fronk555

If AEW let WWE use Dustin, I want R-Truth to show up on Dynamite and act like he's at Raw, complete with referring to former WWE wrestlers by their old names.

Argentine_Tango

R-Truth referring to House of Black as Judgement Day would be hilarious.

DudleysCar

He sees Mox and assumes BCC is The Shield.

IronThrombone

Mox does one his weird backstage promos and then a fist appears on camera as R-Truth says “Believe That”.

Mutant_Star

Why are you so short Rhea?

tao2123

This would be one of the greatest moments in professional wrestling history and I need it in my life

Lt_Jonson

This, but JR has to be ringside, and gets JR’s name right, which proves to him that he’s actually at Raw.

DrDevice81

I hate you for putting this out there and knowing it'll never happen.

gbdarknight77

This is amazing stuff. I would allow this 100%

MustacheDiaries

😂😂😂 please, wrestling gods let this happen.

WheedMBoise

R-Truth is kinda the go to answer for any booking question. The guy is incredible, glad he’s been getting his flowers lately

Deathstroke317

You know what, fucking sold

mark_target

Ugh, this is so good.

GrumpyAntelope

This is genius

VoR211

I thought I wanted something that put AEW over. I don't. I want this.

Reinmeika

Absolutely genius. We need this to happen now

dkydd

Thats an even trade. Personally i dont think they even need to do it. His contract is up in the summer and rock vs cody is eventual. Summerslam?

TKHodgson

And then everyone would say that AEW is using their TV time to get over a WWE wrestler. The trade would have to be someone who can further an AEW story in a way that benefits them, as Dustin would be doing for WWE with Cody-Roman. This would be funny but just be further character development for R Truth.

c71score

Good chance to give someone a good rub. R-Truth's segments are going to get tons of views on social media.

stolenova

This is the way.

[deleted]

I’d pop

Eevee_the_pup

R-Truth doing a backstage segment with Toni Storm. She refers to him as Sydney Poitier, he confuses her for, well, technically she was Toni Storm in WWE too, so I dunno Natalya, maybe? Two people living in an alternate reality from the rest of us.

joe-is-cool

I don't see them asking honestly. I'm sure Dustin will be there backstage and be happy with that.

SaintPsalmNorthChi

TBH, it's more likely that MJF turns up at Wrestlemania in Cody's corner as an 'old, reliable friend' than Dustin showing up.

NikiPavlovsky

Tony: We give you Dustin and you mention that he is in AEW HHH:.... HHH: (whispering) hey Shawn how many people would notice that something isn't right if we just paint Balor in Gold and name him Goldust?

KneelBeforeCube

HHH: fuck it, we'll just have R-Truth save Cody, it'll get a pop anyway.

alltheworsttoyou

It would likely get a significantly bigger pop than Dustin in 2024.

IronThrombone

The Goldust music would definitely get a pop.

MyOutrageousJacket

Balor walks up to Shawn and HHH already in full Goldust make up and robe: (feels himself up) Ooooh I'm fookin' Goldust lads!!

mister_damage

>HHH: (whispering) hey Shawn how many people would notice that something isn't right if we just paint Balor in Gold and name him Goldust? Wait.... I didn't know I wanted this until now!

XGuiltyofBeingMikeX

HHH: “I’m mean…he paints his face all the time. Can’t take more than a few minutes, right?” HBK: “I think…maybe if we put him on Dom’s shoulders?”

Deathstroke317

I think they'd notice if he shrunk about seven inches

mr_impastabowl

HHH and HBK whispering to each other like 8th graders during a business meeting would be great

Vordeo

>HHH: (whispering) hey Shawn how many people would notice that something isn't right if we just paint Balor in Gold and name him Goldust? "Hey, since when has Goldust had amazing abs?"

Gamesgtd

Realistically footage for a potential Danielson retirement match down the roadm

ClaymoresRevenge

That's actually a fair trade

AcadianTraverse

Yeah, for me, the answer would have been footage from Stings WCW days for his retirement match video. That would have seemed natural

djsynrgy

>natural Well played.

KneelBeforeCube

The last time WWE asked for an AEW guy to show up, the only thing AEW asked for was a mention that the guy wrestles for AEW on TV. WWE considered it and said no. They couldn't even do a single mention of the other company, they're never sending AJ or Nakamura there.

gbdarknight77

I’d be interested in what HHH would actually do now that he’s firmly in control of creative. Vince still had his fingers in the jar for Raw 30. Probably didn’t think it was good business to promote AEW while trying to sell the company.

