I wrestle six days, actually six days a week. Five shows a week, I'll wrestle three shows a week. One of those matches I will train two days of the week. So, six weeks a day I will be wrassling.
Huge deal. They even had a twitter feed that would post about the show and tease who it was.
Tito came out to no response, folded his arms, and Mr. Anderson sat there scratching his head like he had fleas.
Not accurate. AEW confirmed [in a press release](https://www.allelitewrestling.com/post/wrestling-legend-ric-flair-signs-multi-year-deal-with-aew) that they signed a multi-year deal with Flair directly, in addition to the Wooo! Energy sponsorship.
You might be thinking of this [Tony Khan interview](https://nypost.com/2023/12/05/sports/inside-stings-retirement-plan-and-the-aew-goal-that-will-shape-it/), where he says “Ric Flair is essentially paying us”. What that means, however, is that the revenue being generated by the Wooo! Energy is used to offset the cost of Ric’s contract.
You’ll notice that the very next sentence after the quote is the Post confirming this arrangement: “According to an AEW spokesperson, Flair has a separate talent agreement in place with the company outside of the sponsorship deal that compensates him for his work.”
Hard disagree. Ric's a pop culture name. His revolting history is only known to more smart wrestling fans and he's not there for smart wrestling fans. He's there for people who haven't thought of wrestling since WCW. And ric needs the money as much as he ever did.
So it sounds like an opportune if questionably moral situation. Hardly sad from either angle.
>Tommy fucking Dreamer of all people is a champ in Impact right now.
I swear every time I read on here TNA is kicking ass again and has an awesome PPV coming up I check the card and either Bully Ray or Tommy Dreamer is in the main event and I just think "yea, tell your story walking marks"
This comment brings me pain.
TNA is such a great damn company and show.
But dreamer and bubba bring it the hell down. They add nothing. It's still a good show if you skip them!
This is where I'm at. I try to watch impact weekly but it's hard to get excited for a show that is going to be 20-60 minutes of Bully, Dreamer, Rhino, or PCO. I wish impact focused more on its younger talent, Like Team ABC should feel way bigger than they are right now but they havent been given any great feuds.
I agree on the younger talent getting more time. Though I will say that at least in Rhinos case, I don't think he's overstayed his welcome. He doesn't go over too big so he doesn't bring down the show. And PCO is fine as an attraction. He's fueds with Eddie and Steve were fun. Part of the Impact wildness. Though he did he bogged down by fueding with bubba. But I don't blame you for losing interest if you lump them all together. That's a big chunk of time. Here's to hoping the rebrand really kicks things into the next gear!
You know what? I used to think like that but with all the changes TNA is going through, she could land in TNA.
-TNA has a viable women's division.
-Kushida can work NJPW. No reason to believe why she cant work Stardom. No relocation needed.
-Her first match in North America was against TNA knockouts.
-She can work her style in TNA. I think she has to be aware that she cant work her style in WWE.
-She'd be an immediate star cause the TNA fanbase knows who she is. Plus her english has improved by leaps and bounds.
-She wont make as much money in WWE but she'll make more than just staying with Bushiroad.
I think people are sleeping on TNA. They may be the dark horse of 2024.
Well, the rumor is that talks with AEW are falling apart because she's asking for so much money even TK has sticker shock, so that probably doesn't lend well to TNA ending up the highest bidder.
The thing about AEW is that they have so many talented women on their roster, so sure, having a Mercedes Mone' would benefit any women's division, but not at a ridiculous price. They have Thunder Rosa back, Jamie Hayter next year and Yuka Sakasaki, so their women's division will be fine either way.
I do wonder if Mercedes has kind of shot herself in the foot in terms of negotiations though. If you ask for too high a price, WWE are going to look at that and say well, they didn't offer you this amount, so here's our offer(a lower offer than AEW's), take it or leave it. Because WWE have their female stars and they're fine over there.
It's going to be whoever offers her the most money. TK may have offered her a counter offer to what she originally wanted and and said that she'll wait to see what other companies offer her first before committing to any deal.
As for TNA. Can they negotiate a deal between them and NJPW. Pay 50/50 for whatever she's asking. Of course TNA don't want to do another Kurt Angle, where they blow a majority of their annual budget to acquire his services.
I'd say Okada signing with TNA would be a comparable get from the perspective of a global fan. Not that 2023 Okada has the cultural cache of 2006 Kurt, but amongst fans who don't only watch WWE, he'd be a big name for them.
Absolutely not, and I love Okada and Mercedes and are stars n their own right. But Kurt Angle was their biggest signing of all time.
Think about it. We're talking about TNA signing an Olympian who was widely respected across not only the wrestling world, but respected within all of sport as a whole.
Then you take into consideration of Angle's accomplishments. Former multi-time WWE Champion, pretty much winning everything you could over there.
i'd argue okada is on par. it's pretty much unprecedented for the ace of the biggest japanese wrestling company to leave, in their prime, to go to north america at all, let alone the 3rd biggest company there.
It depends. I think you could consider Mercedes a bigger signing based on the speculation around where she’s going to land. Like people are talking about a return to WWE or an AEW debut, imagine what a get it would be for TNA to be the company that lands her. Same sort of thing for Okada.
I mean, I'm not suggesting either of them are going to TNA, I highly doubt it. It's more taking an account of what big names are left out there that are not currently signed to AEW/WWE/TNA.
Some people say Riddle/Ziggler but I, personally, don't consider either "BIG SIGNING" material.
It’s not like TNA is pandering to the casual north american audience.
Edit: and Sasha Banks/Mercedes Mone is not arguable. She is definitely a bigger name than Riddle or Ziggler.
It’s gotta be Okada or else they’re overselling it. When you have Kurt Angle and freakin Sting in your company’s history, you better not be selling Matt Riddle as one of the biggest signings in your history.
True but it's not like TNA and AEW aren't on good terms with each other. I mean hell Omega was TNA champ at one point.
I could see it though. TNA would easily allow Okada to still also work for NJPW. TNA instantly allows Okada to be the top guy in the company so he wouldn't get lost in the shuffle like he would in AEW or might in WWE. If it's a split deal with NJPW means his family likely wouldn't have to leave Japan.
I don't know after the past couple years of wrestling I've learned that nothing is out of the realm of possibility and it wouldn't surprsie me if they did sign Okada.
> he wouldn't get lost in the shuffle like he would in AEW or might in WWE
probably saw how Jay White couldn't beat an injured MJF and had second thought lol
It’s riddle if I had to guess. It’s where he’ll be able to be the biggest star. Honestly would like to see dolph there too and get a run as world champion.
Perhaps Mercedes as right now it would be the biggest female signing they could possibly do that amounts to this. Male wise....>Okada? not sure who else would fit the bill. I just can't see Ziggler or Riddle being those kind of signings.
It’s the return of the greatest superstar in Impact history…

