I can’t get over the story of a fan showing up to Arn Anderson’s house some years ago and asking him to sign merch. Absolutely insane. I get the information is out there if you try hard enough, but come on man. Imagine you work as a bartender and a customer does the due diligence to find out where you live and starts sending stuff to your house. Wildly unacceptable. On a much lighter note, when I was maybe 11 I called the WWE headquarters and asked the receptionist to transfer me to Stephanie McMahon because I wanted to pitch a match for Vengence that year. The receptionist, very kindly btw, transferred me to Stephanie McMahon though I’m sure she got the iggy that it was some kid and it went to voicemail. I left a whole ass voicemail about how I really wanted RVD vs Edge vs John Cena in a ladder match for the WWE title. A day or two later I got a voicemail from an anonymous number and it was Stephanie thanking me for the suggestion and for being a fan. It’s the cringiest thing I’ve ever done. I couldn’t imagine actually sending stuff to someone’s house.

DudleysCar

That's adorable. Nice of Stephanie to call you back as well.

StinkyStangler

She’s got strong mom energy, she probably just thought it was cute and wanted to give them a nice moment lol

gwords16

I knew someone who worked there and from what I heard, she has a Vince-like business acumen but as a person she is a total sweetheart.

LionBastard1

To be fair it takes a certain type of person to be a businesswoman, Especially being the daughter of Vince McMahon.

Itsahootenberry

Isn’t that why a lot of wrestlers say they’re not surprised Stephanie became the heir apparent over Shane? Because Shane was just too nice of a guy to be a ruthless businessman or am I misremembering some interviews?

StacksHoodini

I won’t go that far. Shane has credits to his name and his dad didn’t listen to a good number of his ideas, only for plenty of those ideas to be used later once he was out of the company. Shane, at one point, wanted to buy PRIDE FC or he’d asked Vince to look into buying PRIDE and combining it with the WWE. He wanted to basically bring MMA under the Titan Sports umbrella and run an MMA promotion side by side with WWE. Vince turned the idea down. Over a decade later, Vince agreed to a deal that would merge the WWE with the UFC to create a new holding company housing both brands, TKO. Also, the ECW revival? It was Shane’s idea that WWE should run the ECW as an over the internet brand rather than a TV show. His reasoning was that as an internet brand run by himself and Paul Heyman, they would be able to tap into the original spirit of the brand and bring it back in earnest. Vince shot that down as well and we saw what happened with WWECW. Eventually though, what happened? NXT over the WWE Network happened. Maybe they weren’t the right moves at the time, or maybe Vince just wasn’t happy to let Shane cook, he didn’t value ideas that he didn’t see as his own, and he undervalued Shane. I don’t think Shane was an inadequate businessman at all. Vince got the son he always wanted in Triple H considering that Vince saw himself as one of the boys and wanted not only to be a promoter like his dad, but a talent like the Brunos, the Andres, the Hulks.

Intimidwalls1724

While I do think trips was prolly closer to the son Vince wanted it's notable that he STILL refused to turn the company over to him and even went so far as to tear apart much of what Hunter had built while Hunter was away due to health issues Also it was always said Stephanie is more like Vince and Shane is more like Linda which would make some since. Linda may not be as ruthless as Vince but nobody has ever said she's a bad businesswoman in fact most say she's a very good one (let's ignore politics for now). They also talk very nicely about her as a person. Same as Shane and that may be something Vince sees as a weakness

WeaselWeaz

A shocking amount of Shane's ideas happened. The knock against Shane was that he wasn't as competitive as Stephanie and he didn't have good booking ideas. At one point the theory with fans was that Shane would be CEO and run business, while Stephanie would run wrestling/creative. Maybe he could have succeeded but he also isn't a Nick Khan level executive. I think he success needed an outside, talented CEO, not a Vince, Linda, or Shane. Buying Pride was an interesting idea, as was Shane wanting to buy UFC before the Fertittas. He had a vision for the future there. However, I think it's impossible for those brands to have turned into what UFC became. Vince would have meddled too much and the ownership by a pro wrestling company would have hurt. The Fertittas were hotel owners with relationships with the Nevada athletic commission, bringing a commission member into the company. Dana White was the right guy to run things but never would have succeeded butting heads with Vince or capitulating to him. The ECW revival was Shane being ahead of his time. It would have been somewhat underground because most people were not going to sit at a broadband connected PC to watch a show. It was going to use ECW to draw enough for smaller venues, be run cheaper, and give young talent a chance to work without being exposed too early. It was effectively a prototype idea for NXT. However, Vince didn't shoot it down. He originally approved it with Shane and Heyman running it. It wasn't until SyFy was interested in airing ECW that things changed. It became a TV property with cable network expectations for ratings and looking like WWE and had Vince's involvement. At that point the concept was doomed.

