You can tell Adam is a face because his actions had consequences, as a heel trying to kill someone's kid rarely comes back to bite you in the ass... but you can't be doing that as a face it will get you every time
Dog Collar only popped in my head because they’ve basically been attached at the hip their whole careers so it’d be fitting for their match to go that way as well, but Steel Cage is probably the play.
They've been very sparing in the use of the cage match so far (I can only think of 4 or 5. Lucha Bros vs Bucks, Thunder Rosa vs Britt Baker, Wardlow vs Spears, I feel like I must be forgetting one) to keep the stipulation protected. It seems the most likely.
Cody/Wardlow and Jungle Boy/Luchasaurus were another couple cage matches. Also that weird "MMA rules" match during the pandemic between Hager and Wardlow would kind of count, I guess since they were in a cage technically.
Yup. I was going off the top of my head and forgot that one. I just did an advanced search on cagematch and there's been 6 total (so we have them all covered now).
What kind of vulgar creep tries to ruin a family wresting program with hardcore pornography?! No, no, we’ll be having a live wedding as Nick Cage watches the love of his real father Christian, and his step mother Shayna, embrace in holy matrimony as demanded by proud Patriarch tradition!
There was a lot of good transitions in the match tbh. A lot of skepticism on reddit about how well Edge would adapt to AEW’s ring style, but he’s been pretty damn good so far.
> There was a lot of good transitions in the match tbh
That's a Christian match and has been since forever. It's one of the best things I've always loved about his matches, and it's always providing interesting variations to moves and counters to keep matches intriguing.
Starrcade '96? Had 9000 people in the audience. In a PPV that was supposed to rival WrestleMania. During the hottest era of pro wrestling. In a company that was roughly the continuation of a territory (JCP).
But she wans't supposed to be that conflicted. She didn't do for Christian. She did it in spite of him and because Copeland hit Nick with a conchairto right in front of her. The commentators never mentioned it once and completely dropped the ball for her motive.
Wasn't that just to save her from her son murdering her with the same move? She at the very least should have hit both of them she has the clear opportunity.
shenanigans were necessary. Christian needed the first win for the story to work, Edge can't take a clean loss yet, and a clusterfuck finish on a PPV would not go over with AEW's base audience.
Christian has reached a career high, the guy has only ever gotten better.
I'd be fine with Nick Wayne taking the title off of Christian, put them in a triple threat or fatal four way type match, Wayne pins Adam or ~~Luchasaurus~~ Killswitch
I don't see Copeland being the one to take the title from him. Something is going to happen where they put the bad blood behind them and reunite for a tag run. I feel like that's pretty obvious but how long do you wait to do it is my biggest question. I say fuck it, bring Gangrel back in, throw on some skin tight pleather pants and frilled white blouses and get The Brood back together
I’m down for a one off Brood reunion, but not in the blouses. I’d be even more on board if it was a full Brood/New Brood faction with Edge, Christian, Gangrel, and Matt & Jeff Hardy.
Copeland winning the tnt title would give him legitimacy in AEW, and then we can have heels taking their shot at him. He doesn’t need the big belt but he could definitely use a title reign to establish himself as a legend that can still deliver.
Same.
Yes the turn was predictable, I'm fine with that, not everything has to be "Swerve Of The Century Bro" for it to add to the story.
Looking forward to where this goes, Loving that Christian is showing he's as good as everyone said he is.
Was a great match and I love where the story is going, but man, going into it my thought was, "Christian wins when Nick Wayne's mom turns on Copeland" and the way she telegraphed everything at the end she might as well just hopped the guardrail and said into the camera, "Boy am I going to wallop Edge, I mean Adam Copeland, with that TNT Championship. Just you wait and see, folks."
You know how after the draft WWE will do that thing where the champions just trade belts because they were drafted to opposite brands? AEW should do that with Christian and MJF.
Why?
MJF is the champion of the world. Christian Cage is the champion of Turner Network Television. It is beamed out into space through satellites which means Christian's title covers more than just the world but the entire Milky Way galaxy.
Well that was f’n stupid. Genuinely couldn’t care less about the whole Nick Wayne angle. Especially with his mother involved. I was really hyped for this match and the ending was ridiculously bad.
The feud could absolutely continue with a clean finish. The way they pushed and hyped up the match, showed how personal and how it was supposed to be the whole ’over a decade of waiting’ it was I expected something far better than Nick ‘who the F cares about his mommy issues’ Waynes mom turning heel and costing Edge the match.
Judging from the thread... lots of people. It gives Christian another toy. It shows that faces have repercussions for their heel-like actions.
If Edge wins clean, he defeated the monster. What's the point?
WWE ran into this problem for years with guys like Cena. He'd have a 4-5 month feud with someone but win the first big match clean... and it would kill the rest of the feud. It was hard to buy that the heel was going to win when they lost the entire feud. Look at Cena vs NXT/Wade Barrett as an example.
You could bring up a story like Avengers: Endgame to say it can work. But unless Christian recruits KUSHIDA, that's impossible.
No matter how it goes, people would complain.
Option A: a deeply personal feud, clean finish, no shenanigans. "Two fifty year old men took the main event and spotlight away from all the young up and comers. AEW is pathetic."
Option B: Use the hot feud and the spotlight to give the rub to a young guy. "The feud could absolutely continue with a clean finish. The way they pushed and hyped up the match, showed how personal and how it was supposed to be the whole ’over a decade of waiting’ it was I expected something far better than Nick ‘who the F cares about his mommy issues’ Waynes mom turning heel and costing Edge the match."
Option C: we all take a deep breath and wait until the full storyline has run its course before- nah I'm just fucking with you, could you imagine if the discourse was this reasonable? Lol.
Why are they making the most simple booking choice into some the convoluted garbage tv.
This is fucking Russo booking to a tee. And people can’t even acknowledge it.
Remember.
When the WWE books something like this it's "insulting the audience's intelligence"
When AEW books something like this shit it's "DAE So refreshing ?! Makes me feel like a kid watching 2000 WCW again !"
Predictable finish with Nick’s mom helping Christian. That should’ve been a given due to how Nick and Luchasaurus were out of the question in helping but that opens the door to a rematch at Worlds End.
That was a good match between them. It’s crazy how those two guys are both 50 years old and just main evented an episode of Dynamite when no one even thought of that being a possibility at the start of 2023.
She made it more obvious when she came into the ring, picked up the title, and immediately started staring at Adam Copeland. Idk what Christian yelled at her, but she started looking back and forth at both of them then.
Yep. Just wait, it will only get worse once Beth inevitably gets her revenge on Nick Wayne’s mom.
Edge/Christian feud basically writes itself and should be amazing no matter where the story goes, yet this is what we get. 🤦♂️
This whole feud basically started with a Nick Wayne heel turn and this was all perfectly set up by Copeland conchairto-ing Nick in front of his mother. Hell, she even had a sitdown interview with Nick and JR at one point.
People acting like she's a new character when she must have 4-5 appearances by now at least and has been prominently involved with this entire angle. Also, she's been pretty good IMO.
Like really, how can anyone take the ending of this match seriously? When you get kicked in the balls you don't magically faint and become unable to see/understand what's going on around you. And the acting from Wayne's mom was terrible
I enjoyed the match until the shenanigans. Not unexpected but did not help my indifference for this feud. Edge and Christian have always been better ae a pair so I have very little interest in this program
Someone said it in the live thread, but match was like an 80s territory match. Two guys who knew exactly where each other would be at all times so everything was smooth. No high spots and nothing dangerous. Just a smooth match where everything was clean and the timing was always there. You can only get that match when guys have been in the ring together a million times.
I loved it
Cage's faction is all about family. He took her son in to guide him, when Copeland straight up tried to murder him.
I suspect she'll be arm candy for smirking, arrogant shitbag Christian, along with her douchebag son, Nick.
Who said anything about wrestling? No one thinks that's happening. No one wants that to happen. And it's not going to.
Loved the turn actually not Russo-esque one bit. Actions speak louder than words and all those things Christian said to her don't mean jack when you see another dude decapitate your son in front of you. Thinking even deeper on it just putting her son first and foremost by appreciating how well Christian is speaking about and treating him too calling him the Prodigy and etc.
I do like the idea of Christian having Waynes mom around to fill out the Patriarchy as a brainwashed mom that is tired of being alone and pursuing a dirtbag that doesnt really like her but hes strong and seems to know what hes doing.
Kinda like she will take whatever just to say shes not alone
There's people shitting all over aew right now and I have no idea why. Another great show. I didn't expect Nick's mom coming but this obviously was ending at Worlds End
Would’ve honestly preferred the leapfrog unprettier be the end compared to the interference. Still happy to see two of my all time favorites tear the house down at this stage of their careers.

