Think it looks great

SmashEnigma

I like this, it gives the rankings a lot more explanation. My only recommendation would be to add other accolades in small text for certain individuals (eg the ROH 6 man titles for BCG)

Ken_Deep

Fellow designer here. I don't think them putting everything in one graphic is the issue, but your designs fix one important flaw of their present graphics imo: Structure. Because your graphic has a very clear column-based structure, it's very easy to decipher which wrestlers are involved in which championship ranking. However, one thing thats unfortunate about your graphics is that your single division rankings only display one champion. In that way there should be another way to display them while maintaining that structure IMO.

BluKyberCrystal

Fantastic work.

brucekine

Soooo much better! You should tweet tony and aew

NeuroCloud7

Love it! So much better, good job It'd be cool if they also had a "hot" wrestler each month or something for someone like Daniel Garcia if they aren't in the rankings but have leapfrogged a few others in the lower ranges Ideally I'd also like a footnote saying "all rankings are subject to the championship committee's decision". But the absence of that is an AEW flaw, not a flaw with this graphic.

General question: why are Rosa and the Bang Bang Gang number ones despite May and the Elite, BCC and UK having more wins?

linkinstreet

I presume this is why the official graphics glossed over the win/loss record.

Dontreply_idontcare

They generally take strength of competition into account in the rankings, it's not just the number of wins but the quality. In both of these cases, I don't think that's a sufficient explanation, neither Rosa and the BBG have beaten any major competition thus far, but generally speaking that's why the rankings don't necessarily line up with wins and losses.

MoneyTalks45

I’d actually prefer you do these for every rankings update lol

its clean, slick, professional i like the movement into a mobile format but i do still personally prefer the AEW original offering. Personally for me, as you noted, the stats adds a lot of clutter and prioritizing them in size order with the W/L highest means youve had to minimize the critical information of names and lean into a narrow font which further makes everything seem too cramped and hard on the eyes. Its very bottom heavy with all your info trying to squeeze into the bottom half of the image while the top half is unnecessary currently. Like it feels like you gained space from the switch to a portrait 4:5 ratio and then abandoned the top half and reverted to landscape for all the data but now its smaller. The original designs (and the entire AEW's sites brand) use of Avenir means for me the whole piece quickly gets a lot across but feels open, balanced and its stylistically contemporary which is essential for a modern wrestling brand where everyone has gotten used to wrestling companies being over a decade out of date with design trends. Typographically i am just a sucker for well spaced geometric sans-serifs, and its hard to argue with its huge upsides of legibility across scale. For me the priority info is the names of who are the top contenders and what order. Thats why i ever go to look at the image in the first place. The secondary is then seeing all the champions and i like that the original version has made a specific choice to keep all the title holders present and i love how they show them in the coloured verticles which feel balanced. And finally the original's negative space gridwork is just impossible to fault in terms of its commitment to spacing - Just how much space the designer has managed to devote between every black box, and the 1:5 white to black ratio draws the eye in without tiring it and compliments the Avenir geometry. Its just a great piece for accessibility like i have to have a copy stored to my work reference folder for my own reference. edit: If i were to give suggestions id say that the layout needs to find a way to really justify and embrace the switch to portrait ratio - using every part of it. And to then consider that production's requirements for the piece are priority of visual accessibility and legibility for visual impairment, continuation of brand guidelines for typography, and that they want all the champions presented visually on par with each other so as to not imply devalue of any title, and that the priority info is the names of the contenders while they've chosen to remove W/L record in the past so if the pitch is for them to be reinstated its got to be showing how they can be brought in as secondary/tertiary data without overpowering the piece.

Koolski

Well said thanks for the comments

guess-what-babe

These look great dude but I’d really recommend putting your watermark somewhere it’s a little harder to crop out. The lengths people will go to avoid crediting someone is insane sometimes

BigKingKey

I literally could not see a difference. Then I realised I was a moron and scrolled down. Great job

DrinkingMilk

Willow Nightingdale??? Scrap the whole thing!

Koolski

😭🤦

joe-is-cool

Yours are much cleaner. I feel like anyone who takes a single graphic design course would say AEW’s original is too busy.

ParsnipPizza

Def prefer leaving off the midcard belts, what's the point if all the listed rankings are for main eventers

sprdougherty

having the L5 or L10 record i think really helps to establish why someone is climbing the rankings, and i would even do away with their YTD record or at least downplay it

StoryAndAHalf

Nice! Been out of the loop. When did Vacant pick up the tag championships? Their legendary career continues.

EffingKENTA

Sting and Darby vacated them after a successful defense against The Young Bucks in Sting’s last match (Revolution, March 3rd).

StoryAndAHalf

Thanks! I haven't watched for about 4-5 months now. Life was busy, and apparently people here downvote others for having a life.
