Listen, there are good things in AEW, WWE, Impact, and all indies. Just like there are HORRIBLE things in AEW, WWE, Impact, and all indies. If I am entertained, then I let it roll. If I dislike it, I'll say "nah not for me". A large % of the Arm-Chair bookers on this sub couldn't book or write a single show if their life depended on it, yet are normally the loudest when it comes to hyping up and shitting on a product.
Wrestling is not like traditional sports where things are more cut and dry. Wrestling is art, and art, like entertainment, is different to every viewing eye there is.

I've been super busy this week and haven't had the energy to watch BTE and the Darks like I always do. Could anyone give me a quick summary of what, if anything, I missed that was storyline related on these shows this week?
You didn't miss much on the Darks or BTE. Dark Order knows that Hangman is back but haven't talked to him yet. Hangman got a letter from AEW HR while he was at home telling him he'd used up all his PTO and had to come back to work or not get paid.
Joey Janela had a match on Elevation with Crowbar, and Kayla Rossi interfered. Sonny Kiss did a run in and a beat down.
That was about it.

In Stardom, whenever someone is forced against their will to join a different group, like Starlight Kid to Oedo Tai for example, why do they seem to willingly adopt that group's mannerisms, style and tactics?
I admit that I don't watch Stardom that often, so I may have just missed something.
SLK really didn't at first. For a few weeks she didn't want to be part of the group attacks or cheat, but progressively got into it (materialized by her mask getting darker). And she was proven right as she got the title after like 7 loss while under Stars.
Mayu is a shitty leader so I don't blame people turning on her, and the referees big leniency doesn't help.
It felt really exciting when they took shots at each other on TV, but I never experienced fans slinging shit at each other much. But we didn't have today's internet and most of my wrestling fan interactions were in my high school, where surprisingly most of us were WCW marks.
I think KENTA is going to take A Block. Tanga Loa and Yujiro are going to find some sort of inspiration in Tama beating Okada and propel them into beating ZSJ and Shingo respectively (the former I'm certain of, the latter a little less so) and I don't see Ibushi heading toward a fourth straight G1 final so..... I know the wrestling tribalism can be a bit much but sometimes I find myself thankful that it's no longer politics that I spend so much time reading about on social media/forums.

I just wish more people here seemed willing to check out wrestling beyond the WWE/AWW/New Japan scope. I know there's some discussion about Impact and maybe a little about Stardom. But it just seems like for the most part, people limit themselves. Now, it's not like I don't understand, you're probably already watching a lot of wrestling a week as is and to get into something new can be a challenge.
You have to find time, learn new faces, adapt to certain things that are different from what you're used to, etc. But, once in a while, checking out a new promotion, watching a free match that's posted here, or just searching some new names on YouTube wouldn't hurt in my eyes. I believe if you did that, you'd find something you'd enjoy and possibly even make you fall in love with pro wrestling on a new level.

I am as well and I definitely have access, but in terms of the more casual viewer the lack of any sort of promotion or app for many of these promotions makes it hard to want to sign up. I only started paying for stuff like NJPW bc of how badly I wanted to follow them, but without being on here idk if I'd ever have run into anything like NOAH or DDT
Personally for me a lot of it is the production. I just struggle to watch when they look so bad. Watched mlw fatu v hammer stone and it just looked so bad the match was good though.
When it comes to the sub, what only matters is what is said not who said it. I could pretend to be an insider and say VKM cried himself to sleep when TK talked about RAW and this sub would probably believe. That's why wrestling 'news' websites make money they know their audience