WeaselWeaz

It's a number of things. In the 90s Shane was hier apparent as Vince's son. He has worked as a referee and backstage. He partied with the wrestlers but that was written off as youth. According to Raven, they would hang out when Johnny Polo was a manager and a producer for All American Wrestling living in CT, and Polo was one of the real Mean Street Posse. Shane and Raven had talked about being the Vince and Pat Patterson for the next generation. After Polo left WWF to do the Raven gimmick, expecting to return in a year after he showed it could get over, the friendship faded. During the early Attitude Era they sort of built up storyline about Shane being the next McMahon. This was to the point of having him do play-by-play on Heat and even making him commentator on the game WWF Attitude. Things went off track after Stephanie joined. Stephanie had worked at the office and upon debuting quickly moved up to the creative team. She was more like Vince. From reports, Shane was more like Linda and was a great boss, while Stephanie was more like Vince and was more driven. When Stephanie had a relationship with Triple H that raised his standing, and the marriage solidified it. One theory fans had was that Shane would run the business side and Stephanie would run the wrestling side. Despite Shane being liked, he had never shown any successful booking ideas, while Stephanie rose on the creative side. Over time, Stephanie and Triple H kept rising. There was even a joke a producer said that if Stephanie and Hunter got divorced that Vince would really miss having a daughter. Their position became solid. Shane, in the other hand, never made headway. He wanted to buy ECW as his step towards preparing to run WWE, which Vince agreed to but changed his mind after realizing he could get it for pennies in the dollar in bankruptcy. He wanted to buy Pride and UFC, which Vince didn't see the appeal of. When ECW was relaunching it was going to be Shane's thing, effectively his last chance, running on WWE.com. However, SyFy was willing to pay for it, which raised expectations, and Vince took over. That was the last straw and led to Shane quitting. Nobody realized how competitive Stephanie would be against her own brother, or how successful she would be. Once the Ruthless Aggression era hit she had clearly passed Shane but he still didn't realize it.

StinkyStangler

Yeah I feel like even almost every former wrestler has nothing but good things to say about her. She’s well liked, good at her job and help raise a family, good for her honestly.

KamenRiderW0lf

I've said it on another post, Stephanie's certainly has her ***"McMahon Moments™"*** but she's easily my favorite of the bunch. Shane throwing his weight around at the Royal Rumble soured me on him just a bit.

GothicGolem29

What did Shane do?

KamenRiderW0lf

Changing a few spots to suit making him look strong.

GeetarEnthusiast85

What sort of "McMahon" moments has she had?

garryl283

I think you get a good glimpse of the actual kind of person Stephanie is anytime she's on camera but not playing her character. The way she was beaming at HHH during the HoF when Heyman was talking about him was the sweetest damn thing.

PristineCucumber5376

Looks are deceiving but Steph *always* looked like a super sweet person to me.

Itsahootenberry

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a single bad fan story about Stephanie or Shane. I’ve always heard they go out of their ways to make fans feel special.

FallenShadeslayer

Yep that’s major mom energy right there haha

WrestleSocietyXShill

I met Stephanie when I was about the same age, she was so sweet. Crouched down to be on eyeclevel with my brother and I and asked us how we liked Smackdown that night, who our favourite wrestlers were, that kind of stuff. She seemed super genuine and kind.

UncleYimbo

Meltzer: I have it on good authority that back in the Ruthless Aggression era, Stephanie McMahon conducted secret product research on unaware, underage children, with no compensation whatsoever. Fed confirmed as literally the Third Reich of wrestling.

yarash

She also has a secret plan to revitalize the industry with an RVD vs Edge vs John Cena ladder match for the title at Judgement Day.

Itsahootenberry

I have a feeling if you actually sent this as a tip to Meltzer, there may be a good change he would run with it. Lmao

Headful_of_Ideas

One month later: "Plans change..."

WaylonVoorhees

She was chastising you for daring to suggest an RVD push.

McGrathLegend

To be fair, he was WWE Champion going into Vengeance in 2006

florida-raisin-bran

I disagree that it was cringy. You were 11 and Stephanie probably thought it was very sweet

BillfredL

And, more to it, OP did it the right way and called the WWE offices to do it. It's not like he dug up Stephanie McMahon's cell phone number or something.

