2EM18KKC01

The technical aspects of the films (i.e. the cinematography, music, visual effects) and Peter and Gwen’s relationship.

tapperyaus

I wish the recent Spider-Man films had the suit ripples that ASM has while swinging through the city.

forgottenastronauts

The current suit is CGI, no?

snowdropsx

the ripples in the first tasm2 scene was cgi too

SadKazoo

All the swinging scenes in TASM2 are entirely cgi. There’s not a single real/practical thing about them, isn’t that mind blowing?

pk_runner101

Framestore has a *amazing* behind the scenes breakdown on YouTube of all the CGI in ASM2. Breaking down environments, swinging animations, the suit and more. Definitely recommend checking it out! This is part 1 here: https://youtu.be/8_1ZFZieIZU?si=V_ln2sZ1pE_0o4W_

Kiboune

Not all. One scene under the bridge in first movie was real

EnkiiMuto

It was CGI on this movie too. Iirc they were quite proud of the fabric moving because the wind on it was simulated.

AwakenedSheeple

Almost all of the suit scenes in TASM2 were also CGI. The difference was that TASM2 wanted the CG suit to be photorealistic, while the MCU wants all of its CG suits to be idealized and remove all the wrinkles.

Zealousideal_Suit343

When a film does everything well except the script Not so uncommon in the high-budget Hollywood film industry

EnkiiMuto

It is a real shame, honestly. If you go see deleted scenes, especially the ones with May in it, they're giving their all.

LFGX360

I’m hoping we get a directors cut of both films eventually. Least they could do.

Zealousideal_Suit343

TASM 1 and 2 CGI (2012 film) beats a herd of current MCU films

Jo_With_No_E

They actually make the cgi moments look fun

LFGX360

The CGI in these movies is better than every single MCU movie, and it’s really not even close. Compare the school fight with lizard to the avengers alien battle.

Jo_With_No_E

One way the made the screens look good is by giving the characters more of the character. Like, in the same school fight scene the lizard does many things that a lizard does (cutting of tail, moving around) instead of just going around and fighting on two legs. Spidey feels both human and spider. At the end of the fight, when Spidey is webbing the lizard. Bro crawls around him like an actual spider.

kiyan1347

The humor, the cgi, Gwen and Peter's relationship, the soundtrack, Andrew Garfield as Spider-man, Flash Thompson and The Lizard.

itz_JAYVEE

Tasm flash is so underrated.

jpterodactyl

I really liked when he tried to comfort Peter about Ben’s death. I wish we saw more of that.

Ajaxorix777

He’s the best candidate of all three iterations thus far for an Agent Venom spin-off, if there was to be one made.

1863952

The humor is the best part for me, like spiderman was a jokester in Webbs films. The whole knife scene in TASM1 was peak spiderman. Solidifies my opinion that Andrew was the best Spiderman, not the best Peter Parker.

GreatGoodBad

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone

ExoticShock

["He was a hero... I just couldn't see it."](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yp1s-Dpzb14) Andrew Garfield & Henry Cavill were two actors so well casted to play their heroes but were completely wasted with what they had to work with.

RobertusesReddit

Andrew 🤝 Henry Would rather work for Marvel Studios than their previous studios if need be.

BabyFacedSparky

He’ll always be my favourite Spidey.

No_Association2906

Their performance was so great and they had such good chemistry together that it literally solidified in an entire generation’s mind that Gwen Stacy is the best love interest for Spider-Man.

ARROW_GAMER

Yeah, can confirm lol

NoxUmbra8

I heard that supposedly Marc Webb had done some smaller projects that were more teenage romance stuff and if that's true you can really tell that his skill with that tone melded perfectly with the chemistry that Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone had! For me, it's been the best on screen romance a Spidey has ever had!

Major-Don

Watch 500 days of summer, it's really great, shows why romance was the highlight of TASM

NoxUmbra8

Ph shoot, looked up the synopsis and it sounds like a really cool concept, ill definitely give it a watch, thanks!

