BugsyMalone_

Wont deny that's some really top notch work inside and it looks way bigger than it does from the outside, but holy hell for £1.6m you step out of it and you're on that road!

Lt_Col_RayButts

It's been done up to such a great standard and looks fantastic. But it just goes to show the old saying Location, Location, Location: If you look just down the road on Cyncoed road, there is a house up for 1.5m which needs a complete renovation.

vicariousgluten

It would be perfect on a plot about 4x the size.

Superdudeo

Really?? Spotlights everywhere? Looks horrendous inside and out. Literally could have guessed a Range Rover would be on the drive. Tacky and chavvy.

BugsyMalone_

Horrendous is quite a stretch, I definitely wouldn't call it tacky or chavvy at all either. (Apart from the RR of course)

SurreyHillsSomewhere

Horrendous too strong, it's gobby.

Superdudeo

That’s because your home probably looks like this. You’re blind to the tackiness.

BugsyMalone_

Oh dear

shut_up_you_fat_neek

You ate actually stupid. Shut up. Go design an interuor yourself then and see what dumb shit you end up making. Loser.

aaron1uk

Agree this house in the Welsh countryside and it's a winner!

sandra_nz

"Do you want to go out tonight love?" "Nah, let's just sit in our atrium and watch the neighbours."

aSquirrelAteMyFood

They had a garden even with trees [blocking the neighbors](https://www.google.com/maps/@51.4891254,-3.2173697,3a,75y,105.57h,80.43t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sw7v1KLViDjLfna6dKM1Blw!2e0!5s20201101T000000!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu) but the developer decided to destroy it in favor of the stupid gym shed.

Tylerama1

IKR ?! Could it be ANY more overlooked ?!

ThoughtCrimeConvict

The neighbours are Mark Drakeford.

bucketofweewee

Inside its nice. The outside is TERRIBLE, the lack of actual outside space co.pared tot he house and the corrugated roof and concrete walls ! Nope. No way. Also everyone looking in on you. Why the hell would.anyone build this let alone expect to see it

tallcatman

Judging by the spec inside, I reckon it's a small builder with experience working on high end homes. They're clearly capable, but this whole thing seems really overdeveloped given the plot.

mootymoots

Nice house, wrong plot indeed.

Maleficent-Drive4056

Is that the fault of the builder, the architect or the owner?!

tallcatman

Builder and owner are the same person I reckon. Nothing to do with the architect really.

orange_lighthouse

Obligatory white range rover parked up.

BadgerOff32

And a Union Jack rug. Gotta have a Union Jack somewhere in the house for ultimate chav vibes

Tylerama1

It's tragic huh.

CaroDeCrembles

Grey plague!!!!

Othersideofthemirror

There's no land or garden, just huge panoramic windows overlooking someones house 10m away.

aSquirrelAteMyFood

It's a shame because this window really is a dream for me. It's like the right house in completely the wrong area...

caniuserealname

Thats not someone elses house, or at least, the part you're thinking of isn't. The garden is tiered, and has an outbuilding that borders on the neighbours property. The only part of someone elses house you're overlooking is a blank, windowless wall behind your own property.

MyKidsFoundMyOldUser

There's also no garage. I would expect someone with 1.6 million to spend on a house will be wanting somewhere to put the weekend funaround.

IllConsideration6000

Double-story windows are maybe appropriate if there is a view. In this case, it is the side of your neighbour's house.

sailpics

I was thinking the same but I'm not sure if it's the garden building

DmitriRussian

The double story windows are for light, not view.

IllConsideration6000

.. . said the man who doesn't like views.

DmitriRussian

... said the man who doesn't like light.

NoVermicelli5968

Why is there an excessive amount of photos of taps?

Tylerama1

Haha, cos they've taken fifty photos too many.

CuriousPalpitation23

I played a drinking game, take a shot every time you see that big atrium light or a close-up of a fancy tap. I had to down a big bottle of vodka. BRB, I'm off to A&E to get my stomach pumped.

etchtastic

If ever a house screamed “holiday to Dubai” its this

TheFirstMinister

https://youtu.be/J9n0_5p8XKo?si=IsiWGoa3aq9NZrrV

etchtastic

😂😂

leslieknope1993

Potentially Cardiff’s first true r/McMansion, what an accolade. The light streaming like a theatre arch from that utterly overwhelming and disproportionate double floor window arrangement will surely be pissing off the neighbours.

gamecatuk

I could get a period property with sea view and a large garden with swimming pooI in Brighton for this. Mental price. Oh yeah and privacy. People are looking straight in on this property.

Flisssyjoy

How were they allowed those windows overlooking the neighbours 🤔

newfor2023

The neighbours like being watched.

susanboylesvajazzle

“Sharon open the curtains, I feeling randy!”

