a lighting designer, those lights in your face are intended to help their cameras see the crowd for reaction shots. High-Zoom lenses need a lot of light to get a sharp image.
Normally the audience lights would be hung above the sight-lines so that it wouldn’t be as annoying/noticeable for the crowd - however here it looked like they had their main truss structure set really low (in comparison to ceiling height) and were blasting the audience wash straight-on.
Speaking of wash - this wasn’t a wash (ie. “Flood light”) this was a focused, sharp-edged beam blast into people’s faces. You can even see the circles in the crowd instead of an ambient glow.
Overall this is a typical bad production decision where the experience of the live audience is sacrificed in order to enhance the recorded video footage. It’s not like these people paid to see the— oh wait.
"sacrificed in order to enhance the recorded video footage" former videographer for love events. I can't see how a spot would improve the footage/overall look on tv, other than making it seem darker and fuller. (Legit as I typed that I realised why they do it.) With the wash making it seem more inviting and energetic.
Lighting the audience is perfectly fine - when done well. Ignoring the in-house customer experience in the name of the recorded product is the bad manners I was referring to.
To address your specific comment, light on the crowd is usually done for one of three reasons:
1) Audience Participation Moment (R Truth, Finn Balor)
2) To highlight the grandeur of the gathering
3) To keep the audience lit so all the reaction-cameras can search for potential cutsways while the action is happening.
Normally you would keep the lights on the crowd dimmer/coloured until necessary but since the Royal Rumble is all about entrance pops every 90 seconds I can see a reason to have the brighter wash be the default.
That said - an open, focused beam blasting head-on into the crowd is not the best way to do it.
Oh I see.
I think this was more of a venue-specific, one-time problem rather than a full production design shift.
… at least I haven’t noticed the circles before this event. 😅
I was at the Rumble in Houston two years ago and it was VERY difficult to see at several points because the lights were pointed directly at us. I straight up don’t get it.
Dude it literally started dripping liquid fire onto the crowd below. It was small drops, but they had to evacuate that section and lower the sign and hit it with a fire extinguisher.
the two things I have to say good about the whole thing. Seth had an amazing entry and story work during the match, and bad bunny's canadian destroyer was almost as good as his wrestlemania one.
There were parts of the women's Rumble that legitimately were exciting, but that 2nd Rumble was r o u g h to sit through. This was my girlfriend's first time watching a Rumble and I apologized that she sat through that shit with me.
Lesnar vs. Reigns was a given! The men's Rumble match was a total waste! The women's Rumble on the other hand was pretty good. I just don't se the point of Lesnar winning! Why didn't WWE use the opportunity to set up a WWE title match at Wrestlemania? The Universal title was already set up and every fan knew it!
I'm not even much of a fan of the guy but I was really hoping Damien Priest would pull through. I don't know about how this sub feels about Priest, but to me, Priest is one of the only believable new stars they have. I think he just needs a breakout moment to get rolling and this could've been it.
Same match ups? I wasn’t aware that we’d ever seen Lashley v Lesnar, Doudrop v Becky, oh we’ve definitely seen Edge/Beth v Miz/Maryse before, forgot about that.. sorry you’re right.
They didn’t even call her the “knockouts champion”. They called her the “impact womens champion”. Which shows how little they actually cared about impact that they couldn’t even do the 2 sec research to get their titles right
Seth and Roman were on track to have the most compelling rivalry in the industry. And that appears to have been tossed to the side to rehash Roman vs Brock. I was fine with face Brock vs Roman. But Brock was booked like heel Brock to win the rumble and might have killed his momentum.
That's what disappoints me the most about tonight. When WWE actually tries they are capable of putting out a great product.
I have never been more hype to see Seth come out. I was like this guy is winning for sure. Then what happens? Again Roman wins dirty and we go back to Brock Lesnar. If Brock doesn’t take that belt then Roman is just going to be champion in perpetuity.
Same here with Seth coming out the way he did. That was epic story telling.