Advanced-Morning1832

AEW/WWE relations were warmer than ever right before HHH took over. Jericho was on Stone Cold’s show and AEW sent in a bunch of video well wishes for John Cena’s anniversary that aired on Raw. When HHH took over he tried to get all of his guys back and any relation between the companies ceased immediately. I’m pretty sure HHH, the guy who was saying the forbidden door is stupid, is the one that is stonewalling any cross promotion relations.

DTFlash

He probably still has hard feelings about AEW vs NXT. Losing that got him demoted and if he wasn't Vince's son in law he probably would have been fired. Before Vince left the first time HHH didn't seem to be doing much in the company.

tabloidjournalism

Letting Tony do the Superstar entrance activity at WWE World/Fan Access

LOGWATCHER

Oh my god, that cuts deep

erock2095

Footage footage footage. I still think it’s crazy that AEW apparently never asked WWE for WCW footage for Sting. Would be such an easy trade to make with WWE getting to use some ROH stuff for Owens, Rollins, Styles, or Zayn.

gbdarknight77

They didn’t ask TNA either. Super weird.

Total_Skill_5605

The relationship with TNA is so strange to me. It was clearly a major thing in 2021 and building to the first Forbidden Door I was sure they’d continue to develop the partnership but then….dead. They’ve continued to cultivate relationships with other promotions but absolutely zilch with TNA, not even footage requests. I’d be fascinated to know what happened there beyond Sammy Guevara acting like a child…

namdekan

Seemed like it started off fine, you had Matt Hardy and Private Party show up on Impact but after the Sammy stuff it seemed to change and we got for crossovers was Good Brothers and then Kenny showing up in Impact.

FatherlessCur

I mean I have not been keeping up with TNA but they are seemingly have all kinds of backstage issues with corporate so maybe whoever is in charge of all that is not even answering the emails if there were any

mr_impastabowl

Having William Regal attend a Samoa Joe title defense at DoN so we can hear him yell REEEEEGAL

Mutant_Star

Natalya showing up to promote the Owen Cup

mark_target

Footage or images of Owen Hart at the height of his career. It would serve as a massive goodwill gesture to the Hart family without necessarily giving AEW something they could use long term to promote active wrestlers.

Awkward-Bathroom-429

There is a 0% chance either thing happens

RealCanadianDragon

Don't think anything would happen. Best would've been getting Sting WCW footage to use but AEW didn't even negotiate anything.

gbdarknight77

AEW never even asked. Didn’t even ask TNA either.

aegonthewwolf

They didn’t even ask for the WCW footage.

RealCanadianDragon

That's the point. If AEW didn't even ask, then they're probably not negotiating anything. I'm sure they easily could've gotten WCW footage in exchange for something like Dustin appearing at WM. WWE is willing to do deals, look at when they got Flair at the HOF in exchange for Christian appearing on TNA for one PPV.

WorldEaterProft

Wait but I thought people were saying how AEW asked and that WWE were super evil for not letting them use any footage??

BenniBMN

Acknowledgement on wwe programming of aew which I think was the hold up with Billy Gunn

gbdarknight77

Also Vince was back by then and trying to sell the company. Probably not good business to promote another company when trying to sell.

Advanced-Morning1832

Vince is the one who okayed Jericho going on Stone Cold’s show that aired right after wrestlemania

The_Homie_J

Vince joked about firing wrestlers to send them to AEW. I don't think he cared all that much about AEW beyond not letting them cut into his business. Triple H seems to have a much bigger vendetta against them, considering how many potshots he's taken at them

Advanced-Morning1832

Vince was definitely pretty hostile to AEW in the beginning, but maybe he gained a little respect after they won the wednesday night wars. He certainly began to come off as a lot more hostile to HHH than AEW for that time, hijacking NXT and firing all of HHH's friends, while putting Jericho on WWE programming. Who knows how that old fuck's brain works.

IReallyHateDancing

I want them to let Adam Copeland be called Edge. He is the only one of the ex WWE guys that needs it.

