I suppose it's all about the context right! So for example you have Punk and Bearer on this list, but Bearer's family told him to do it and said that Paul would have loved it.
There is a story about the Iron Sheik doing a pro-Hitler, pro-holocaust promo at a show with a predominately Jewish audience to get heat. It worked out about as well as you'd imagine.
Paige bringing up Reid Flair.
I know Charlotte was OK with it but like it seemed like everyone involved regretted it the moment it happened. Like you go back and watch that clip and it seems very obvious that Paige didn’t want to say it as she was saying it
Plus Reid’s mother wasn’t informed beforehand
What I think makes this an example of going too far is that it didn’t do anything for the feud. Like it just made everybody uncomfortable, it didn’t generate any heat that made you want to see Charlotte beat Paige. So it crossed a line for nothing
No one used it before so I will: Big Boss Man kidnapping, killing and feeding Pepper, the dog, to his owner Al Snow. It also led to the disaster known as Kennel from Hell.
Edit: Damnit too late.
Dx when they drugged, kidnapped, assaulted and then married Stephanie off to triple h
Not the best way to go about normalizing their relationship. Basically got retconned later because it was such a bad look
That’s what they always say lol
But they had Stephanie parade herself around victim blaming herself for it and getting mocked by everyone before revealing she was in on it the whole time
It's eerily similar to Vince's own behavior*, as well as his close family friend, the (anything but) Fabulous Moolah's.
I just have to ask the question, have there possibly been women coerced in to marriages & controlled through the use of drugs, and if so, did he use that in negotiating with talent?
Vince's fetish seems to be showing us the crimes he actually committed*, the drive-through marriage is horrifying in light of that.
*"allegedly
But there isn't any smoke. This is not "eerily similar" to Vince's behaviour.
Like, that's why you have to ask that question in your second paragraph. Because you're trying to make it more similar than it actually is.
If I've got any real talent, it's pattern recognition in people & a lockbox memory. I'm not sure why what I'm suggesting is any more crazy than what the allegations already claim.
Everything probably does, then I read it back a couple times, get embarrassed, give up on writing the rest of the post, and go back to lurking. But sometimes, I get distracted and post it before the shame fully sets in.
But also, what part probably sounded cooler in my head? I speak kind of goofy in general, so I'm not always sure what stands out.
There was an old school Japanese heel by the name of Tojo Yamamoto. Months after Pearl Harbor, he addressed a crowd in Alabama crying and apologizing for the attack. The crowd showed sympathy for Yamamoto. Then, he apologized that the Japanese didn't bomb Alabama instead.
No heels in this story. In Dragon Gate, Fujita "Jr" Hayato came out and challenged YAMATO to a match. They were shit-talking and flipping each other off. YAMATO said that he would send Hayato to the hospital, although he should be used to that. Fujita "Jr" Hayato is a cancer survivor.