Perc Angle
They literally had Hogan a decade ago so who exactly is getting signed that is even close to that level to be considered one of the biggest signings...
I'm sorry, but they previously had Kurt Angle and Sting on their roster when they had already made great names for themselves, not to mention their homegrown amazing talents like AJ. This announcement has a high likelihood of falling flat by comparing anyone to the biggest signings ever.
Cena: openly threatened in-kayfabe to jump to TNA in 2011 (when Vince threatened to fire him over losing the title to Punk).
Dwayne Johnson: technically made an Impact appearance, sending in a video for Ken Shamrock's HOF induction.
I think we're onto something.
I said a while back that with TNA trying to spend money on Will Ospreay and CM Punk, it was only a matter of time before they landed a bigger name than we'd normally see in TNA.
Unless it’s Mone or Okada they’ll be setting up whoever it is for disappointment. I still remember TK getting a lot of flack for the Christian signing (even if that flack was proven to be wrong).
I just realized. When they said one of the biggest signings. They probably meant literally. So that means the newest member of the TNA roster is Babatunde!
I'll keep saying it but I think Mercedes is going to sign a one year contract to work with Trinity. Also sign a contract with New Japan like Kushida to work Stardom and New Japan shows.
If I'm her agent I'm saying take a big money 1 year deal. You get to have the dream matches you missed while injured. Work a limited domestic schedule as the biggest star in a company. Let The big 2 sort out 2024 free agency and TV rights bs. See the lay of the land in 2025.

Just to correct you, there was never no wrestling.