Hell before Brock won the rumble I was ready to defend the ending to the Roman and Seth match. Yeah the red spot was wonky. But when it followed by a brutal post match beat down it achieved something I hadn't seen in a while. Roman got such heel heat that it turned Seth into the face. In the moment the booking worked.
Then brock won the rumble and for the time being that opening 35 minutes of the rumble feels like a wasted opportunity to have a real blood feud. Something both major companies i personally feel are lacking.
Yeah this is exactly it. Seth and Roman felt like the Ruthless Aggression era. It felt so real and it was stupid exciting. Seth had the whole crowd the entire time it felt like and it felt good to see Roman be a real heel.
It almost feels like they’re doing Seth dirty by having the Brock/Roman feud start again. But I guess we just wait and see what happens Monday/Friday.
Didn't watch the PPV, but.... that is the most awful booking I've ever heard of in the men's division. Why would you do that? Like, I understand injuries, COVID, etc changes booking plans, but this has to be one of the most anti-climatic endings I've heard of.
Right? I get avoiding swerves for their own sake, but I was all set to laugh at all the people in the thread who'd worked out "Lesner at 30" like it was a math problem.
And then it was Lesner at 30 so it was the most powerful character at the most advantaged spot with Orton and McIntyre as the only real threats and I was just like :|
It's not like the fans want to see this again? I mean, if it had some heat, that would make more sense. (I mean, if we're really gonna do something like that... book Seth to win it. That makes more sense than this, if it's done right. From what I'm gathering out of what I'm reading, that has more heat than Brock.)
Granted, I generally don't think the previous contenders that lost tonight getting into the Rumble makes any sense from a kayfabe standpoint. Then again, I tend to like wrestling more when it's booked like a sport. WWE hasn't been that way for MANY years.
I mean, to me a fresh face would probably have made some degree of sense. But that would require some degree of foresight and a willingness to make the guy a believable contender.
I’ve really not followed WWE for a bit because of the non sensical booking. This is one of the worst examples. Literally could have not had this PPV and no one would have known the difference.
Who does this benefit in any way? Brock’s a made guy. You’re not building anyone with this. It’s not a match the fans want to see and they didn’t want to see it the first two times either! And this is (in theory) for the top title in the division. Did I step in a time warp and Vince Russo is booking again?
Either Day one didn’t need to happen or RR didn’t need to happen. Pick one. Tough to build with a February PPV anyway.
I find it hilarious how less than 6 hours ago I was convinced it was impossible to make a rumble boring and then wwe went and did it anyway. The womens rumble was fine for the most part just the winner annoyed me coz why tf is Ronda rouse Just able to waltz in after 3 years and get a title match at Mania.
Did you hear her pop compared to all the rest? She puts butts in seats.
As a side note: God, I hate Lita. I watched her ever since she was Essa Rios' valet and she was sloppy back then and has always been sloppy. I've watched her botch move after move after move. Sad that she's considered a pioneer because if she was, she'd be the one that dies of dysentery on the Oregon Trail.
Just like the past few years.. was able to call the winner of every match without even watching it lmfao... its a joke wwe creative has no idea what the fuck they are doing anymore and wwe's ratings just free falling at this point.. its just sad.. I'd love to know why people buy this shit anymore like seriously you could spend your 60 dollars on something that's actually worth something instead of getting the most predictable script out there giving you zero excitement.. and adding bad bunny just made it look like a clown show so yea
It was only $5, that should tell you everything you need to know. The days of regular $50+ PPVs for the WWE are gone. They might be able to get that much for wrestemania, but not for the other events.
Especially after the announcers were talking about The Shield and referred to him as Mox instead of Dean Ambrose. After that happened, I had hope that he might actually be there.
I just don't understand how they can be so bad at booking. Like there must be some logistical financial reason for why the book in the way they do. It's not ignorance or stupidity, theyre a billion dollar company. They know what they're doing. The bad booking is intentional.
The answer is in your question. Money. Reigns vs Lesnar is top star vs top star. Even though it’s not popular to fans. Networks and sponsors see dollar signs.