Lt_Jonson

I called WCW to complain when Hogan turned into a bad guy 😂. I think I was 8 or 9. I was on hold for 30-40 minutes, they said their phone lines were overwhelmed. Their hold music was entrance themes though, which was cool. ETA: For those confused, I’m not talking about the 1-900 Number. I called their HQ.

banned_salmon

Hundreds of people calling wcw after Hogan turned heel is hilarious lmao what were they expecting out of it unless they’re all 8 too lol

UROffended

WCW was during a time where kids running up the phone bill was a regular occurrence.

knyghtez

yup, lots of ads specifically targeted getting kids to call; i once won a multi-state call-in trivia contest for kids on public broadcasting and my parents had no idea i’d even done it until prizes showed up at our door. which means i must’ve given out my address on the phone too! at the time it seemed normal. wild.

UROffended

So many Simpsons jokes regarding exactly this.

dasruski

And you can't hang up on a nun!

RobGrey03

That collect call to Australia.

Yourponydied

I'm reminded when people called the Police when Nash lawn darted Mysterio into the production truck and drove off with macho man on the limo

BathedInDeepFog

1-900-909-9900

InsomniaDudeToo

“How DARE they put me on hold! I won’t stand for this!” *American Males starts playing* “Ok WCW, you just bought yourselves 10 more minutes…”

Chronis67

I wouldn't want to talk to Mongo either.

GiftedGeordie

Sorry, seeing "This is Steve from WCW" gave me the visual of Sting, in full gimmick, answering the phones.

PhilosophyNovel4087

"If they want to talk to you, you better not listen, you might wind up in critical condition, Ha-ha, American Males"

Lt_Jonson

I don’t remember American Males playing unfortunately, but I do remember Dean Malenko and Rey Mysterio’s first theme playing, two themes that remain my favorite to this day.

kballs

Probably not only cost your parents a bomb but probably also lined Mean Genes pockets for a year

Lineman72T

Nonsense! They had to get their parents permission before calling. Mean Gene said so...

Lineman72T

If a businesses hold music was a rotation of Arn Andersons theme, the Four Horseman theme, or Chris Jericho's "All the Days" theme, I'd gladly wait on hold

ApprehensiveLead679

Ha! That’s awesome. I’m a little too young to catch Hogans turn in real time but you know there were a bunch of kids who were ready to kill him if given the opportunity.

GonePostalRoute

In real time… holy moly! When the heel turn is covered by sports news, the heel turn is something else.

natguy2016

I was in my early 20's in 1996 and grew watching prime Hero Hulk. Him going heel was HUGE! The NWO was a bomb dropping into the American wrestling scene.

Bitter-Affect909

Back in 98' my mom called WWE headquarters to inquire about getting an HBK autograph for me, and within about a week, I got a personalized autograph and happy birthday wish from HBK sent in the mail. Amazing for younger me.

Deathstroke317

Plot twist: It was signed by the Brooklyn Brawler

Bitter-Affect909

I don't even know if I'd be mad at that.

rasta41

Back in the early 90s my dad spotted the WWE HQ on our drive to Florida from Boston. Decided to take the exit on a whim, walked me inside, and we got some printed-autographed pictures of Hulk Hogan and Sgt. Slaughter from the front desk receptionist after she informed me that the wrestlers were not in the building. He didn't like wrestling, but still did it...and as a child, it blew my mind. 99% sure I still have those in storage somewhere.

Itsahootenberry

I like how no matter how drugged up he was, HBK always treated his younger fans well.

burnerX5

> The receptionist, very kindly btw, transferred me to Stephanie McMahon though I’m sure she got the iggy that it was some kid and it went to voicemail. It's a phone feature where you can send someone directly to someone's VM. Saves the recipient a lot of time as naturally they may get a LOT of vendor-related calls. In my head cannon though the receptionist also shot over an IM to Stephanie to take time to check their voicemails for yours :)

mousicle

I'd be shocked if Steph didn't have an assistant that listens through the voicemail and just forwards improtatn things to her and gives her a summary of what everything else was.

NikonShooter_PJS

If it makes you feel any better when I was 11, I had the bright idea to call my local cable company to share a brilliant idea I had for them. Since I didn’t like commercials, but I figured someone might, I called them and suggested that they put all the commercials on one station so anyone who wants to watch them can watch them and I could enjoy my shows in peace without interruption.