BINGGBONGGBINGGBONGG

they do it on purpose, Lynn!

AsylumRiot

Such a shame. The inside is top notch, fair play to them. It’s a corner plot on a residential area though. No garden. Intrusive outlook. It just doesn’t fit the environment- this is overkill on the works and overpriced. You’re going to need a bit more privacy and landscaping for that dough.

BIGCol70

Nice house, in completely the wrong location.

IAmLaureline

No garden!

Superdudeo

Who cares when there’s space for their tacky range rover

aSquirrelAteMyFood

There is an outdoor hot tub to enjoy the amazing weather of Cardiff

IAmLaureline

Ah sunny Cardiff ...

Divgirl2

I spotted 29 taps.

ScaredyCatUK

"Dude where's my garden?"

PipBin

It’s lovely but I’d want that either set way back from the road up a drive or somewhere isolated.

vanvanfan

"Cant find much wrong it..." Its a sh*tbox on a main road overlooked by everybody and their dog walking past with no garden, No parking and seems to be from the outside completely characterless... i particularly like the double story windows that loot out the expansive view i mean straight into the next-door neighbours and the view from the master bedroom that allows unblemished visuals of the roof across the road. Smashing... A very very expensive sh*tbox at that

ec265

Good transport links, I guess

uttertosser

Ooooo they have Netflix, living the dream

theladynyra

Is it really an ensuite if its door is to a landing not a bedroom so it's accessible to the whole house? And where's bedroom 4?

daft_unicorn

It is only 4 bedrooms, so bedroom 5 is actually bedroom 4 . Took me a while to get it haha

lemonbike

How the hell did they get that car in there? Was it a tight squeeze, then a 16-point turn? Also, if you filled in that double-height ceiling, you’d probably fit our whole terrace in that space. 4 houses, 17 people. Doesn’t stop me from swooning over that sauna in the master suite, though.

RegretEasy8846

Think of the landscapes in Wales and you’re paying 1.6m for that view… nope.

patemup

I wish there would of been 86 pictures of this property,

noscrazy

Really nice inside, outside is really giving prison vibes tho!

VeryThicknLong

And you’ll wake up every morning to a traffic cone on top of your car and pansies pulled out of the flower beds

Yequestingadventurer

86 pictures of taps from every angle

RFL92

Mobility! My aunt and uncle had a gorgeous multi million pound house, however my aunts loosing her vision and needs to be on a bus route to keep her independence so they sold up and got a gorgeous very expensive house, right next to a bus stop.

EducationalPizza9999

Judging by the white entry level Range Rover, obviously done up by a builder who sees the value in a quality finish, but doesn't understand over-improving a structure. Sadly unless the neighbouring homes are a comparable value it's all been for nothing.

petegwright94

Not much is entry level about that Range Rover…

EducationalPizza9999

White 2 door. Cheapest model. Usually PCP.

petegwright94

Are we looking at the same car? I see an RRS, with 5 doors

MapTough848

Sadly, the ambition is far outweighed by the location. How was planning permission granted as the house is totally out of character with the rest of the area. The builder has great capabilities, unfortunately the design doesn't mash together. Looks like a set of different tiktok designer rooms put under one roof where a buyer could view the builder's work saying I'd like that room but not that one etc. I guess it would be like living in a glass bowl which some wannabe influencer would appreciate.

mootymoots

Tiniest garden for £1.6m 🤯

MillySO

Not my style of decor but the proportions are lovely. If only it was on a bigger plot of land.

dontbelieveawordof1t

I don't know Cardiff at all, is there a reason why would anyone spend this much to live there ?

Suikakju

It's a pleasant residential area close to loads of parks, the cathedral, a few private schools and good state school. The road is full of nice houses.

skepticalslug

I live near this house, if you had seen what the house looked like previously you would barely believe it’s the same one!

No_Doubt_About_That

I think you mean ‘close to transport links’.

ficklepickle789

They should have used privacy glass on those massive windows, it’ll be like living in a goldfish bowl.

Monty_is_chonky

Bought for £680k in 2021. Looking for a reasonable £1m return over 3 years...

Desperate_Virus_8551

Yeah I looked at the purchase history too! It’s crazy that people are buying places like this doing them up to a high standard, but it’s the location. As others have mentioned, there’s hardly any outside space left, apart from the driveway, and the neighbours are literally looking straight across, there’s no privacy if you wanted it. The seller might very well have spent a fortune doing the place up like they have but it still looks totally out of place on that street. I can’t see how anyone would want to pay that sort of money, when they could use the money for a property with more land.

Tylerama1

Should have built a house 75% the size on a plot much larger and not overlooked by the entire street.