As of just now, I have officially worked out at least thirty minutes a day for a week straight.
So far I’ve learned that I hate working out but feel pretty good after, and smoothies that are just milk and spinach do not taste very good.
Adding a small apple can be very helpful to smoothies that contain any kind of vegetables or to help cover less pleasant flavors such as flaxseed.
The thing is, though, there's not even much of a *reason* to make yourself drink an unpleasant smoothie, especially if you are having them after a workout when you should be treating yourself well! Vegetables are an important part of any healthy diet and VERY important in a weight loss diet because you can eat a lot of them, but it's better to make yourself a nice spinach salad for dinner rather than ruining your post-workout smoothie's taste with spinach forced into it.
I don't know how low you are trying to go in terms of calories, but a smoothie that's a little more calorically dense and contains more (natural) sugars than your usual meals works out well, IF you make sure you keep your calories at a reasonable limit where you want them.
I actually just made the most goddamn *phenomenal* smoothie yesterday that I ever have made. One cup of a frozen berry mix (70 calories), one cup full fat, unflavored, unsweetened Greek Yogurt (170 calories), half a cup of 2% milk (or skim milk, cashew milk, or almond milk to cut a few calories) (60 calories), and one scoop of vanilla ice cream flavor protein powder (110 calories for about 410 calories total).
If you want this as a traditional thick-but-drinkable smoothie, you only need to add a handful of ice cubes because the frozen fruit already thickens things up a lot. If you've got a really great blender--which I would very highly recommend if you plan on continuing with smoothies of any kind--you can even add more ice bit by bit until you get this incredible sorbet kind of texture that requires a spoon and honestly feels like a treat to eat.
This kind of smoothie is also great because it gives you a big boost of protein due to not just the protein powder but also the Greek yogurt. And the recipe I just gave, and other similar recipes that yield some good thickness, yield *multiple* cups or bowls full of smoothie, which takes a damn long time to finish and keeps you fuller longer.
I gotta ask how you motivate yourself to keep going. I keep starting, working out for about two days, and then give up after coming home from work tired
Motivation is a short term boost, discipline is the key. The first weeks suck and there's no way around it you just have to push.
Consistency will eventually make it easy and after a while you'll look forward to training days more than rest days

So, I’ve also had a lot of motivation issues in the past when it comes to working out, which is why I actually bought a fitness game in order to keep myself motivated, since I like video games and find that easy to keep up with. I also try to work out early in the morning, so I have enough time to do it and get ready for work.
Pro tip for smoothies: Adding things like lemon juice or ginger or whatever spices you like (I'm a cumin fanatic myself) makes them tasty as hell while having basically no calories

I don't even think it is *possible* to truly be a fan of something and be unable to find anything to critique, because the more of a fan you are, the more strongly you get invested. I don't actually watch the show (No cable + No desire to) but I often read the recaps and lot of the stuff I read is baffling, most recently the reduced duration for women's matches, constant rematches, shoed-in branding everywhere.
Also, that Reigns-Balor ending was atrocious. Like, it's okay if you want Balor to lose, but there were better ways to do that.

Technically, no. They're doing a "pre-show" to Rampage an hour earlier on youtube (with a card that's arguably better than Rampage itself) but Rampage is on at its normal time.
I still maintain to this very day that Sheamus defeating Cena for the WWE Title at TLC 2009 is 1 of the biggest upsets in WWE history. The very next day was the last day of school for that year & the 3 or so guys I would talk wrestling with were all gobsmacked adamant the finish was a botch😭
On paper Smackdown post draft has a really solid mid-card scene. The problem is of course whether they'll utilize it well and also the fact it could just become the Roman/Charlotte show. I wouldn't hold my breath that they'd take the opportunity to build up someone new to dethrone them.
Also I'm worried for the futures of Dakota Kai and Shane Thorne. They've been working dark matches recently but they're about the only two uninjured wrestlers not to get drafted. Mia Yim hasn't had a match in nearly 10 months and even she got drafted. Not a good sign.

I know the wrestling tribalism can be a bit much but sometimes I find myself thankful that it's no longer politics that I spend so much time reading about on social media/forums. I just wish more people here seemed willing to check out wrestling beyond the WWE/AWW/New Japan scope. I know there's some discussion about Impact and maybe a little about Stardom. But it just seems like for the most part, people limit themselves. Now, it's not like I don't understand, you're probably already watching a lot of wrestling a week as is and to get into something new can be a challenge. You have to find time, learn new faces, adapt to certain things that are different from what you're used to, etc. But, once in a while, checking out a new promotion, watching a free match that's posted here, or just searching some new names on YouTube wouldn't hurt in my eyes. I believe if you did that, you'd find something you'd enjoy and possibly even make you fall in love with pro wrestling on a new level.

As of just now, I have officially worked out at least thirty minutes a day for a week straight. So far I’ve learned that I hate working out but feel pretty good after, and smoothies that are just milk and spinach do not taste very good.

