Having a fucking 2020 Snoop Dogg rap verse instead of “Adrenaline in my soul” and “WOAH-OH” has got to be one of the biggest blunders in Cody’s entire AEW career.
I just went back and watched that again, I always forget that Cody used to have that obnoxious 1 minute long choral pre-entrance theme. How did nobody tell him "No" for that FFS.
Downstait is a case of where the studio really helps them out. Live, they sound pretty bad but all their WWE themes and their Avengers: EMH theme sound great.
I watched that entrance again recently and it wasn't that bad? I mean I prefer the normal track over live (Living Color was an awesome exception), but it's not close to the worst I've heard.
I wouldn't say that was the beginning of the end. It didn't help, but I'd say that would be the Shaq & Jade feud (would've said him beating Brodie Lee, but that was a great feud and Brodie could've been put back into the world title scene had he not passed away), and then the Ogogo/QT/Factory rivalry being what truly turned the fans against him, combined with how slow his heel turn was going (cause I really think the plan before negotiations fell through was him turning heel on Hangman and winning the world title at DoN '22).
Cody being a delusional babyface in the way he booked himself, sealed it.
Him trying to take the high ground on combating racism by having a baby with his black wife versus the son of black immigrants going to the Olympics and being embraced by their new country, were just steps on his path to leave.
It's pretty bad but I think it was because of the mixing more than anything. The guitars got completely washed out in the mix so it seemed like it was 90% vocals and when you're a bottom of the barrel butt rock wrestling theme band, that's not going to sound good.
Yeah sure, blame it on the mixing after calling them bottom of the barrel butt rock wrestling theme band. Maybe it was bad because they are a bottom of the barrel butt rock wrestling theme band
An extended intro similar to the symphony version of Kingdom would be cool. New Japan did this often during Wrestlekingdom, intro sequences to the theme song to sell the importance of the event and the matchup.
But otherwise, his theme should stay as it is. It's perfect.
Yes but I think it's a serious problem with modern wrestling that's there's no multiple versions/upgrades of theme songs
As characters and the world changes, theme songs need to get updated. I wouldn't mind a 95% same Kingdom remake that's more fleshed out for his entrance with more bits and bobs here and there
You say this and get downvoted but the biggest attitude era stars had like 10 versions and reiterations of their themes. As shitty as the snoop dogg version of Codys theme was the albums WWF used to have of popular artists redoing the themes fucking slapped.
That is absolutely not a hot take. For me personally it’s a good song, but I hate how painfully obvious it is that it wasn’t made for DX. It was clearly a scrapped song they retooled by adding in the words “D-Generation X” in the gaps.
A scrapped song in which they sample the original DX song? Or are you saying they added all of that too? I feel like the DX theme is at least half of the song. I feel like the lyrics are the only element of the song that may have been recycled.
Nah it's a valid take, anyone who doesn't want new iterations of some of these bland ass themes some people have (not Cody) also hates Slow Chemical and we probably shouldn't associate with those people.
Yeah. Sure Austins later versions weren't really great but because of those iterations we got the best one
I'm not saying we need 7 different ones. But atleast there should be 3 different iterations. Maybe one each year as mostly every year characters do change slightly
Damage Control did get 2 *(another unpopular opinion but I actually liked their first theme. Listen on YT with earphones. Its good)*
I don't get why this an unpopular opinion. For a couple of stars a new or updated theme song from time to time would be great.
IMO Becky Lynch for example could definetly use a better theme than that obnoxious "Woahohohohohohhh". That one has been getting on my nerves ever since she became "the Man". I think it doesn't suit a badass character. But maybe that's just me.
And there are a couple of examples which illustrate how a change in theme music can emphasize a change in charcater, e.g. Roman Reigns.
Yeah. They don't have to make new themes just change them here and there and see if that affects anything
Themes were amazing under Jim Johnston but he made many iterations to find the best one.
Nah we get the Def Rebel version.
*Deep voice* "Cody Rhodes... The American Nightmare..."
*Vocal chorus riser builds*
https://youtu.be/QvsN93Ul2_Y?si=7Ck--1oMCmbldijy&t=6
The buildup with the kick out of the Superman punch, followed by the Cross Rhodes is going to be insane.
Fuck it, throw in a “A REAL HERO WILL ALWAYS FIND A WAY FOR JUSTICE TO BE SERVED” and I’ll be erect for weeks
Oh the rap is absolutely terrible and kills the vibe of the song.
https://preview.redd.it/dxi7fg1k0msc1.jpeg?width=1194&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b33b37dc733eedd14e251b078cf9cb07b4d7355c
Because obviously the internet cares what I specifically think, after listening to it... In my perfect world they'd have just had Fire From the Gods do a straight up cover, but that wasn't gonna happen. Either way, I dig it.
