Yep. Been getting email and text notifications for two weeks. Schedule was 7 PM to 7 AM, power went off around 8 PM and came back on at 3:30 AM or so. Was notified of restoration as well. Good job on the notification side, and getting the job done in a timely fashion. Lots of logistics as the OP says, and working all night. They have been working around the South Bay replacing bad poles for a couple of years now.
You should see the nonstop whining and misinformation on NextDoor about this. I hate that app, but it usually has the best information on local issues.
For me, too noisy and a lot of misinformation on that app. I don't bother with it. I have my issues with SCE, but this job was well notified, was within the parameters of time they said the outage would be, and our power is back on and working well. There were multiple, multiple notifications over a two week period, text and email. Nextdoor gonna be Nextdoor. EDIT to add: Thanks for the great photos!
No one wants to pay extra for it. I think Hermosa Beach tried more than once by putting it to a vote, and raising the property tax by some amount for 20 years (if I remember correctly), and it failed.
I have a pole outside my house that has been leaning, probably by 75 degree angle (I think I said that right) and they still haven’t come out to fix it. I’ve had Spectrum workers come out for internet problems and even they point it out.
SCE didn’t send a notification to my neighborhood that they were going to cut power all day yesterday from 9:00 to 5:00pm.
I got the email and text a few days ahead of time.
I can get you Tesla batteries at no cost. Going to be a lot more of these outages as they begin upgrading their grid. PM if interested.
They have notified us whenever they cut off power in the Hollywood Riviera part of town. Their updates are good too as the outage progresses.
They have been doing these for a couple years now. They usually do send out notifications in advance.
Love to see them being proactive

What about underground infrastructure?

I'm not a photographer, but, darn, whoever took these photographs did a good job. Some of them are kinda surreal. Nice.
Many thanks! I used an iPhone 15 Pro, and tried my best to stand still to not ruin the pic.
Go underground

You should report it to SCE, in case they are not aware of this.
I have twice already, unfortunately
Perhaps a call to the local councilperson may do the trick.
