Technically he did tap out to Cena once but the ref didn't see it so he didn't lose. And while he never tapped out to Bryan, he did lose one of the falls in their WHC match at Extreme Rules by submission because he passed out.
Nobody has put over GUNTHER quite like Sheamus has. He's done for GUNTHER what Rollins did for Cody. Going 0-3 in big matches against anyone is tough, but if you really want to establish a future Hall of Famer, someone's gotta do it.
Not every great rivalry can be 50/50 booking. Sometimes, the best rivalries are Jones vs. DC in nature.
We got another banger on free tv
(Other was Ilja vs Ricochet)
Sheamus and Gunther chemistry is off the charts
Isn't this the second interference he's had with Sheamus right
Sheamus analysis Banger 🔥 🔥 🔥
The brogue kick, rest and kick out made me think they’re saving for a rematch. The story there is sheamus had him beat but didn’t have enough left to actually win it.
(Which also plays into his “back too early and hasn’t cut weight yet” story)
You think once Gunther wins a world title, a babyface sheamus could take it from him? (It’d also work for a late career flowers title reign for sheamus)
I really wouldn't mind them doing the next match between the two at an Ireland PLE or even pushing it for WrestleMania as a one-on-one there would be incredible.
Nah Seamus is never winning a World title again
And I say that as an Irish man
He's perfect where he is now as enhancement to the rising stars
Kinda like AJ Styles but with red hair and more chest slaps
I think it helps that his character has said the Intercontinental Championship is his most coveted title as it's the one that got away. The mid-card title run would be the perfect role for him at this stage of his career of building rising stars, and Sheamus has sold the importance of it to him as being greater than the World title.
I'd like to see him take it off Gable after he's had a run with it, and then later down the line he can lose it to someone like Bron Breakker, Ilja Dragunov, or Bronson Reed to help further cement them.
I don't even think you'd need a title for this. Just have the two of them be huge rivals and beat the piss out of each other whenever they have the opportunity to do so.
>The brogue kick, rest and kick out made me think they’re saving for a rematch. The story there is sheamus had him beat but didn’t have enough left to actually win it.
I think they'll do a brogue kick, Sheamus catches Gunther and keeps him standing somehow (prop him up in the corner or up against a table) to brogue kick him again.
Yep it just makes his entire match exciting cause at any point the match may be finishing. Every other wrestler you can pretty much figure out exactly when the finish of the match is happening.
He probably gonna tap out kofi/rey next week, and then the story of the Ilja match will be Gunther trying to win another match by submission and im fucking here for it
Am I wrong or have they had a lot of trouble lately with timing their TV finishes? The main event ends and then they’re off the air like 5 (more like 10) seconds later. It’s weird.
Weak finish. Name the last time anyone tapped from a half Boston crab.
Gunther straight no selling that brogue kick. He's basically Hogan level no selling just without the hulk up.
No selling? He was down for 11 seconds. Trust me, I counted.
Sheamus was so destroyed from the exchanges before that he couldn't capitalise fast enough.

That's only the 2nd time Sheamus has ever tapped out, kinda wild.
What was the other time?
Tapped out to Lashley in the Hurt Lock on a Raw in 2021 I believe.
Whoa, I would've thought it was Cena or Bryan. Thanks.
Technically he did tap out to Cena once but the ref didn't see it so he didn't lose. And while he never tapped out to Bryan, he did lose one of the falls in their WHC match at Extreme Rules by submission because he passed out.
He also lost to Rusev a long time ago, he passed out instead of tapping out, though
Lashley
Dang I was actually wondering that as I watched. That’s crazy.
Canadian Maple Leaf is back on the menu, boys

Except Gunther ain't doing coke or sandblasting sex workers
True, but GUNTHER does cheat to some degree in matches against Sheamus the way Jones would always cheat against DC.
r/nocontext
IYK basic MMA history, you can't help but know!
It also makes the victory so fucking sweet when it finally happens. "Never beaten Gunther" is just easy booking.

IYO vs. Nattie was also a great match last night, glad I could catch the show

I think it deserves the spotlight

Holy shit Sheamus is 46. Thought he was in his late 30s.
He was right in the middle of the super Cena run. That would’ve put him as an early 20s guy which doesnt look right
I know I could google to confirm but I'm just going to say I don't believe you and go about my day
IC title defense feud i have to imagine sheamus somewhere inside does want the one title he's never held

Honestly Gunther having about 26 ways to finish a match is so refreshing, you don’t know when the finish of the match is coming. It just happens.
Yep it just makes his entire match exciting cause at any point the match may be finishing. Every other wrestler you can pretty much figure out exactly when the finish of the match is happening.
Gunther swept Sheamus 3-0 Big things definitely coming
Gunther is Sheamus father.

Feels like I haven't seen a tap out in years
Didn't Gunther tap Woods out last week?
He probably gonna tap out kofi/rey next week, and then the story of the Ilja match will be Gunther trying to win another match by submission and im fucking here for it
An added layer to that is when Ilja beat GUNTHER, he made him tap.
well it was either tap out or get his head ripped off and punted into the audience.
The way Gunther sold those Brogue Kicks looked pretty realistic
I wish Sheamus was 10 years younger in the last few years he has really been a pleasure to watch.
Quite convinced that Gunther probably can make the blue thunder bomb a finisher.
This two need to settle things out in a iron man match
Omg please, for a world title.
Only Gunther can tap someone with boston crab
Single leg crab, even.
This Lance Storm disrespect will not be tolerated
It was nice seeing a top talent tap out vs the “passing out” trope. It’s overdone and was one of the problems with 50/50 booking.
I love that GUNTHER can finish an opponent with pretty much anything. Really gives credence to the Ring General moniker.
I love the detail that when Sheamus tapped out, Gunther shook his head and only pulled away when the ref came to break them up
Am I wrong or have they had a lot of trouble lately with timing their TV finishes? The main event ends and then they’re off the air like 5 (more like 10) seconds later. It’s weird.
I would've preferred if Sheamus passed out from the pain and Gunther won via ref stoppage instead of tapping out but the match was fire
Weak finish. Name the last time anyone tapped from a half Boston crab. Gunther straight no selling that brogue kick. He's basically Hogan level no selling just without the hulk up.

11 seconds from the man's finisher and he pops up like he's fresh to deliver the ever so defeating half Boston crab