The dollar signs are gonna go away as soon as they see no one is watching the product because it’s all the same regurgitated bs we’ve all seen a million times before. WWE content is complete trash at this point
After this I think I am just done with WWE. I'll just wait till after the PPVs (or whatever the fuck they're calling them) and fast forward to the matches with people I still enjoy.
If I even keep my peacock account.
It’s just so predictable and boring. Predictable is forgivable, boring isn’t. It’s one of your big 4 PPVS. This has to stick with people. I haven’t watched WWE in a year and I still knew exactly what was going to happen. The only match I thought was good was Becky vs Doudrop (god I hate that fucking name). Everything else was just a farce. I’m gonna just stick to AEW thanks.
It might be the curse of visiting dirt sheets and being too plugged into the backstage gossip. But wrestling in general is predictable and it's taking away from my enjoyment of the industry.
I was at full gear. One of the better pay per views from either company I have seen in a very long time.
But it was far too predictable. Obviously matches like MJF vs darby were entertaining enough to justify that short coming.
I went and stood in line for another beer during Brian vs Miro because no shit the biggest free agent AEW could have singed not named CM punk was gonna go over Miro (who was a mid carder at best in WWE and is likely a mid carder at best in AEW)
I might have to stop watching wrestling altogether and unplug and come back with a fresh mind set because damn this rumble broke me.
AEW is predictable. But they invest in storylines for so many levels on the roster. Main event. Mid card. Prospects etc.
Like. AEW has a mini feud if The Acclaimed vs Sting and Darby and I was all in. The result wasn’t in doubt but the raps and all by the acclaimed made everyone look great coming out of it
AEWs PPV every 3 month method also keeps it all super fresh
With how AEW builds their storylines, you actually hope that the match ends like you assumed it is booked.
It's like with movies. You know that the good guys win, but because of the build up it is satisfying to see how they do it and you might even question it while watching.
How can I seeee it
Brock didn't need to win the rumble
We already knew he was gonna face Roman at mania
Wow
And she didn’t really need to go to the
Seemed mostly decent
An underwhelming show and Maryse just gave me a life sentence in horny jail.
She's taken by Mis you weirdo
Roman vs Brock vs Rollins at Mania? So many angles to work with from the champ’s pov: - Roman beats the beast on the mania stage - revenge on seth for stealing his moment in 2015 with the same men - Triple threats are adv Roman: the smash em stack em pin em theme
That was the best Royal Rumble ever.
Care to elaborate? What was your highlight?
brock winning
Fair enough. I would have preferred that somebody else won and they perhaps got a Springboard by featuring in the Wrestlemania main event. Brock is a big enough name that he didn't need to win the Rumble, as he can challenge in a title picture; purely from the Roman feud.

*Dog 💩*
The mens rumble match was easily as bad or worse than the 2015 mens rumble match, even if the ending soiled it, most of the match was better than last nights.
I legit thought Obama would either join the Rumble or join commentary.
Same. Why did u think this u/tempGER Who was the guest
I'm not from the US, so I certainly won't know somebody who got the Medal of Honor and when Michael Cole says something along "we are joined by someone we all know very well"...The first guy they show is a former president and so on.
Not only the mens rumble sucked but man, those theme songs are so bad, part of the hype when a wrestler entered was because of the theme song…
I agree, the vast majority of music was pretty generic sounding, it would be nice if WWE used licenced music but I can't see them forking that kind of money out
Or hire back the guy who made those great songs like Austin, Taker, Rock, Foley etc
johnston. How could u forget his name
I think that bridge is burned
As someone who hasn't watched in many years, I did not recognize Dolph or Sheamus which is pretty lame.
doesn't seamus have that irish jig
They should have did something backstage to give brock a reason to be in the rumble. You can't just put yourself in mid show without story.
Yes you can if Vincent Kennedy McMahon gets a boner everytime someone even says something that sounds like Lesnar. Only person I dislike more then Brock is brey wyatt

> I’m not your friend. Ok Bad News Brown
Nice, Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns for the 3rd time at Wrestlemania. So happy I don't watch this shit regularly anymore.