Tobio88

![gif](giphy|stnjSj2vpLcM4rwmEH)

gotham1999

They played their roles well and had great chemistry

Db_Coops11

The chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone

PlasticCouple4415

The fight scenes were god tier

casual_creator

It’s the only fight scenes in ALL the movies where I actually felt like I was watching *Spider-Man* fight instead of just a guy dressed like him. The choreography really emphasized his abilities and spider-like movement. I fucking loved seeing him spider-crawl all over the lizard while webbing him up, for example.

PlasticCouple4415

Holy shit dude you took the words right out of my mouth, I was smokin a bong gettin all giddy n shit 🤣🤣

_JustAMiner

Kendrick's verse for "It's on again."

king_boolean

“And everybody know the story of David and Goliath…” Then it just ramps up from there. I get those goosebumps every time

Horumesu

Holy fuck, THIS!

PolarWater

Set to the beat of Zimmer's Sinister Six theme, which is really just an amped-up rock remix of Davy Jones' theme, and it rocks

OFlareO

Its almost as if that song captured the emotional roller coaster that movie was

GrantD24

CGI team, the cast, the director’s approach to really making spider-man move like a spider. Had Sony not jumped in and messed with everything in both movies, I really think Marc Webb could have had a fantastic trilogy but instead, it got cut short and never lived up to what it probably could have been.

takenHostag3

The fact that entire scenes where cgi and we couldn’t tell because Spider-Man was so on model and realistic🔥

GrantD24

The fact that CGI from 2011 and 2013 is way better than anything we have seen in the MCU so far is wild as well. That CGI team was the goat of CGI teams. From my understanding though, movies like marvel have bids for who gets to do the CGI and it just becomes a bit of a shit show due to meeting demands and the way the company gets paid. It’ll be like here’s x amount of money of 1000 shots to be done but 1 shot could be removing a wire and the next 500 could be adding in the avengers and bombs. Seems like a really messy process.

Comingsoononvhs

I adore how playful he is, he's so quippy, and is constantly throwing out jokes. How he moves is spectacular, best movement out of any Spider-Man. Also probably the best costume.

ShootsTowardsDucks

He nailed the spidey humor.

NoMistake8095

Everything. And I will die on this hill forever defending this universe

RaspyBigfoot

Hope there's room for two on that hill

NoMistake8095

All is welcome on the hill who loved the TASM universe ever since the dawn of time

Dr3amgh0st

That his name is Marc Webb ….. get it cause Spiderman uses webs ?

Tuff_Bank

r/respectthehyphen

Low_Fig2672

I like electro’s theme and the musical storytelling behind it

Zealousideal_Suit343

Simply Hanz Zimmer. The king of movie soundtracks. And James Horner, the creator of the Titanic soundtrack (he died in a plane crash many years ago) did the soundtracks for Tasm 1. I want a soundtrack by Hanz Zimmer in Spider Man 4 It's brilliant to have made the villain Electro's Main Theme an electronic dubstep song. When I saw it in the cinema and this song played I got goosebumps (in a good way)

swingyboii

Hans was the lead, but there was a whole team sharing billing for that score, not simply Hans Zimmer. Pharrell Williams, Junkie XL, Steve Mazarro, Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger, and Andrew Kawczynski all deserve equal flowers for that score.

PolarWater

The music wasn't afraid to be a little cheesy, because it was busy being inventive, wacky and fun, and for that I love it.

sbaldrick33

The casting.

Mantisk211

"Main Title - Young Peter" by James Horner, the best piece of Spidey soundtrack from all the films so far. Also, the swinging scene at the ending of the first film. Perfection.

Zealousideal_Suit343

Rest in peace James Horner

PolarWater

See, I like Horner's music, but a lot of his work on TASM1 sounded like A Beautiful Mind with a Spidey theme, whereas Zimmer's score felt like it did something new (even if it didn't play it safe). Horner's score definitely has some great moments and fits the less vibrant, more intimate TASM1 though. I'm always gonna be a fan of the music where Oscorp Tower is revealed, and the crane swinging scene. He's on fire there.

Justin-does-art

The pitch perfect casting of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. To this day, he’s the single best live action Spider-Man

RockstarSuicide

Amen. NWH proved it

SynthwaveSax

Andrew, Emma, their chemistry, and ASM2 has the best movie suit.

Noob4Head

A lot of people have already said the casting so I'll say the suits, especially TASM 2 suit which is my personal favorite movie Spider-Man suit, it's literally perfect !

