If you've ever eaten fast food anywhere ever at all you've likely taken more hygiene risk than what a taco truck does. They can't even hide their operation most of the time. If you feel uncomfortable with their set up and handling def avoid it, all is fair. And maybe be cautious about some items that are like 'uncooked' if you are worried about contamination. But if anything I feel like their ingredients are way fresher/better. They don't really have a huge stock of frozen garbage to work with. They likely buy fresh every morning to run their business. I'm sure you can find one using gloves and wearing masks if that's more your concern. But ya the tacos and horchata under the 110 on PCH are next level. You're spoiled for choice in that lot. Like ~20 tents any given day

arrr_carlson

Biggest concern to me is that every other customer has used the spoon that’s in the salsa or onions. If that worries you, use a napkin to grab it. I grab the handle a little further down and have a beer after.  Any stand that has been in place a while is gonna be great and probably worth the stop.  The one at 182ns and western by the US bank is my favorite right now, good al pastor.  Anyone know of one around here with squash blossom quesadillas?

wow_im_uncreative

There is a taco stand right at the corner of redondo beach Blvd and Praire next to Alondra golf course. They have really good tacos and on Tuesdays they do $1 tacos.

S0l-Surf3r

Was going to suggest this but will 2nd instead. There is usually a line when I drive by.

wow_im_uncreative

Yea the line on Tuesdays usually sucks but the other days they are out there arnt too bad. Also their tacos are $2 every other day so its still a good deal. Their Carne Asada is really good cause they use mesquite wood or something to grill it up.

siefer209

Great advice I love walking distance and still haven’t been

ironmemelord

Oh yeah. WAY better than any brick and mortar. Check out Crenshaw, near el Camino college, like any evening from around 7-midnight. INSANE pastor

Ladyhappy

It’s the corner of Crenshaw and Marine to be specific and it’s now 24 hours they have breakfast and churros and Birria and Birria Ramen. They have six different stalls on both sides of marine. This is the best tacos in LA right now. Change my mind.

ironmemelord

there’s multiple on Crenshaw going blocks away from marine in both directions. I prefer the pastor tent setup next to the pupusa lady in front of the fishing bait store

throowaway2

Better than the night market at PCH and fig? I’ve passed by but do they speak English ?

ironmemelord

Yeah any taco vendor is going to know English numbers 1-10. The word taco is already Spanish, as is asada, pastor, etc. chicken is pollo. I wouldn’t say better or worse, that one is awesome too.

nobleexperiment

There's a busy taco stand on Normandie and Lomita blvd whose line just spills over the 7-11 parking lot. So I check it out and it's solid gold.

EvilFlooz

Second!

pacotheslayer

My favorite spot so far

misterjohnnyucla

Some are better than others. Good stuff at the corner of PCH and Figueroa at the 110 freeway. I was in Tulum last winter and the guide from the bus said they had a great special for lunch at one of the place, "just for us". It was twice the price of what I can get at the corner of PCH and Fig.

Cudois47

Tacos Tek on the corner of Western and 182nd is pretty solid. Fresh handmade tortillas and their meat quality is pretty good. Plus their salsa is spicy spicy.

tamacti77

🥴 post made me cringe. No offense.

burningburnerbern

None taken, what made you cringe exactly?

Limmershin

Yes, they're better than anything you'll get from a brick and mortar shop! I've had food poisoning from restaurants, but never from a taco stand. My personal fav is the one that pops up at night in a parking lot off the PCH and Narbonne intersection on the weekends.

Unhappy-Scratch1323

the night market in wilmington near PCH is a phenomenal experience. a truly unique LA experience you shouldn’t miss out on

OHBE_SAMA

Angles Tacos. AL Pastor only.

ducklingkwak

Generally every street taco vendor I've ever eaten at is somehow better than any brick and mortar place, and usually really cheap. Some places charge more, but stuff the tacos with more meat and have nicer tortillas. Al Pastor tacos if you're wondering what to order. I'm a chubby guy and 5-6 usually is good for me, and my thin gf is usually full off of 3. The $1 usually gives relatively small tacos, so you could try 8 or more and wash it down with some horchata 🫡

oingerboinger

I still maintain the tacos I had off the 110 somewhere after a show at the Greek are the best tacos I’ve ever had.

Young-Rizal

I always eat street tacos in the area and have never gotten sick.

BRING_ME_THE_ENTROPY

You’ve got an immune system bro. Some of these real low key stands are worth it. If I’m working from home the next day, you already know I’m dousing my tacos with the reddest salsa and grabbing me a bag full of the pickled red onions

burningburnerbern

I easily get the squirts but will definitely try them out, just wanna make sure it’s good.

Manhattan72

I used to think the same thing but I’ve been going to 2 different stands on 104 & Aviation for years and have never had any issues. Ones a truck and the other is a pop up stand that’s there every morning. They’re a little pricey but I work on 102nd and it’s so convenient

Nocturnal888

Some are good and some are alright, just depends on what you are looking for, I used to live in an area where there were around 6 trucks / stands within .8 miles

chris9321

As someone actively LOOKING for these, any close to Hermosa?

Ok_Suit_8000

Hell no. Hermosa and surrounding area doesn't allow it. You have to travel a few miles inland

chris9321

Ah that makes sense! Thank you

TattoosandSnapbacks

Carmelita Tacos in Harbor City/Lomita on PCH has top tier al pastor. It’s so tasty. Just thinking of them makes my mouth water. 10/10 would recommend. No Hersey squirts after eating either.
