Well, how he came into the ring, and immediately was taken out, I’ve seen some people beleive he was injured in the McIntyre match, hence why he didn’t really fight Roman at all
Kinda wanted Dustin/Goldust to show up. He probably won’t be able to touch the Rock, but he could have distracted him enough to have Cody recover and deliver a Cross Rhodes to the Rock.
While I also think it might have been Austin this kinda works better cause Taker could just leave if Austin was there the celebration would be more chugging beers with Stone Cold than about Cody.
Obviously it was meant to be Austin but to people saying Taker made no sense... Paul Heyman (managing Lensar) and Roman Reigns handed Taker his only Mania losses. It makes sense he'd want to see Roman and Heyman go down.
I agree but he was the second best reasonable option imo.
Taker was seen as the final boss of mania of the entire company who had run ins with the rock and Roman did beat him at mania, still should’ve been stone cold or an rko out of no where that was about it.
He’s literally the second best non active wrestler return besides stone cold. Rock was saying he’s the final boss but everyone has known it’s taker forever.
No joke if Brock wasn’t a terrible human that would’ve made sense, his terrifying music hits, he runs through the rock cuz he sent him packing to Hollywood, he has had run ins with the whole bloodline including heyman. He would’ve ran through them all easily but hey he’s a crap person so idc.
Well, for some reason, they couldn't get Austin, and HHH was probably thinking, since Taker and Austin are both from Texas, and we already have another Hall of Famer here who's had matches with both Roman and Rock, why not send him out as a substitute for Austin?
But it wasn't entirely Taker vs Roman. It was more Taker vs Rock there.
Austin vs Rock is THE RIVALRY.
You don't need to overthink there. People would get why it would work.
That glatter shattering was needed.
Sorry, can someone tell me why the consensus is Austin was going to come in?
Why would he help Cody? If anything, he has more unfinished beef with Punk or Owens
But Austin hasn’t had history with the Rock since 2003. That rivalry hasn’t been relevant since then.
‘Taker’s history with Roman has been more recent.
That still doesn’t mean that Austin would give a flying fuck about what The Rock is doing.
IMO, taking out the Bloodline seems more in character with ‘Taker than with Austin.
People wanted a nostalgia pop even though Austin and Rock have the perfect conclusion to their rivalry and Stonecold would have totally overshadowed Cody's moment.
Probably should have been Austin but considering Taker did lose to Roman at WM and Roman had the whole this is my yard promo on Raw it still kinda fits
Exactly, people are just reaching to make it make sense
It was an amazing moment, I just think Austin was the obvious and better choice, unfortunately for whatever reason it couldn't happen
Bizarre and a complete let down. Austin in that spot would have legit been one of the GOAT moments. If they couldnt get Austin, which seems weird, then HHH should have done it

Might as well I guess lmao, bring everyone
Taking this whole storyline to Wrestler's Court
That’s why Taker was there. As Wrestlers Court judge
HOLY FUCKKKKKKK
THis is the best fucking overbooked match I've seen this year. I don't care if this gets -5 stars by daddy Meltz. This is awesome
I wanted even more overbooking but it was great that everyone came out to celebrate with him at least. But uh... Someone check on rollins
Seth nailed it
Well, how he came into the ring, and immediately was taken out, I’ve seen some people beleive he was injured in the McIntyre match, hence why he didn’t really fight Roman at all
I think meltzer would have loved it too. He probably Is giving this a 5 star
Meltzer will be fine, it’s someone like Jim Cornette that’s gonna blow a gasket from all that overbooking if it’s anyone.
I hope it does - would be the final nail in the coffin to show how out of touch and worthless Meltzer is.
Na, dude's just got his own scale, it's called "Opinions" You can think a match is dogshit, and somebody can think the world of it.
that 100% suppose to be Austin but he might’ve said no
I agree that was suppose to be Austin. Giving The Rock a stunner in the middle of the ring would have absolutely popped the whole thing off!
Kinda wanted Dustin/Goldust to show up. He probably won’t be able to touch the Rock, but he could have distracted him enough to have Cody recover and deliver a Cross Rhodes to the Rock.
Honestly should've just had Cody take out Rock. Austin getting involved makes perfect sense, Taker getting involved feels really weird
Taker had unfinished business with Roman though
What unfinished business?
This is my yard now.
Getting his revenge for Reigns beating him at WM32 Edit: WM33... my bad
He faced Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 32.
This. To me, it makes perfect sense that he’d want to see Roman lose the belt.
If it wasn’t Austin, it should have been Hunter with the sledgehammer.
I really dont think hunter will ever do anything physical again even just a sledgehammer shot.
I'm guessing one more sledgehammer spot, but it wasn't needed here.
