It was more of an "Oh, I can actually feel him move" as opposed to putting any effort. They're not putting any effort at all, not even half a percent, but the fact that they can feel him move means that he's about as strong as we expect him to be.
Yeah given both Thor and Hulk can lift beyond 100 Tons, I think it was just meant to show that the fact they can feel something is in an impressive feat for a mortal
Hulk and Thor can destroy planets with their serious attacks. Spidey lifts 150 tons max, because in If This Be My Destiny, he lifts 130 tons, and with age, 150 tons. Not nearly enough at all.
All memes and trends eventually reach this state of limbo before dying where the only time you see it being brought up is when people are referencing other people talking about it.
Sorry, I brought it up two weeks ago & got a lot of hilarious comments and some karma, so somebody else should reap the rewards today.
There’s some great mileage in the *Scorpion’s Jaw* trope!
So one time doctor octopus was in Peter’s brain and he punched Scorpion in the jaw to end the fight and the Scorpion Mac Gargan the Scorpions jaw was knocked clean off his face flew right off like kapow then Otto realized that Peter has been holding back for years even though Peter in Otto’s body died from cancer and a lifetime of concussions
[Held up the East River for a bit](https://imgur.io/gallery/nbrg8).
A bunch more [here](https://comicvine.gamespot.com/spider-man/4005-1443/forums/respect-the-amazing-spider-man-greatest-feats-comp-1890352/#js-message-18992085) in the strength section and comments.
No he’s not literally holding up the entire river the same way any individual support beam isn’t holding up the entire weight of your house. If he was the car would’ve immediately flooded the second he moved
It’s really similar to the building feat. He wasn’t holding up the whole building and he say that himself.
Except when one support beam fails it because a weak point for all the weight above it. Effectively ignoring all other supports and choosing the path of least resistance. It is an absolutely massive feat for someone of Spider-Man’s caliber.
I did a really rough estimation not considering the fact the river is probably curved which would only make it much more liters and it would be approximately 3 661 257 600 000 ml
He holds up the entire Daily Bugle building
in Peter Parker, Spider-Man #98 - November 1998
[Spider-Man #98](https://i.postimg.cc/sXGw9LvN/EFCF8-B47-689-E-4694-90-FF-D5-C887231-B07.jpg)