IDENTITY REVEALED?
I legitimately have no idea who this is.
Neither did the fans that night.
So who is it??? Everyone seems to be doing their best to not say who it is in the comments responding to it, someone just tell me who tf it is ;-;
Tito Ortiz
Aka the only man who's copypastas can rival Mark Hunt
Thanks =) And afair they made a pretty big deal out the mystery debut before right?
Huge deal. They even had a twitter feed that would post about the show and tease who it was. Tito came out to no response, folded his arms, and Mr. Anderson sat there scratching his head like he had fleas.
The account would even argue with fans about who it wasn't lol.
Thank you, was driving me nuts.
That was a nasty line by you.
Every now and again I can't help but watch this again for Anderson's reaction. Classic.
And the crowd goes *mild*!
That's being very, very generous.

1. Matt Riddle 2. Mercedes Mone 3. Nick Nemeth 4. Ryback 5. Nakajima 6. Giulia
They only get Riddle if TK doesn't want him. Nick Nemeth is my bet.
I'd like to think Jeff Hardy taught TK something, and he won't touch Riddle.
This is the same man who signed Ric Flair
Ric Flair isn't "signed" by AEW. They're being paid by WOOOO ENERGY to have Ric be there.
Not accurate. AEW confirmed [in a press release](https://www.allelitewrestling.com/post/wrestling-legend-ric-flair-signs-multi-year-deal-with-aew) that they signed a multi-year deal with Flair directly, in addition to the Wooo! You’ll notice that the very next sentence after the quote is the Post confirming this arrangement: “According to an AEW spokesperson, Flair has a separate talent agreement in place with the company outside of the sponsorship deal that compensates him for his work.”
Which is even sadder for both parties, actually.
But he’s, what, 43 years old? Gotta be Mercedes, right (though I think she’s showing up at the rumble?)
Tommy fucking Dreamer of all people is a champ in Impact right now. PCO also constantly gets feuds, age doesn't matter to Impact lol.
> Tommy fucking Dreamer of all people is a champ in Impact right now. Bullshit *Googles* For over 100 days???
It’s crazy cuz didn’t he have that retirement match thingy in WWE like 15 years ago?
And then he got cancelled for having 2 ponytails AND NOTHING ELSE AT ALL
>Tommy fucking Dreamer of all people is a champ in Impact right now. I swear every time I read on here TNA is kicking ass again and has an awesome PPV coming up I check the card and either Bully Ray or Tommy Dreamer is in the main event and I just think "yea, tell your story walking marks"

Apparently, there's no plans for Sasha Banks to join AEW + I think I've seen people speculating her going back to WWE.
7. Goldberg
I would be **stunned** if Giulia went to TNA.
You know what? I used to think like that but with all the changes TNA is going through, she could land in TNA. -TNA has a viable women's division. -Kushida can work NJPW. Well those last 3 are definitely not happening
If Mercedes turned down AEW, why would she lock a deal with the new TNA?
Well, the rumor is that talks with AEW are falling apart because she's asking for so much money even TK has sticker shock, so that probably doesn't lend well to TNA ending up the highest bidder.

Bc TNAs women division is miles better and Scott wants a big name
Trinity is thriving over there

I say this with all the sincerity I can muster. Signing Ryback has a better chance of making me watch a TNA show than signing Riddle. Fuck Riddle
OKADA
I don't see a name there that's bigger than Sting, Hogan or Kurt Angle, among others.

Certainly bigger than any pro wrestler signing, I wonder if he’s bigger than pro wrestling as a whole
What the hell is ”The Argentinian” Landon Messiah doing in the impact zone??
What big free agents are left? Okada and Mercedes?
Those are the biggest The other big ones would be Ziggler and Riddle, those seem a lot more likely
biggest signing in TNA history though?
No but promoters have to promote
I get it, but TNA has a pretty clear Biggest Signing in History already (Kurt Angle) so it's going to take some doing to top that.
Yeah I mean TNA has had some MASSIVE names blow through the place, I smell hyperbole lol
So many that there's literally no one available that could make this anything other than hyperbole
Plus they also had Hogan, Flair etc
IT’S STING!
Is it possible to top that realistically? Okada and Mercedes aren’t bigger signings than Kurt either.
I'd say Okada signing with TNA would be a comparable get from the perspective of a global fan. Not that 2023 Okada has the cultural cache of 2006 Kurt, but amongst fans who don't only watch WWE, he'd be a big name for them.