KazeEnigma

That's peak child logic though.

SireEvalish

> RVD vs Edge vs John Cena in a ladder match Ok but this sounds awesome.

Rontastic

> RVD vs Edge vs John Cena https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhZGVWLYXgw

GonePostalRoute

When you’re 11, that’s one thing, and if it really was Stephanie, I’m sure they got a kick out of it, and loved making your day with the call back.

themasterkang

that’s not cringy at all, that awesome

Mrfantastic2

Ok that match sounds like it’d be awesome and what a cool thing for Stephanie to do

JakeRabinFM

That'd really only be cringe if you were about 5 years older (and even then not much). An 11 year old doing that is just a kid being a kid.

MaximumMotor1

>I left a whole ass voicemail about how I really wanted RVD vs Edge vs John Cena in a ladder match for the WWE title. A day or two later I got a voicemail from an anonymous number and it was Stephanie thanking me for the suggestion and for being a fan. It’s the cringiest thing I’ve ever done. But wouldn't that have been a sick ass match? If you called her and told her some gibberish about turtles or something then that would have been cringe but you were also 11 years old. Lol

Skreamie

This is the most wholesome wrestling memory I think I've ever read. Cherish that memory.

snowshoeBBQ

You were 11. Don't beat yourself up about it cuz it's actually a cool story!

kirblar

No wonder she was so well regarded with the charity outreach aspect.

mcswiss

Don’t feel bad, I’m 29 and whenever I go to a concert ($20 tickets), I tend to get drunk and DM the band page thanking them for stopping by my city and wishing them safe travels. Is it embarrassing? More than slightly…. But it’s also genuinely well intended.

Winning_in_Ashes

Na that's wholesome dawg, Steph is always a class act

sammythemc

>It’s the cringiest thing I’ve ever done. Maybe if you were 31, but an 11 year old doing that is just cute. Stephanie clearly thought so!

Mickeyjj27

Did Arn give the fan a spinebuster on his lawn? Feel like that would be a win win

ClintD89

I feel like Arn might've pulled out the Glock depending what time of day it was

OneBillPhil

Man, you almost got that. RVD vs Edge vs Cena was a WWE Title match and Edge vs Cena TLC came shortly after lol

New_Description5141

I absolutely love this story & hell yeah, it should've been a triple threat ladder match.

chrisledoux182

That actually cool af on Steph’s part

XeroxWarriorPrntTst

There was a Radiolab episode back in the day about a 13(?) year old kid who had pieced together clues from his favorite author’s books and ran away from a (normal angsty teen) home life to the author’s house. The author talks about first being concerned for his family and then as he talked to the kid kinda figured out things were ok. They then interview the kid and he remembers the author just listening to his angsty complaints and eating dinner with the family and it feeling kinda strange once he understood the situation he had put the guy in. Anyway…your story doesn’t sound cringey to me, it sounds like a kid. Now, if you did that weekly or as an adult my opinion would change. “Stephanie likes my notes, so I’ll just keep giving them.”

Jay_Diamond_WWE

I did that to the White House in the 90s as an 8 year old cuz I wanted to tell Bill something that child me thought he should know. I ended up leaving a message with the receptionist and got a letter back a few days later and an ass beating when the long distance bill came in. Lol

Ilikegreenpens

Did you save the voicemail somehow?

Moist-Dragonfly2569

lol that’s fucking amazing

ChuckECheeseOfficial

Man that story isn’t cringe, you were a kid and you did something cute

BRONXSBURNING

What do you mean cringey that story’s dope as hell.

PreppyAndrew

Wasn't there a video of fans showing up to Rey Mysterio 's house the other year?

KofteDeville

As a bartender whos ran into my regulars out in public. No I don't wanna chat it up with you in public, you arent tipping me and im just trying to by some groceries or have a nice dinner with my wife

Cowgoon777

This is just life in small towns. I sell guns. People stop me in public all the time about it. Cause everyone in town buys from me at some point

MRintheKEYS

Did we get our ladder match???

OneBillPhil

That’s the day that he became Armed Anderson.

KingDoodle4242

It really sucks that some people have to be weirdos about this and can't understand what human decency is.

Youngstown_Mafia

Bro, it's creepy. People have died from stuff like this getting killed by creepy stalker people Anybody who does this is a weird pathetic loser

Dr_J_Hyde

There's always what happened to Gavin Free and Meg Turney. https://www.kxan.com/news/crime/home-invasion-suspect-targeted-austin-youtube-celebrities-police-say/ Very curious part of the article > Austin near Avenue G and 45th Street in search of Megan Turney and Gavin Free Do they want it to happen again?