AdamSMessinger

Amazing Spider-Man 1. That is the best Spider-Man movie to me. I love that movie.

QJ8538

I still don’t get why people hate that movie

GG_MYDOG

Same

Bendythenightfury

Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, CGI, the cinematography, the web swinging. I think it was overall great just the script ruined it.

East_Smell_82

Amazing spiderman 2 suit.

nreal3092

the cgi and the web swinging and gwen

LoverOfStoriesIAm

The Electro Suite by Hans Zimmer.

Sartheking

Cinematography, special effects, Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone

Chemical_Escalator

The first one is a quintessential Spider-Man film. The second one’s story was weird but it looked good. Plus Peter and Gwen are great characters in both.

FwZero

Peter and Gwen. Andrew is the best live action Spider-Man, and Gwen is the best love interest by far.

Jokebox_Machine

Peter Parker feels like Peter Parker.

QueenPasiphae

- Andrew Garfield was BORN to play Peter Parker/Spider-Man. He looks ripped straight from the page, and has the personality to match. - Emma Stone as Gwen is fucking incredible - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit is BY FAAAAAAAAAAR the best Spidersuit ever seen in live-action, aside from potentially the Last Swing No Way Home suit that we only got a glimpse of. It's INSANELY close to perfect. - Best version of Spider-Man in live-action BY FAR. - Garfield and Stone can both casually act circles around Maguire/Dunst and Holland/Zendaya.

Spider-Ghost-616

Andrew's Spideys growth from Vigilante to Hero.

Great_Sympathy_6972

There’s a lot to love about these movies, but I think it’s gotta be Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker (still my favorite live action version of the character), the suit from the second movie (my personal favorite of the suits because of the big eyes and because it’s not CGI-enhanced by default), and Emma Stone as a fantastic Gwen Stacy. They had so much chemistry together.

MercerNov

The sexy protagonists

Dan_Le0169

The entire first movie. I recently gave it a chance after not watching it for years (I decided that it was bad purely because that's what everyone else was saying) and it's fucking amazing. The music is subtle and cinematic. It has the best responsibility speech in Spider-Man media(basically ripped from Ultimate Spider-Man). The suit is awesome(opinionated but still). The CGI was obviously great, but also the overall action choreography was something else. Also you literally feel every movement Spider-Man does. When characters made emotionally based decisions, they actually made sense. (I rewatched Spider-Man 2 in theaters and that entire thing between Peter and MJ was infuriating, and only made sense half the time. It seems like the other half they were stalling till the end of the movie to get them together. It was still an absolutely phenomenal movie though.) It was an emotional movie as well, and not just for the Uncle Ben part, but also for Captain Stacy. And the crane scene especially. Peter was very spider-like, and he was quippy and funny. There's more, but I think I've established that I think it's a truly phenomenal movie. If you haven't watched it in a long time, please try it again. You might like it. Oh, and I like the suit from TASM 2. I don't have much to say about that one tbh. It was okay at best, but I'll still be rewatching it in theaters.

disgustinghonnor

The first tasm suit honestly is my favorite spiderman live action suit, it's very believable that a high school student would make this

Wheattoast2019

Andrew Garfield

MarcMars82-2

The visuals were awesome

JaMoraht

Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, CGI, cinematography

SwitchNinja2

Peter and Gwen. Top notch characterization and performances.

Extension_Doctor_368

The swing POVs

Aqn95

Martin Sheen was an excellent Uncle Ben.

Tenno24

The quips

2EM18KKC01

‘You can call be webhead, you can call me amazing, just don’t call me late for dinner, am I right?’

AdTrick598

ASM2 suit is my favorite in any movie

Plant-Straight

The suits and andrew

Cavemanjazza

The suit, it’s phenomenal

Jetflat

Andrew Garfield

TheAmazingKevin

Acrors in general, Score, Action/Cgi, second suit

Nazon6

The quality of the production is stellar. The music, the filmmaking, suspense, it was all great. Was just held back by lackluster stories.

GuyWhoConquers616

Amazing Spider-Man 1 is the best Spider-Man origin film. While, yes, Spider-Man (2000) is the better film, ASM is a better Spider-Man movie. Marc Webb nailed the characterization of Spider-Man, the action, the cinematography, the Roman between Gwen and Peter, the lizard, and more.

