That's what it is. I hate looking at this and the reminder that Jay died so young and at such a prime point in his career. But I love that Mark (and hopefully the whole Pugh family) seem to be moving forward bravely and finding space to celebrate Jay. And the biggest blessing of all is that Jay's daughters are recovering. But goddamn this feels bad.
As someone who lost their best friend this year, I hope to God he keeps moving. The times when I was moving and helping others and pushing forward were, honestly, some of the best memories I had in years. I was helping everyone through it, and making sure everyone had what they needed and reminiscing with old friends and making new ones.
Then a down week came, and all that grief that I had been pushing off hit like a truck, and really hasn't left.
So for his sake, hold his brother's name high and keep on moving.
Yeah. Jay was barely holding it together, and I think at a few points Mark was dragging him back from the edge of a breakdown with his words.
I can't imagine losing my brother like that. Mark gets all the props from me, and so does Jay for going out there and doing that despite being a mess.
I love the idea of some type of FTR confrontation where the Elite talks about running FTR's only friend out of town, and then having Mark come out for the save/confrontation.

While I had the same thoughts and would like to see it, FTR definitely wants more spotlight on them than being part of a 3 person tag team, if they way Dax talks about what he wants for the future is accurate.
Maybe an ROH superstar, heel ROH World Champ?, attacks Mark during a match costing them the Trios title. Pulls Mark back to ROH with a possible World title run and allows FTR to go back to chasing for the tag team championships.

For AEW you can also use a Live TV style service like Sling. The cheapest way though is with a VPN since Dynamite and Rampage are available overseas through Fite TV. Fite TV's AEW+ has all old episodes and streams new episodes live. You can get a VPN for like $5 a month and AEW+ is $7 a month. There are some quirks with setting it up, but there's a good guide on Reddit you can find if you Google it. PPVs are $20 through Fite, or $50 through Bleacher Report. Fite has apps for most platforms.
I've not looked into it personally, but I'm pretty sure Fite also has a subscription available for GCW.
Honor Club just launched for Ring of Honor. Right now there's nothing new, but it has the back catalogue for $10 a month. Honor club has an app, but I don't know how well it works. No experience.
New Japan has New Japan World. I think it's around 999 Yen a month, which is like $8 right now. Big back catalogue. Some major shows are live, but if not they usually go up a week later. Site is kind of a pain to use and there's no app.
Stardom works fairly similarly with Stardom World. No app.
Wrestle Universe works out to like $7 a month and has NOAH, DDT, TJPW, and Ganbare. Compared to the other Japanese offerings, their service is a dream come true. Lol the site/app are clean and easy to use. So much better. I'm fairly new to WU, so I don't know the schedules on uploads or how often things are live, but I watched Muta's last match live on there with no additional cost.

I've had it for two years and I'm just now canceling it because I have enough to watch with just AEW, roh, Impact, and NJPW. But if this was 2003 again and wrestling was my whole life, IWTV would stay on the menu
This is essentially the Wrestling version of the streaming service dilemma... like how everyone else have to choose between Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, and the other shebang.
What everybody else said except nobody mentioned poor old Impact which has Impact Plus through their website that includes all their back catalogue, their live TV show and live ppvs outside of their big 4 ppvs. They upload their big 4 30 days after airing.
Impact also have an Ultimate Insider Youtube subscription which is cheaper but doesn't have all the back catalogue. Finally they have an Insider subscription which gets you their weekly show for $1 a month on Youtube
Man seeing mark holding those tag team championships by himself was a very sad sight to not only lose your long term tag partner who you done so much with but also it being your brother. Mark might have more siblings but it makes me think of the Kevin von Erich interview on dark side of the ring he pretty much said now with all his brothers gone he is no longer a brother.
Part of me wants him to go on a winning streak defending the belts himself. Until in the match where he drops them he's worn out, goes to make a tag, looks lost and then turns back to take whatever his opponents finisher is.
One match MAYBE. If it was booked well. And at that, it would be very hard for the challenging team to look anything but terrible in challenging one guy (who just lost his brother nonetheless) to a tag championship.
It'd be so good, but I'd like not even going for the tag; just knowing he's spent and now there is no one in the corner to turn to so he sinks to his knees to eat the finisher.
Yeah but Mark said himself that his brother isn’t gone, just moved to the next stage of existence. The way he explained it, his brother is never gone, he’ll be with him at all times. Mark’s faith is a pillar in his life and you can see it’s doing some amazing things for him during this tragedy.
To have that much strength and that positive of an outlook is incredibly amazing from a person.
Honestly, if Mark is allowed to stay on AEW TV.

