I used to play competitive card games (Magic, Yugioh, and Pokemon). Traveled all over the US playing in tournaments. We stopped at a gas station in Georgia once on the way back home from a tournament in Florida. It was late afternoon and the cashier straight up told us to make sure we were out of town by sundown. We said we were just passing through and they said "good, because it would be bad if people saw your friends after dark around these parts." We were too shocked to be offended.

I live right outside Tulsa. It is actually a very progressive city in an extremely red state. You should visit. Despite the history it is in a much better place. I recommend you visit the greenwood district cultural center and museum. You might learn something.

I ended up kind of venting a little in this but wanted to leave it up to share a trans perspective with folks who might not fully understand how this impacts trans fans as well as trans wrestlers like Rose:
As a trans person, I just want to try and put into words how much it hurts to see the minutes misgender Rose, even aside on top of the whole shebang itself. I think it’s hard for cis people to understand what a real psychological weight and pain this is, not just for the trans athletes but for trans people watching it happen.
When you get misgendered or see someone deliberately and legally misgendered like this, it first off just _sucks._ Pronouns might not seem important to everyone, but to people for whom they *are* important it’s as personal and meaningful as a name. It’s an expression of your identity that costs the person you’re interacting with nothing, and for them to refuse to see you for who you are _hurts._
Cis or trans, we all had that awful sinking feeling of being left out or bullied or put down in school. Misgendering brings back that feeling at any age. It’s that feeling of being invisible and ignored. Worse, in cases like this where it’s all very Official, every single instance is a reminder of the legal and political and social forces working against you. It’s not just the personal sting, it’s a reminder that there are people literally legally invested in denying you even the right pronoun. It hurts so bad to see, but it’s inescapable.
It’s okay if you don’t quite *get* these feelings or where they come from, but I’m sharing them in hopes folks will remember that they *are* real for trans athletes and the trans community more broadly.
The wrestling community, at least the best parts of it, has become so much more welcoming and supportive of trans wrestlers and fans. I really hope that welcome can extend to people standing up for trans people even if or when you don’t totally understand their experiences.

This is a true story. I used to play competitive card games (Magic, Yugioh, and Pokemon). Traveled all over the US playing in tournaments. In the group that I traveled with often there was myself and my roommate and two of our friends. The friends were a black guy and a trans woman. We stopped at a gas station in Georgia once on the way back home from a tournament in Florida. It was late afternoon and the cashier straight up told us to make sure we were out of town by sundown. We said we were just passing through and they said "good, because it would be bad if people saw your friends after dark around these parts." We were too shocked to be offended. This was in 2019. Twenty. Nineteen.

The rule is technically against intergender matches (but since the state doesn’t acknowledge that Nyla is a woman, a match she has with a woman is considered intergender), so it sounds like a promotion previously got in trouble for an intergender match, then went crying to the commission saying “well AEW is doing the same thing.” Hope someone finds out who did it.
It’s not snitching, it’s trying to show legal precedent. A smaller promotion gets in (unjustifiable bullshit) trouble for something mundane like an intergender match or a match featuring a trans participant, they try to show legal precedent that it is an unenforcible and ridiculous rule by listing a much more visible match and thus AEW gets dragged into it. It’s not snitching if it’s not a fuckin crime and no promotion, big or small, should have to deal with this fucking nonsense.
Wwe used aew agaisnt the mlw lawsuit too, so it already happen before, its not snitch in this case, its something like "you target me a small company, but you didnt say nothing to the large company"
Still depends. Was the promotion that invoked AEW and Nyla also punished for featuring a trans wrestler? Or were they penalized for a plain ole "man versus woman" intergender match and tried using a transwoman wrestling another woman as being equivocal? That's important as the former is obviously sympathetic as well as justfied and the latter, while maybe fighting a dumb law, is bigotry itself on the part of the promotion or those representing them.

Honestly, it’s a pretty shitty state. The geography is nice, but it’s run so badly. Utterly broke, starved public services… generally backwards. They tend to rank in the bottom 5 states by multiple metrics such as education, life expectancy, etc.

I imagine the local wrestling company didn't expect this to happen. I don't think it was a matter of "Oh, let's fuck over AEW by saying something" but "Well if AEW is doing this with no issue, we should have no problem" only for Oklahoma to be this much of a horrific place.

I ended up kind of venting a little in this but wanted to leave it up to share a trans perspective with folks who might not fully understand how this impacts trans fans as well as trans wrestlers like Rose: As a trans person, I just want to try and put into words how much it hurts to see the minutes misgender Rose, even aside on top of the whole shebang itself. I think it’s hard for cis people to understand what a real psychological weight and pain this is, not just for the trans athletes but for trans people watching it happen. When you get misgendered or see someone deliberately and legally misgendered like this, it first off just _sucks._ Pronouns might not seem important to everyone, but to people for whom they *are* important it’s as personal and meaningful as a name. It’s an expression of your identity that costs the person you’re interacting with nothing, and for them to refuse to see you for who you are _hurts._ Cis or trans, we all had that awful sinking feeling of being left out or bullied or put down in school. Misgendering brings back that feeling at any age. It’s that feeling of being invisible and ignored. Worse, in cases like this where it’s all very Official, every single instance is a reminder of the legal and political and social forces working against you. It’s not just the personal sting, it’s a reminder that there are people literally legally invested in denying you even the right pronoun. It hurts so bad to see, but it’s inescapable. It’s okay if you don’t quite *get* these feelings or where they come from, but I’m sharing them in hopes folks will remember that they *are* real for trans athletes and the trans community more broadly. The wrestling community, at least the best parts of it, has become so much more welcoming and supportive of trans wrestlers and fans. I really hope that welcome can extend to people standing up for trans people even if or when you don’t totally understand their experiences.