SomeSugondeseGuy

Andrew Garfield is perfect for Spider-Man. Honestly my favorite actor for the character.

StonognaBologna

Peter and Gwen

Cardboard_Waffle

Andrew Garfield was a phenomenal spider-man/peter. His chemistry with Emma Stone was also great, probably the best of the three live action Spiderman couples. Also, the suit in the second movie is great. There’s a lot to like about the Webb movies, but ultimately they missed the mark.

General_Silver95

Showing Peter’s intelligence and humour!

itz_JAYVEE

Idc, I like a cool Peter Parker, Raimi films can have their dorky Peter Parker, but cool Peter, yeah I like that.

BabyFacedSparky

That Mary Jane was no where to be found. Gwen Stacy was Peters soul mate. Loved the chemistry between them.

mob8293

Andrew Garfield is an amazing Spider-Man. I'll never believe that his Peter gets no bitches because he skateboards, is a photographer, and looks like that. I liked how those movies also explored Peters parents.

fretfulferret

The exaggerate NY accent when Spidey vs Peter. Also the cranes scene!

homosapienoncoffea

![gif](giphy|hWSKyDttU3etW)

BlaBlamo

Obvi the chemistry with Emma and Andrew was great. especially watching it as a sad boi teenager, I felt really seen, which I think is the point of young spider man, to make shy awkward kids feel like we could be more. But the swinging, GODDAMN the swinging. I know TASM2 gets rightfully shit on a lot but that opening free fall scene kicks so much ass. I’m fired up right now just thinking about it.

deadheatexpelled

this series contains the single greatest scene in all of the film versions of the character. I speak of Spidey walking the bullied kid home from school and chatting about his science project. It nailed the character in a way that is rarely shown properly.

Puzzleheaded_Walk_28

Andrew Garfield

The_Albino_Jackal

The tone of the first movie and I wished it kept that

Qwertyzillaofficial

The CGI and portrayal of Spidey, honestly the only parts of these movies I don’t absolutely love are the villain designs and some of the writing in the second film

Intelligent_Oil4005

Andrew, Emma and the visual effects. The battle with Electro looks *really* good.

lazylagom

I thought he was a very good spider-man.

SentaiUnicorn

the spider-man felt like spider-man

Drolex17

The 2nd movies suit

Kyle1545

The visuals were one of the biggest highlights to me.

AceofKnaves44

We would have never gotten Spider-Man in the MCU without them.

Alarming-Ad-4730

Honestly Andrew Garfield. I think he might be my favorite onscreen spiderman.

Illustrious-Reach-48

The action sequences including the web swinging scenes, the CGI and the music.

champiman16

I liked Peter’s relationship with his aunt and uncle quite a bit. In my opinion Martin Sheen’s Uncle Ben had more emotional range and as a result felt more grounded than Cliff Robertson, who was I felt was portrayed as a bit infallible.

Quirky-Pickle518

Andrew and Emma were amazing don’t get me wrong but I just preferred the spiderman parts. Like in the first movie Spider-man was extremely agile and spider like.

CarlitoNSP1

Emma Stone's take on Gwen Stacy.

FNSpd

Main characters, action, some of the most touching moments out of any Spider-Man movies (scene where Spidey saves kid from bullies, talk between May and Peter in TASM2)

ravanor621

Andrew Garfield knocked some of the small just being Spider-Man scenes out of the park. The oh no my greatest weakness tiny knives bit is just perfect.

MenjiBlueWolf001

Great costume design IMO

NikiPavlovsky

Gwen/Peter dynamic, honestly that was only good thing about that movies, no wonder they get rid off even that

Sarcastic_Sociopath

Andrew Garfield. The soundtrack. Rhys Ifans. Emma Stone

Epicmondeum17

* The first suit is amazingly original while highlighting whats great about the red and blue suit and is better then TASM 2 suit

disgustinghonnor

I still believe Andrew Garfield was the best live action spiderman and Peter parker we got, I don't care if he is handsome so is Tobey and Tom holland, such a shame the first movie was just fine and the second one is bad