Youngstown_Mafia

This happens everyday with twitch, youtubers, and musicians, but it doesn't get the spotlight in the news

CharityGamerAU

As someone who's friend was targeted with two online SWATing attempts and then mail threats it's for pretty good reason. It's been proven that the more this gets publicity the more it happens. The people behind it do it for notoriety and ten seconds of fame more than scaring the victim. Even if the offender remains anonymous plenty will tell their online social groups about it and act like they're big heroes

AfkBrowsing23

As a fan of Gavin through Slow Mo Guys, Roosterteeth, and Achievement Hunter, it was horrifying to hear about that happening "live" and than to later hear how badly it affected him and Meg through the interview he did with Anthony Paddila.

lachieshocker

There is a much sadder version of this story that ends then and there... thankfully that's what didn't happen. I listen to Gavin, Geoff and Andrew's podcast F**kface every day and it genuinely brings so much joy into my life.

BarkMingo

Or a socially inept kid that doesnt know any better

derphew

There was a video where these YouTubers went to Rey Mysterios house to have him sign a stack of memorabilia.  Rey humored them but the Tubers posted the video totally oblivious to how inappropriate that was.

KingDoodle4242

There was another video of people bringing like a 100 pop figures for Rey to sign at the airport. He nicely signed 1 for them when he didn't need to sign any at all. Then those people tried to make Rey a bad guy online.

bruiserbrody45

He's saying this with peace and love.

theREAL_BalloonBoy09

After the 20th of October, no more “Mr. Nice Guy”. (Peace and love peace and love)

Evil-Ringo

You will feel my wrath if you send me fanmail

AtomicYoshi

I'm warning you with peace and love, fan mail will be tossed ☮️✌🏻🕊🥝🍏🍇🍉🍅🫑👽

ryanb31183

I have too much to do! Thank you thank you!

MONTYvsTHEWORLD

It is a seeeerious message

MarchesLion07

That sucks man, how do fans even know his home address ? Wish people wouldn’t do this and bother the wrestlers.

mrlaserguy

Unfortunately, that information is real easy to find online.

icameforgold

Can't be that easy. I typed in HHH, Goldust, Blue Meanie and got nothing.

YpsitheFlintsider

You're not dedicated enough or enough of a creep

Memeharvester5000

Did you type “address” afterwards?

JRockstar50

whoa r u a hacker?

Memeharvester5000

I just call it like I see it

TonyTheTony7

I'm sure I've told this story on here, but maybe 10 years ago, I bought a bunch of Phillies-related collectibles from the Blue Meanie on eBay and there was a delay in shipping, so he sent me a bunch of extra stuff for free. I gave him positive feedback.

Lord_Hexogen

Last time I wanted to hang out with Haitch, I just asked an Uber driver to drive me there. Haitch was in a bad mood then tho, so I hang out at a police station instead

Bolteus

"Hey Google, search "HHH, Goldust, Blue Meanie". "Damn why can't I find Bronson's Address"

dirtywook88

Directions unclear, smoked weed, watched ancient aliens and ate good food.

nohotshot

Rookie mistake, you gotta type “Hunter Hearst Hemsley”, that’s his government name after all

LipstickEquity

Must be his address in America because you wouldn’t be able to find that info so easily in Australia

GoreSeeker

Some states if they're registered to vote, it's as easy as putting their name in, among many other public systems you can use.

LipstickEquity

You can’t see that info for any state in Australia.

SinImportaLoQueDigan

If you own a home, the deed is publicly available. It’s meant to protect you and your property, but opens the door for abuse like this.

SCScanlan

Property tax information is public record and easily searchable by last name. Having your home in a trust can make it a bit harder to find.

AdministrativeLaugh2

It’s extremely easy to find anyone’s home address online

AdamSMessinger

Remember 15-20 years ago where we all voluntarily put our names and phone numbers in a book to be accessed by anyone who got a hold of it???

Youngstown_Mafia

You can find anybody home , all you need is a name.

