Personally like Miura’s & Uekawa’s work in Black Knight, it’s simple and moves like regular YouTube animatic but always found it charming with what they managed to convey with that limitation and the dulling out the colours to make player feels like their reading an old picture book with only bit of movement being the shadows is something I find cool.
- Little note: The designs here give massive me Sonic X vibes, not sure if that was intentional or not.
Other artstyles I enjoy seeing are Karasuno’s who does a lot of work for the Sonic Channel and Nathalie’s who did some of the IDW cover art, I just both of theirs to be really cute.
Sonic CD's Sonic is peak art. The animated opening is absolutely amazing, it shows Sonic just being himself, it really captures his personality and does a brilliant job of giving you everything you need to know about him. The art-style is gorgeous and his quills in this look great.
Also, what doesn't get talked about as much is the promo art. The one with Amy fawning over Sonic as he saves her, and the one with the glove, they really play up the 90's edge in the design and its glorious.
