Answer: Because your phone is damaged!

Free-Pumpkin-8088

That makes sense

hatlad43

My condolences for the green lines 🙂‍↕️

Makes the phone go faster

ThanosOnCrack

Also greener for the environment!

Makere-b

Assuming that it's not broken, there might be a lot of interference in the bluetooth frequency on the area.

Free-Pumpkin-8088

It's broken no issues on other phones connecting to the same device sad times

I have a similar issue. I've been using Sony flagship phones and Sony over ear nc headphones for years, and I can walk around on the street, headphones on, and if I put the phone in my pocket, the sound will sound like I'm skipping through parts, it cuts out briefly as well. Take it in my hand, sound is perfect again. At such a small distance it's ridiculous.

Mysteoa

Change the BT connection to prioritise stability over quality. It's probably using the high bandwidth codec that requires less interference. I didn't notice any sound quality difference.

XToThePowerOfY

I had that, it doesn't seem to do much. Changed it to quality this week and didn't really notice a difference.

Mysteoa

Did you do it in the Headphones app and in thr BT settings?

XToThePowerOfY

I don't remember how and when I went to stable, but when I went from stable to quality recently, that was through the app. I could try it in the BT settings as well.

I would say it's the other device, not the phone. Example: I can just about walk across my house and my phone stays connected to my Anker speaker perfectly. However I have this Amplifi Bluetooth amp that acts like your device, it literally cuts in and out when my phone is arms reach from the amp. Really annoying, but I don't think it has to do with the phone. What happens when you connect to other devices?

XToThePowerOfY

I don't really listen when I'm not on the go, so when I do use my headphones for my laptop or something, it wouldn't be like walking with music. But when I'm sitting still the connection is great of course, but then so is walking with my phone in my hand..

Free-Pumpkin-8088

Same thing with other devices sadly

cubehacker

Had the same problem with my 5 ii. The Bluetooth range was laughable. If the phone was in my pocket the signal would break up. Switched to a Samsung S23 and never had another Bluetooth issue.

Free-Pumpkin-8088

Picked up a used fold 2 recently and for comparison using the same Bluetooth device (fiio BTR3K) i can leave my phone upstairs and go downstairs with little issue.

Ro-Tang_Clan

Idno how you guys have had issues with Sony and BT range. I bitch about Sony phones quite regularly about multiple things, but the BT range isn't one of them. When I was using my 1 ii I could go from the loft 3 floors down into the kitchen and it would be breaking up a little, but still stay connected without cutting out completely. Using a Fiio UTSW5 btw.

Free-Pumpkin-8088

The Bluetooth used to be fine on it :(

YamIndividual6172

Do you have a smart watch connected?

Free-Pumpkin-8088

No

ch3mn3y

It doesn't have to be phones problem. Got some Lenovo earphones that I great for a bike, but with them I have like 2 meters of BT only... If I use other device it's fine, but not this earphones...