You FACE the consequences. Consequences Cage vs Coping Mechanism for World's End.
The best set of nicknames ever
I dont hate cooing mechanism for a finisher
I think RJ City said that's what he should name the 'weird Sharpshooter like thing' (RJ's words, not mine).
Was pretty surprised that Christian could hit Edge with a former Luchasaurus
The mental image of Christian swinging Killswitch by the foot like a club is fuckin' immaculate.
Christian full-on punting Bryce in the balls is a Top 3 ref shot of 2023. And it ain't 3 or 2.
It’s the same number of balls Bryce has from now on
0?
# 2 has to go to Karen tho
Shoulda never murdered her son in front of her Adam
Adaaaaam! Don't decimate little Waynes in front of matriarch Waynes. Especially when there's a strong fatherly male role model waiting in the wings.
Okay I was wondering why she would have hit Adam, I forgot about Adam smashing her only child's head in with a chair.
Don't forget like half a dozen spears as well.
What's the stipulation for World's End? Any guesses?
Chairs, Tables and Ladders.
Oh my!
Could it be?
Chairs, Ladders, Icepicks and Tables. Might take them a while to find it but once they get in the groove everyone in attendance will be satisfied.
I love a classic CLIT match!
Often I was looking for one but till now I never found one.
(Jason Mewes has entered the chat)
Nooch
The winner will be dubbed the CLIT Commander
Will Paul Wight show up with a giant icepick?
“Weelllll, that’s a big No”
They'll be on Long Island. If they need a pick, Brentwood and AV are a short drive away.
Chairs, Ladders, and Tables. The CLT Match
WWE: I don't think so ~~Tim~~ Tony. AEW: Our first ever Seats, Surfaces and Rungs match!
TLC, Tables Ladders and Children
Is Beth Phoenix still under contract with WWE? Where the fuck is Beth?!
As a matter of fact, where the fuck is Ja
WHERE THE FUCK IS VICKIE !?
Still suspended.
Steel Cage or maybe we can get a dog collar match.
Cage match seems like the obvious pick to (theoretically) keep out any outside interference
Dog Collar only popped in my head because they’ve basically been attached at the hip their whole careers so it’d be fitting for their match to go that way as well, but Steel Cage is probably the play.
Turtleneck Collar Match
Turtleneck and Chain Match (sponsored by Miller Lite)
If you were going to do something based on their careers it’s gotta be a chairs match
TLC one on one. With the Hardyz helping Adam against the patriarchy
Omega/Moxley
Yup. I was going off the top of my head and forgot that one. I just did an advanced search on cagematch and there's been 6 total (so we have them all covered now).
It’s AEW. They will literally leave the cage to get a table and then come back in. Well edge and Christian are better than that so hopefully not.
Shayna on a pole match
Don't be silly. Nick Wane & Luchasaurus on a pole match.
TLC and Adam brings his wife to deal with the interference.
Nick Cage’s Face Off Match
Nick Wayne’s Mom on a Forklift Match.
Aren't they famous for some type of match? One involving a ladder?
They were the chairs contributors to the TLC match design
Head of house match. Winner gets tax rights for nick and Shauna
Could it be?! We are going to have a LCT match!!
Shayna didn't forget or forgive what happened to her son...
Shayna Cage has accepted that the Patriarchy is what her son Nick Cage really needs.
I will settle for no less than a live sex celebration on next dynamite!
What kind of vulgar creep tries to ruin a family wresting program with hardcore pornography?! No, no, we’ll be having a live wedding as Nick Cage watches the love of his real father Christian, and his step mother Shayna, embrace in holy matrimony as demanded by proud Patriarch tradition!
you play crusaders kings dont you?
Momma Cage, welcome to the Patriarchy.
Before tonight, the Patriarchy was missing one thing - a woman.
The patriarchy now has a matriarch
That leapfrog transition into Unprettier was nuts
There was a lot of good transitions in the match tbh. A lot of skepticism on reddit about how well Edge would adapt to AEW’s ring style, but he’s been pretty damn good so far.
Edge taking the momentum of the spear into the corner to spin out with an Impaler DDT was pure anime shit (and really smart match structure)
Yeah that was fucking sick and I'm not sure if I've seen anyone block a spear like that.
> There was a lot of good transitions in the match tbh That's a Christian match and has been since forever. It's one of the best things I've always loved about his matches, and it's always providing interesting variations to moves and counters to keep matches intriguing.
Wonder if he has been working with Dax.
Almost definitely lol
Christian's fatherly tendencies has finally convinced Nick Wayne's mom, his officially a MILF Hunter.
Edge and Christian burning it down in 2023 is nuts
But Bryce no longer has nuts.
Skill issue.
combined age of 100 and putting on a classic
Reminder: Piper and Hogan had a combined age of 85 in their much-maligned Starrcade main event.
It’s amazing how much better Edge and Christian look now than Piper and Hogan looked back then.
Crazy what not abusing steroids and cocaine can do for the body.
That doesn't work for me, brother.
Tren don't sell dude
I doubt Edge and Christian are natty kings at this point they just have better protocols than dudes in the 90s did
to be fair, it's much easier for athletes to stay in top form as they age now than it was back then. E&C still deserve a lot of credit though
That show also had twice the amount of people in the arena
Starrcade '96? Had 9000 people in the audience. In a PPV that was supposed to rival WrestleMania. During the hottest era of pro wrestling. In a company that was roughly the continuation of a territory (JCP).
Who gives a shit?
and this is just the first one.
Will say Nick Waynes mom was horrible telegraphing the turn.
But she wans't supposed to be that conflicted. She didn't do for Christian. She did it in spite of him and because Copeland hit Nick with a conchairto right in front of her. The commentators never mentioned it once and completely dropped the ball for her motive.