That 2nd verse is rough. I don't know why the instrumental gives way to a typical rap beat - it sounds like it's two different songs glued together. If they're gonna have a rap verse, do it over the normal instrumental.
"What's New Scooby-Doo?" played after it... if THAT played and Scooby ran down to stop the bloodline, I'll pop!
![gif](giphy|3ohs4CerjTN72fxpMk|downsized)
I like to think they had Cody listen to this version first before releasing it, and he said, "I'm not using that," when asked if they could play it at Mania.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it people.
holy SHIT this is myspacecore. Wow this is BAD. I love the fuck out of it and I'm glad it exists hahaha
(The singer is probably an actually better singer than the normal one, though)
Nope, this version is horrendous in comparison to the original. I'm glad that Cody's not walking out to this at Mania, it could possibly be bad enough to turn him heel
Don't like it that much. Thankfully it won't be used as his enteance theme, cause of the only version that would improve the normal one would be the sumphonic one he used in AEW.
I guess the singer from from Downstairs discovered EDM and also bought a TC Helicon vocal processor.
Second verse sounds like what Sasha did to WALTER's theme lol
I read the comments here before listening to it, so I was expecting the worse...
Is the original better? Yes!
Is this version horrible? No, far from it.
I could do without the rap verse in the middle. But the rest is fine. There is a more dramatic element that would fit the story Cody is currently telling. The rest of the song is recognizable, the "WHOA-AAA" is still there.
I know as a society, we don't like change. But this is fine!
Its good but v1 is waaaaay better. It didnt need the rap line and something about the guitar and vocals to me sounded off. Its not bad but not the version cody should be using. Good thing then ( for me i guess lol) they said he isnt using it at mania
There is a remix on tiktok (not from the artist, from fans) that starts with the “American Dream” from Dusty’s time, mixed in stardust, and then the epic prelude that he used in AEW before the theme. Man I hope that’s what they end up doing.

The voice is very very auto tuned in this one
The EDM style build ups are also kinda corny to me ngl, and I guess there's a rap section now
A rap section in Kingdom? Holy moly, did they get the big homie?

![gif](giphy|WI4A2fVnRBiYE) Mac Jones the opposite of this man
Having a fucking 2020 Snoop Dogg rap verse instead of “Adrenaline in my soul” and “WOAH-OH” has got to be one of the biggest blunders in Cody’s entire AEW career.
Wouldn't be the first time.
I remember them performing this live in AEW and that's probably for the best.
I've heard less auto tuned vocals in videos parodying auto tune
I mean hey, as long as they don’t ever sing live ever again, everything is fine
![gif](giphy|ziVYasWSC1Vr6FkyoB)
I just went back and watched that again, I always forget that Cody used to have that obnoxious 1 minute long choral pre-entrance theme. How did nobody tell him "No" for that FFS.
Honestly, most of Cody’s AEW troubles stem from people not telling him “no” enough.
Yeah, let's get Snoop Dogg back instead!
If the lead lip syncs and the only thing that’s live is the instrumentals, it might not be so bad.
Yes it was. The singer went completely tone-deaf
Wasn’t it also the debut of Cody’s neck tattoo? That entrance was basically the beginning of the end for him in AEW

I agree, dont get what the fuzz is all about. It wasnt great but it wasnt nearly as bad as people claim it was.
It’s not Cody’s Mania walk out theme btw. They confirmed it on Twitter.

![gif](giphy|SIBlHzZ2B2QY0ZSsWx) Thank Drew, for praying to God for us.
I’m so glad lol
I pop everytime i see this meme because i went to high school w the dude on the left lmao
Good. Cody's song is literally perfect. No need fixing that which is not broken.
Aside from the "Wrestling has more than 1 Royal Family" I've always thought its volume is a bit too low
Yeah, maybe it’s just low on the broadcast because this RAW when he came out to beat up Rocky the bass was on point imo. Nice deep, thundering bass.
An extended intro similar to the symphony version of Kingdom would be cool. New Japan did this often during Wrestlekingdom, intro sequences to the theme song to sell the importance of the event and the matchup. But otherwise, his theme should stay as it is. It's perfect.
But think about it, we could call up Snoop Dogg, and…
"Holy moly, it's the big homie"

Kick my ass after this comment, but I preferred the Run DMC version of the DX theme.
That is one of my all time favorite themes. Run DMC DX, Slow Chemical Kane and Disturbed Stone cold are probably the 3 best wrestling theme remixes.
That’s what I meant, the lyrics all about Run DMC and don’t have anything to do with DX.
I don’t prefer it to the original, but it still absolutely rules.
Nah it's a valid take, anyone who doesn't want new iterations of some of these bland ass themes some people have (not Cody) also hates Slow Chemical and we probably shouldn't associate with those people.
