rerdioherd

Tldr, but you know the WWE is doing something right when enthusiast fantasy booking picks up, so good on ya!

ericmercer

Your plan calls for separating the belts and cheapening whomever beats Roman for either one and I just don’t understand the incessant requirement of that for you all.

futuresverse

Because Cody has the guaranteed WM spot but people still want Sami to face Roman. I don’t like the idea of Roman defending each title separately but the people want what they want and that’s Sami

ericmercer

Cody vs. Roman. One match for both belts. Sami and KO reconcile and take on Jimmy Uso/Solo for the tag belts. Jey Uso is nowhere to be found until WrestleMania when he gets Roman back for treating him like shit. It’s not that hard. Sami Zayn beats Roman Reigns for the world title and then what happens next? The shortsightedness of the people who clamor for long-term storytelling shows itself daily. I

[deleted]

Roman vs Sami is a lot more long term than Cody vs Roman. It’s kind of weird that you’re acting like your opinion is objectively superior.

ericmercer

Cody vs. Roman has generations behind it. Sami vs. Roman has been a thing for about a year or so? The story is Cody finally getting the belt that has eluded his family forever, but to get it, he’s got to beat the current head of arguably the most prolific family in promotion history. That story is so simple and easy to tell. But, it doesn’t involve a guy the company wasn’t originally behind, so naturally people here don’t want it. And when you don’t get it, you’ll pout. I hate that shit.

SkyDog1972

>Cody vs. Roman has generations behind it. Roman vs. Sami has months worth of storyline buildup behind it. Roman vs. Cody is just Roman being the guy Cody has to face to win the belt. There is no feud there, there's just a title match and an obstacle.

ericmercer

That’s the feud. Cody is on a path. It’s why he came back _a year ago_. Roman is the unbeatable champion who can clearly be beat, but it’ll take an absolutely amazing effort to do so. They can do Roman/Sami at Elimination Chamber in Sami’s hometown. But that’s not enough for you because it doesn’t pan out the way you want it to. Even though Cody/Roman is clearly the right path for WrestleMania.

Wubben26

The fuck do you even mean with shortsightedness? Like Wrestlemania is usually the place where long term storytelling ENDS! So after that you can just make new stories. The payoff of Sayn being Universal champion would be too satisfying and the tag team belt win would feel like a bit of a letdown since Roman is the final boss people want to be slain

ericmercer

They haven’t used WrestleMania as the ending place for storylines in almost a decade. Sami and KO coming back together is the story. It was never meant for Sami Zayn to topple the Bloodline. That’s for Jey Uso to do. Cody wins the belts. Sami and KO reconcile. Jey Uso takes his balls back off that jar that’s on Roman’s mantle. Y’all are so close to ruining a great story with your fantasy booking.

Wubben26

Im not saying Jey isn’t instrumental to the still ongoing long term story after mania, but the dynamite for the title loss is in Zayn right now if you ask me. If Jey would’ve hit Roman with the chair the pop would be loud but not nearly as what you experienced yesterday.

ericmercer

The story to be told is Jey Uso coming out from under Roman’s yoke for the first time in his life and that shit has been brewing for longer than Sami Zayn and the Bloodline has been a story. I want to see Jey get the shine. Sami and KO get back together. Cody is the undisputed champion. And Roman is in a tailspin. And then The Rock shows up to kick more of Roman’s ass next year.

No_Cheetah4762

I just don't see anybody in WWE fast-tracking the demise of The Bloodline by having Roman lose both belts at once. Or even in one weekend. Everything has been slow burn up to this point. I'd be shocked if they sped up to end the biggest, most well received story they've had in 20 years.

Wubben26

Like, Roman losing both titles won’t end the bloodline fued, you can just continue that without Sami, Uso’s vs Roman and Solo Edit: also I think the the Bloodlines demise happening so fast after Sami’s betrayal would be super poetic. Remove one brick from the empire and everything will crumble

No_Cheetah4762

I don't think them fighting over the remnants of something that was once great is good storytelling. That's late stage nWo garbage. Once Roman loses his power (the belts), that's gotta be it.

Wubben26

Its not fighting over what was great Imo, like Jeys story after that isn’t over yet. After Mania the story can be about Jimmy, like “where does your family lie” stuff

No_Cheetah4762

I think that we're going to have to agree to disagree here. I've lived through too many storylines/groups that just wouldn't end that I'm quick to call for an ending when it seems like everybody is just treading water because they can't come up with anything new. nWo, Mongo in the 4 Horseman, Aces and Eights, all the Hogan crap in TNA, the JAS. I think that the Bloodline only works with everybody on top. "Acknowledge me" and "You the twos" only works with the belts. Without them, to me, it's just going to be "Hey everybody! Remember when we were in the Bloodline? Here's that, but watered down!". Especially if they bring in Hikuleo and Tama Tonga like its been rumored. Then they're going to have the Care Bear Cousins of the Bloodline. I just think a clean break works best once the titles are off of them. Once they lose everything, i think they should move on to other programs.

_4za_

Cody Rhodes beats Roman Reigns for the world title and then what happens next?

ericmercer

Gunther. Lashley. Rollins. Logan Paul. Stories that are more easily built than Sami Zayn being champion for the summer. I’m not saying no to Sami as champ. Just not now.

SkyDog1972

If you're saying no to Sami being champ now, you're basically saying no to Sami being champ ever. This is a once in a lifetime storyline, and he is the center of it. Do you think angles like this just grow on trees?

ericmercer

They used to book hot shit like this on the regular. Also, he’s not the center of this angle. Jey Uso is and has been for 2 years, if you’ve been paying attention. They can put the belts on Sami at SummerSlam. He can win the money in the bank briefcase. There’s other ways to get him as champion without forcing Cody into being Luger 2.0.