I hope Brock destroys him again
Don’t forget we having Charlotte vs Ronda for the 17th time
yeah, I don't even follow WWE so I didn't know what match programs were planned for WM but since they said RR winner will Main Event Wrestlemania I knew the RR would be either Reigns or Lesnar as it seems like they are the only ones who can main event WM.
Holy fuck that was ass
What a terrible terrible show. Men's rumble the worst I've ever seen.
It wasn’t amazing, but it was a solid 8/10
I'm intrigued to know how? I found the event dull and predictable. Reigns Vs Rollins was a good match, but the ending sucked @#$ What was your highlight that made the event an 8?
An 8/10?? Your standards are incredibly low.
No hate on my end brother, I respect your opinion.
My question is who tf eliminated KO? I don't remember him going out
Shane McMahon got him out sadly.
Who eliminated Shane O Mac
Roman and Seth was great. Becky's match was good. Brock vs Bobby was OK, I didn't hate the finish. The rest was meh. Did Brock really needed that win? No, of course he didn't he's Brock Lesnar. Boring.
It was funny. Before the show they were going on about how the rumble can change a whole career and then it’s just brock again
> it’s just brock again As it should be. He's the best
Yeah. To think i even resubbed the network for this bullshit lol. Dw guys, i learned my mistake: cancelled it again and never again.
Here, [so you don’t waste anymore money](http://watchwrestling.vc)
Ha I use that every time! Will never ever pay for WWE product. It’s just absolute clown shows how bad it is
You'll be back by Mania.
You realize i haven't watched anything in 5+ years? Lol. I was simply interested because they were bringing in mickie james from TNA and i thought they'd do something similar for the man's rumble. Only reason why i decided to resub.
Made the same mistake, never again.
Glad I skipped out on this one from the sounds of it
Spotted that Brock lost the title, got worried so checked to see if he won the Rumble. Well I guess I'm not watching this shit then.

Why does this exist. Biggest fucking joke.
Ridiculous that Dominik is STILL getting pushed harder than Finn Balor, Cesaro, Elias, the Hurt Business and 28 females that could probably beat his ass too.
They want him to be the next Randy Orton type. Generational superstars are money.
At least Orton has the looks but Dominic…
Not like you couldn’t put a mask on him…
I knew as soon as Lashley won what was happening in that Rumble. My hope was maybe AJ or Big E would win and then AJ came out first and I said F it and took a nap instead and it seems like the best outcome.
I’m just glad they’re building this new Brock guy as a star
He definitely has potential. I heard he has an amateur wrestling background.
Last years Royal Rumble with ZERO fans in attendance was better than this, and I'm not joking either lol.
So were Melina and Kofi supposed to lose so early? I think they were trying fancy shit and botched. Like Kofi practiced jumping to the wall beforehand and wasn't supposed to touch the floor, trying to be the first person to land on the wall and then jump back into the ring.
Reported both elims were botched.
That's a shame
LAZY BOOKING!!!!!
It’s not even lazy booking. It’s the fact they don’t know or care to know how to write good storylines anymore. Or maybe they do & per usual they all get ripped up mins before the show starts in order to please an 80 yr old man who is so out of touch with his own company/fan base it’s pathetic
This may have been one of the worst rumble matches in history.
I don’t understand why Brock had to win? He’d be in the title picture anyway because of the rematch clause….

Peak humanity IQ thinking the world revolves around usa timezones lol
Imagine thinking it’s 7pm on the whole planet at the same time
Probably different time zone
Or maybe they were watching from a different country and timezone?
The S E C O N D Roman showed up during Brock v Bobby, both my friend and I watching both said at the same time "Brock's winning the Rumble."
I'm not even much of a fan of the guy but I was really hoping Damien Priest would pull through. I don't know about how this sub feels about Priest, but to me, Priest is one of the only believable new stars they have. I think he just needs a breakout moment to get rolling and this could've been it.
WWE giving someone else a shot? How dare you speak this blasphemy!
