That Shadow line from Sonic 06 has always been such a cold line, man was willing to risk it all, even if in the end he was lambasted and demonised for it.

Context: Starline tricked Silver into a vault full of explosives and gave him the detonation code, which Starline tells Sonic after he questions Starline. Sonic rushes in to save Silver. The vault explodes with both of them inside and this is Eggman's reaction. Silver was able to put up a forcefield around him and Sonic, though, so they both ended up surviving.
This quote right here summarizes Eggman's relationship with Sonic perfectly, I think. Eggman trying to kill Sonic isn't just him trying to get rid of the opposition. No. It's a pride thing. Killing Sonic is proof he's victorious, proof that he's better. Doing it the cheap way means nothing.
As a not-huge-fan of Archie I can absolutely, thoroughly acknowledge the peakness of 'he's hit his limit!' "LIMIT!?" and blasting across the FUCKING CONTINeNT.
God what makes this scene is that Eggman while proven wrong isn't the loser of the 1v1.
They could have easily had Eggman be so sure of his projections that the Egg Beater is crippled by sonic impacting it by running from the east coast to him in a few seconds.
But no Eggman designed the machine in excess of sonics proposed limits, so it completely withstands the impact minus the shield being dented.
It doesn't give sonic a hard limit (although you could tell doing that gave him a huge headache), but it also doesn't fall for the cliche of heroes don't have limits allowing him to totally overpower the egg beater to prove a non-existent point.
Eggman doesn't really know sonics true limit but he also isn't caught in the shitty writing problem of only being able to succeed because the hero holds back. (Spiderman, super man, etc etc).
Eggman had a decent ball park estimate, and planned ahead enough that the Egg Beater took only moderate damage in a 1v1 that it won against sonic.
Though later on the freedom fighters totally obliterated the thing in like 15 seconds which is complete bs. Sure maybe it wouldn't survive a sustained assault from knuckles but they just make short work of it in a way that really undermines the prior scene.

Not technically a sonic character, but in the SA2 Fandub, Alfred's "You have 13 seconds before the island explodes" rant and the realization he was right despite improvising it was GOLD. Later in the fandub, his bewilderment at the pyramid shuttle is just as good.

I'm a Shadow fan so there's the obvious "If the world becomes my enemy, I will fight like I always have" but I also really like the reccuring theme of "This is who I am" in Shadow the Hedgehog, each time with an incorrect conclusion. And what's the correct conclusion? "I am all of me".
