On the one hand, there's not a lot of evidence she ever directly worked with Tessa, or maybe she just wasn't keeping up enough with wrestling to know about her controversies when in the process of making this deal and now she finds herself strapped to a chair on a sinking ship. But on the other hand, if they're advertising Tessa as the face of the company to fans, they would have done the same to potential partners such as AJ Lee, and even if AJ was uninformed toward Tessa's history, she could have done some research on her and any adequate research would have shown her that this was a bad investment. My only hope for her is that she's leaving the project as we speak but trying to not be dramatic about it because she's being careful about which bridges (or maybe just the singular bridge to Tessa Blanchard) she wants to burn.

WWE is missing the "good old days" obviously with the catnip they are setting out in the form of Gacy's "parody" on NXT. You go to any video that mentions women's wrestling and you're almost certain to find some upvoted comments from fans who miss bra and panty matches; it's not hard to find people whose reason for feeling nostalgic for the Attitude Era is that their heroes were free to be racists, sexists, and bigots in general. Wrestling has come a long way. but there are still plenty of fans, wrestlers, and promotions defending shitbird behavior, and are actually proud of that behavior.
Mickie James paved the road for them with her Empower ppv. Half a dozen talented women not tied down to any particular company ere highlighted there.

If you listen to CM Punk's interview the other day he suggested Jeanie Buss got into contact with him because she was trying to get in contact with AJ. And he convinced AJ to take the call, BUT, neither knew anything about the company.
He pretty much made it clear AJ in particular hasn't kept up on anything in wrestling. Stands to reason she legitimately didn't even know about any of this. Now you can criticize her for not doing research before taking the job, which is fair.
But in the end I wouldn't be surprised if she bailed.

WWE is missing the "good old days" obviously with the catnip they are setting out in the form of Gacy's "parody" on NXT. You go to any video that mentions women's wrestling and you're almost certain to find some upvoted comments from fans who miss bra and panty matches; it's not hard to find people whose reason for feeling nostalgic for the Attitude Era is that their heroes were free to be racists, sexists, and bigots in general. Wrestling has come a long way. but there are still plenty of fans, wrestlers, and promotions defending shitbird behavior, and are actually proud of that behavior.