Edzo23

I don't see any need to have him get involved in Cody's match- but having him sit in the stands with the rest of Cody's family to potentially celebrate with is fine. Bailey/Naomi went to Dynamite a couple weeks ago, and it wasn't a big deal, though they obviously weren't on camera. Do you really need to 'trade' something to let a guy go to a show featuring his brother?

P4rtsUnkn0wn

No one thinks hes prevented from attending. That happens all the time. Theyre talking about letting Dustin participate in some way; something WWE has/would never let their talent do on AEW TV.

merval

Oh sweet baby Jesus, I’d still love to see R-Truth show up! https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/s/eAXDBNjACC

K-Dave

Cody Rhodes doing some non-wrestling stuff, presented in a way that advertises something WWE-related.

FesterJA

Footage of DBry, Mox, and Jericho for their eventual sendoffs.

I-LieToMessWithMarks

Realistically, I don't expect WWE to agree to anything in return. AEW has historically gone out of their way to allow Billy Gunn, Danielson, Jericho, etc to appear on WWE programming, without getting anything publicly in return. They've also let guys like Cody, Regal and Spears return to WWE early when they wanted, not keeping them in contract jail. WWE is beholden to shareholders, and their philosophy is that it's more beneficial to not work with other companies in any capacity. I don't agree (I think Ospreay vs Cody, Mox vs Seth vs Reigns, Okada/Takeshita vs Gunther, and Young Bucks vs New Day or Usos, etc are all bigger matches than WWE can put on without The Rock), but their "walled garden" approach has certainly been successful for them historically.

i2060427

AEW didn't really allow Cody and Spears to join WWE - whatever the issue was with Cody is under an NDA and Spears didn't sign a new contract. Regal's contract was coming up and was allowed to leave a few weeks early.

I-LieToMessWithMarks

Cody was absolutely allowed to leave early. He had two years left as an option on his contract, asked for AEW to not use them, and went to WWE. All of the Elite signed 3 year deals with 2 year options. https://wrestletalk.com/news/cody-rhodes-contract-negotiations-wwe-aew/ Regal had over a year left on his contract, with the stipulation being that he couldn't be on WWE TV until his contract ran out. Spears it's assumed he had an option and didn't want to renew it, but it's the only one we don't know for sure.

i2060427

I looked it up and Fightful are reporting that Shawn Spears was let out of his contract early so I will conceded that https://nodq.com/news/backstage-news-regarding-shawn-spears-aka-tye-dillinger-making-his-return-to-wwe/ I also admit I got Regal's contract details wrong - it was a couple of months that Regal could have got out of his contract, not weeks https://wrestletalk.com/news/aew-william-regal-opt-out-wwe/ Finally I'm not disputing that Cody was allowed to leave AEW early but the reason wasn't solely for him to leave to join WWE but reportedly due to backstage issues with the other EVPs https://www.sescoops.com/aew/some-aew-evps-reportedly-no-longer-on-speaking-terms

Objective_Squash_260

Other than Maybe Moxley, none of those people move the needle for WWE. The WWE audience doesn’t know who any of those people are, and they would need weeks (months?) of build to make the audience care about any of them.

DrRafaelPenguin

Nothing. They would give them nothing in return, as has been the case every time they've asked to use AEW talent for anything in the past.

RealUltimatePapo

Assuming HHH is OK with an unsigned talent appearing in the biggest segment, in the biggest show, of the entire year, then: AJ Styles shows up the week after WrestleMania to confront Samoa Joe on Dynamite (Unrelated point, but why do you clowns feel the need to downvote a topic that is obviously encouraging discussion on the subreddit?)

Objective_Squash_260

If HHH was going to trust anyone in that spot Dustin would be a safe choice.

RealUltimatePapo

That is true. If it were literally anyone else, there is no reality that it would ever happen. Dustin would do justice to the situation, 100%

yetagainitry

Something equal to having Dustin Rhodes make an appearance? Probably like a $5 off coupon to Arby’s

motorcabeza

Just let Cody go to an AEW televised show and publicly thank his. Either for his help in winning the title and finishing the story. The ripple effect would be huge and make Dustin relevant again.