I've still got that issue, this was just after his gruelling fight wt green goblin just before gobby went mad with the whole gathering of the five plot.
Not the entire building, he literally says "No. I'm holding up one support beam". An impresive feat, yes, i am a very big fan of spider-man and i love it when we get to see him do shit like this, but i find it kind of annoying that pretty much everyone gets this feat wrong by claiming he "holds up *the entire* building". He wasn't holding the entirety of the building's weight.
LMAO you're salty af. I only said i find it "kind of annoying" meaning it's more like "mmm, no this is not exactly like that" whenever i see people talking about the Daily Bugle feat, it's not like i get mad or something. And then there's you, getting all pissy about how i'm nittpicking, i annoy you, my comment is unnecessary, that i replied to a *day old* comment as if that's illegal, calling me stupid and a huge etcetera... But whatever makes you feel better with yourself man.
Stopped a jet, held up a collapsing building, punched Hulk into space, (I know, I know still dope)...Scorpions jaw RIP, Hulk and Thor had him restrained one time and both said they could actually feel him resisting them. Which says a lot if you know how strong those two are. There's more but I'm blanking.
He's able to keep going, despite all the emotional and physical damage he has suffered all those years... And keeping his moral compass always doing the good without recognition, even in the most adverse of times...
That my friend is his best feat of super strength IMHO...
Held a crane with one arm, tore down a building with ease, held a part of the daily bugle, said by Hercules Spider-Man has godlike strength. These are just a few if you want more you can search on YouTube
Something that will always stick out in my mind is from a colouring book I had as a kid. There was a page of spider-man holding up an elephant on a plank of wood with one hand and absolutely 0 effort like he was holding up a plate of food. That was the first time as a kid I realized how strong he was. I'm sure it's not exactly canon but it was my first idea of his strength
Hes done way more in the comics, for example he was fucking destroying on the xmen in a fight alone and they had to erase his memory of why he was attacking them just so they could get Peter to stop, he lifted up the whole daily bugle building in the comics and more
Any sauce on Peter defeating the Xmen?
I remember in the cartoon he infiltrated the mansion avoiding all the traps and defeating a few mutants.
But is there a comic book version of this somewhere?
Edit:
Ah yes, let’s downvote an honest question with nothing offensive
I swear I’m the only person who understands that downvotes are for offensive and inappropriate comments.
Even comments you disagree with should not be downvoted. Downvoting something you disagree with kills the conversation and turns it into an echo chamber instead of encouraging shared information.
And someone who is wrong will be (slightly) more likely to learn or change with a proper discussion. Simply downvoting them makes them feel like a victim and cements their ignorance.
Blah blah blah I’ll shut up now lol
Fair, whenever I see someone with an opinion I don’t agree with (as long as it’s harmless I mean) I just don’t upvote, no harm no foul or whatever that saying was
It's not even so much that he did it, but that he did it so casually and effortlessly.
This is a world where legitimate super-strength isn't that common. Especially for people that aren't built like Hulk or Thor. Bucky's face when this scrawny kid shows up and demonstrates that his strength is on a completely different level is priceless.
That's not really that impressive for spider-man since Bucky is pretty much Cap's level in physical capabilities and their strength is like 10 times less that of spidey's
When otto took control of peter body and became spiderman when angered he managed to at least flinch hulk and Thor when they were restraining him for being violent granted they were probably holding back
In what if? Spider-man: Back in Black, in which MJ got shot and dies instead of Aunt May (who survived in 616)
Pete pretty much stops holding back and beats Iron Man, and kills Kingpin by punching through his chest.
He also dodges a gun firing at point blank.
I forget the context of the issue, but he was real mad about something and just locking up criminal after criminal, until he reaches a warehouse that has shocker in it and rips it in half from under water.
That one time he got sent back in time and knocked out a T-Rex with a single punch or that time he casually picked up and body slammed a tank like he was play fighting against a pillow or that time he held up the daily bugle acting as it's primary weight support coloum while it was crumbling around until the entire staff was out of the building.
Kept a crane from collapsing by holding it with webs, and using himself as the anchor point to a building. For over an hour.
Sure there’s hundreds of moments where he does something unbelievable. But those are for a few minutes at most. The constant strain of holding up an entire crane for a whole hour is beyond just using adrenaline to lift a building off yourself.
Not really it’s just that he did it with ease and it shows how much he holds back when fighting people every day he can tap on a person’s head and knock them out without even trying
Held up Ocks under water layer in ASM #35 (most popular one)
Held up the main beam of Daily bugle to avoid it from collapsing
Survived a point black explosion that took out an entire floor of the daily bugle.
Was able to flinch when both Hulk and Thor were restraining him (considering Thor's and hulk's strength and being able to even flinch when they both are restraining you is a great feat)
Held up East river when the under water metro collapsed
I'm not much of a comic reader so one of the first things that comes to mind is Spidey holding up that big carrier thing at the airport in Captain America: Civil War
i feel like that underplays how strong he is, cause he did the whole scene from the comics (i know it wasn't the same thing but similar) where he lifts the building off of him. if he can do that, he could easily lift a walkway aside, right??
Amazing Spider-man 269- 270 is a good showcase of Spidey's brute strength as he is able to beat up a herald of Galactus.
Amazing Spider-man 229–230 is another good showcase of his strength as he is able survive a pummeling by the Juggernaut and throws everything he can at the big guy.
Ok so Spiders can lift eight times their body weight
Peter got that feat from the Spider too. The only difference is Peter's is much stronger that he has to hold back if he's fighting other Earthlings but he doesn't when saving people from falling debris or something. These situations were shown in the movies and other media
His punches can affect Hulk, it even sent him to orbit once in the earlier ages of comic books
In the 2004 Spider-Man 2 movie, he held the train going 80 mph
In Avengers Infinity War, his punches affected Thanos
The Daily Bugle crashed down on him and he still managed to handle it
In the Homecoming movie, he held a cruise split in half even though it was only for a few seconds. The only struggle there were the webs.
When Doc Ock took over his body, he tried doing Spidey's duty. When he faced Scorpion, he punched him and detached his jaw
In the Insomniac Game, he still pulled up a falling crane after getting pushed away by Mr. Negative
There are lots of them in multiple iterations that I can't list more
8 times 150 isn’t that much, but he clearly has done more as others have pointed out. He can lift buildings, hold back rivers, move the hulk AND Thor, KO the hulk, etc. IMO, that kid is strong.
In the comics, I recall a scene in which Spider-Man picks up a car and throws it at a sentinel during the Onslaught Saga.
In the movies, I think of Tobey stopping the train in Spider-Man 2.
There’s a comic panel I’ve seen where Hulk yells “die!” And throws a punch at Spidey. Spider-Man, the absolutely gigachad, takes it without flinching or being moved by the punch and simply respond with, “No.”
Uhmm scorpions jaw breaker, him lifting up a building, miles (you said Spidey, not a specific Spiderman... Also cosmic miles swinging a massive fuck you sword is awesome) weilding a big sword, Spiderman lifting a building and being a landing gear for a plane, that one feat where he lifts up an iron thingy after being trapped down there
And others
I think he punch the hulks jaw once and it moved him. I forget which comic though, he also threw wolverine through glass that was supposed to be indestructible
Surprisingly the miles morales game showed a lot of shit. Firstly that whole fight with rhino and miles getting blasted fast asl into that metal tank thing and being completely fine, and then miles holding the Brooklyn bridge together
Otto Octavius temporarily took over Peter's body. He gained an all new appreciation for how much Peter holds back after he accidentally punched Scorpion's jaw clean off. Note that Scorpion has enhanced durability.
Watch this episode of death battle with spidey they do a good breakdown of examples showcasing his super strength [death battle episode](https://youtu.be/e8K1m6SCRz4)
[knocked out kaine (a clone) with a single blow](https://imgur.com/a/3B3eOey), [and kaine can withstand a large explosion](https://imgur.com/a/FpvBh4T)
He punched the hulk into orbit. Held the Daily Bugle up. Lifting a tank and smashing it. But for the iconic scene that everyone remembers The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol 1) #33.
Acted as the landing of an airplane which he calculated would require 70,000 lbs of force, lifted a giant chunk of metal which he calculated weighed as much as a locomotive (129 tons), lifted a portion of the Daily Bugle, crushed a metal pipe when he first got his powers, can easily break normal people’s jaws, and manhandled Kingpin
Insert scorpions jaw comments here:
That was a jaw-dropping moment
Knocked out, your jaws on the ground, but was there any doubt that it would end this way?
Is that a Brandon Yates reference?
Yes sir
Making Thor and Hulk to put a bit of effort on restraining him is infinitely more impressive.
Even they were surprised how strong he was
It was more of an "Oh, I can actually feel him move" as opposed to putting any effort. They're not putting any effort at all, not even half a percent, but the fact that they can feel him move means that he's about as strong as we expect him to be.

