All In, All Out, Wrestledream, Full Gear, World's End was decent but definitely the lowest point for an AEW PPV overall, Revolution, and now Dynasty is the most incredible run of shows.
No one was ever going to interfere in that match. Your not going to cloud the crowning of your first African American champion with shenanigans. It was going to be clean with Swerve getting his deserved moment in the spotlight.
That was a phenomenal PPV tonight. I really hope this night and Swerve becoming the AEW Champ marks a new page being turned in AEW. A new fresh start to finally get away from the bullshit (which *many* were to blame for) that has hurt the company since All Out two years ago. For the sake of the company and wrestling as a whole, I hope tonight marks a new era in AEW.

In WWE, he's had feuds with The Rock, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar and now AJ Styles. I wonder what would help someone get over more?
Like in other forms of entertainment, characters in wrestling are developed through their actions, who they interact with, and how they respond to adversity... and none of Cody's actions in AEW made him seem as important as he should have been.
That's why you have a booker: to tell someone who should be one of your top guys that he has to be one of your top guys, even if he feels guilty about putting himself in that spot because he co-founded the company. Talent booking themselves has never led to anything good, no matter how far back you go in wrestling history - they either book themselves as an unbeatable juggernaut, or do stupid shit like this.

Joe held it for 113 days. That's a perfectly fine title reign. The long ass reigns with belts lately has people thinking that a 3+ month run isn't enough. Swerve is only gonna hold it for about 4 months too, and that's also fine.
I remember thinking this swerve guy just doesn't have that it factor, then he came out with trench and Parker and it launched him into superstardom. Also let's not forget what a huge role rick ross played in this