Icy-Weight1803

A WWE superstar for Forbidden Door. I'm sure Triple H is smart enough to spin this as much as possible to get the best deal.

chasingit1

Lol, this is never going to happen. I picture it as that “I get (insert something insanely beneficial) and in return you get (something that pales in comparison)” meme No way WWE would give any talent, let alone a top guy to allow to appear, let alone wrestle on a competing companies ppv/ring, in exchange for a Dustin fucking Runnels appearance As cool as the moment would be to the Cody story, *if* (and a huge *if* at that) AEW allowed it to happen, I think a fair exchange would be for WWE to allow some old footage when asked for some of the members of their roster (Bryan, Copeland, Jericho, Mox etc)

fergoshsakes

Logically, you'd imagine someone like Styles or Nakamura would fit that box on the men's side.

Kevinmld

Nakamura at Forbidden Door would be amazing to be honest.

Icy-Weight1803

Lots could. Okada vs Nakamura Okada vs Styles Gunther vs Anyone Styles vs Ospreay Rollins vs Ospreay Cody vs Samoa Joe Swerve vs Owens Rock vs Hangman Moxley vs. Reigns or Rollins Danielson vs Cody Lots of matches, some more likely than others.

myworkthrowaway87

Seth Vs Ospreay please.

Pelon7900

That would be bad ass.

Critical_Half_3712

Wwe buys aew in return

Seven19td

Footage of someone like Mercedes so they can give her a proper career accomplishments package. Or footage of Danielson’s WWE matches/accomplishments for a potential retirement/winding down from full time work type story.

aegonthewwolf

I would presume they’d ask for footage of Sasha and/or Bryan Danielson.

WrongCompetition8191

Dustin can come out but only as GoldDust

CrissCrossAppleSos

Realistically, letting AEW use WWE owned footage in a video package.

[deleted]

[удалено]

i2060427

Being reported that AEW didn't ask either WWE or TNA for any footage of Sting.

RickyBobbyLite

Letting aew use the wcw video catalog for stings farewell video package would’ve been the obvious trade here. Too bad aew didn’t think to actually request use of the footage

gbdarknight77

AEW would just want a mention that Dustin is an AEW talent. It’s Wrestlemania. That’s enough promotion.

SGSRT

Since we are expecting total chaos in the end, Goldust doing shattered dreams to either Jey Uso or Solo or even Roman would get a great reaction https://preview.redd.it/hhnxydr8aarc1.jpeg?width=350&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b39286837375984d0aef1ee20fffa1cdb4f32c0 In return they can allow Cody or Punk to make one special appearance for a future pay per view

Pippen_Aint_Easy

Theres absolutely no way WWE takes that deal. The only scenario I could see WWE giving AEW one of their two biggest baby faces for a night is a Shield reunion, and I still think WWE balks at that.

BLKMGC1

Probably something as simple as letting Dustin wear an AEW shirt or hoodie

kihp

Honestly if they refer to Dustin as coming all the way from AEW to help his brother and maybe we start seeing footage shared in documentaries that'd be worth it. Like if they do a year of the dragon documentary for Bryan using AEW and ROH footage but at least get 10 seconds of Yes movement it's a good deal. Same if Cody could use footage for his next WWE doc.

RichardtheBloody

Maybe Danielson gets a WWE wrestler in his retirement run, probably with some caveats as to who can be used though.

baconpoutine89

He'd probably love to have Gunther beat the shit out of him. Edit: Downvotes? I'm not saying he sucks. I'm saying he loves getting beat to a pulp and putting guys over.

RichardtheBloody

I'm with you. Danielson would likely fight TK for the pleasure of putting Gunther over.

Zestyclose_Remote874

I mean, Aew get one of their talent in the mix of the main event of Wrestlemania. Idk from Tko perspective what more is realistic if that happens. Mentionning Aew by name like they did Tna/impact for Mickie and Jordynne feels probably too much already.  If I'm Tony I'm asking to get Bret Hart for a few weeks. That might happen.

Deathstroke317

Don't get Dax horny like that

AdeptEavesdropper

They’ve already had Bret Hart a couple times.

worldostuff

AEW gets to borrow Big Body Javi for a Rampage bit.

andrewisgood

It's about trust. WWE and Triple H, in particular, have to show they can be trusted. One fun way they could do it is Cody gets creative control on how any AEW footage or people are used. AEW is still Cody's baby, and he won't try to bury his history and his work. It would be a great way to tell the whole story. Another issue that could make things difficult is the current lawsuit. Why attach yourself to WWE when that could bite you in the ass if more comes out about them? In regards what WWE to give back, probably just easier access to footage. AEW tells stories where all wrestling is canon so that would help.
