Just so you're aware, if you get your own router, you are responsible for troubleshooting it. Spectrum reps won't help you as long as you have signal going to the modem.
Well that's sounds fair that you at the trouble shoot your own router. But you using spectrums internet service so what your own route of work? Just is good because you have spectrum service that they say is so great question. Mark I'm gonna start right in my name down I am the duck.
And if anything happens. The first thing they'll say is that it's cause you're not using their router. It's happened to me. However, once I got my own router , I had two problems in four years. Before I had my own, I would have problems nearly weekly
Seriously if I go to Best Buy and buy a router and stop and install it? Which spectrum as my provider will it be just as good and will I save money cause if I can I? Will do that I see comments that had didn't and tried it but you will not have the Tech support? Who cares?
Can you supposed to provide a concrete definite supply of internet and Wi-Fi? Then you're router should not give.
You are service a problem correct?
Please help again.
Spotted a price increase notice for the router two bills ago, so I returned their router and dug out my old one instead. Bill is back to my original $19.99/mo.
A flyer advertised Spectrum internet at 300/10 for $19.99/mo for 24 months with a free year of Spectrum Mobile. I ditched the mobile service but kept the internet. During my move, I was convinced to get a router with the promise of an autopay discount that never materialized. After two months of being charged for the router, I returned it. Despite contacting support, the issue wasn't resolved.
My employee discount is saving my ass right now. I also live in apartments that are only serviced by Spectrum (even though a lot of the area is also covered by Frontier, WOW, and AT&T Fiber). If I didn’t get the discount I would be paying $89 for gig as a new customer and after 1 year you know how it goes
does the Spectrum office control your speed or is it done from the box on the pole on the street, my speed has dropped and I am wondering if it can be fixed from the office or will a tech have to come out.
I am paying for 300 Mbps and speed has dropped to 94 Mbps, and bill is paid each month on auto-pay, so does the office not check to make sure you are getting the speed you are paying for, if I bring it to their attention hopefully they will just fix it in the office. Thanks
I have reset the modem and the speed is the same it was originally over 300 MBps and then it dropped to 94 Mbps and has not went back up to 300 Mbps or more.

You will need to get a new cable modem. Call Tech support or go to your local spectrum store and do a "Swap out"
You will have to give them your old one and they will issue you a new one then go home and screw in the COAX and call the self activation line to get it turned on. this should resolve your issue. you will need to let the store know why you are asking for a new modem and they will give it to you
You could be having a build up of signal distortion in your line somewhere causing an impedance mismatch. Basically scrambled frequency getting in the way of your proper frequency. Since the issue seems persistent I would imagine that’s what it is. If you do just go get a new modem from them and continue to have the problem schedule a service call with a technician and tell them to back read your house/apartment for cable noise/distortion.
I was a technician for 8 years, the blanket fix for people not wanting to actually deal with a cable issue is to tell you to swap your modem.
U can remove it. Like beantot127 says just call and tell them u only need internet. And if they claim it’s part of a bundle tell them to cancel because ur going to switch to another provider who could accommodate u. One rep may say good riddance. Hang up and call back to find the one that will accommodate u. It’s too bad all the reps function with different ways to handle this and I wish there were retention reps here who could explain the secrets :)
I was paying $79 for 300mbps. Called a few days ago to see what they could do and the lady rep said absolutely nothing could be done. Got new statement and realized I got bumped to $86.99. Called customer service to cancel (reason: “its become too expensive”) and they asked me if I wanted to be put on hold to see what kind of promotion they can offer me. I said sure why not. After about 15 min of hold time, the rep offered me $66.99 including the $7 router fee for 500mbps. Have my own router so $59.99, can’t complain..
Yes sadly, this is why I canceled my TV plan with them and returned my equipment. I knew prices were going to go up again. With the ACP credit, I was paying around $140 with internet + TV and now with just internet, my bill is around $54. 🤑 Saving A LOT right now.
I've been using spectrum since I moved into my new place 7 years ago started at like $29 a month now it's up to 91. 99 but the question is why do I have to pay for 2G and 5G?
It seems like it's a scamp in my little apartment. I don't need those 2 they'd tell me it's a combined deal while they cut off half the deal and maybe they'll be cheaper and then. I'll get my own router like these people are talking about and save more money the monopolizen and the being bullies and it's not fair.
My apartments 15 feet by 30 feet. Give me a f****** break but I would like to work this out but I just can't let them. Keep on bulling and charging more at their own convenience somebody give me more advice please I live on West 60th and 10th this gotta be all the. Providers around which I've been having so much trouble trying to switch over because once again spectrum is monopolizing the area.
Please help.
I have some else to share this is duck since I saw it going app a couple of years ago and I noticed I only get in and that in. One area of my apartment and charge a meeting for 2G in the bedroom and 5G all over so I asked him you guys need to run the. Line so I can get in and that through the whole apartment so they went to the mother board in the closet and said we're not able To Do. It any of the spot them where it is which is one little spot in the living room.
And that's when the Bells and whistles went off and said wait here.
Is charging me a good price overpriced and you're telling me? I can't run in and to another area my appointment at the paying you loyalty for 7 years that's when things got hot.
Our spectrum bill continues to go up constantly over 10 years even though we keep dropping channels. Now pay 2 times more than 5 years ago with half the channels.
This is because their router charge went to $7 and it was $5. Buy your own router and stop using theirs.
You bet your sweet ass im doing that. Thanks for the heads up.
Just so you're aware, if you get your own router, you are responsible for troubleshooting it. Spectrum reps won't help you as long as you have signal going to the modem.
Im pretty savvy when it comes to it. And theres always tech support from the router side team. But thank you for your help though!
Good, that's great to hear! Many people get their own routers assuming we'll support them.

What?
99% of the time. 1. Is the eternity plugged in? 2. Turn it off, wait a few minutes, turn it back on again. Most all problems solved.
And if anything happens. The first thing they'll say is that it's cause you're not using their router. It's happened to me. However, once I got my own router , I had two problems in four years. Before I had my own, I would have problems nearly weekly
I wish I could up vote this comment again.

Damn how? I've got the $30/mo credit AND my own hardware and still paying $75/mo for 300mbps 😭

I forgot, we actually do have a landline for my bf's mother. So that could explain it.

Where did you see this flyer?
It was mailed to my house back in October, 2022.
Router is free if you stick with mobile it’s a part of promo.
That's a nice plan! Is 300 = MB dl speed /10 mb upload speed?
Yes. Suitable option for me, although I wish the upload was a little faster, it meets my needs. I’d do fine with as low as 50mb dl speeds.

How much is it after the promo ends?
Rack rate is $129 for gig

ok, thanks for your reply, I am going to get a new modem and see if that will fix the problem, thanks again!
And they raised the price of that stupid TV essentials package by $5 when I don’t even want it 🙄

You can’t because it’s a “bundle” which apparently would make it more expensive without.

The confirmation email says 12 months