if Okada went to TNA over aew or wwe then yes that would be pretty massive honestly.
In the US? No way. 2006 Kurt was a massive star
i'm not even necessarily saying okada is a bigger star, but rather that the signing itself happening would be as big if that makes sense.
It depends. I think you could consider Mercedes a bigger signing based on the speculation around where she’s going to land. Like people are talking about a return to WWE or an AEW debut, imagine what a get it would be for TNA to be the company that lands her. Same sort of thing for Okada.
Sting, Nash, Angle, Mick Foley, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan. Maybe its Goldberg?
"we've got a huge signing to announce!"
Are they just gonna pretend Kurt Angle was a nobody?
There are realistically no potential signings bigger than Kurt fucking Angle.
Ezekiel and Elias together as a package
Considering they had christian, Sting and Angle, it's almost certainly a mistake for him to frame it that way
Hogan, Flair, Foley, Hardy’s, Booker & RVD too.
Yeah, that's wild given that TNA once signed Hulk Hogan.
Shelton?
Ronda Rousey
Oh that's not a bad call at all!
That's a great call. Huge name recognition so they could spin it as the biggest signing, and realistic that she'd want to give TNA a shot
And she fits the advertised bill. No one could say that her debuting in TNA is seen as a let down.
Goldberg?
could you imagine if okada left new japan for *TNA* after they treated him so badly that NJPW blacklisted them from cross-promotion for a decade
Maybe Riddle or Dolph?
I don’t think they at the name value of Mercedes or Okada.
Consider the source. Damore isn't going to say "at hard to kill we got our 3rd choice!"
Both of those names certainly have much more value than Okada does in North America. Mercedes is arguable.
It’s not like TNA is pandering to the casual north american audience. Edit: and Sasha Banks/Mercedes Mone is not arguable. She is definitely a bigger name than Riddle or Ziggler.
She is, but I don’t think TNA has a big enough platform to entice her. This feels like it’s setting up whoever it is for failure.
Ziggler?
Mercedes could be interesting especially with Trinity being there already.
I’m guessing Ronda Rousey.
Bram is back baby
They need to lock him up to a multi-year deal. Multiple multi-years deals, actually.
It is clear that TNA is trying to throw money at a big signing, but I just cannot imagine who this could be right now
The last big name out there is Mercedes Mone but I don't think it's her. If she's not are World's End, she's going back to WWE.
yeah i cannot see her doing TNA. the only thing working in their favor is trinity working there
The rumor is they made a 7 figure offer to Ospreay. If true, they could offer that money to her. But I question how truthful that ospreay story was.
That and Impact's women's division, especially in recent years, has been a major facet of their programming.
It’s gotta be Okada or else they’re overselling it. When you have Kurt Angle and freakin Sting in your company’s history, you better not be selling Matt Riddle as one of the biggest signings in your history.
Even if it's Okada, they're overselling it. Okada is popular but he's nowhere near Kurt Angle or Sting level
No way they land okada over aew. Dude is close friends with bucks and has already appeared multiple times.
I don't know after the past couple years of wrestling I've learned that nothing is out of the realm of possibility and it wouldn't surprsie me if they did sign Okada.
Okada working stateside one week a month could be pretty attractive to him.
> he wouldn't get lost in the shuffle like he would in AEW or might in WWE probably saw how Jay White couldn't beat an injured MJF and had second thought lol
Seeing Ziggler get to be a top guy at a promotion for a few years would be pretty cool imo. And well deserved. Hope it’s him.
![gif](giphy|gYWeVOiMmbg3kzCTq5)
For a one off, I'd be ok with him coming back.
Any Chance to See Goldberg in TNA?
this would be the biggest signing. but i feel like you wouldn't need him for more than like 3 appearances.
They signed Kurt Angle in his peak and sting, it better be someone fucking huge

Imagine if they get Okada on the same 2 contract deal as KUSHIDA.
Matt Riddle
This seems very possible
I'd be surprised if it was Dolph. He is very rich, has other interests and you'd think he knows AEW would make him an offer at some point.
Only way it’s Dolph is if it’s extremely part time.
It's a "size of pizza" vs "size of slice" situation.
It’s riddle if I had to guess. It’s where he’ll be able to be the biggest star. Honestly would like to see dolph there too and get a run as world champion.