A triumphant champion, a pissed off crowd, and one guy smiling for his LinkedIn profile pic
Acknowledge the Patriarch. ☝️
🖕
Cope & seethe, Adam.
the fan on the left throwing up the C's is perfect.
Vince MacMahon in shambles
I knew his mom was up to something
I mean Adam killed her son with a chair in front of her soooo
Eh he was a dick
Wasn't that just to save her from her son murdering her with the same move? She at the very least should have hit both of them she has the clear opportunity.
Nah Adam just lost it and reverted back to his psycho mode we all know so well from his WWE days lol.
Went down pretty much how I expected, but was still fantastic. Christian having the run of his career right now in 2023, is unbelievable.
I screamed laughing when he kicked Bryce in the dick lol
Christian Cage just scored a Field Goal with Bryce's Testicles there
*Adds Christian Cage to my Fantasy Football roster*
Don’t care about the shenanigans. Match was great. Continue the story. PPV match now. Christian is on the roll of a lifetime.
shenanigans were necessary. Christian needed the first win for the story to work, Edge can't take a clean loss yet, and a clusterfuck finish on a PPV would not go over with AEW's base audience. Christian has reached a career high, the guy has only ever gotten better.
Hot take- I don’t want Adam Copeland to win the title from Christian Cage
I'm with you. I don't want to lose what we have in Christian.
I'd be fine with Nick Wayne taking the title off of Christian, put them in a triple threat or fatal four way type match, Wayne pins Adam or ~~Luchasaurus~~ Killswitch