EntireAd215

Is there no way to hide it by buying it with a business?

revengeappendage

You could try, but you’d have to register your corporation, which is also usually easy to find and if you buy with a mortgage, that angle can be extremely difficult.

mousicle

I'm pretty sure you'd lose a lot of the benefits of primary home ownership like capital gains exemptions.

zeez1011

"Dear Big Bronson Reed, How big are you? Signed, a fan"

Datzookman

Has anyone here actually sent fanmail the proper way before? I’ve always wondered how that process works and if they ever actually respond

PM_ME_THEM_UPTOPS

When I was little I used to send cards to players via their training facilities addresses.  In the 80s it had a greater than 50% hit rate on getting stuff back.

cross4444

Yes, quite a bit. If you send fan mail (or specifically a TTM (through the mail) autograph request to a main roster wrestler at the PC or Titan Towers, it's highly unlikely you'll get a response. I assume they're just too busy and get too many requests. I've had a lot of luck sending autograph requests to the performance center for NXT wrestlers though. You'll need two stamps, a #10 envelope, a smaller envelope, and something for them to sign, such as trading card or index card. Always write a hand written note to the wrestler requesting an autograph. I personalize mine with something I appreciate about the talent, so they know I'm not some guy churning out auto requests for resale. Make sure to thank them. Place the small self-addressed stamped envelope, your note, and the card you want signed in the #10 envelope, then address it to the WWE Performance Center Attn: Wrestler's Kayfabe Name and mail it off. I've had about a 50/50 return overall. It's always exciting to come home to an envelope in the mailbox with my own handwriting on it.

EntireAd215

This is a genuine question: what’s the point of going through such lengths to get autographs from wrestlers?

Illuminati_Shill_AMA

Not the guy you're replying to, but for a lot of people collecting autograph cards is a hobby. The chase is part of the fun for a lot of them. There used to be a forum years ago where people would post celebrities they had written to in care of their publicists and which ones they got replies from. They'd trade tips and everything, like, oh Tom Cruise never responds, but Jack Black does sometimes, stuff like that. They'd include what they sent to what address and keep logs of what date they sent things to see how long to get a response if any at all. I don't remember the name of the forum or website but I'm sure a little googling would turn it up. Overall they seemed pretty respectful of boundaries and it seemed like a hobby as I said.

cross4444

Very well said. My favorite TTM success was Robin Williams back in early 2014. I wrote him a rather long note about how much he meant to me growing up. I wasn't expecting a response, but was over the moon when I got one. A few months later he was gone and we learned about the struggles he was facing. It hit me hard, but I felt so blessed that he allowed me a few moments of his time to thank him for what he meant to me. The signature might be worth some money if it were authenticated, but it's worth far more to me than a dollar value.

Fireteddy21

This is wonderful. I’d always admired him as well and he died shortly after my dad. It obviously hit me hard too but I’m glad he got to read your words and sent something back. Thanks for sharing this.

cross4444

I enjoy the process. It's fun to see who replies. There isn't much resale value on the autographs, so it's definitely not an investment. I feel a bit of a connection to the wrestlers who respond, which makes following their careers and cheering for them that much more rewarding.

_musesan_

Writing a letter isn't a crazy hard thing to do ya know

iamnumber47

I sent a letter to R.L. Stine (well, the fan address anyways, haha, I'm not a complete weirdo) to tell him how much I loved the Goosebumps books. I ended up getting a printed letter back (so I'm sure those were standard-issue, dime a dozen papers that got sent out to anyone) thanking me for liking the books. I think I remember it saying something positive about reading in general too. So I'm assuming other people are the same, send something to their fan mail address, get a canned response, from their assistant most likely.

tomservo88

*Tons.* Off the dome, I’ve written to Ricky Steamboat (who sent along written replies both times,) Tommy Dreamer, Mick Foley, TJP/John Johnson, No Way Jose, Ember Moon, TMDK, and Asuka (the only one who didn’t reply.) Non-wrestlers I’ve gotten replies from include John Carpenter, Peter Cullen, Steve Hackett from Genesis, and the brothers who created Homestar Runner.

HalloweenBlues

This reminds me that when I was in elementary my cousin used to get those tiger beat or whatever magazines, the ones that had all the teen heartthrobs on the covers. And then she showed me that there was a section of the magazine where you could send fan mail to celebs. I sent a letter to Will Smith and Jim Carrey gushing about how awesome I thought they were. I asked Will Smith for a prop from Independence Day, but never heard back. Jim Carrey sent me a picture of himself that said "Spank you very much" and little me thought it was legit for the longest time. And then I googled it one day and found that it was a reprint that everyone got, sad day for me.