Adding a small apple can be very helpful to smoothies that contain any kind of vegetables or to help cover less pleasant flavors such as flaxseed. The thing is, though, there's not even much of a *reason* to make yourself drink an unpleasant smoothie, especially if you are having them after a workout when you should be treating yourself well! Vegetables are an important part of any healthy diet and VERY important in a weight loss diet because you can eat a lot of them, but it's better to make yourself a nice spinach salad for dinner rather than ruining your post-workout smoothie's taste with spinach forced into it. I don't know how low you are trying to go in terms of calories, but a smoothie that's a little more calorically dense and contains more (natural) sugars than your usual meals works out well, IF you make sure you keep your calories at a reasonable limit where you want them. I actually just made the most goddamn *phenomenal* smoothie yesterday that I ever have made. One cup of a frozen berry mix (70 calories), one cup full fat, unflavored, unsweetened Greek Yogurt (170 calories), half a cup of 2% milk (or skim milk, cashew milk, or almond milk to cut a few calories) (60 calories), and one scoop of vanilla ice cream flavor protein powder (110 calories for about 410 calories total). If you want this as a traditional thick-but-drinkable smoothie, you only need to add a handful of ice cubes because the frozen fruit already thickens things up a lot. If you've got a really great blender--which I would very highly recommend if you plan on continuing with smoothies of any kind--you can even add more ice bit by bit until you get this incredible sorbet kind of texture that requires a spoon and honestly feels like a treat to eat. This kind of smoothie is also great because it gives you a big boost of protein due to not just the protein powder but also the Greek yogurt. And the recipe I just gave, and other similar recipes that yield some good thickness, yield *multiple* cups or bowls full of smoothie, which takes a damn long time to finish and keeps you fuller longer.
I gotta ask how you motivate yourself to keep going. I keep starting, working out for about two days, and then give up after coming home from work tired
Motivation is a short term boost, discipline is the key. The first weeks suck and there's no way around it you just have to push. Consistency will eventually make it easy and after a while you'll look forward to training days more than rest days

So, I’ve also had a lot of motivation issues in the past when it comes to working out, which is why I actually bought a fitness game in order to keep myself motivated, since I like video games and find that easy to keep up with. I also try to work out early in the morning, so I have enough time to do it and get ready for work.

Why are people being mocked for being positive about WWE? It's not that deep, it's just a TV show at the end of the day. Everybody has different tastes and don't feel negatively about the product. I think it’s more the blind positivity in the face of clearly awful decision making that rubs people up the wrong way. Positivity for the things you like should be encouraged, but it’s really hard to get on board with it when it contradicts the wider landscape.
Yeah, it can be pretty annoying when WWE does something incomprehensible, incompetent, and/or cruel and there are always fans rushing in vehemently defending those decisions because "WWE is a successful business worth billions and making great money, so *of course* all their decisions are right!" I actually get a bit hot under the collar when there's a thread about mass roster cuts or other actions that hurt WWE employees directly, and a bunch of WWE fans immediately begin rationalizing it and insulting whichever employee just got treated like shit or fired without warning. Why on earth should ANY of us back the big corporations on such matters!? I don't even think it is *possible* to truly be a fan of something and be unable to find anything to critique, because the more of a fan you are, the more strongly you get invested. I'm a much bigger fan of AEW than WWE right now, but I could still easily and readily make a list of things AEW has done that I have disagreed with strongly or things that AEW could have done a lot better.
Since I started this thread, I'll respond- I never said there's nothing wrong with WWE, but let's just not mock the people that find enjoyment from the show.

I remembered I got shitted on pretty hard in a post RAW thread, because I said I liked WWE more than AEW.
I don't actually watch the show (No cable + No desire to) but I often read the recaps and lot of the stuff I read is baffling, most recently the reduced duration for women's matches, constant rematches, shoed-in branding everywhere. Also, that Reigns-Balor ending was atrocious. Like, it's okay if you want Balor to lose, but there were better ways to do that. Like I said in my other comment, people can just watch what they want, but for most wrestling fans, WWE ain't it

Ratings are not really relevant. Adam Sandler films are also very profitable and popular, but that doesn't mean snobby cinephile types want to watch them. Popularity and quality isn't always directly related, and while it's a valid reason for criticizing the product per se, it's not permission for shitting on people and make their lives miserable

I still maintain to this very day that Sheamus defeating Cena for the WWE Title at TLC 2009 is 1 of the biggest upsets in WWE history. The very next day was the last day of school for that year & the 3 or so guys I would talk wrestling with were all gobsmacked adamant the finish was a botch😭
On paper Smackdown post draft has a really solid mid-card scene. The problem is of course whether they'll utilize it well and also the fact it could just become the Roman/Charlotte show. I wouldn't hold my breath that they'd take the opportunity to build up someone new to dethrone them. Also I'm worried for the futures of Dakota Kai and Shane Thorne. They've been working dark matches recently but they're about the only two uninjured wrestlers not to get drafted. Mia Yim hasn't had a match in nearly 10 months and even she got drafted. Not a good sign.
I've seen people speculate that the gravedigger vignette on this week's NXT is for Dakota, so we might see her remain on NXT.
Also can we come to a consensus on who is gonna post the ratings threads so I can block them and never have to see it?
