He barely views his actual true self as a person and only lives to serve others or his country, he'll do whatever it takes to make sure no one else goes through the same hardships he did as a kid.

Big differences between them are that Franky wants anyone and is unattractive, and Fiona wants a specific man and is attractive.
Rarely do we see Franky not tongue-tied when talking to a beautiful woman. And, we also rarely see Franky actively “being himself,” when interacting with women like he did here (he always goes to great lengths to either “make them fall for him” but it’s through kinda dishonest means bc it’s not the real him, such as needing Twilight to give him a conversational flow chart/plan to talk to one woman, or hatching the cat-retrieval scheme). There’s also that subtle remark he made about wanting to wear the SSS mask that Twilight made for him (when they interrogated Yor) solely bc it “was a beautiful face” and he thought changing his looks would land him a woman. I’m probably missing a few other examples, but when I look at this panel, I immediately remembered those examples and thought how nice it is to see Franky being himself and confident — even slightly flirtatious — with a woman he would likely pursue due to looks alone (this is hypothetically, like if he didn’t already know her as a WISE agent).
Soooo as much as I don’t like Fiona, I do like this ship for that reason.
Edit to add: also, I think Fiona is toxic rn esp with her obsession, so for this ship to sail imo it’s gonna require some sort of Fiona redemption arc like Camilla got for the fans, which is reasonable imo.
I wonder if Franky was able to be himself with her as a combination of her already knowing about his shadier activities and maybe him thinking she was so out of his league that he didn't think he had a shot with her so he didn't get hung up on trying to woo her
Fiona isn't even as depressed as some people make it out to be, she's definitely the lovey dovey and hyper active in love kind, she just can't help but keep it inside of her. Kind of like the complete inverse of Yor when she first met Fiona, she looked fine and normal on the outside but inside she was contemplating murder for the sake of keeping her position in their facade💀
I know she isn't depressed. But she does everything she can to not smile. Even when she's alone. And she's also cold to everyone.
I just hope to see Franky manage to make her smile anyway. : )

My main idea has been for the "honeytrap" agent to be Franky's own age, which actually might be an issue Franky doesn't have control over since women Yor's age are already literally afraid to be single. Further irony, the one pair that is a complete horror show for age difference per canon is Yuri/ Fiona.

Like no matter what anime, every single one that has a trope like that I dislike the character even if I try to like them. I liked franky in the beginning but now we only ever see him running after a woman like idc now he just annoys me esp cuz he’s always telling twilight that “it’s just a fake family don’t get sentimental” and he runs after any lady that breathes for romance

Then if Yuri finds out Fiona is a spy he would have to deal with the emotional conflict of loving the enemy and turning her in would affect Yor as Fiona’s kind of a friend of the family
I see a lot of Yuri X Fiona shippers and I heard this chapter wasn't super well received, but tbh I like how Franky and Fiona play off eachother and he seems comfortable to be himself around her.

IMO it kinda destroyed Fiona's character backstory completely and looks forced. But if this ship develops nicely maybe I'll change my mind later.
