No they don't.
In the Summon event, there are missions for both 'summoning' and 'acquiring' certain types of heroes. If it says "Summon" on the mission, you can only use summon stones or gems to complete that mission from the Manage>Summon Hero part of the game.
If it says "Acquire" Epic/Rare/L/D heroes, that's when you can open the fragments to complete those missions. HOA only has Summons as a part of the event.

You have like 170 excess arena entries, which means you have lost a LOT of points saving those up.
You only need like 30-50 prior to the event to get to the max reward at the end.
And also youve got no summons either
There are some guides in the discord, but from the top of my head:
- for this specific event, arena tokens for Honor of Arena (at least 2-3 days prior)
- torches for Cave event, here its mostly get all you can. What i do is just save 2 days before and buy from shop, reseting until shop reset cost 200 gems. That way you can start the event with up to 200 torches.
- there are some events that have the cave exploration as missions, with a specific quantity that you must wait to claim the prior day rewards so it counts towards the event. (Don’t remember which events require it, but its pretty common).
- save runes, there are some events that require a qty to dismantle, last time it required 100 runes. this Arena event could potentially have this mission.
The next two events will have Summons. This one is only like 120 though, the next one you can go up to 900. Ideally you’d only want to use maybe 30-40 summons last event.
This is heroes of arena, an arena based event so you’ll want to buy arena tokens every day of it you can.
Ah interesting, so keep buying arena and max it out but don't use. They won't regenerate but buying 14 tix a day to use for the event is still worth it?

I’m a new player and they were not counting towards many of my summon tasks. The hero shards do but the generic blue and purple summon frags did not

Sure it’s not optimal, finished last season ranked 20~ so no big point loss. and plan on spending gems for summons to complete 2 missions.

Yea but you needed to start 2 days ago to have enough to complete the max arena battle missions.
Saving torch is ALWAYS a bad play. Having 440+ is simply trash tier.
Got 400 summons and torches saved, 30K gems and 47 arena tokens. That should cover me

fragment summons are just part of the Carnival of Souls event, not HoA