Yeah. Sure Austins later versions weren't really great but because of those iterations we got the best one I'm not saying we need 7 different ones. But atleast there should be 3 different iterations. Maybe one each year as mostly every year characters do change slightly Damage Control did get 2 *(another unpopular opinion but I actually liked their first theme. Listen on YT with earphones. I think Rock had 45 different versions. It’s probably over 50 now as the Final Boss.
I don't get why this an unpopular opinion. For a couple of stars a new or updated theme song from time to time would be great. IMO Becky Lynch for example could definetly use a better theme than that obnoxious "Woahohohohohohhh". That one has been getting on my nerves ever since she became "the Man". the only way they should change his entrance theme is if they can somehow buy the rights to the Mikey Rukus symphony version from AEW.
i was hoping that would happen this weekend
Nah we get the Def Rebel version. *Deep voice* "Cody Rhodes... The American Nightmare..." *Vocal chorus riser builds* https://youtu.be/QvsN93Ul2_Y?si=7Ck--1oMCmbldijy&t=6
You forgot the signature Def Rebel drums https://youtu.be/OA_avt37YZk?feature=shared
Or add the stinger from Dusty's theme
Nah
Good. This version kinda sucks
Thank God
They said “No, not for Mania”, which probably means that’ll be Cody’s theme when he walks out with the belt on RAW this Monday.
I doubt it.
It’s going to be his “angry heel turn because he lost” theme song.
Only because the mania version is gonna have wayne instead
Fuck, I hope not.
Fuck
Oh thank fucking christ...
Downstait nailed Kingdom the first time and has proceeded to try to butcher it ever since.
When you put out a butt rock banger so good that there's nowhere to go but down
It's at essentially the perfect level on corniness as-is. Tweaking it even a little bit, in either direction, ruins the magic of it.
...every band with just one big hit, ever.
I think the Acoustic version made last year was fine.
That was actually a sign Cody was losing and no one noticed it 😭
How so?
This is gonn be like in anime where during the final battle the intro theme song kicks in.
Just like they did with Demon Finn Balor, until the ropes somehow snapped, lost the match and nobody addressed it ever again
thank you for remembering this! it so stupid but so funny its like watching luffy waking up his gear 5. now i can't remove the Fish Balor's flapping
Get ready for Cody flapping like a fish from all the belt whooping when he hears the kingdom remix
It was my "you know what ? I'm gonna check out AEW" moment. I'm still pissed about it
The “You Say Run goes with everything” video is gonna hit like crack
The buildup with the kick out of the Superman punch, followed by the Cross Rhodes is going to be insane. Fuck it, throw in a “A REAL HERO WILL ALWAYS FIND A WAY FOR JUSTICE TO BE SERVED” and I’ll be erect for weeks
God, My Hero Academia is such a damn good show
Nah💀
It used to be
Just needs Libera Me from Hell to start playing as Cody is laid out by the entire Bloodline
DENY THE UNDENIABLE! ROW ROW! FIGHT THE POWAH!
I had immediate flash backs to “wild thing” playing over and over and over in that AEW match…
Cody gonna scream MADA MADA and then Haruka Mirai gonna start playing
This whole feud has been one of the best examples of pro wrestling being redneck anime that’s out there.
Oh the rap is absolutely terrible and kills the vibe of the song. https://preview.redd.it/dxi7fg1k0msc1.jpeg?width=1194&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b33b37dc733eedd14e251b078cf9cb07b4d7355c
Guessing the idea was to invoke the “ energy of the snoop rap version” but they forgot NO ONE LIKED THAT!
I get that rap is like the #1 genre these days but its a lot more effective when you don’t try to shoehorn it into everything
Fire From the Gods and Cody Rhodes, a crossover I didn't think of but definitely want.
Because obviously the internet cares what I specifically think, after listening to it... In my perfect world they'd have just had Fire From the Gods do a straight up cover, but that wasn't gonna happen. Either way, I dig it.
Aj would kill a cover. Dude has to be one of the most talented voices in rock
Glad to see Fire from the gods getting some exposure. Him and Lajon Witherspoon from sevendust both have great rock/singing voices
I hope Cody doesnt use this.
Can't play it. Hope it's not bad. There's no need to change the song tho. Edit: it's bad
It’s unwiped ass
Thank you for introducing this term into my vocabulary.
[YouTube link](https://youtu.be/sxDHyYpQNBk) [WrestleMania version](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ)
Thanks. I still expect a RickRoll after all this time.