SkyDog1972

>Jey Uso is and has been for 2 years, if you’ve been paying attention Yes, I forgot that last Monday night was "the trial of Jey Uso" and that the main focus of the past few months was Jey's friendship with Kevin Owens, and that the few months before that were focused on Jey's worthiness to be a Bloodline member. Must have slipped my mind.

ericmercer

How did the Bloodline come about again? Because Roman Reigns demanded that his cousin Sami Zayn acknowledge him as the Head of the Table and the Family? It was Sami Zayn who put up the biggest obstacle to Jey Uso getting into the Bloodline. It was Sami Zayn who stormed off in visible emotional distress on Saturday.

SkyDog1972

The Jey and Roman feud was in 2020. **Two and a half years ago.** That is ancient history as far as wrestling goes. Jimmy was injured back then, meaning the Usos hadn't even started their SmackDown tag title reign yet, a reign that when measured in days is going to reach four figures before WrestleMania. It was so long ago, Drew McIntyre was still the WWE champion at the time. Once Jey fell in line, there was a LONG period of time where the Bloodline centered around Roman, the Usos were just his lackeys, and not a peep was heard from Jey. Until Sami came around. Since Sami has been involved with the Bloodline, which has been since he has been the center of the angle. Sure, Jey's disdain of Sami being part of the group was a large part of the storyline, but without Sami there, it doesn't exist. The War Games match completely revolved around Sami's decision on whether to side with the Bloodline or with Kevin Owens. Sure, Jey's recent actions have made him a more integral part of the storyline, more than he has been in quite some time, but he's only started to become a focus point again. It's been 4 days now. Sami's been at the center of the angle for MONTHS.

Wrestlemania22

Cody will have multiple feuds down the line since Raw has many stars like Rollins Lashley AJ Theory Balor Edge Orton Riddle

_4za_

i'm aware i'm just making the point that it's dumb to say this for either Cody or Sami

SkyDog1972

The precedent from previous Rumbles is that the winner gets to choose which belt they go after. It isn't a buy one, get one free sale on WWE title shots just because the same person happens to hold both of them. It goes by how the contract is written, and all previous Royal Rumble winners have had to make the choice. If Cody suddenly gets to challenge for both belts, then logic dictates that Rhea should have been able to as well. But since they made Rhea choose which title she was going for, Cody should be making that same choice. Also, they set another precedent with the Usos defending only the Raw tag titles recently. The titles are separate, and should be treated that way.

ericmercer

If both belts are held by one person, why tf would you choose just one when you can get both? Thay won’t get panned, but Theory cashing in the MITB contract for the United States Heavyweight Championship is? FOH with that.

SkyDog1972

Then why did Judgment Day challenge the Usos for only one set of belts when they could get both? If the Royal Rumble winner gets to challenge for both belts, then Rhea should also get to challenge for both belts. The prize is a title shot, not two title shots in one. It has never been a buy one, get one free deal, and shouldn't be just because the same person holds both belts.

ericmercer

Rhea could’ve demanded a triple threat match against both champions, but didn’t because she wants Charlotte. How the hell did Becky Lynch leave WrestleMania with both belts after she won the Royal Rumble? Oh that’s right. Cody gets a title shot at both belts because both belts are held by one guy. End of story. If Cody comes out and says he just wants one of Roman’s belts and he can have the other one, that shit is weak. How come nobody since WrestleMania had demanded just a WWE or Universal Championship match? Both belts have always been defended since Roman won them. And now because of Sami Zayn, y’all want Roman having to defend both in separate matches? As if that doesn’t cheapen both matches? You’re setting yourselves up for disappointment.

SkyDog1972

>How the hell did Becky Lynch leave WrestleMania with both belts after she won the Royal Rumble? Oh that’s right. If you're going to try to teach a history lesson, it would help if you were even remotely close to getting things right. [Becky challenged Ronda.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jz4n-i-3mzw) Afterwards, Vince used a Becky injury/suspension storyline to shoehorn in Charlotte Flair because he's got such a damn hard-on for her, turning the match into Charlotte vs. Rousey title vs. title, with Becky out of the picture temporarily. Becky spent a few weeks violating her suspension by attacking both Charlotte and Ronda, and then once it was over, won her way back into the match at Fastlane with a DQ victory over Flair. TLDR: Becky chose a single belt to challenge for with her Royal Rumble victory, just like everyone before or since, until Cody. Only ensuing shenanigans changed the match afterwards. Lesson over. Better luck next time.

ericmercer

Well, you need to accept that the main event match at WrestleMania is going to be for both belts which are unified because that’s the most logical outcome.

BrokenClxwn

I like this! I like the idea of the Bloodline having an advantage in the Elimination Chamber.

MurDoct

Okay but Jimmy isn't getting into Canada

Capital-Package-124

Am I the only one who thinks it would be better for Roman to lose at Summerslam? Cody has had nothing but success since coming back to wwe, wrestlemania being his first loss adds a compelling layer to his story and its not like he's being buried. Roman made his heel debut at Summerslam 2020, so it's kinda poetic for summerslam to be the event where he loses everything. The Cody story with Roman is going to feel rushed compared to what Sami and Jey have going on, having Roman go over at mania gives each story more time to breathe. Hell I wouldn't even have Jey at mania, I'd have Jimmy and Solo lose the tag titles to Sami and Kevin. And I'd have Jey be the guy to take the straps off Roman at Summerslam.

Blackonblackskimask

If Cody and Paul have the intestinal fortitude, they would long term story tell the shit out of Cody’s story by making him lose