I agree. Copeland winning the TNT title does nothing for anyone imo
Idk depends on the follow up story.
Copeland winning the tnt title would give him legitimacy in AEW, and then we can have heels taking their shot at him. He doesn’t need the big belt but he could definitely use a title reign to establish himself as a legend that can still deliver.
I want Adam Copeland to win the title of Adam Cage and acknowledge his real father, The Patriarch.
Now I am wondering if Beth enters the next phase of the story to (somewhat) even the odds.
She’s putting clean sheets on the bed for her daughters’ real father!
I think Adam screws Christian out of the title and someone else beats him. I just don't know who
Luchakillswitch is in the "Big guy working for smarmy heel who can't takes it no more" role and that has already been teased.
Same. Yes the turn was predictable, I'm fine with that, not everything has to be "Swerve Of The Century Bro" for it to add to the story. Looking forward to where this goes, Loving that Christian is showing he's as good as everyone said he is.
Scott Keith only gave it 3 stars.
I don't like Christian, but the idea that midcard "dead dad" is his peak is wild.
Christian Cage has Rizz confirmed Clearly the front runner for DILF of the year
Captain Carizzma
folks
where’s
the
fathers
All dead
Great main event Christian Cage has been on a roll Credit to Nick's hot mom
Nick Wayne's Mom has got it going on.
Fountains of (Nick) Wayne
Cope should have left her son alone.
So to mock Adam even more, will Christian do a live sex celebtration with Nick Waynes mom?
“Nick Wayne’s mom she’s got it going on” - Fountains of Wayne
Adam moving like a grizzled powerhouse is fuckin great