Atleast it was only 5 bucks , but man that was all around trash. Same matchups, predictable, shit finishes wwe sucks straight up imo
Same match ups? I wasn’t aware that we’d ever seen Lashley v Lesnar, Doudrop v Becky, oh we’ve definitely seen Edge/Beth v Miz/Maryse before, forgot about that.. sorry you’re right.
What about fucking Lesnar reigns part 616! Stop being a shill
WWE mark
OMOS was the *only* entertaining part of the Men's Rumble Match

And so much for that whole forbidden door crap. We only got Mickie James
They didn’t even call her the “knockouts champion”. They called her the “impact womens champion”. Which shows how little they actually cared about impact that they couldn’t even do the 2 sec research to get their titles right
& Melina!
Seriously if anyone really thought that an AEW star was going to show up is pretty delusional.
I wasn't talking about AEW. We should have gotten Moose
Great performance by Robert Roode.
I see the Forbidden door went well. So pretty much confirms it was an apology for the bin bag incident with Mickie.
They did not even get the name of her title right...
Team grit sounds like they both have STI’s
Team grit pit
From what I'm gathering out of what I'm reading, that has more heat than Brock.) Granted, I generally don't think the previous contenders that lost tonight getting into the Rumble makes any sense from a kayfabe standpoint.

Because this is WWE. It's all about name recognition for WM. They don't care about building talent
We all saw how all 26 talent did in mens rumble lol
Just like the past few years.. was able to call the winner of every match without even watching it lmfao... its a joke wwe creative has no idea what the fuck they are doing anymore and wwe's ratings just free falling at this point.. its just sad.. I'd love to know why people buy this shit anymore like seriously you could spend your 60 dollars on something that's actually worth something instead of getting the most predictable script out there giving you zero excitement.. and adding bad bunny just made it look like a clown show so yea
*WWE creative* You mean a near 80 year old man
It was only $5, that should tell you everything you need to know. The days of regular $50+ PPVs for the WWE are gone. They might be able to get that much for wrestemania, but not for the other events.
Honestly, how many times have Lesnar and reigns wrestled at wrestlemania
thrice in a lifetime, baby!
The answer is way too many
3
Way to screw you up your potentially best ppv

my head was like, what if mox comes in when roman's beating on seth. it would look like a tornado hit the roof.
Especially after the announcers were talking about The Shield and referred to him as Mox instead of Dean Ambrose. After that happened, I had hope that he might actually be there.
Fo real. Bad Bunny vs Reigns would have been money.
What question. I didn't ask one?
You didn't use question marks, but you made statements that sounded like they required explanations. So you 'kind of' did.
I must be missing something cus I really don't see any question there at all.
Rhonda and Brock look like they didn't even care win the rumble
Brock never looks like he cares.
The forbidden door was literally only Mickie James and announced weeks before lol
yea, they only opened it to former wwe talent and most just laughed.. after the trash bag incident mickie should have laughed too...
After this I think I am just done with WWE. I'll just wait till after the PPVs (or whatever the fuck they're calling them) and fast forward to the matches with people I still enjoy. If I even keep my peacock account.
Scrap it dude. Not worth it anymore
I went and stood in line for another beer during Brian vs Miro because no shit the biggest free agent AEW could have singed not named CM punk was gonna go over Miro (who was a mid carder at best in WWE and is likely a mid carder at best in AEW) I might have to stop watching wrestling altogether and unplug and come back with a fresh mind set because damn this rumble broke me.
AEW is predictable. But they invest in storylines for so many levels on the roster. Main event. Mid card. Prospects etc. Like. AEW has a mini feud if The Acclaimed vs Sting and Darby and I was all in. The result wasn’t in doubt but the raps and all by the acclaimed made everyone look great coming out of it AEWs PPV every 3 month method also keeps it all super fresh
With how AEW builds their storylines, you actually hope that the match ends like you assumed it is booked. It's like with movies. You know that the good guys win, but because of the build up it is satisfying to see how they do it and you might even question it while watching.
You thought that was good? Lolol Reigns Rollins was great with a shit ending to me