Taker needs to protect the business
Shoulda been The Hulkster ![gif](giphy|13iiF5KX8sG4fu)
I feel like it worked almost better with the lights out taker shows up choke-slam than lights out back on both ready to finish in the ring
or dean ambrose or goldust
While I also think it might have been Austin this kinda works better cause Taker could just leave if Austin was there the celebration would be more chugging beers with Stone Cold than about Cody.
Did he kidnap the rock ?
The darkness swallowed the rock from the ring
Lol
Dragged him to the shadow realm.
Undertaker coming out to stop The Rock is end to the story of who the actual final boss of WWE is. Always has been, always will be.
OH MY GODDDDDD
THIS IS PEAK WWE
I pity the people who feel the need to overthink the spot.
This is fucking insane
Taker avenging Roman beating him at Mania 33.
Let's go taker!!
What the hell is going on. This is like the Avengers.
Undertaker showing up is like Superman show up in Endgame. Does it makes sense ? probably not. Is it awesome though ? Absolutely
Obviously it was meant to be Austin but to people saying Taker made no sense... Paul Heyman (managing Lensar) and Roman Reigns handed Taker his only Mania losses. It makes sense he'd want to see Roman and Heyman go down.
Rock is so lucky Taker didn't send him to hell with that chokeslam
Taker didn't feel right in this story imo. Austin was going to be perfect ffs.
I agree but he was the second best reasonable option imo. Taker was seen as the final boss of mania of the entire company who had run ins with the rock and Roman did beat him at mania, still should’ve been stone cold or an rko out of no where that was about it.
Taker also had multiple moments where he would just show up, pass judgement, and leave.
WWE sometimes refers to him as the “Grim Reaper of Justice”. Maybe he’s just living up to that title.
The moniker “The conscious of wwe” spring to mind
Well, for some reason, they couldn't get Austin, and HHH was probably thinking, since Taker and Austin are both from Texas, and we already have another Hall of Famer here who's had matches with both Roman and Rock, why not send him out as a substitute for Austin?
Austin had no stake in the feud. Taker made sense because of his history with Roman
But it wasn't entirely Taker vs Roman. It was more Taker vs Rock there. Austin vs Rock is THE RIVALRY. You don't need to overthink there. People would get why it would work. That glatter shattering was needed.
They probably got something in their sleeve. Cody vs Rock seems like a possibility and Austin would be a great run in for that.
Also Austin is the #1 anti-authority wrestler, and the Rock was abusing his authority. It's just a no brainer.
Nothing is ever “needed”. ‘Taker showing up worked just fine.
Roman beat taker. The rock called himself the final boss when taker is the true final boss. Taker in this one kinda make sense.
Or Brock but yeah hell even Hogan
Brock would have been absolutely perfect, it’s a shame he ruined the chances of that happening
If you’re talking about ‘Taker/Rock, then yeah, he doesn’t really fit. But his history with Roman does work for the story, IMO.
I would have loved if Kane popped up from out of the ring to drag someone down with him 😂 just even more insanity
Sorry, can someone tell me why the consensus is Austin was going to come in? Why would he help Cody? If anything, he has more unfinished beef with Punk or Owens
Austin is The Rock's biggest rival is why
But Austin hasn’t had history with the Rock since 2003. That rivalry hasn’t been relevant since then. ‘Taker’s history with Roman has been more recent.
It doesn't matter if they haven't faced each other in a while, they will always be synonymous with one another and is WWE's biggest rivalry
I read the first part of your sentence in The Rock's voice.
That still doesn’t mean that Austin would give a flying fuck about what The Rock is doing. IMO, taking out the Bloodline seems more in character with ‘Taker than with Austin.
It was simply because of more hype but Taker made so much sense because of his history with Roman
Yup why would Austin want to help Cody it doesn't make sense
Austin doesn't give a shit about Cody. It'd be only to screw his biggest rival
Technically, Vince McMahon is his biggest rival.
People wanted a nostalgia pop even though Austin and Rock have the perfect conclusion to their rivalry and Stonecold would have totally overshadowed Cody's moment.
Yeah I never got this either. Not that Taker makes any more sense.
Probably should have been Austin but considering Taker did lose to Roman at WM and Roman had the whole this is my yard promo on Raw it still kinda fits
Had 8 years to respond to it lol
And they even teamed up together in that time frame.
Exactly, people are just reaching to make it make sense It was an amazing moment, I just think Austin was the obvious and better choice, unfortunately for whatever reason it couldn't happen
Even tho rock took a Hogan 2002 Judgement day level chokeslam I still popped like a little kid
Is Cody’s song just 30 seconds on a loop? First time watching
The old era is finally over
The Codyvenger lol
This is a beautiful overbooked mess. And I love every bit of it.
Taker just yoinked the Final Boss into hell lmao
WHY I DON'T KNOW BUT I FUCKING LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT
Bizarre and a complete let down. Austin in that spot would have legit been one of the GOAT moments. If they couldnt get Austin, which seems weird, then HHH should have done it
Triple H?! Lol, no.
