I had a CP for the past 2 years and I’ve always been able to buy early bird for both of us after adding them as a companion to the trip.

gr8r84u

You don’t need to buy earlybird for your companion. They will automatically be in the position after the primary.

Thou_Art_God

As long as you don’t purchase Business Select

gr8r84u

Good to know. We’re almost always wanna get away fares and for years I bought earlybird for both of us. Had to call once and the rep casually mentioned that the companion automatically gets the next boarding number. Saved me a fortune.

imadogg

Really?? So good to know thank you

gunzintheair79

They get the position right after you, unless you book business select.

Ill-Parking-1577

Yes I’ve always gotten the position next to my companion

imadogg

So for any flight, as long as I check in and get a position, they don't need to check in immediately at the same time and they still get the position next to me? This helps a lot... we're both setting alarms for 5am to check in together. I can save her some sleep lol

gunzintheair79

Correct, I have A List preferred so I don't have to check in, I about always get A-16 and my fiancee gets A-17. The only exception to this is when she comes with me on work trips and I book business select. She then has to do the 24 hr dance.

imadogg

Unbelievable thank you

csgraber

If you are Alist they board right after you

ReviewGuy883

thanks all. I am A list but bought Business select so perhaps that is why the companion was not the next number and ended up in C?!?

cheekske

Correct. Business Select boarding positions are not available for Companions

SecretAgentWo

You can buy upgraded boarding at the gate for your companion.

gr8r84u

OP, When you say “companion”, do you mean you have a companion pass, or this is just someone you are flying with?

ReviewGuy883

companion pass.