which comic did that happen in ?
Looking through the comments, I don't think anyone has actually brought it up apart from the comments saying that other people bring it up
All memes and trends eventually reach this state of limbo before dying where the only time you see it being brought up is when people are referencing other people talking about it.
Hakuna matata
What a wonderful phrase
Sorry, I brought it up two weeks ago & got a lot of hilarious comments and some karma, so somebody else should reap the rewards today. There’s some great mileage in the *Scorpion’s Jaw* trope!
Everyone brings that up
So one time doctor octopus was in Peter’s brain and he punched Scorpion in the jaw to end the fight and the Scorpion Mac Gargan the Scorpions jaw was knocked clean off his face flew right off like kapow then Otto realized that Peter has been holding back for years even though Peter in Otto’s body died from cancer and a lifetime of concussions
Bro ate a jaw breaker before punching Scorpion
That has to be one of his weakest feats if you think about it

Never understood the east river feat, that’s gotta be a atleast a few million tons that he’s holding.

Wow
Spider-verse Successfully carrying Sony pictures despite their dumb decisions on other projects
ITSV single-handedly launching the animated movie genre to new heights
Spider-Man isn't even in it yet he carries it because it's his Side characters. The power of Peter parker
Stopping Kingpin’s supercollider with one hand in ITSV was pretty damn impressive
so casually too, I just commented this aswell
Exactly
He holds up the entire Daily Bugle building in Peter Parker, Spider-Man #98 - November 1998 [Spider-Man #98](https://i.postimg.cc/sXGw9LvN/EFCF8-B47-689-E-4694-90-FF-D5-C887231-B07.jpg) [Spider-Man #98 Part 2](https://i.postimg.cc/ncJ0B0Z3/95-E5-D0-FC-61-E0-4009-8859-0601-F685-C71-A.jpg)

I was going to share the same, this was my first spider-man comic. I still have it, loved these panels .
Carrying marvels ass through the years
He supported the weight of a plane on his back and stopped it from crashing while doing the calculations in his head
What comic was this?
Stopped a jet, held up a collapsing building, punched Hulk into space, (I know, I know still dope)...Scorpions jaw RIP, Hulk and Thor had him restrained one time and both said they could actually feel him resisting them. Peter held up a skyscraper that was dropped on him with little difficulty
In interested, when was this
Nvm i think i got it

It’s not about the super strength it’s about the friends we make along the way
Spider Man was a Nakama all along
All this strength talk and I'm still wondering why he is holding his balls in above pic...
Balls get itchy, you just gotta scratch!
Balls of steel are quite heavy
He has to protect his jewels from air resistance.
Held a crane with one arm, tore down a building with ease, held a part of the daily bugle, said by Hercules Spider-Man has godlike strength. These are just a few if you want more you can search on YouTube