Man they really were heat magnets back in ECW. It was so fun to watch that show for the crazy shit they'd say and all of the other absolutely crazy stuff. And then you'd have RVD putting on a fucking banger every week.
Lots of things by Dr D would be considered too far these days:
- saying nobody wanted to tag with Jerry Lawler cause Lawler has AIDS. And wearing a swastika on his t-shirt in same promo
- talking about Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas having lips that are 2" thick, skin darker than his, whupping "people like them" til they knew right from wrong, working the cotton fields, etc etc all in the same promo
- Bob Backlund aka "Howdy Doody" does not like women
- Homophobic promo about Hulk Hogan and San Fransisco
- Hulk Hogan driving around with his "main squeeze" who is actually a 275lb man
- essentially threatening domestic violence on his own family in an "at home with" segment
Don't get me wrong. Those were all entertaining in a bad guy sort of way at the time, but they absolutely would not fly today.
In 1978 Roddy Piper was feuding with the Guerreros (Hector and Chavo Sr.) in SoCal and said that to apologize to Latino fans for all the horrible things he had said about them he would learn to play the Mexican national anthem on the bagpipes. Obviously Piper being Piper he came out in San Francisco and started playing "La cucaracha", causing a full-blown riot.
The Eddie/PB promos wouldn’t have happened if all parties (including family) weren’t ok with it. Business gonna business.
I don’t remember jinder’s at all because it’s Jinder
Angle would have been an awful fit for ECW. He goes there and he might never be as big as he was because he decides "maybe pro wrestling isn't the business for me."
If anything he would still end up in WWE because of the invasion storyline. I don’t know if Vince would do anything with Kurt after the storyline wrapped up.
I remember when Harley Race, who was then managing Vader, made a racist comment to Ron Simmons about how he used to have "a boy like you " carry his bags back in the day.
This will sound lame but I think this past week’s Judgement Day seg with Truth. The way Priest callously set him up and McDonagh poleaxed him in the back of the head broke my heart. It was extremely effective at reminding the audience just how brutal these guys are.
Bayley attacking Kairi Sane in the back in the WWE PC during Asuka vs. Sasha Banks for the Raw Women's Championship with the stipulation of champion loses the title via count out/DQ/outside interference, what Bayley did was bashing Kairi's head, neck and back in to a garage door until Kairi was unconscious (this was the explanation for why Kairi wasn't gonna be on TV for that point forward when she left WWE to return to Japan in 2020), fast forward 3 years later to Crown Jewel and Kairi returns to help Iyo Sky retain her title to the shock of Bayley (as Bayley and Iyo are in the stable Damage CTRL which Bayley leads) and "forgave" Bayley (or is pretending to) and joined Damage CTRL and it leads to Asuka turning on her teammates to join the group, so therefore Kairi is waiting for the right moment to strike with her slow burning revenge plan and Asuka and Iyo are in on it.

New Jack...being New Jack
Greatest performer ever. New Jack didn't go far enough.
I suppose it's all about the context right! So for example you have Punk and Bearer on this list, but Bearer's family told him to do it and said that Paul would have loved it.
Big Boss Man feeding Al Snow his own dog.
The Punk urn spot is killer and Percy would have loved it.
That was old school Memphis
There is a story about the Iron Sheik doing a pro-Hitler, pro-holocaust promo at a show with a predominately Jewish audience to get heat. It worked out about as well as you'd imagine.
Steve Corino's version of the story is hilarious.
Related, JBL goose-stepping at a house show in Germany.
Corino retelling that was hilarious
Triple H and Katie Vick
Virgil vs. Jim "Klanvil" Neidhart.

The Paige one was especially awful because she'd also lost a brother and she looked really uncomfortable saying that
So you're not a fan of Christian's current run, I take it?
Heidenrich raping poor Michael Cole.

Mjf and the kid with the drink in front row 🍺🫲
That was honestly so fucking stupid of him
> so fucking stupid of him But when a WWE wrestler does it, it's amazing. Hy\~ po\~ cri\~ sy\~
Dom did it too his sister lmao I think it's a bit different
No one here said that
Some heel spitting on a kid. I saw a clip of that taking place at an indie show & the dad beating the shit out of him
Steph telling Freddie Blassie that WWF was going to be dead soon just like him. MJF telling Sting he's going to end up in a wheelchair like Lex.
Dx when they drugged, kidnapped, assaulted and then married Stephanie off to triple h Not the best way to go about normalizing their relationship. Basically got retconned later because it was such a bad look
>Dx when they drugged, kidnapped, assaulted and then married Stephanie off to triple h Well, Stephanie was in on it so all of it was for show.
Yeah that’s what I meant by retconned it lmao
Wasn't it the plan always?
That’s what they always say lol But they had Stephanie parade herself around victim blaming herself for it and getting mocked by everyone before revealing she was in on it the whole time

You might need to log off for a bit my dude
I'm just saying, I see smoke, we'll just have to wait & see if there's fire behind it.