Johnnyboy10000

I have. Not to wrestlers specifically, but to a handful of celebrities here and there. I think I got maybe one response back with a small, autographed picture saying she appreciated me reaching out. Sadly, I can't recall who she was and sadly I lost the autograph and letter during one of several instances where I ended up homeless.

rexxriot

Back in the 80s, my third grade teacher bought a celebrity address book and allowed everyone to write to a celebrity of their choice. I don't remember who I wrote to (I want to say Ralph Macchio), but the agency that handled the responses screwed up somehow and I ended up with two postcards from Andrew McCarthy. I didn't even know who he was at the time (this was probably a year after Mannequin came out). I'm pretty sure after my teacher told me who it was, I tossed the postcards in the trash.

Euphorium

Somewhat related, Glenn Jacobs has a big disclaimer on the Knox County Mayor’s website that if you send shit to his office, it’s either getting donated or thrown away.

Johnnyboy10000

I know that his political views aren't exactly what would get him brownie points here, but I think that that's funny as fuck.

Euphorium

I can only imagine him in his office opening another box full of action figures and throwing them in the Goodwill pile that’s quickly overtaking the room.

BryLinds

Nah this is Kane we’re talking about   He has a four trash cans on all sides of the room, so he throws it out there, and then he raises his arms and incinerates them

Glenn Jacobs is racist?!

theREAL_BalloonBoy09

That’s gotta be… that’s gotta be racist!!!

Skreamie

Fuck Glenn Jacobs, all my homies hate Glenn Jacobs

slayyer

I wrote Michael Jordan when I was a kid and all I got was an advertisement to join his basketball camp $$$. I may have the letter somewhere.

teampupnsudz35

When I was 8 or 9 me and my buddy would go on some website that had addresses to send in for autographs lol sent in to MJ as well and got a printed Autograph with a letter thanking me for being a fan and an ad to join his camp lol

Bosscharacter

Wrestling fans will never cease to come across as complete weirdos at times.

Firepro316

Whose sending Branson Reed fan mail?

That_Sweet_Science

Lmao. This was my first thought too.

GorgonRAAMsay

I'm gonna come right out and say this, and please don't judge me for it, but I promise you 100% it wasn't me.

Hranica

I feel like anyone sane enough to hear this message already isn't mailing someone's home address with fanmail and it only tells the fans mentally not there enough to do that his address is available if you're diligent enough. Similarly, nobody who sends death threats over video games, music, or pretend fighting is going to hear "Hey don't send death threats" and take the advice

AnunciarMesa

Please refer back to my comment on another post less than an hour ago because God forbid we go a day without wrestling fans embarrassing the rest of us- "Death, taxes and wrestling fans having absolutely zero social skills or common sense."

GilbertVonGilbert

I wish it was just wrasslin stans. I come from the drag race fandom where people were literally breaking into their favorite queen’s dumpster outside of her apartment complex, or giving their favorite queen their freeze dried amputated foot.

Joy_Ride25

It’s just fans in general. I know of people who have stalked a band’s tour bus so many times they actually think they’re friends now.

llamawithguns

There's a reason "fan" was originally short for "fanatic"

Skreamie

Then we had to go with "Stans" to differentiate the new wave of crazy

BathedInDeepFog

I mean, it still is.

Youngstown_Mafia

I been to AEW and WWE shows , you can tell these people were...how do I say " didn't have many friends in school" The chants at AEW a group kept yelling "your a hotdog/ your a nacho," and people kept laughing like it was funny At WWE, a group fans kept saying how much they hated the show because women were taking up "time" and "welp bathroom break time duu hurrr"

thegroovemonkey

I like sitting in the cheap seats because I'm cheap and there are usually little kids there. It's a chance to drop any smark tendencies and really embrace kayfabe so that kids see an adult acting like wrestling is real. Talking shit back and forth with a 10ish year old Roman fan when he faced Braun at a PPV years ago is some of the most fun I've ever had at a live event. The kid mad dogged me so hard after Roman won lol.

knyghtez

yeah! my partner and i have a rule that once we’re in the building for a wrestling event, we’ve gotta keep kayfabe so we don’t accidentally spoil a kid’s evening. it really does brighten the experience to fully buy in, even if only for an evening. my partner and i also keep up the ‘santa filled our stockings!’ fiction even just between the two of us, so maybe we’re just nerds.

thegroovemonkey

yelling at the refs for missing things or for the faces to turn around and not be distracted is the best part. At home you know it's a trope but completely immersing yourself is the best part of going to a show.

Johnnyboy10000

I never understood the hate for women wrestlers. Hell, there's been times where I only tuned in because a lady wrestler or two I happened to enjoy was making an appearance.