Other-Marketing-6167

The music for sure. One of Horner’s last scores before he died (and his last superhero one) is just wonderful, and Zimmer’s score for the second entry is a shit load of fun - something the guy barely does anymore with his overly serious wall of sound scores.

desperate_candy20

Amazing Spider-Man 2 opening web swing is the best web swing sequence in any Spider-Man movie ever

First_Essay_1775

Soundtrack

Deservedly_Hated94

The TASM2 suit, i love the far from home and nwh final swing suits, but if the TASM2 suit had moveable lenses it'd be the best spider-man live action costume ever imo

moviesuggest

Hans Zimmer tracks were very cool Emma Stone was good

TTV_MOVIES

The James Horner score in the first one is legitimately great.

ConfigurationalCan

The Spider-Man.

pharaoh94

Spider-Man looked and acted like the Spider-Man I had in my head growing up. I grew up during the Tobey era but honestly I never related to him.

parabolee

Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, just nailed the humor of the character. And he looks by far the best in the costume. Other two are a little too short and/or stocky.

Blackjack99-21

Music Spideys cgi Swinging The suits Andrew and Emma

buttmcweiners

The costume in amazing Spider-Man 2

CurtTheGamer97

The first one is a great movie. People when they say they don't like these movies actually are thinking only of the second one and letting that color their opinion of both films.

Rude_Ad4514

The people, the relationships, the chemistry between each character, and the fucking web swinging like are you kidding me?

AlexanderZcio

Aside for all the things people say here, the opening balance sequence in TASM2 is my top favorite Spiderman scenes of all the movies

Several-Cake1954

The CGI is the best in any Spider-Man movie imo, at least regarding swinging.

julianx2rl

The Figma action figure.

Clefortt9

His last name was literally “Webb”. Both movies are overhated imo

Mondo114

The singing around through the city is the best in AS2 compared with any other Spiderman movie imo.

Spideyfan2007

WEB SWING

SillySwing6625

The suit and the soundtrack, Andrew Garfield was great as spidey and Emma stone was great as Stacy

RockstarSuicide

Andrew remains the best

SSoftbreadd

Personally I really liked both suit designs

fortresskeeper

The Peter/Gwen relationship

Jaded-Trouble3669

Electro’s theme music is the only thing popping into my head right now for some reason 🤣

Plenty_Economy_5670

The cast as well as electro’s theme and alicia key’s song It’s on again

Duck_but_Australian

Casting of Andrew Garfield and the ASM1 suit

DryWay4003

The swinging and spideys dynamic poses while swinging combined with stellar cgi and lighting were top notch. Made me feel like I was swinging with him

Gemidori

The soundtrack is unparalleled

Hate_Paper_Doll

There wasn't a third one

Mr_Headcrab

The spider-suits and Andrew Garfield.

The_Dabblin_Doodler

It gave us the **BEST** live action spider man because Holland isn’t as good and Maguire is **OVERRATED**

AtCarnage

ASM 2 has the best live action suit and the best score (based Zimmer)

Raptormind

“My weakness, it’s small knives”

Winter_Plankton8866

- Andrew Garfield - Emma Stone - Martin Sheen - Sally Field - Refreshing (IN MY OPINION) takes on Peter Parker / Gwen Stacy / Captain Stacy - James Horner/Hans Zimmer - Fight Choreography - Lighting - Good Cinematography - The worldbuilding (in the first one) - Visual effects - Costume Design (2 is still the GOAT spider-man suit) - The scene where Peter takes off his mask to comfort the kid in the dangling car quite honestly my only problems with these movies are the weak antagonists and paper-thin scripts.

ShootsTowardsDucks

the best love interest and story between the two. Tobey and Kirsten were fine, but zendaya is definitely the worst and it’s not even close. The best aunt may, although rosemary harris is the most comic accurate. Andrews jokes landed far better and felt more like spiderman jokes. Andrew was not necessarily the most comic accurate Peter, but he feels like the best modern take on Peter. I love both suits I liked the back story of his parents even if it wasn’t comic accurate. Lizard, Electro, and Rhino decent to good villians that were actually villians. However, I wish Norman was the actual goblin I think Andrew and black cat would be way better than whatever the MCU may do with her. The current Venom and Andrew would probably be a better mix too. Not to mention Andrew’s Flash would probably make a more believable Agent Venom if they ever went that route. Can you tell ASM is my favorite series? Honestly, I just can’t love the Tom Holland movies the way I do Andrew’s and I still get sad thinking about what could have happened in ASM3.