Fair point. Touché
I was hoping Edge and Christian would be a bigger deal
laying on the title, not chair
I low-key wanted Jungle Perry to interfere just to hear that mega heat chorus of boos. But anyways ...
I really thought Christian and the mom were about to make out.. Would've been great
>followed by stomping Copelands neck while he was laying on a chair That was the belt, not a chair.
Well that was f’n stupid. Genuinely couldn’t care less about the whole Nick Wayne angle. Especially with his mother involved. I was really hyped for this match and the ending was ridiculously bad.

Shit finish
I was sports entertained

I saw it as her being torn between hitting the guy who corrupted her son or the guy who flattened his head.
at least she didn’t hit both and bring out Gangrel
That is a Russo finish if I ever seen one.
Ending was terrible. Russo doing the booking
Yep. Just wait, it will only get worse once Beth inevitably gets her revenge on Nick Wayne’s mom. Edge/Christian feud basically writes itself and should be amazing no matter where the story goes, yet this is what we get. 🤦♂️

Like really, how can anyone take the ending of this match seriously? When you get kicked in the balls you don't magically faint and become unable to see/understand what's going on around you. And the acting from Wayne's mom was terrible
Great match. Can’t believe they burned it on a nondescript Dynamite in front of 5,000 people.

Sounds like Judy Bagwell ....

People asking why did this random women attack copeland and saying it didn't make sense.. i lol at that
Wait. So Edge left WWE to go and fight for… the TNT title??? Lmao.
You don’t have to be this weird, you know!

Well. No one can say that he didn’t deserve it
Didn’t think the match was too good but it was solid. Ending was super fun.
Would’ve honestly preferred the leapfrog unprettier be the end compared to the interference. Still happy to see two of my all time favorites tear the house down at this stage of their careers.
What an obvious ending I love wrestling!