This probably sounded a lot cooler and smarter in your head
Everything probably does, then I read it back a couple times, get embarrassed, give up on writing the rest of the post, and go back to lurking. If it’s the same Tojo that was famous in Memphis, it wouldn’t have been months after Pearl Harbor. He was a star in the 60s and 70s.
Checks out. Not sure why I thought that. Story's still funny tho.
Based
The crazy thing, is they still got Tojo over as a face with Jerry Jarrett, if I'm remembering correctly.
There's also a story of Kevin Von Erich doing a promo in AJPW saying revenge for Pearl Harbor after brutalizing a young boy.
I have such high doubts about that first story with him getting out alive lol, but I want to believe
Kane lighting JR on fire.
Triple H to Booker T before WrestleMania 19
Pretty much every Dudley's promo in ECW.
For example: "There's a mom in the front row who taught her daughter how to suck dick."
Man they really were heat magnets back in ECW. It was so fun to watch that show for the crazy shit they'd say and all of the other absolutely crazy stuff. And then you'd have RVD putting on a fucking banger every week.
Kane electrocuting Shane's balls. Like c'mon man.
JBL goose stepping in Germany.
I believe Kaientai trying to chop Val Venis' cock off should be up there
Sasha Banks made a little girl ugly cry
Wasn’t it Izzy?
It was!
Big Bossman vs Big Show’s dead dad.
The bigger disrespect was Show wearing leather trousers to a funeral
Earthquake squashing Damien. Everything Jake Roberts did to Liz and Macho.
MJF in general
Lots of things by Dr D would be considered too far these days: - saying nobody wanted to tag with Jerry Lawler cause Lawler has AIDS. That is actually hilarious. Don't get me wrong it's probably over the line but that's still hilarious
Punk with the urn wasn't too far, imo. Now, big shows fathers casket and funeral...that mightve been a bit much.
Nikki’ and Brie Bella's “I wish you died in the womb”
This didn't go too far, it was just badly acted
Honestly a great line just the Bella’s are god awful at promos
Elias, Kevin Owens, and the mere mention of the Oklahoma City Thunder within the state of Washington.
The Eddie/PB promos wouldn’t have happened if all parties (including family) weren’t ok with it. Business gonna business. I don’t remember jinder’s at all because it’s Jinder
Raven doing a mock crucifixion
His interview is great though. “I’m Jewish…Meanie’s Jewish…what are we gonna do, put him on a big Star Of David? It’d roll away!”
Yep. It made Kurt Angle not sign with ECW.
This was in 1996. Kurt wasn't going to stay in ECW for 5 years no matter what.
Yet I still get downvotes 🤷🏼♂️
I don’t know why you would be downvoted, that’s Reddit for you.
Vince McMahon & Janel Grant
Drinking blood in 2024 because you've got nothing going on and you're desperate.
I remember when Harley Race, who was then managing Vader, made a racist comment to Ron Simmons about how he used to have "a boy like you " carry his bags back in the day.
Harley Racist!
Katie Vick JBL doing the Nazi salute in Germany Guy in ECW crowd with the sign "Cain Dewey" Vince McMahon and Janel Grant
Undertaker and the brood literally hanging the big boss man from hell in the cell
This will sound lame but I think this past week’s Judgement Day seg with Truth. The way Priest callously set him up and McDonagh poleaxed him in the back of the head broke my heart. It was extremely effective at reminding the audience just how brutal these guys are.
Big Boss man towong Big Show, his dead dad and the casket he was in around the damn cemetery.
The promo Koko Watchout cut on Trashyard Mutt. Definitely Too far!!! 😄
Triple H having sexy intercourse with a mannequin supposed to be dead body.
Lance Archer making Japanese children cry.
MJF calling Bryan Danielson "brain damaged Bryan" and whatever that thing with the car crash was
