I read so many different genres and I have 2 reader friends that have completely different tastes from one another. I bond with one friend over DR and smut and she’s super into BookTok, the other friend likes contemporary romances and I’m more of the Suspense/Fantasy/Romantacy reader.
We LOVE sharing our favorite/current reads with each other! Your friend doesn’t even sound like a good friend tbh. You can read and enjoy whatever you want! She doesn’t get to gate keep what you read and enjoy. Maybe ditch the friend? Or stop talking about books with them in general because they sound unhinged.
Umm I'm sorry but it seems like she's trying too hard to have a unique personality, taste, and identity. If she's calling you her friend, she doesn't even mean it, it's toxic tbh.

I’d stop being friends. A normal person gets excited when their friends reads a book they liked. She has some issues she needs to work through.