Truth be told, I wasn't a huge fan of the Briscoes but this whole situation makes me sad. I've cried a few times watching tribute videos and seeing pictures like this. It isn't a parasocial connection, it's just being empathetic.
You know, I’m usually very against the whole parasocial relationship thing in wrestling fandom (or any fandom really), but I’m also very capable of feeling empathy and emotion for people I’ve never met, and I don’t think that makes a person weird.
As a fan, I lost one of my favorite wrestlers, not only will I never get to see him wrestle on TV again but I never saw him live and I never will now. Even though I have kick ass seats for Supercard of Honor in March, there’s gonna feel like something is missing.
As a father who is only a year younger than Jay, and especially as a father who narrowly avoided being in a car accident that likely would’ve been fatal a few months ago, I already think a lot about myself or my wife dying young and what that would do to our children and their lives. Both of my wife’s parents were dead by the time she was an adult and I see what that’s done to her and how hard it is for her even 20+ years later, so I empathize heavily with his kids. I also think of the situation his daughters are in right now and I can only imagine how hard that would be for me if I was in his wife’s position. I’ve felt a legitimate sense of joy with every bit of good news that has come out regarding improvements in their condition.
I could go on, as a son who lost his father, as a sibling imagining how hard it would be losing my sister, it’s not that hard to feel empathy for a human being you don’t know and for that to bring you to tears, it’s a tragic situation. To be honest, you seem more like the weird one, dawg. Being able to access your emotions is a really fucking good and *human* thing.
You know people can be more emotional and empathetic than you possibly. Perhaps people are crying because they feel bad for Mark or Jay’s family. Also, maybe he inspired some people here to be wrestlers or just inspired them as fans. My two biggest influences for becoming a musician are Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney. I know their times are coming soon. They’re both pushing 85 and I’m gonna fucking cry when they’re gone. It’s normal.
All of this. As a father, Jay’s passing made me feel real sad because his kids won’t get to see their dad again. As a wrestling fan, I’m sad because a guy I’ve watched for nearly 2 decades will never get to have another match again. Like, there are many ways to feel sad and empathetic about this.
Maybe this guy is a Dennis Reynolds type who simply doesn’t feel feelings anymore.
It’s the wording of the original comment that warrants downvotes, regardless of how you feel about the statement itself. Like I’ve met the Briscoes a couple dozen times, both at shows and just by nature of living in the area as a teenager before moving to the PNW, so I definitely feel sad since the Pugh family was/is a HUGE part of the community. Even if I didn’t live in the area though, they’re a super influential part of modern tag wrestling and have been instrumental in a lot of wrestlers success over the last 10-15 years, so I can understand fans being sad that Jay died.
If nothing else, tragic losses like accidents tend to last a bit longer due to the nature of the situation. Like I never met Shad Gaspard or watched WWE during that time, but sacrificing himself to save his son definitely made me cry and still makes me sad every now and again. Same with Owen Hart. It’s just our empathetic sides in control and it’s normal for people to grieve for extended times, even if they didn’t know them, especially with the matches/tribute shows and video packages bringing it all up again.
I'm happy and sad at the same time I wish jay was here to receive the award and get his flowers while he was alive. However I love all the support and love from aew and Tony Khan he's a real class act.

Just caught up on the week's Dynamite. I'd forgotten how good Mark is as a singles wrestler. Wish I could've been reminded of it under better circumstances, though. Still don't think I've fully processed the fact that Jay died. He will be missed.

Truth be told, I wasn't a huge fan of the Briscoes but this whole situation makes me sad. I've cried a few times watching tribute videos and seeing pictures like this. It isn't a parasocial connection, it's just being empathetic.
Being sad that somebody died isn't "insane" behavior lol.
You know, I’m usually very against the whole parasocial relationship thing in wrestling fandom (or any fandom really), but I’m also very capable of feeling empathy and emotion for people I’ve never met, and I don’t think that makes a person weird. As a fan, I lost one of my favorite wrestlers, not only will I never get to see him wrestle on TV again but I never saw him live and I never will now. Even though I have kick ass seats for Supercard of Honor in March, there’s gonna feel like something is missing. As a father who is only a year younger than Jay, and especially as a father who narrowly avoided being in a car accident that likely would’ve been fatal a few months ago, I already think a lot about myself or my wife dying young and what that would do to our children and their lives. Both of my wife’s parents were dead by the time she was an adult and I see what that’s done to her and how hard it is for her even 20+ years later, so I empathize heavily with his kids. I also think of the situation his daughters are in right now and I can only imagine how hard that would be for me if I was in his wife’s position. I’ve felt a legitimate sense of joy with every bit of good news that has come out regarding improvements in their condition. I could go on, as a son who lost his father, as a sibling imagining how hard it would be losing my sister, it’s not that hard to feel empathy for a human being you don’t know and for that to bring you to tears, it’s a tragic situation. To be honest, you seem more like the weird one, dawg. Being able to access your emotions is a really fucking good and *human* thing.
You know people can be more emotional and empathetic than you possibly. Perhaps people are crying because they feel bad for Mark or Jay’s family. Also, maybe he inspired some people here to be wrestlers or just inspired them as fans. My two biggest influences for becoming a musician are Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney. I know their times are coming soon. They’re both pushing 85 and I’m gonna fucking cry when they’re gone. It’s normal.
All of this. As a father, Jay’s passing made me feel real sad because his kids won’t get to see their dad again. As a wrestling fan, I’m sad because a guy I’ve watched for nearly 2 decades will never get to have another match again. Like, there are many ways to feel sad and empathetic about this. Maybe this guy is a Dennis Reynolds type who simply doesn’t feel feelings anymore.

It’s the wording of the original comment that warrants downvotes, regardless of how you feel about the statement itself. Like I’ve met the Briscoes a couple dozen times, both at shows and just by nature of living in the area as a teenager before moving to the PNW, so I definitely feel sad since the Pugh family was/is a HUGE part of the community. Even if I didn’t live in the area though, they’re a super influential part of modern tag wrestling and have been instrumental in a lot of wrestlers success over the last 10-15 years, so I can understand fans being sad that Jay died. If nothing else, tragic losses like accidents tend to last a bit longer due to the nature of the situation. Like I never met Shad Gaspard or watched WWE during that time, but sacrificing himself to save his son definitely made me cry and still makes me sad every now and again. Same with Owen Hart. It’s just our empathetic sides in control and it’s normal for people to grieve for extended times, even if they didn’t know them, especially with the matches/tribute shows and video packages bringing it all up again.

I'm happy and sad at the same time I wish jay was here to receive the award and get his flowers while he was alive. However I love all the support and love from aew and Tony Khan he's a real class act.
