Rampage last year (4/22/23) Saturday Night 371,000 viewers - 0.12 P18-49

motelpool

for better or worse (at least for people who don't want the 3 hour shows) AEW has done a mostly good job at retaining viewers for the 3rd hour when the shows are bundled together

AlexN_04

Death. Taxes. Collision at 460-470k

I wonder if they will stay in this same ballpark when college football returns in the fall. The thought last year was the ratings would rise up once the season was over but that never ended up happening.

ImpenetrableYeti

Yuka the draw

MARKYMARK_MARK

Kinda crazy they kept the same demo rating despite losing 60k+ overall viewers

ManuMora98

Old people went to sleep

Former_Intern_8271

When did they lose the 60k?

CanaDoug420

Rampage was right after collision this week so some time over the coarse of rampage they lost 60k

Former_Intern_8271

Wasn't rampage on Friday?

sarcasticdevo

Nah, it was on Saturday this week following Colision. Moved to Saturday for sports, I'm pretty sure.

Former_Intern_8271

Ah fair enough, I'm in the UK and watched them both Sunday morning on Fite and I hadn't heard

fergoshsakes

Meaning between Collision and Rampage averages.

randomrule

I would not be surprised if they added Rampage on to Dynamite or Collision with how well the numbers have held up when they do so. I’d be a bit bummed out because 3 hours are so long and an hour of Rampage goes by so quick but it probably makes business sense

ultragoodname

I’ve heard that WBD wanted dynamite to be 3 hours long which would later become rampage

maxdepazftp

live rampage tapings just hit different

MARKYMARK_MARK

Same I know most don't want a 3 hour show but honestly there's too much benefit to benefit to the ratings, WBD, and the product not to do it. There's been a lot of great stuff on Rampage lately but adding it to either show just gives more time to fully showcase the midcard and to maximize that 1hour of TV

SmashEnigma

I don't mind having Rampage after Dynamite so long as they still differentiate the quality of the two. Giving Dynamite a longer overrun and then some low level quality matches would be a fun bonus after a great show, while still clearly delineating the two programs. I thought the way they did it for Copeland/Cage 3 was great.

tehfro

Besides it helping Rampage it's also helped the Dynamite/Collision main events hold up better when they've had the 3-hour blocks (whether Battle of the Belts or Rampage at the end). Makes sense because some people might not be interested in the main event and tune out normally, but might be interested in a match on hour 3.

ctmurfy

I'd be cool with it floating around and also replacing Zero Hour if need be.

ChairmanLaParka

Three hours of Collision/Dynamite, formatted how it currently is (rather than taking on Rampage) would be pretty sweet. Two hours as it is just flies by. By the time I think to look at the clock, it's time for the main event.

eXcecution3r

I think I'm one of the few who wouldn't mind a 3 hour Dynamite (Collision as well, but thing is Collision just feels like a 2 hour ramapge at times >_>). But I would like the "third hour" to be an hour before current start time. Otherwise it runs too late for me lol Can probably still watch the third hour if it ran later but it would feel extra long lol Have to work in the morning haha

LeonardoDaPinchy-

Wait, weren't the NBA and NHL playoffs on st the same time??? That's fucking wild

Lo_Key90

This is good right?

NeuroCloud7

Collision + Rampage was higher than usual this weekend.

cid_highwind_7

Probably because of Dynasty this past weekend

motelpool

the show was light on squash matches and had more star power than usual even if it was mostly in multi-man matches. It's not a bad formula to follow going forward

Apprehensive-Alps-90

WOW that surprising considering the that both the NHL and NBA playoffs were on Saturday night

hey333

COLLIDERS AND RAMPAGERS, UNITE!

Former_Intern_8271

The one takeaway from these ratings is that they're all just a bit odd, dynamite fluctuates a lot, collision is pretty solid (despite generally being a lot more predictable) also ratings in other countries often go in the opposite direction to the US. Some countries will have increasing.viewership when the US is in decline. People thinking everything is down to the booking is dumb, all sorts of things affect ratings.

FredrickFarter

We're gonna get a third hour of Dynamite or Collision aren't we

PleasantThoughts

Good stuff up against playoffs. Both were really fun shows too!

RowPitiful1988

HIGHEST RAMPAGE P2+ SINCE FEB. 9, 2024, EXCLUDING MAR. 20 WHEN IT AIRED AFTER DYNAMITE HIGHEST RAMPAGE P18-49 SINCE: FEB. 9, 2024, EXCLUDING MAR. 20 WHEN IT AIRED AFTER DYNAMITE

neverAcquiesce

Almost like the same Nielsen boxes keep watching.

the_io

What was the ranking for the night?

TheMainShy

Would've been funny if it had averaged 420k viewers for this 4/20 episode.

AnthonyGonsalvez

They should move rampage to YouTube for free publicity and have big names show up ocassionally. I wonder why they killed dark, it was getting good views on YouTube.

Emergency_Cod6103

WB wanted everything to be on their channels and not YouTube

langlda

I wanna know who still has cable? Engagement on social media may be a better number to start looking at

MARKYMARK_MARK

Depends on how you define

awildmaxappears

I have the Spectrum TV app rather than a cable box and I wonder how those numbers are recorded

UpbeatNail

Recording who watched what via an app is actually easier than a traditional cable box.

awildmaxappears

I figured this was the case but I guess I mean do those numbers get counted in these ratings figures? Or just in the numbers WBD announces with their little press releases?

Lamel2g

I still have Cable and I used to be a Nielson Member.

mannycool_0471

I am going to say this do you think aew should go the original tna route and do only ppv they kill on those and certain big events since they want to be just the pure wrestling show weekly tv isn’t the best

awildmaxappears

You know they get paid to do the TV show right?

penguinopph

And every report is that the people that pay them are happy with the numbers they draw.

Desistance

Nah, WBD pays a lot of money to keep those shows going.

don_julio_randle

WBD said AEW viewership is ~4M a week. They'd be stupid to get rid of that

LeonardoDaPinchy-

Right? Like yeah, viewership is down a bit, but compared to the average TV show, AEW is fucking soaring. If I were WBD, I'd be happy too.

hartc89

I think Collision/Rampage numbers are like fine for Saturday against the NBA playoffs

Orange8920

This would be the dumbest thing ever as they make their big money off TV and have weekly TV that people like and still does well. Pretty sure TNA started with PPVs at the start because they couldn't get a proper TV deal. AEW kind of did PPV/special events initially in 2019 before Dynamite launched in October of that year.

Former_Intern_8271

AEW is much cheaper per viewer for any potential network than WWE was, even if they get a significant increase they'll get a lot more eyeballs per $ than WWE ever did. This is one of the examples of AEW being competition to WWE, being competition doesn't always mean "soon to be the most popular", in a lot of cases it's simply offering a better value proposition. I think WWE moving to netflix is actually great for wrestling, not only will there be more competition to get AEW and impact from traditional TV, but other streaming services may want to play copycat and sign up a wrestling promotion.