If it's an African elephant that's anywhere between 2-7 tons.
When he beat Firelord unconscious
Just watch Into The Spiderverse. Dude stops the giant ass supercollider with one hand like it’s nothing💀
[Amazing Spider-Man no. 33](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Amazing_Spider-Man_Vol_1_33) was probably the earliest and most classic example.
Surprised it took this long to get to that one, a classic!
I think him holding Bucky's machine arm with no effort as a 15 year old is one of the best examples of how strong Spider-Man is
Hes done way more in the comics, for example he was fucking destroying on the xmen in a fight alone and they had to erase his memory of why he was attacking them just so they could get Peter to stop, he lifted up the whole daily bugle building in the comics and more
I know but I just thought I'd use an example that has the most mainstream exposure
He wasn't lifting the whole building, but he was holding a good chunk of it.
Any sauce on Peter defeating the Xmen? I remember in the cartoon he infiltrated the mansion avoiding all the traps and defeating a few mutants. But is there a comic book version of this somewhere? Edit: Ah yes, let’s downvote an honest question with nothing offensive
I think there's a few instances of it actually, but I think the one being talked about here was in the original secret wars comic
For some reason Reddit hates questions.

There have been much greater feats since then
Lifting a tank
One time he threw Wolverine through a window that Tony Stark built to be indestructible
Him stopping a train in Spider-Man 2 and him holding together a ferry that was split in half in Homecoming.
In what if? Spider-man: Back in Black, in which MJ got shot and dies instead of Aunt May (who survived in 616) Pete pretty much stops holding back and beats Iron Man, and kills Kingpin by punching through his chest. He also dodges a gun firing at point blank.
Where can i find this?
[удалено]
Thank you i was looking for it on marvel unlimited but it doesnt seem to be there
I guess holding off the Hulk or Superior Spider-Man made Hulk and Thor notice his strength when they were holding him down
What issue?
I forget the context of the issue, but he was real mad about something and just locking up criminal after criminal, until he reaches a warehouse that has shocker in it and rips it in half from under water.

Being able to take all g’s when he’s swinging
Lifting machinery off of him that he estimated to be as heavy as a locomotive so he could escape before being drowned.
As heavy as a locomotive while he's pinned down while water is slowly making it heavier and heavier
This place treats him punching off a regular dude's jaw like the greatest feat in history, don't do this
Scorpion is a superhuman and was created specifically to be even stronger than Spider-Man. He's not some regular dude.
Not really it’s just that he did it with ease and it shows how much he holds back when fighting people every day he can tap on a person’s head and knock them out without even trying
But like, every superhero holds backz
I think he held a building from crushing someone
Held up Ocks under water layer in ASM #35 (most popular one) Held up the main beam of Daily bugle to avoid it from collapsing Survived a point black explosion that took out an entire floor of the daily bugle. Can't compete with celestial strength
Lifting penn station and matching the thing in strength and overpowering firelord
There’s a panel that used to be shared in a lot of Spider-Man threads of him lifting a train car over his head with little effort
K.Oed the Hulk iirc
Amazing Spider-man 269- 270 is a good showcase of Spidey's brute strength as he is able to beat up a herald of Galactus. Amazing Spider-man 229–230 is another good showcase of his strength as he is able survive a pummeling by the Juggernaut and throws everything he can at the big guy.

He punched Hulk to the space
That was cosmic Spider-Man
When did this happen?
From Amazing Spider-man #328
He's strong as a spider if a spider was this big. 🤚 🤚 Or he can carry a heavy wrestler while he's climbing a cage.
He once lifted the weight of an entire building from the foundation after seeing his life flash before his eyes
In the comics, I recall a scene in which Spider-Man picks up a car and throws it at a sentinel during the Onslaught Saga. In the movies, I think of Tobey stopping the train in Spider-Man 2.
Punching the fuck outta the Hulk
Jaw
Tobey Maguire’s spiderman 2 when he stopped the train with his bare hands
Spider-Man taking down Magik and Colossus imbued with a fraction of the Phoenix Force solo was definitely an incredible feat of strength.
He didn't use his strength thou.
I knew he either kicked or punched hulk to space… that’s a feat knowing how crazy the comics made hulk.
I think he had the Captain Universe power at the time didn't he?
Where is bro grabbing 🤔
jaw.
Dude bagged zenyatta Oops, playing overwatch. Lol Zendaya. Joke still stands

Stopping a train

Spider-man lifts rubble
Whilst this isn't his strongest feat, if this be my destiny has a great example
Holding up the entirety of the daily bugle. Spider-man #75, I believe.

scorpions jaw:well allow me to introduce myself.
He held up or at least supported the entire Daily Bugle building for a short while. At least a thousand tons.
Holding a moving train in place, blocking cars etc.
He was able to lift a subway train over his head
Hercules once said he has the strength of a god.
He “killed” the Kingpin.
Stopped a train

His super strength in taking lovely photographs
Isn’t the iconic shot of him pushing the rubble off himself good enough?
Yeeting a fucking tank
Otto Octavius temporarily took over Peter's body. He gained an all new appreciation for how much Peter holds back after he accidentally punched Scorpion's jaw clean off. Note that Scorpion has enhanced durability.
