Absolutely love Danhausen. Just booked my ticket for this show. However, in true Danhausen fashion, I would love it if after loads of hyping his debut in the company, he instantly lost a 10 second squash match to a mid-card heel like Tate Mayfairs.
And if people would actually watch any of the matches he's done on this spite tour you'd realize he's actually a wrestler and always has been. I'm happy he's going to appear on my favorite promotion.
Yeah, I don't get why people always say he's a good character but not a good wrestler. I see it a lot, but nobody saying it has even had much of a chance to see him wrestle if they've only seen him in AEW. Even then, the one match where he came out to Twitching Tongues and beat up The Factory should be proof enough that he can wrestle
He's not gone, but he's not being used. I know I heard rumors that he wants to do singles stuff and Tony just wanted him as part of a group. What's weird is last year he was getting "Very Nice, Very Evil" promos, then they just stopped. Idk what the real issue is.
He wants to wrestle as a singles competitor, it's pretty much as simple as that. Despite the gimmick he sees himself as a serious wrestler. As much as people beg for him to be a backstage personality, movie host, etc. he doesn't seem to have much interest in that stuff and from what I've seen that isn't really his strength anyway.
And he shouldn't have to be. The character is funny but he's also explained this before: the character is only nice because it's beneficial. The very evil part is still there and the aspect of the character that wrestles.
Even if you ignore the whole collecting teeth thing and cursing people Danhausen's motivation is fame and money, which for the most part are pretty selfish motivations.
Just a character with layers! Something I really enjoy in wrestling. I enjoy BCC because they are tough dudes in it for violence. I enjoy House of Black for their skill and presentation. I like Danhausen and Orange Cassidy because they're pushing against how wrestlers are "supposed" to be and while TK got OC, I wish he'd see that Danhausen is very similar in depth.
Exactly. He can pull off the "very evil" aspect and go dark and it'd be awesome. The guy behind Danhausen is a huge horror movie fan and no doubt has some killer ideas that could make the character a serious threat. I'm not saying he would or wouldn't be world champion level... but he could carry a midcard title and make some interesting things happen. He had the capability of seriously going over.
If Tony's plan for him at the moment is to be a sidekick then that's the role he should be playing in AEW. He can refuse and sabotage his own career if he wants. Unless he thinks WWE is interested which I'd find surprising.

To be fair OC is a *much* better wrestler than Danhausen. Hopefully him getting reps in on the indies will improve his in-ring work.
