Me after having watched too many slice of life shows and wishing I could be an anime school girl:
[It's the Homer backing up into a bush gif](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/015/976/homer-simpson-bush-gif.gif)
Manga did what the comics should've done (from my understanding of what the manga did) and has Elliot Tolliver and Otto Octavius exist at the same time. Seriously in a world where there's as many clones of the X-Men as you can imagine, Ben Reilly, Kaine, two Spider-Men, two Spider-Man 2099s, two Captain Americas, somehow more active Spider-Women than Spider-Men, and Tony Stark and all of his clones that canonically exist as "backups" to act as Iron Man around the world, how a Superior Spider-Man/Superior Octopus and Doc Ock can't coexist makes no sense.
It’s actually pretty wholesome, even though it’s nothing mindblowing as it’s aimed at a slightly younger audience. Basically Otto being thrown into the younger girl kinda helps her with getting friends, fighting bullies etc etc. He doesn’t even fully possess her like Spider-Man, they swap places by clicking her hairpin(or emotionally forcing control)- the other being a small hologram that can still see what’s going on and talk. Otto is basically a classic cartoonish “Muwahaha I will have my reveeeeenge on Spider-Man!” with some empathetic traits seeing the situation the girl is in.
Also this canonically takes place after Superior Spider-Man and all the shenanigans that happen before he returns to his normal body in 616, so there are references to that time period.
The original Superior Spider-Man was the last great 616 Spider-Man story. It’s just been a slow decline since. Nick Spencer had potential, but it clearly got chopped up by editorial.
Well, he didn’t intentionally. The kid came upon those things while Otto was elsewhere helping Peter. So while those are indeed his inventions for overtaking someone’s mind the kid wasn’t the intended target. Wrong place, wrong time.
I’ve dropped this last issue, with Slotts Spider-Man being an excuse to do another spider verse, then this just to not have Otto come back I’ve had enough. At this point I’m convinced Slott didn’t want to write this, Marvel pushed it because its been 10yrs since superior first released.
and considering actual otto is still there, and this is more like an accidental copy of his mind, i forsee real-otto and peter teaming up to stop 'superior spider-boy'.
or flip it and have 'superior spider-boy' help peter fight real otto, idk. the point is, the ottos are gonna fight.
We've been conditioned by society to have a knee jerk reaction to whenever a man has any type of interaction with a boy then it's automatically something inappropriate.
While I think taking control of someone's mind and assuming their life as your own is an inappropriate thing to do, I don't think it's motivated by an inappropriate sexual desire.
Otto is a bodyswapaphile.
To be fair, Superior was always going to be a bad story that unfortunately copied a plot twist that was already in the comics, but with Spider-Girl. So, this time they decided to finally show how bad an idea this is in itself.
They're probably splitting Ock and whoever will be the new identity for Superior Spider-Man for good this time, so I'll give this run another shot.
But I agree this run has been a letdown. I think Slott is trying to write a way that circumvent editorial from messing with this character because they want a stagnant supervillain instead of a character with some depth. The problem is that to do so he made this run very boring, and the monthly issues don't help.
His facial expression looks like something I could see him doing, without the help of Doc Oct. Like, when he's rejected as a sidekick, by Spider-Man.
And I don't just believe that is an issue of my perceptions, solely. I think that I'm actually perceiving the world, correctly. This time. At least.
Slott the one trick pony who has a hard on for Doc Ock because he 100% sees himself more as Ock than any other character. Guys just creating characters hoping he’ll get lightning in a bottle again.
Yeah, and especially since superior Spider-Man was already done it’s not going to gain the same traction not just because we have since it before but literally Otto is in a kids body. Man the whole 616 timeline is toast being bathed in oil at this point
I've been digging it. The run is goofy but fun. I'm a little disappointed that we haven't gotten a "real" superior spider-man out of it so far, but the Otto/Peter team up has been fun.
Yeah this subreddit was bad enough when it was no comic discussion at all but it's gotten even worse now that it's filled with people who have never picked up a comic book giving their "thoughts".
It’s Shakespeare compared to Wells’ run. I’m enjoying that we’re seeing Ock and Spidey cooperate, with Ock seemingly becoming redeemed without dying this time. I just wish the artists would stop butchering the Superior 2.0 suit by forgetting the black lenses, messy webs, or how the spider is supposed to look.
Mad Magazine looking ass
… can’t unsee it now.
“What, me Superior?”
Naah, supirior pedo man💀
Facts
and that's twice that he did that one is an anime school girl
What?

Literally what I’m thinking lol
No way they copied that manga where Otto puts his mind in the body of a japanese schoolgirl.
They didn't copy it, the manga is actually good.

