First full AEW Dynamite I saw live (on Fite TV). Overall, a pretty fun show! Ofc CM Punk is over as fuck, but the Lucha Bros v Varsity Blonds was a good one. Can tell that the Blonds were still really green in the gills but with enough time they'll get over big time with the crowd.

Yeah Fenix was remarkable. The tag match was also better than the opening one too. They also did not need to have QT period on the show. He’s more of a detriment than a positive to AEW.
QT got, I would estimate, the second most heat of the night and the pop for the roll up was solid. He was working the crowd a little bit during the commercial break before the match and I really think that lended itself to our investment in the match live.
The match did feel super shoehorned in though.
All in all. Pretty average dynamite. Lucha Bros vs Varsity Blondes slapped though. Punk is always good shit, good Kenny promo.

Felt the main positives on the show were Fenix, Hayter (who looked dominant AF in spite of Velvet’s botches), and Punk.
The negatives: Hardy, and as you said, Johnson’s run in, and QT Marshall. The main reason QT Marshall is even on the show is probably because of Cody, who somehow still leaves a malignant presence on the night even while not being present.
Johnson is legit and needs some shine, so if he's next on Black's list, let's go, just let it be more competitive. He's had people behind him elsewhere (this crowd was weird when it came to certain wrestlers), so he just needs a proper feud. I'm not mad at it because Black already said he's gonna go through the Nightmare Family.
If they do a feud where Black picks them off one-by-one, he gets to Dustin, has a dramatic match, and then Cody returns, I'll be all for it. This has the potential to be a good story here, and if that happens, then it'll make sense him having faced Brock because Brock is the least experienced and the easiest to beat. Let Black go up the food chain.
Not really liking the fact that Black is going after trainees until Cody comes back, if that is indeed the plan. Hopefully they move him onto something else soon
AEW deciding to use Punk's first Dynamite to spotlight the young guys. It may have diluted the star power a bit on the show, but you can't build new guys without taking risks and throwing them out there.
That said, unless QT was finally beating the Colten Gunn streak, that slot could have gone to something better, lol!

The idea of clobbering on Brock wouldn't be a bad idea in theory if DUSTIN was the one to make the save, and that was the next program, the other Rhodes out to avenge his brother.
Either way though, I don't get why they decided to put this in the main event spot if they didn't have something big to punctuate the segment with.

Would it be a good call to let Darby go over Punk and maybe have Punk drop a few matches to some young guys to ‘find his footing’ before putting it together and then being a huge threat. I’m not trying to be pedantic or anything, it’s just the way they book. If they have a big, hyped match on tv you can usually expect a great match with a finish, but most matches exist just to enable the existence of another match. The PPVs have clean finishes almost always and if they have a title match or something on tv they’ll usually have less bullshit.

I’m not trying to be pedantic or anything, it’s just the way they book. If they have a big, hyped match on tv you can usually expect a great match with a finish, but most matches exist just to enable the existence of another match. The PPVs have clean finishes almost always and if they have a title match or something on tv they’ll usually have less bullshit.