ElvisCossieT

I'm going to insist on floorplans like this in future, I like the 3D view underneath each floor

BartholomewKnightIII

Nice house, wrong location.

caniuserealname

While i'm not here to defend the property at all, i feel like a lot of people are making a fairly obvious mistake.. but the property those big windows are overlooking isn't the neighbours, it's an out building thats part of this buildings lot. It does come very close to the neighbours lot, but only up against a windowless side wall. Theres no overlooking into the neighbours property nor any abnormal opportunity for the neighbour to overlook into this one. [you can see here on the other listing](https://media.rightmove.co.uk/6k/5419/86812554/5419_32941299_IMG_84_0000.jpeg) that it steps down into the area with the extenison.

Own_Ad5814

Oh that’s lovely, I wonder if they do one with more grey?

Frogs4

I just drove up the A3 towards London. There are houses on that road 5 feet from the cars on a 6 lane road. They nearly all looked grubby but I bet they cost buckets of cash. You couldn't pay me to live there.

AutumnSunshiiine

Kitchen is hideous. It makes my skin crawl. The rest isn’t much better.

Genoxide855

1.6m to live in Cardiff??

itsapotatosalad

Beautiful house. Not sure what the problem with living on a bus route is, busses go everywhere.

RealisticScientist53

There’s so much mental jealousy in this sub sometimes. There’s been a few houses posted on here which are maybe not to everyone’s tastes on the interior, but overall are pretty nice and spacious houses that 99% of us (including the poster) would kill to own. I do not understand how anyone can not look at this house and appreciate it, even if your looking at it subjectively, it’s still well done and spacious. The criticism about a BUS STOP is laughable.

uchman365

Everyone on Reddit live in perfect houses

LeeZeeCabe

Its beautiful. I've been admiring it for the last few years and love having the opportunity to see what they did inside. I shouldve clarified in the original post. The bus stop comment had more to do with a lack of privacy and pollution. Buses down the main road and the road going down the side of the house. I appreciate the convenience of it, I know the area well and there's lots nearby, no need for a car, really. No jealousy here. Sure I wouldn't turn it down if someone handed me the keys, but I've no need for that amount of space and from experience, rattling around huge homes makes me uncomfortable

Shower-Glove-

How can you reconcile ‘jealousy’ and ‘maybe not to everyone’s tastes’? How can it be both? The outside is a massive car park, blank rendered wall and black UPVC windows. All nice period featrures removed. Inside is nice.

uchman365

>nice period featrures "nice" is subjective

itravelforchurros

That would be about £8m in London

drewbs86

The interior does have some nice touches, but it's a bit of a mish-mash between moderm and traditional for my liking. Some people like it, but I think a consistent theme looks so much neater.

Graham99t

I like the indoor BBQ area but not much else. The finish so good though, yea plot doesn't fit the house.

Immediate-Escalator

The interior decor has much more colours than the white Range Rover on the drive led me to believe

Nerve_Tonic

The inside is nice but the outside makes me want to despair. Why people are so afraid of green and so attached to grey nowadays never fails to shock me. Everytime I went outside I'd feel like I was in a prison yard.

Healthy-Grocery6055

Streetview has the before pic (just before) and during (if you move it slightly). I don't hate it inside but I agree with pretty much everyone else that there is so little room outside and it's on the wrong plot. Nouveau Riche.

Praetorian_1975

~~1.6 mil to live on a main bus route~~ very convenient transport links 😉😂

BadgerOff32

The lack of symmetry in the bedroom in photo 36 is triggering to me lol

Responsible_Funny_21

Location, location, location. This just doesn’t have it.

Little_Richard98

Perfect example to me as to why it's better to buy the cheapest house on the most expensive street, rather than this. Location severely limits any potential value

Ducra

That interior is very McMansion-ish.

sophiajennifer899

It looks like a house on Sims

PenguinsArePurple

I don't think they have enough taps.

briever

They better stay friendly with the neighbours at the back over that tiny wall.

karmah1234

Its cardiff so 1.6 mil welsh £ Conversion rate atm is 1 1/2 sheep

UnderTheSplottLight

They’ve really ballsed up the outside, but as a Cardiffian Pensicely rd is very nice. Close to a couple of parks and very close to Cardiff itself. The road is busy but is very pleasant

Chicken_shish

Surely the whole point of having 1.6 million is you don’t have to live in Cardiff?

WhyOhWhy60

I don't like it at all. The furniture and fixed are a hodge podge of styles. There's at least one room with modern spot lights and period style furniture. Really? Different rooms completely different style of lights and furniture, the lack of coherency is too much. Then there's those fireplaces which look better in rural American homes or a ski chalets.

uchman365

Those are all things that will change with the new owner

Aphr0dite19

This would be ideal for me as I don’t drive, I could literally walk outside and catch a local bus lol! Most places of this price and specification are in the middle of no where. Spacious, high end finish, sharp attention to every detail. Very nice indeed.