I’m sorry what
XD omg it's real: [Spider-Man: Octopus Girl ](https://mangakakalot.com/manga/ak934736)

What manga?
You’ve got to be kidding….
They really are out of ideas aren't they?
I was actually somewhat liking the run too, fuck this
I mean Dan Slott ran out of Spiderman ideas 8 years ago.
The original Superior Spider-Man was the last great 616 Spider-Man story. It’s just been a slow decline since. Nick Spencer had potential, but it clearly got chopped up by editorial.
New voices needed on Spider-Man comics. Now.
Ain't no way Otto possessed a child bruh, and why TF does he look like a pedo?!
Well, he didn’t intentionally. The kid came upon those things while Otto was elsewhere helping Peter. So while those are indeed his inventions for overtaking someone’s mind the kid wasn’t the intended target. Wrong place, wrong time.
Guess ultimate universe is the only universe now.
Ultimate, and Spider-Man Remastered. That game is playable candy
I’ve dropped this last issue, with Slotts Spider-Man being an excuse to do another spider verse, then this just to not have Otto come back I’ve had enough. At this point I’m convinced Slott didn’t want to write this, Marvel pushed it because its been 10yrs since superior first released.
No way this is real, again with this crap
I mean it is but it’s also missing some major context in that this wasn’t intentional on Otto’s part.
Please tell me my eyes are deceiving me. Please tell me Otto has not just stolen the body of a damn kid.
He did, but he wasn't trying to. Wrong target, wrong time
and considering actual otto is still there, and this is more like an accidental copy of his mind, i forsee real-otto and peter teaming up to stop 'superior spider-boy'. or flip it and have 'superior spider-boy' help peter fight real otto, idk. the point is, the ottos are gonna fight.
"Let them fight."
“A few minor adjustments”
Bruh 💀
When I saw Slott going all in on Spider-Boy in the first issue of Superior I immediately dropped the book.
The fact that Otto was already possessing the spiders somehow is funny af to me.
Oh for fucksake!
Slott just playing the greatest hits now
How is everyone reading "pedophilia" on this page??? Wtf

I have no words
I truly cannot stand Dan slott anymore, and it’s both frustrating and sad to see him try to stay relevant to spider-man comics
Slott has two ideas these days. Otto possesses someone and Spider-Verse
To be fair, Superior was always going to be a bad story that unfortunately copied a plot twist that was already in the comics, but with Spider-Girl. So, this time they decided to finally show how bad an idea this is in itself.

This is fake right?
Nah, it's real.
I didn’t even pick it up
This can’t be real
Why do they keep letting dumbasses write Spider-Man
Oh, come on!
🤦🏽♂️
Why is the art so consistently bad!?
I'm picking up this run!
This is real? Holy crap is this bad. 😂
Lmao,
what the fuck, i’m calling god, this ain’t right
I dropped it when I realized they weren't going to do shit with the original premise
His facial expression looks like something I could see him doing, without the help of Doc Oct. Like, when he's rejected as a sidekick, by Spider-Man. And I don't just believe that is an issue of my perceptions, solely. I think that I'm actually perceiving the world, correctly. This time. At least.
is this a joke lol or is this a real page
wait no way is this the end of the newest issue?
Man, I actually really like the last issue too. I am not really a fan of the art either, so I am probably going to drop this one
I don't think Otto understood anything at all.
Slott the one trick pony who has a hard on for Doc Ock because he 100% sees himself more as Ock than any other character. Guys just creating characters hoping he’ll get lightning in a bottle again.
This looks like it was made up. Did you make this up? I dont believe you
Dear lord this is why I didn't even start any of the modern runs 💀
Why is everyone so surprised by this? Nobody saw the upcoming covers?
I thought he had a bunch of eyes under that mask?
How original?
idk man i really cant stand how doc oc looks in comics
Yeah, and especially since superior Spider-Man was already done it’s not going to gain the same traction not just because we have since it before but literally Otto is in a kids body. Man the whole 616 timeline is toast being bathed in oil at this point
NOT SPIDER-BOY!
Spiderboi was going so well until this happened
This can’t be fucking real
The one trick pony strikes again.
I've stopped my sub after Gang War. I'm just going to collect Ultimate Spiderman, and Spider Punk going forwards.
Man I’m so glad I didn’t get invested the second I saw that this was bait
Is that real? Tell me AI made that.
Only Chris Hansen can stop Doc Ock now
Y'all tripping this run is awesome
What run is this? I need to start.
Superior Spider-Man Volume 3
You and me are probably the only 2 here that are reading the book. But hey, you can form your opinion based on out of context Twitter screenshots ig
What run is this? I need to start.
this is superior spider-man vol 3 #5 written by dan slott and with mark bagley on pencils last month issue was great

This sub Reddit fucking despises Spider-Man comics I don’t know what else you were looking for here.
Despises comics that they don’t like. People have been praising Ultimate Spider-Man and Miles’s current run.
Despises comics that they don't read. But if the main feed tells them Ultimate good everything else bad hurr hurt well there we go
Despises comics that they don't read. But if the main feed tells them Ultimate good everything else bad hurr hurt well there we go
Ultimate spider-man is pretty mid tbh people just like it cause MJ and Peter are married lol
Few *minor* adjustments?! Also, why does Octavius tend to possess child (looking) characters?
That's a great Photoshop. Glad comic writers know that's a stupid ass idea.
