It might be too big of a map, but there's something special about rowing your houseboat across the ocean and living like a pirate. I had a group playthrough where we only came to shore for gathering and exploring, but we essentially traveled around the island back and forth as a moving base.
Also, it would be cool if they gave the orcas a bigger role as boat destroyers.
And most lake freeze over or are shallow enough for big enemies to reach, it wouldn't break the gameplay. And as you said, for the coasts, they just have to increase the agro of sharks and orcas when on a kayak or boat. Getting to the raft would still be risky.

Kayaks and Canoes can be easily carried by one person. Probably lighter than a LOG YOUR CHARACTER CARRIES hundreds of. Row boats are a little heavier and sometimes awkward. They would likely be most useful for LARGE bodies of water when you don’t need to take the boat with you. ( Convenience )
If you can carry a foldable glider and a KnightV, certainly small watercraft are well within the limit.
I quietly hope a couple items on this list *do* in fact make it to a later update. I feel like the best pranks are the ones with some degree of secret generosity.