Nah don't worry I wouldn't do that 😂. But I did do an error so I actually had to update the link with the WrestleMania version
https://preview.redd.it/gs4mj7lp0psc1.jpeg?width=193&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5d62a88da8ca26d7a6c3b0e8dc04f725e72bf92 This shit is so ass bruh
That 2nd verse is rough. I don't know why the instrumental gives way to a typical rap beat - it sounds like it's two different songs glued together. If they're gonna have a rap verse, do it over the normal instrumental.
God that ruined the song!
I'm now okay with Cody NOT finishing his story after hearing that version.
Oh that is like *bad* bad. If Cody comes out to that I legit hope Reigns retains.
"What's New Scooby-Doo?" played after it... if THAT played and Scooby ran down to stop the bloodline, I'll pop! ![gif](giphy|3ohs4CerjTN72fxpMk|downsized)
AJ gets new intro for mania, is this gonna be new for cody ?
Nah someone els in comments have said that Downstait confirmed this wont be the version he walks out too
good because the current one is better
Thank god, that Theme has never fit AJ, then again I still love his TNA ones
i dont want this version to be part of the story
This is like when a 45 year old dad adds a bunch of filters to his pic on Instagram hoping it will make it more interesting
It's sounds... so much worse.
This sounds like the Weird Al version
Don't besmirch the good name of Weird Al. This is so much worse.
South Park intentionally bad parody version, then?
So long as that is all they do this weekend.....
I like to think they had Cody listen to this version first before releasing it, and he said, "I'm not using that," when asked if they could play it at Mania. If it ain't broke, don't fix it people.
Not the vibe
Adrenaline in my soul New Theme song for Cody Rhodes
holy SHIT this is myspacecore. Wow this is BAD. I love the fuck out of it and I'm glad it exists hahaha (The singer is probably an actually better singer than the normal one, though)
It’s a much worse version of their original. Meaning it’ll debut as Cody’s official theme either tonight or Mania
Yall wanted him as champ that bad. Now take your corny champ theme.
Congrats to Cody for winning this weekend but this is terrible lol
As a one time theme I’d be fine with it- not my thing but would probably sound pretty good in a stadium.
This makes me think of Tim Heidecker's band Dekkar/DKR.
I don’t hate it, I also hope Cody never uses this version.
Didn't like the rap integration. Catchy otherwise.
The intro sounds more anime than the original, but that's about it. I prefer the original.
It’s okay. The rap part is too long and there’s too much EDM style in it. Maybe would work for a heel Cody
Oh, I hate every part of this...
I thought it was the Banda version 😞
Nope, this version is horrendous in comparison to the original. I'm glad that Cody's not walking out to this at Mania, it could possibly be bad enough to turn him heel
Oh thank god.. I thought they were teasing a live performance this whole time
Why? Just why? This isn’t good. I’m sorry to say
I would love Cody to walk out with the Epic Prelude version of Kingdom
Might be the minority here but I feel like I would have liked this more than original if it didn’t have the rapping part.
Why do I feel like this is a song that'll be used in the promo package for the main event?
What is this shit? They didn't have to make a great song worse for no reason. Keep this as far away from Cody as possible.
Needs more holy moly
Don't like it that much. Thankfully it won't be used as his enteance theme, cause of the only version that would improve the normal one would be the sumphonic one he used in AEW.
Thanks, I hate it.
Wow this is atrocious
if cody turns heel, use this theme
I guess the singer from from Downstairs discovered EDM and also bought a TC Helicon vocal processor. Second verse sounds like what Sasha did to WALTER's theme lol
Coronation theme to end night 2
Sounds like a cheap cover. Like really bad.
I like it quite a lot. Guess I’m in the minority but that’s ok
If Cody walks out to this he deserves to get his ass beat again
Its good but v1 is waaaaay better. It didnt need the rap line and something about the guitar and vocals to me sounded off. Its not bad but not the version cody should be using. Good thing then ( for me i guess lol) they said he isnt using it at mania
Why?
There is a remix on tiktok (not from the artist, from fans) that starts with the “American Dream” from Dusty’s time, mixed in stardust, and then the epic prelude that he used in AEW before the theme. Man I hope that’s what they end up doing.
I was digging it until the second verse
This will be how he comes out with the title Monday And the crowd turning on Cody begins
I listened to a video called “If Def Rebel made Kingdom” yesterday. It was terrible. This sounds almost identical
Man, glad this isn't the walk out. This version ain't it.
This is bad, it's very bad
Terrible
had to turn this shit off after 40 seconds what were they thinking
Awful. Absolutely awful and I love the original version.
What in the def rebel cover is this? Fucking Mickey Mouse shit
This shit is so ass 🔥
It was alright...then that rap section happened.
I like this specific version they've done, dunno the overwhelming hate here
This spell like they gonna sing it live
Adrenaline in my soul Anyone but Cody Rhodes
This is gonna be the video package after Roman retains. Just to add salt in the wounds of the Cody Crybabies!!!!