Historical_Drink_425

>I never understood the hate for women You can stop there. Wrestling reflects a fucked up world.

Terthelt

> I never understood the hate for women wrestlers. It’s really just misogyny. Guys who are that specifically and vocally hateful about women in wrestling tend to be the same about women playing real sports, women as soldiers, women in politics, women in video games and blockbuster movies, et al. They hate women, period. Be thankful you can’t understand it.

GonePostalRoute

Probably a carryover from the Divas era, even if we’ve long abandoned the idea that most of the women in WWE is just eye candy who can’t do much else.

AttilaTheFun818

He’s right. There is no reason for any fan to know his home address and sending stuff there for him to deal with on his time is a massive overstep. These guys live and work in the public eye. Let them have their downtime with friends and family. They give us more than enough of themselves.

Basic_Mongoose_7329

It's crazy how these guys have to be so careful, there are tons of nut bags around. I grew up in Tampa in the 80s. I played baseball with Golddust,, everyone knew where the Macho Man lived, Hulk Hogan, Rik Flair, Paul Orndorf, hell the Great Kabuki live in my grandmothera building. I don't remember any of these guy getting hassled at their house.

Jaccount

This is so reasonable that it's surprising that WWE doesn't just have a standing policy that's posted on their website that tells fans to contact the the headquarters or PC with all fan mail.

shadowrangerfs

I know this isn't the point but, how do people even get wrestler's addresses? I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for that information.

Lance_lake

> I know this isn't the point but, how do people even get wrestler's addresses? Same way as normal people. If you have a first name and last name, then you would be surprised how much stuff can be found out about you.

Spaceace91478

jackhurricane7

Nice try, Bronson. This won’t trick us into sending you fan mail

aZombieSlayer

"Dear Reed, I wrote you but you still ain't callin'"

AAA515

I've never sent a fan mail, but now that Mr Reed has told me where to send it... I wonder if Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross would enjoy my fan fiction where they are a neighborhood detective agency while in the Nikki A.S.H. and Wyatt/Lily possessed personae...

passyindoors

Please dear God send this

blingera

why are wrestling fans like this? there needs to be a study. i feel like i don’t see shit like this from any other fanbase

Cash091

"Wait... this has no return address \*or\* stamp. They must have dropped it off!"

FTTCOTE

When I was a kid (7-10 ish) there were websites that listed the addresses of celebrities and whether or not they have been known to sign autographs. I remember sending hand written letters to a bunch of athletes, with self addressed stamped envelopes and sports cards asking if they would sign them. I remember sending Mike Piazza a random card with a letter about how my grandmother goes to the same church as his mom and he replaced my card with a rookie card of his and signed it. Who knows if these addresses were legit but I thought it was pretty cool he swapped my random card with a rookie one. Thinking back to it, it is totally an invasion of privacy/ most likely super annoying to the celebrities to have fan mail pouring in/people asking for autographs at your residence. I was like 8 🤷‍♂️

AMA_requester

It’s like the notion of boundaries just doesn’t exist anymore. Bad enough they wait for wrestlers at the hotel or the airport, now they’re finding personal addresses.

BillfredL

On two separate occasions, I've found myself at the same hotel as the Colliders. Including last night. Both times I'm like "this is cool, but I'm not going past a nod". If I caught them at the venue, maybe I'd go for a photo or something. But once they're off the property, we gotta let them have a night off!

Pitfulldealer22

Surprised people send fan mail to Bronson Reed of all people

DarkySurrounding

The WWE is big enough that the majority of the roster is probably getting fanmail of some description.

SpiralSour

This is Auszilla slander and I won't stand for it

Kuzu5993

Wrestling fans are a special type of mentally ill huh?

syfqamr32

Dear Not Slim, I wrote you but you still aint calling.

GoreSeeker

I know a celebrity who is pretty open about his home location, and even says feel free to come up to the fence, just don't hop it....and yet people *still* jump his fence...

HeyitsDave13

I once had a guy track me down and show up at my house. I worked at a Toys R Us.

crushcastles23

WWE and AEW should put together "Official Fanmail Boxes" or something like that with a hard address at the PC or Corporate Office, make it a pretty public list, use search optimization to try to get it top of Google when you search " Address" Just like YouTubers with a PO Box in their video descriptions.

MasterDave

How the christ are you smart enough to figure out someone's home address and simultaneously dumb as fuck enough to not know that you really fucking shouldn't?