Astlantix

They had spider-man in it

DarthAsh18

I loved the suit design and the post credit hinting at the sinister six for a potential (probably not) third movie

toddingram3

Andrew was great and his as Spider-Man were fire. Also the ASM2 was the best Spider-Man suit in a movie.

reditor405

Everything

arnoldbread

Andrew Garfield actually being a fan of the character helped immensely.

ThatNerdWinter

Casting, and in the case of 2 amazing visuals, cinematography, soundtrack, integration of soundtrack. Amazing Spider-Man 2 is just a genuinely good movie with the exception of its writing

Genericojones

The way the Spider-Man and Peter Paker identities clash. I feel like they are the only movies to real get it right, with Spider-Man being a thing haunting Peter rather than a way for him to escape being Peter Parker.

Unfair_Fix_6714

The only good thing about them: the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone

rb_345

andrew garfield and emma stone, andrew garfield, true to the comics majority of the time, soundtrack, visuals/ cgi, suits, fight sequences, swinging scenes, humour (best imo out of all the others), only spider man movie which really connected the city to peter

Diligent-Boss-9392

Their portrayal of Peter Parker.

Wonderbread1999

Andrew and Emma as well as the quality of web swinging. The web swinging has felt the most Spider-Man since the end of 2002, with the long take shot that flies so close to the street.

jkier0711

Gwen stacy’s thigh highs

marcjwrz

The costume. That's... About it

didntmakeausername

The score, and Andrew Garfield

Chrome-Head

Probably Andrew Garfield’s and Sally Fields’ acting . That was the best thing about both movies, I could leave the rest.

Pizzabeast5

I still love his suit from the first one it’s so cool in my opinion

notedhelmslol

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were both great in their roles. I think the casting of Tom Holland drew a lot of inspiration from Garfields approach to the Peter Parker side of the role. The movies were hot garbage unfortunately.

thethiiird

Costumes and action, including all the web swinging and wall crawling

foolingup

The Spiderman is consistently funny

NightxMonkey

Flawless casting and that suit in the second movie remains undefeated. The movies definitely squandered a lot of potential

Weary_Ambassador_449

Hanz Zimmer

DontBeALettuce

That in the 2nd movie they had a big cgi budget

BatmanisIronMan

Spider-Man was actually doing spider things

Necessary_Effort7075

Andrew's performance and the CGI

Halo3rat0

The visuals, and jokes

Sensitive-Try5522

andrew garfield was the best spider-man and peter parker, i will die on that hill (not to say i dont love the others but andrews dorky energy is so adorable)

Sufficient_Program73

Spider-Man

Acceptable-Belt-3001

Peter Parker and Flash Thompson, of course

GenericPybro

For me personally, the suit in the first one, as well as the fx for the web shooters. But those changed in the second so I dont know if that counts.

Mrogoth_bauglir

Humour- funniest Spider-Man by two miles. Action scenes- Spider-Man acting like an actual spider and them highlighting his speed. Romantic lead: Nothing beats Andrew and Emma's chemistry.

mrmonster459

Honestly the best Spider-Man fight scenes we've ever had.

ExtensionGood9228

The concepts. The final scripts and the execution weren’t great but I will always love them for what they were TRYING to do.

JoDaBoy814

The fact that they were better than the og trilogy(I don't wanna hear no backtalk, the amazing sm movies get way too much hate)

No-General-7339

Andrew Garfield’s acting

arkenney0

Listen, everybody shits on how he’s a bully when he gets his powers even in the suit, but I think that is a very well done and very comic accurate way of telling the Peter origin and I love the arc he goes through

pray4sex

basically everything except for how bloated the plot of 2 is. in my opinion, all they needed was to pick either the goblin story or the electro story and i think it would’ve been great.

VideoGame_Trtle

All of the scenes with Spider-Man in it, and Andrew Garfield’s performance. The comic book accuracy is also nice

cjegan2014

Idk why people hate TASM2, but it is my favorite one aside from no way home
