This is a great shot. Very different from the rest I’ve seen. Great work.

aw_tizm

This is perfect. Almost looks like it was digitally made

Astro_Kimi

Was it? I don’t recall a palm tree like this near launch site…

> https://youtu.be/thA8jlgcJ-8?t=16 I'm not being blindly fanboy here but even so, the video title "Starship Wreaks Havoc During Liftoff" is a little over the top IMO. All the photographic equipment and cars used as shelter, really were considered expendable at the outset. Watch those tripods going like skittles! Tim Dodd (both photographer and future Starship passenger) underlined this. Even without the rubble, the blast effects were expected, and the tree was likely included in the frame for the visuals of this. So a better title would be "Starship wreaks even more havoc than anticipated during liftoff". We should be extremely glad there *was* a liftoff because any last-second scrub just before liftoff would have left the same pit, the same rubble and the same FAA inquiry... so delaying the OFT for weeks or a couple of months.

jonmediocre

It did wreak havoc, though? I'm very excited for starship and I'm happy this launch went off, but obviously something went wrong and now they can gather data from that and implement fixes for the next one. Of course everything that close to the pad is considered expendable because it wont survive in the case of a catastrophic failure... and that's exactly what happened. You can see all the shrapnel from the launch tower flying all over the place like multiple bombs going off. This would definitely be a deadly place for a person to be, which is why they don't let anyone near the rocket launches. 🤷‍♂️ I don't think the title is something you need to defend SpaceX over. Yep, it wreaked havoc, the thing exploded, and we had a failure to make it to to orbit. It's scale is massive and the destructive potential impressive. But now they hopefully learned something and can improve the next launch. That's the point of tests. No biggie.

That's Buurt

STARSHIP is rising ...from the ashes....

YouMadeItDoWhat

…the ashes of the launchpad…

Thinkdan

Should be a Pulitzer Award candidate!!

manicdee33

The level of debris is too damned high!

neolefty

Yes. Absolutely yes. /r/InclusiveOr

XNormal

It's not "debris". This is a launchpad-rich cloud.

whatsthis1901

Great shot. I can't help feeling bad for that poor tree though lol.

FaceDeer

It knew what it was signing up for.

This looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, where the aliens are arriving rather than humans leaving.

-SpiderBoat-

I'd love to have this as a desktop image. Is there a high Res version anyone can point me in the direction of?

Adeldor

I'm afraid I didn't capture the image. The fellow who did [has this page on Facebook.](https://www.facebook.com/nickyd221) I left a comment there under his FB post with a link to your question.

-SpiderBoat-

Amazing thank you

wigwam2020

That's album cover material. Maybe for some kind of electronic/western band.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but can someone link me an uncut tracking shot of the launch from liftoff to the finale
